Chapter 206: C144(3)

Gathering her courage, Fleur rolled up her gown and sat directly on Kain's lap.

She cast a charm spell—an ability passed down from her grandmother—and gently took Kain's hand, her voice soft and pleading as she whispered his name.

"Kain, please," Fleur pleaded, her voice trembling. "I have no one else to turn to in this matter. Help me."

"Rely on me?" Kain's tone was calm but laced with a sharp edge. "Or were you planning to rely on the love potion instead? You're bold, Ms. Fleur Delacour, attempting to use a love potion to manipulate a Hogwarts professor."

Fleur's eyes widened in shock as his words sank in. She lifted her head to meet Kain's gaze and was struck by the clarity in his eyes—clear, focused, and entirely unaffected.

'He resisted the love potion?!'

Panic gripped her as the realization set in. She tried to rise from his lap, but Kain's firm grip on her waist and hands kept her firmly in place.

To her dismay, the dessert slices from the table floated into the air, guided by Kain's wandless magic, and disappeared into a pocket that had been enchanted with an Undetectable Extension Charm.

The sight of this made Fleur's heart sink further. Not only had her plan failed, but the evidence was now in his possession.

If this incident came to light, the repercussions would be catastrophic—not just for her but for her family.

"Professor Pent, it's not what you think," Fleur stammered desperately. "I—"

"Save it," Kain interrupted, his voice cold and authoritative. "Aurors would uncover the truth soon enough. And if that fails, there's always Veritaserum. Would you like to give it a try?"

The mention of Veritaserum shattered Fleur's last defenses. The thought of her actions being exposed, coupled with the potential downfall of her already struggling family, filled her with dread.

If Kain reported this, her future would be over. Even Madame Maxime's influence might not be enough to protect her.

"I'm sorry," Fleur whispered, her voice breaking as tears began to stream down her face. "Please forgive me, Professor Pent. I didn't know what else to do."

"You're sorry," Kain said, his tone steady, "but only because the love potion failed and I caught you. If it had worked, would you have regretted using it at all?"

Fleur's tears fell faster, and Kain couldn't help but notice the way her veela charm amplified her beauty even in such a vulnerable state.

Her mixed lineage made her allure almost irresistible, but Kain's resolve remained firm.

"What do you want me to do?" he continued. "Should I report this to Madame Maxime? Or do you plan to 'fix things' in the aftermath of the failed potion?"

Fleur froze, her breath catching in her throat. The mere idea of involving Madame Maxime was unthinkable; the repercussions would be swift and merciless.

As for Kain's cryptic suggestion about the second option, she wasn't sure what he meant at first—until she felt the physical evidence of his arousal beneath her.

Her face turned crimson as the implications became clear. For someone as inexperienced as Fleur, this was unfamiliar territory, and her mind raced with conflicting emotions.

"Professor Pent," she murmured, barely audible, "if I choose the second option… the dessert…"

Kain leaned back slightly, his expression unreadable. "If you choose the second option, I'll consider this matter resolved and won't speak of it to anyone."

He released her from his grasp, and Fleur stayed where she was, torn between two unbearable choices.

She could either preserve her chastity and face the full wrath of the Ministry of Magic and public scorn, or she could make a private sacrifice and ensure the incident stayed buried forever.

Seconds ticked by as Fleur wrestled with her decision.

"I understand, Professor," Fleur said softly, her voice trembling slightly. "I hope you will keep your promise."

With those words, she slowly stood, her graceful figure outlined in the dim light, before lowering herself carefully into a kneeling position.

"If you perform well," Kain said, his tone sharp yet measured, "the Delacour family may still have a future. But everything depends on your actions."

In the Gryffindor Girls' Dormitory

When Hermione returned to her room, she was immediately surrounded by her curious and excited dormmates.

"Hermione, what was it like dancing with Professor Pent? How did it feel? Merlin, when I walked past him yesterday, I could smell his cologne. You're so lucky!"

"Professor Pent was absolutely enchanting tonight," another girl added. "Can you name a wizard more handsome than him?"

"Forget wizards," someone else chimed in. "Even among Muggle celebrities, there aren't many who could match his charm."

Hermione, basking in the attention, tried to appear nonchalant. "Oh, it wasn't anything special," she said with a casual wave of her hand. "I asked, and the professor agreed. That's all."

She paused, her tone shifting to feigned weariness. "Though, I'll admit, he's very tall. You have to crane your neck just to look up at him while dancing—it's quite exhausting, really."

The room fell silent for a moment before the girls collectively groaned.

"Ugh, Hermione!"

In that instant, Hermione found herself labeled the least popular person in the Gryffindor dormitory, at least for the night.

Later, Katie Bell and her two friends returned to the dorm, only to find a lively gathering in Hermione's room. Curious, they walked over to join the crowd.

As Katie entered, she overheard someone teasingly say, "Katie, if you're planning to bring desserts to Professor Pent again, you might as well give up now!"

Katie immediately frowned, crossing her arms. "If it weren't for that woman from Beauxbatons, Professor Pent would've already tried the desserts I prepared!" she said, her tone laced with frustration.

"Merlin, I don't understand why she always manages to get ahead of me. She's not even from Hogwarts, yet she acts like she knows her way around better than I do!"

Hermione, who had been quietly listening, perked up at Katie's words. "Wait, Katie," she said sharply, "which woman are you talking about?"

"Who else? The Beauxbatons champion," Katie replied, rolling her eyes. "There's no one else bold enough to pull a stunt like that. Honestly, you wouldn't believe—Hermione? Where are you going? I haven't even finished!"

"Just to the bathroom," Hermione called over her shoulder as she hurriedly left. "I forgot to wash my face earlier."
