MCU: No Limits

Chapter 6: 06

Sitting on the red sofa in his living room, Keiji was in a deep meditative state. A thin layer of aura enveloped him.

He had been training Ten since the early morning. It was the night of January 31st, a Friday, and two days after his appointment at a psychiatric clinic.

Keiji didn't do aerobic exercises that day and wouldn't do them tomorrow either.

Fridays and Saturdays were the days he reserved to rest after five days of physical exertion, as his body also needs rest.

However, the stretches he does upon waking and before sleeping still continue.

Moreover, Keiji decided that he will continue training his Nen even on days when he is relaxing.

At a certain moment, Keiji stopped meditating and lay down on the couch. He was thinking about what the abilities of his first Hatsu would be.

Hatsu is the fourth and final fundamental principle of Nen, called the principle of release. This principle is characterized by the transmission or projection of an individual's aura. This release reflects the character and will of the user outwardly.

Basically, it is a unique ability that an individual develops based on their type and is an ability that fits their personality.

There are 6 types of aura: Enhancement, Transmutation, Emission, Conjuration, Manipulation, and Specialization.

Keiji intends to develop a simple ability that does not have a limitation, condition, restriction, or oath, but is also powerful, versatile, and useful in different ways. Even abilities without oaths possess extraordinary capabilities. However, he finds it difficult to think of something truly powerful that fits these specific criteria and his personality.

If he ends up developing an ability with limitations, he thinks they would be minor limitations.

He initially thought he should copy some Hatsu, but he quickly went against that idea. The characteristics of his personality are not the same as those of the true users of these abilities, and his character and way of thinking are different from those users. So, he wouldn't be able to use those abilities in the same way.

Keiji thinks that copying such unique abilities could restrict him in some way, and he really doesn't like copies or plagiarism. He thinks about developing a skill that is truly original, or just one that is based on the abilities he saw in the manga. However, to achieve this, he should first discover what his Nen type is, even though he already has a rough idea of what it might be.

Keiji got up, went to the kitchen to grab a glass and fill it with water. After doing that, Keiji plucked a leaf from a bonsai tree that was in a pot on a shelf near the front door.

Placing the leaf on the water, Keiji watched it float. Extending his arms, he slightly curved his hands until they were in a shape similar to a shell and placed them around the cup.

After using Ren, nothing unusual happened to the water or the leaf.

The water in the glass did not overflow, so Keiji confirms that it was not an Intensifier.

No impurities appeared in the water, the color of the water did not change, and the leaf did not move or dry. According to these details, Keiji sees that he is not a Conjurer, not an Emitter, not a Manipulator, and also not a Specialist.

Hesitant, he picks up the glass and removes the leaf before drinking all the water in the glass.

His palate sensed a very, very sweet taste.

The taste of the water changed to something very similar to honey after it came into contact with his aura, but it was such a sweet taste that Keiji imagined he was drinking the bottle of honey mixed with 12 and a half spoons of sugar that his friends had dared him to drink once.

Wiping the remnants of the water from his lips with the back of his hand, Keiji licked his lips.

"The taste of the water has changed. So, I'm a Transmuter..." He said in a low voice, winking before smiling. "It's no surprise."

One of the main characteristics of Keiji's personality is that he tends to lie and hide his true intentions from certain people, especially when talking to strangers. Moreover, he understands that he has some strange habits and attitudes.

When he does or thinks something he considers very inappropriate or makes a tasteless joke about a serious subject, he gives himself a hard slap on the face as a form of self-punishment. He started licking his lips whenever he drank something sweet, and initially, he wasn't aware of it until his friends told him.

Transmuters are described as great liars, unpredictable, tricksters, and with very strange behaviors. Transmutation is the individual's ability to transform the properties of their aura so that it mimics the properties of something else. For this reason, things created through transmutation are purely made of aura.

Keiji's personality fits into this category, as he had already imagined, but these are not all the characteristics he possesses. He is also sensitive, caring, analytical, meticulous, hardworking, and patient.

Being a genius is not among his characteristics. He doesn't consider himself intelligent, he just puts effort into certain areas.

