Marvel : Super Soldier at the Start

Chapter 191: Mistake

At the critical moment, the Space Stone within Blake's body suddenly surged with agitation.

A wave of pale blue spatial energy erupted outward from Blake, sweeping over his surroundings. The black holes, which had seemed as immovable as ink spots on a table, were instantly washed away as if by a tidal wave, vanishing without a trace.

Collapsed sections of space were effortlessly smoothed over.

Having been completely lifted off the ground moments earlier, Blake found himself landing back on solid earth, his feet firmly planted.

His heart raced with unease, but outwardly, he maintained a calm and collected demeanor.

"Really, nothing new here. You're done fighting. Now it's my turn," he said, his voice indifferent, yet carrying a hint of mockery.

With a sinister grin, Blake swung his katana forward.

A faint blue light flickered along the blade. Mid-swing, most of the blade inexplicably disappeared, only to reappear behind a squad of Dark Elf soldiers standing in front of him.

More precisely, it reappeared behind them at neck height.

The blue light flashed, and in an instant, the soldiers were decapitated without even realizing what had happened.

This was a technique Blake had developed as his mastery of the Space Stone grew. It wasn't that he had sliced through space with a single swing, but rather that he had opened a small wormhole along the katana's trajectory. As the blade moved, the wormhole stretched and extended, creating the illusion that space itself had been cleaved.

From Malekith's perspective, however, it truly looked like Blake had cut through space with one slash.

"A single swing broke open space? This…"

Malekith exchanged a shocked glance with the Dark Elves around him, the disbelief evident in their eyes.

But Blake was just getting started. After cutting down a squad of soldiers, he stomped his feet against the ground.

Flames erupted from underfoot in two long jets, propelling him forward with incredible speed. His entire body became engulfed in fire.

From Malekith's viewpoint, Blake crouched slightly, then sprang upward. Twin jets of flame erupted beneath his feet, and he shot around the remaining three squads of Dark Elf soldiers in a fiery blur.

In less than three seconds, he had returned to his original position.

Blake casually blew out a small flame that lingered on his palm, as if nothing had happened.

However, the three squads of Dark Elves were now gone.

All that remained in the places where the soldiers had stood were small piles of black ash, the only evidence they had ever existed.

"Had enough of the show? Now, get down here!"

Having narrowly escaped death from a singularity grenade earlier, Blake had no patience left for theatrics. He immediately turned his attention to Malekith and attacked.

This time, Blake didn't use his flames or his katana. Instead, he unleashed the full potential of the Space Stone.

A circular wormhole suddenly opened at an angle on Malekith's ship.

By positioning a wormhole on the ship, Blake effectively sliced a diagonal section off its hull.

The wormhole flickered and vanished as quickly as it had appeared, leaving the ship looking as though it had been cleanly bisected. The exposed sections of the ship began sparking and emitting small explosions due to disrupted energy circuits and systems.

One after another, Blake opened and closed wormholes. In mere moments, four ships were torn apart like paper.

One of the ships appeared to have had its energy core or some other critical system severed, triggering a massive explosion that reduced it to fragments.

The remaining two ships didn't fare any better. Before they could even hit the ground, Blake tore into them with a barrage of wormholes, slicing them into pieces midair.

Only Malekith's ship was left intact. As the Dark Elves' king, Blake felt it was only fair to give him a proper entrance.

Malekith, lacking the Aether, was far from invincible. Though his combat prowess was only slightly above average, he still possessed a superhuman physique. After his ship was destroyed, he leapt down to the ground with ease.

Having slumbered for so long, Malekith had finally been summoned by the Aether. Brimming with ambition, he had been ready to reclaim it and fulfill the Dark Elves' vision of eternal darkness.

Yet, before he could even leave his own territory, his elite forces had been annihilated by a lone human.

Arrogance was not the same as stupidity. At this point, Malekith had no choice but to acknowledge that this "insignificant ant" standing before him was far more powerful than he had anticipated.

"Who… what are you?" he demanded.

Looking at the wreckage scattered across the ground and the seemingly unscathed, 'ordinary' man standing before him, Malekith's head remained held high, but his deep voice began to tremble slightly.

"Midgardian... Blake!"

Blake waved casually, smiling as if greeting a neighbor on a stroll, and introduced himself.

"Impossible!"

Malekith's voice carried a mix of anger and disbelief, as though he felt deceived.

"Midgard is the weakest of the Nine Realms! If not for Asgard's protection, it would have long been reduced to a slave pit for other realms or a perpetual battlefield. How could such a powerful human come from there?"

To most inhabitants of the Nine Realms, Midgard was nothing more than a weak and insignificant realm. The idea that he, Malekith, had been defeated by a Midgardian was utterly unacceptable.

Blake smiled faintly. "Forget Earth's recent changes—Earth wasn't the kind of place you could invade easily even thousands of years ago. You've never truly understood Earth."

From Blake's perspective, Earth was the nexus of fate in the Marvel Universe. Who knew how many hidden heroes and powerful beings were there? Calling Earth weak? What a joke. Even with two Infinity Stones, Blake didn't dare claim he was the strongest person on Earth.

Malekith stared fixedly at Blake, searching his face for any sign of deception. Finding none, he sighed.

"Then, can you tell me what's going on with the Aether inside you?"

Detecting a hint of resignation in Malekith's voice, Blake paused briefly. Raising his right hand, he let blue energy flow from his palm.

Several beams of energy converged above his hand, forming a projection of the Space Stone.

"One of the six Infinity Stones, the Space Stone," Blake explained. "I obtained it before finding the Aether—or, as you call it, the Reality Stone. Once I did, the two Stones began to resonate with each other."

As he spoke, dark red energy emerged from his palm, creating a projection of the Reality Stone alongside the Space Stone. Under Blake's control, the two projections slowly merged.

"The Infinity Stones were never just weapons or tools," Blake remarked.

Malekith stared blankly at the merging projections of the two Stones in Blake's hand.

"So that's how it is... I see now!"

Although the projection wasn't the true merging process, it allowed Malekith to grasp the basic concept.

"Two Infinity Stones... Even if you've figured out the right way to use them, no ordinary being could bear such power. You must have been entrusted with some great mission or will by an extraordinary existence."

Malekith's deep voice echoed again.

"To fall to you is no disgrace to us Dark Elves. However, you've made one fatal mistake."

As he spoke, Malekith's tone grew darker and colder.

Blake's heart skipped a beat as a chilling sense of danger surged within him, causing the hairs on his body to stand on end.
