Chapter 182: Chapter 182: The Thunder God’s Accessory
When Gwen saw Rogers burst in and knock Loki away, she couldn't help but breathe a sigh of relief.
At that moment, Anna felt a wave of dizziness in her head, barely managing to stay on her feet.
Seeing Anna's state, Gwen immediately asked, "Tony, are you almost here?"
"Almost. Want me to pick a cool entrance song?"
"When you get here, please check on Anna. Loki seemed to have done something to her earlier."
"No problem!"
Tony wasn't surprised that Gwen knew what was happening on the scene.
After the last incident, Tony had realized that Spider-Woman had an AI assistant no less capable than Jarvis.
Outside the hotel, in the sky.
A fighter jet hovered in place.
The pilot of the jet was none other than Black Widow, who had come with Rogers.
"So, this is the magic of a god?"
She looked down at the scene below, where the number of Lokis had multiplied, surrounding the civilians.
"Is that Asgard's fashion sense? Looks a bit tacky."
Black Widow mercilessly mocked Loki's appearance. By now, Loki had reverted to his iconic horned god armor.
Boom!
A loud crash immediately caught Black Widow's attention.
She followed the sound and saw Rogers already engaged in battle with Loki.
Though Rogers' physical strength far exceeded that of an ordinary human, he was still slightly outmatched against Loki, a Frost Giant.
Especially since Loki wielded the Mind Scepter, a powerful artifact.
During the fight, Rogers felt a constant sense of frustration, as if he couldn't unleash his full strength.
Black Widow, with her sharp eyes, quickly noticed Rogers was at a disadvantage.
Turning to the S.H.I.E.L.D. agent in the co-pilot seat, she said, "You take over the jet."
"I'm going down to assist the Captain."
"Understood!"
Just as Black Widow was about to unbuckle her seatbelt and head down to help Rogers, the jet's system suddenly displayed a warning of an incoming hack.
Immediately afterward, a lively disco track started playing inside the jet.
The sudden music left Black Widow momentarily stunned.
She recognized the song all too well—it was often played by Pepper when she was undercover around her. Pepper had mentioned it was Tony's favorite disco track.
In an instant, Black Widow understood what was happening.
Then, Tony's voice echoed inside the jet. "Long time no see, Agent Romanoff…"
"Did you miss me?"
"Of course, I was waiting for you."
"Okay, let's deal with the matter at hand first!"
Tony flew over the hotel, looking down at Rogers and Loki locked in combat.
Seizing the right moment, he fired a repulsor blast from his palm, sending Loki flying.
Caught off guard, Loki was blasted away and crashed heavily onto the ground.
As he struggled to get up, he saw Iron Man standing before him, fully armed with every weapon activated.
"Now, drop your weapon and surrender!"
Loki, surprisingly cooperative, raised both hands in surrender, and his godly armor slowly faded away.
At that moment, Rogers walked up to Tony.
Nick Fury had shown Rogers files on Tony Stark long ago.
Neither Iron Man, billionaire, nor super-genius identities intrigued Rogers much.
The only thing that caught his attention was that Tony was the son of his old friend, Howard Stark.
"Stark," Rogers greeted.
Tony glanced at Rogers and replied politely, "Captain."
"Take him into custody. I have other matters to attend to."
Rogers didn't ask further, simply nodding in acknowledgment.
After restraining Loki, Tony rushed into the hotel and spotted Anna sitting in a corner.
"Anna Granger?"
Anna, with cold sweat on her forehead, instinctively nodded upon hearing someone call her name.
"Jarvis, run an X-ray scan on Miss Anna's condition."
"Yes, sir."
"Sir, Miss Anna appears to be fine, likely just a bit shaken."
Anna, regaining some clarity, recognized the man before her. "Tony Stark?"
"That's right. It's me."
"A friend asked me to check on you."
"Do you need me to call an ambulance?"
Anna shook her head and said, "Can you take me back to New York?"
"I don't want to stay here any longer."
If Tony had only come in his armor, taking Anna to New York would've been impossible.
But there was a jet waiting outside!
Without hesitation, Tony nodded. "No problem. Keeping you safe is my mission."
"Thank you."
Tony helped Anna onto the jet. Rogers, noticing an additional passenger, walked over and asked, "And this is…?"
"Uh… a friend of mine."
"Looks like the playboy has quite a few friends, even a lady companion in Germany," Black Widow quipped sarcastically, clearly misunderstanding the situation.
Tony didn't bother explaining. He guided Anna to a seat across from Loki and asked, "Do you need Agent Romanoff to help you with the seatbelt?"
Black Widow raised an eyebrow in surprise—not because Tony had directed her, but because he was being so gentlemanly toward such a beautiful woman.
That wasn't his usual style.
Could it be that she really was just a friend?
Anna, her face a little pale, smiled faintly. "No need, I can manage."
"I just need some rest."
"When we get to New York, I've arranged for someone to pick you up."
"Tell the driver wherever you want to go."
Anna nodded and leaned against the side, quickly drifting off to sleep.
Loki, seated across from her, remained silent, offering only a faint smile.
"Captain, any word on the Tesseract's location?"
Rogers shook his head. "Since we boarded the jet, he hasn't said a word."
Lowering his voice, Rogers said to Tony, "Something about tonight feels… too easy."
Tony understood what Rogers meant. "Doesn't matter. He's in our hands now."
"If we need to extract the Tesseract's whereabouts, let Fury handle it. He's the interrogation expert."
"Fury?"
Rogers blinked, and an image of Nick Fury's shiny bald head popped into his mind.
Black Widow, hearing the nickname, couldn't help but chuckle before pressing the comm button to connect with Fury.
"Director, we're preparing to return."
Nick Fury's voice came through. "Bring Loki back. We must locate the Tesseract."
"Understood!"
Suddenly, dark clouds gathered outside the jet, followed by the sound of thunder and lightning.
Loki instinctively shrank back at the sound.
Noticing this, Rogers smirked. "Afraid of a little thunder?"
"I'm not afraid of thunder," Loki replied calmly.
"I just have… issues with what comes with it."
Rogers didn't quite understand. Was this some kind of advanced technology he couldn't grasp?
The next moment, a heavy thud echoed from the top of the jet.
Boom!
Hearing the noise, Loki glanced at the ceiling of the jet.
"He's here…"
