Chapter 24: New York battle
It had been two days since Michael started working with his mother. The last two days had been uneventful, but he knew today would be different. Standing in his mother's office, he gazed across the two buildings in front of him. From this vantage point, he could clearly see Dr. Selvig working with the Tesseract atop Stark Tower.
"So it begins," he muttered under his breath, settling into a chair and waiting for the inevitable to unfold.
His mother was in another meeting, one Michael had decided to skip. He'd had enough of office politics over the last couple of days.
"Why are you here?" Mia asked as she entered the office, noticing Michael lounging casually on a sofa, sipping a drink.
"Preparing myself for what's to come," he replied, his tone serious.
Mia frowned, her curiosity piqued. "What do you mean?" she asked.
"The Ancient One can see the future. She saw my mother in danger," Michael explained.
Mia looked at him, her expression hardening. "So that's why you followed your mother here. The whole learning thing was just an excuse," she concluded.
Michael nodded. "Exactly. I called you there for a reason—I wanted you to learn magic and protect her," he said firmly.
Mia crossed her arms. "And I'm now strong enough to protect her," she asserted.
"That's why I involved you in the first place," Michael acknowledged. "But I can't take any risks. If it were something you could handle alone, the Ancient One wouldn't have warned me in the first place."
Mia paused for a moment before nodding. "When will she be in danger?" she asked.
"Today," Michael replied. "That's why I'm not attending the meeting. I can't afford to exhaust myself before things start."
Mia nodded silently, understanding the weight of the situation.
"I'm going near her," Mia said firmly as she turned and left.
Michael stood up, walking to the window and gazing outside.
"Time to wear my suit," he mumbled to himself.
Just as he finished speaking, a bright blue ray shot out from the machine Dr. Selvig was working on. The beam pierced the sky, and moments later, a gaping hole appeared in the atmosphere.
"If this were a normal Earth, the entire world would have been destroyed," Michael muttered. "The vacuum of space would've sucked our atmosphere right out. But nah, it's Marvel Earth."
As he spoke, he saw the Chitauri army emerging from the portal. The invasion had begun.
Michael stepped back from the window as the air around him shimmered with anticipation. The symbiote began to emerge, swirling like liquid light, flowing from his skin as if it were alive. It stretched and coiled, encasing his body in intricate patterns of white and silver, resembling the texture of a celestial armor.
The suit moved organically, wrapping around his limbs with a sentient grace, as if it were responding to his very thoughts. The chest piece formed last, glowing with a radiant golden spiral that pulsed faintly, as though a heart of energy beat within it. The mask slid up seamlessly, its smooth surface giving him an otherworldly appearance, the glowing eyes igniting with an intense, piercing light.
As the transformation completed, the cape extended like wings of cosmic energy, rippling with ethereal designs. Michael flexed his hands, the material responding instantly, almost weightless yet indestructible. He turned to the portal in the sky, ready to face the incoming Chitauri army, his form now that of a radiant guardian forged for battle.
"Now that's a beautiful suit you got," he muttered narcissistically as he looked at his reflection.

He then placed his hand on the window, phasing through it effortlessly without causing any damage. Turning back to face the white building, he began chanting softly. As he pointed toward the building, a blue magical circle materialized from his hands, expanding outward until it engulfed the entire structure in a protective barrier.
Just to ensure there were no misunderstandings, he left a glowing set of words floating outside the building, reading:
'This building is magically protected. Step outside and face the aliens at your own risk.'
"I hope the idiots inside actually read this warning," he muttered under his breath as he flew toward the portal. Mid-flight, he noticed a jet approaching from the distance. Changing course, he decided to intercept the jet and headed toward its landing point.
On the jet, Captain America, Black Widow, Hawkeye, and Iron Man had just landed when Hawkeye said, "I think we've got company."
He pointed at the screen, which showed someone approaching their location.
As the steady hum of the engines quieted down, they saw a man in a white suit with a cape, glowing with a golden light similar to Iron Man's arc reactor. He flew toward them and stopped mid-air ahead of their position. Hovering effortlessly, he raised a hand and pointed at them before speaking.
"Something tells me that this mess is caused by you lot," Michael said bluntly.
Hawkeye immediately raised his bow, arrow notched, while Black Widow assumed a ready stance, her weapons prepared.
"Who are you?" Captain America asked, motioning for his team to stand down.
"I don't have some fancy hero name like you flag-wearing champions," Michael replied coldly. "But my mother is dangerously close to that portal. If anything happens to her because of this nonsense caused by you people, you'll have far worse to worry about than these weaklings pouring out of it."
As he finished speaking, Michael gestured toward a group of Chitauri soldiers that had emerged from the portal. With a simple wave of his hand, dark energy engulfed them, crushing their bodies into dust instantly. The oppressive display of power caused Captain America and the others to tense up.
"We're not the cause of this," Steve said calmly, raising a hand. "We're here to stop it, and we'll make sure no one gets hurt."
"and we can work together to make sure of this" He added looking at Michael.