He took an IQ test in his previous life, and his result was 107 points.

In summary, Keiji has an IQ that is approximately between 90 and 110 points. This means that he has normal or average intelligence, according to the tests he took early on.

In his adolescence, his school report card had grades considered below average before he began following a strict study routine based on memorization. His grades improved later on, but he never found studying to be something interesting. He always preferred to research what truly interests him, like the lyrics of a song he has never heard or curiosities about different species of birds and marine animals.

Philosophy has never interested Keiji, even though he earned a degree in that field from a prestigious university. Keiji doesn't think being philosophical about the different aspects of life would be of much help in making money.

Since Keiko is not in a condition to work, Keiji wants her to stay at home for an indefinite period. Keiji wants his sister to enjoy her well-deserved and long vacation. So, he thinks about finding a job that legally pays a child like him in some way.

When he is at home, Keiji is not really idle. The house is clean and well-organized because he himself started sweeping and mopping the floor regularly, even though it was difficult to hold a broom or a mop with his size.

Yesterday, his sister said she saw a cockroach running across the floor, coming out from behind the refrigerator. Knowing that cockroaches could crawl into his precious food, Keiji scoured every corner of the house holding insecticides. He embarked on a frenzied killing spree, exterminating the cockroaches from his house forever.

And if cockroaches were in his house, in some damp place lived the scorpions.

Knowing this, Keiji hunted down all the scorpions that had made their home in the bathroom and in some other discreet places, but that had moisture.

"I... I need a simple job that a child can do without being scolded or reprimanded, but that also produces some money." He said, thoughtfully. "Ah, maybe I should go back to selling juices in traffic?"

But Keiji realized that this idea wouldn't work. He could indirectly cause an accident if he sold juice and the person who bought it got distracted while driving. Moreover, he risked being run over. He doesn't want to go back to the hospital.

"But there are so many fruits here and I can't eat them all, there will be more than I need. I have to think of something I can do with them before they rot, and quickly." Thought Keiji, with his face buried in a pillow, lying face down on the couch. "... Ugh, shit."

Keiji thinks that selling something like juice at a time when winter hasn't ended yet would be a foolish decision. He also thought about making popsicles with those fruits, but it wouldn't work for the same reason. The days between the months of December and February are cold around here, and Keiji believes that people would hardly buy refreshing things like juices, popsicles, or ice creams when it's not summer.

"Maybe I should make something... something sweet?"

Thinking about what he could do with the excess fruit, Keiji imagined that making sweets would be a good idea.

He knows how to make chocolates, cookies, cakes, and other types of sweets because he worked in a family-owned candy store in his first life. In fact, Keiji always found it ironic that his parents were certified nutritionists but made and sold sweets at a modest candy shop for most of the year.

Keiji still considers them his parents, even if he can never see them again.

His consciousness reached his new body instantly, right after he died. At least, he thinks he died. Keiji has no memories of how he arrived in this reality. He believes he had gone to sleep and woke up here, in this part of the infinite multiverse.

Keiji doesn't think he's in some dream induced by the coma. Everything in this place is too real for it to be something his brain is creating. He feels his own breath, tastes the food he eats, feels the beats of his heart. He feels that he is alive, just like the people he observes.

"Lives are as big as dreams, after all." He says, smiling a small smile. "Wait... Size. God, why didn't I think of that?"

Keiji thought he could make these sweets as easily as possible, but he realized he was mistaken. He is short and his hands are too small. He can barely reach a doorknob, what should he do at a table that seems as high as a brick wall?

He would have difficulty holding kitchen utensils that are larger than his fist, even if he stood on a stool to reach a height greater than the table.

However, he also thought that looking for a job or someone to hire him would be useless. Minors under 18 can indeed work here, but only in simple and non-hazardous jobs. Moreover, the minimum permitted age must not be less than 14 years.

That's why Keiji was thinking about working for himself, instead of following someone else's orders. He basically wants to be his own boss.

"And if I developed something... something opposite, but that works based on the same molds?"

"It could work... No, it will work."

"And I'm going to need some bigger clothes for it to really work."
