Chapter 39: Chapter 39: Like a Phantom

After finishing his explanation, Han Yu looked at Ultron and Quicksilver quietly. "So, what do you say? Are you willing to join me in helping the mutants?"

Although they were his employees, Han Yu wouldn't force them if they were genuinely against the idea. Forcing them could lead to complications down the line.

"I'm in—absolutely in. There's no reason not to join," Quicksilver answered almost immediately.

Han Yu was slightly surprised. Quicksilver, who had lost his parents at a young age, deeply understood the pain of being mistreated and ostracized. If he could help others in such situations, he would gladly step up without hesitation.

What surprised Han Yu more was how quickly Quicksilver agreed. He had always shown himself to be a laid-back, carefree guy who just wanted to eat, drink, and have fun. Han Yu had assumed he'd need convincing, but instead, he was the first to agree.

Ultron chimed in, "I'll join too. It's not like I care about humans or their fate, but boss, aren't you planning to release a mobile game soon?"

Han Yu blinked, a little taken aback. "Uh, yeah, what about it?"

"Perfect," Ultron replied. "Games are fun, but they need players. If things spiral out of control between mutants and ordinary humans, it's going to be chaos. Imagine my teammates disconnecting mid-game because of some war—I don't want that happening."

Han Yu chuckled. Ultron's reasoning revolved entirely around gaming.

Still, Han Yu didn't mind. After all, Ultron once had plans to destroy all of humanity. If this had been anyone else asking—not him or his games—Ultron wouldn't have cared at all. If it were the Avengers making the request, Ultron would likely send them packing with a punch.

With both of them agreeing, Han Yu turned to Quicksilver, ready to offer guidance. But before he could speak, Quicksilver beat him to it.

"Ultron, find me the relevant books I'll need to study. I'll catch up in no time—with my speed, give me three days, and I'll match your progress."

Seeing his serious expression, Ultron didn't tease him or argue. Instead, he replied, "Fine. I've already sent the materials to your computer."

Ultron's supercomputer capabilities made gathering and sharing resources effortless.

Quicksilver nodded, gave Han Yu a quick glance of acknowledgment, and left for his room. It seemed he wouldn't be leaving for the next few days.

Ultron also got to work, focusing on creating the necessary programs. This left Han Yu standing alone, bored.

As the mastermind, Han Yu only needed to oversee plans and direct others. If he had to do everything himself, what was the point of hiring employees?

"This is getting dull. Let's see if I can find something else to do!"

Meanwhile, in a luxurious villa on the outskirts of New York, a burly man sat quietly in a study, flipping through a book.

At that moment, a man in a black suit walked briskly from outside. As he approached the door, his footsteps slowed, and he knocked lightly.

"Come in," the burly man said without looking up from his book.

The suited man stepped inside.

"How did it go? Report," the burly man asked, still focused on his book.

"R-reporting to Mr. Fisk, the Assassin's Guild... they failed," the suited man stammered.

The atmosphere in the study seemed to drop a few degrees at that moment.

"What? Failed?"

The burly man was none other than Fisk, the underworld kingpin who had previously provided Han Yu with information on Wanda and Quicksilver's whereabouts.

"Y-yes," the suited man stammered, sweat beading on his forehead. "Two assassins were killed, including the one who could turn energy into a sword. The remaining one managed to escape."

His voice had grown quieter, terrified that Fisk might lose his temper and kill him on the spot.

"Alright, you can go," Fisk said, waving him off.

The calm tone left the suited man surprised. He whispered his thanks and quickly backed out of the room.

But as he turned to leave, a red laser shot out from behind him, piercing his chest. The suited man stared in shock at the gaping hole in his torso before collapsing to the ground, dead.

Fisk calmly retracted the cane that had emitted the laser, placing it beside his chair. Standing, he walked over to the window, where rain was softly tapping against the glass. The faint sound only heightened the oppressive atmosphere in the room.

"Useless fools, the lot of them," Fisk growled. "I paid five million dollars to hire a superpowered assassin, and they still failed miserably!"

At this time, the term "mutants" was not widely known, so Fisk simply referred to them as "superpowered individuals."

Fisk had two reasons for targeting Han Yu. First, Han Yu's attitude during their previous interaction had rubbed him the wrong way. Second, he wanted to test Han Yu's strength and see if he was as formidable as the rumors suggested.

What Fisk didn't know was that Han Yu had played a critical role in the Sokovia incident. By the time Han Yu arrived there, most of the civilians had been evacuated. Only the Avengers and a handful of S.H.I.E.L.D. agents had witnessed Han Yu detonating Sokovia.

S.H.I.E.L.D., of course, wouldn't disclose this information. To the public, the credit for resolving the incident was given to the Avengers.

"Five million dollars, huh? If you want my life, that amount seems a little too low," a soft laugh suddenly echoed through the massive study.

The sound made Fisk's body tense up instantly, his hair standing on end. His mind raced: Impossible. There's no way it's him. How did he get in here without me noticing?

Slowly, Fisk turned around. In the shadowy corner of the study, a young man was leaning casually against a bookshelf, flipping through a book he had plucked off the shelf.

"Brother Han? It's you. Why didn't you let me know you were coming?" Fisk forced a grin.

The young man was indeed Han Yu.

Seeing Fisk turn toward him, Han Yu snapped the book shut and casually tossed it back onto the shelf. Interlocking his fingers and resting his hands on his knees, he smiled warmly at Fisk. "What do you think?"

"Ah, haha! How would I know? Maybe you came to have dinner with me?" Fisk chuckled nervously as he moved toward his desk. "I'll have the staff start preparing food right away!"

He didn't relax until he reached his desk and grabbed his cane.

Standing closer now, Fisk noticed something peculiar. Despite the rain pouring outside, Han Yu's clothes were completely dry. There was no shelter nearby apart from the house itself, so how had Han Yu arrived in such weather without getting wet?
