Chapter 15: USJ part 1
Running and stumbling through the trees, they got deeper into the forest. He was hyper-aware of everything, every animal, every sound, and every smell. He knew they were coming closer but he also knew escape was everything but possible. He also knew he didn't want to go back, no, he couldn't go back he had an important mission and he was determined to see it through to the bitter end. If he had to give his life to succeed, so be it.
He squeezed the little hand he was holding. No matter what, she came first, her life, her safety that was all that mattered, not him, never him. But he also knew he didn't have any chance to win not against HIM. He would resist and offer her a chance to escape, he would hold them all back if he had to, if only she got the chance.
Even with his hyper-awareness, it was too late, he was standing in front of them. He tried to fight, he really did, any other day, he would only have to worry about him, not the butlers, but they had somehow blocked his NEN, and wasn't that just great? Killua was evidently weaponless, things only got worse from there. Pain blooming everywhere but as always, he ignored it and kept going. Fighting trying to give to one of his most important people the chance to run.
The next thing he knew, he was holding her hand, trying and failing to keep her in the realm of the living with him. He saw as her body slowly cracked and through the cracks dust emerge, until finally, finally, she was nothing but small speckles of dust flowing in the atmosphere.
His eyes flew open, as his hand was extended trying to grasp something that wasn't there, he was aware of the wetness on his face but that simply didn't matter not at the moment, like every night he kept dreaming of her, but unlike most nights it wasn't her happy face, it wasn't like he liked to remember her. Instead, it was her body as it turned to dust, her sacrifice for his life, his weakness, and failure. His worst moment and his life were filled with them, after all, you don't become a master assassin without bleeding, sweating, and spilling tears of pain and misery. The misery he always hid behind smiles and laughter, a misery that almost consumed him had he not met Gon and learned how to be a friend, how to be kind, and how to be happy.
Not wanting to stay trapped within the four walls of his room, he got up and walked towards the living room, looking at the clock reading four fifty-eight he supposed Shota was asleep, or he had patrol, either way, he was all by himself, and that allowed dark thoughts to plummet in his head.
The television offered him little to no distraction from the darkest part of him, of his darkest memories, but nevertheless, it was a distraction.
Apparently, Shota was out on patrol, he came in dragging his feet. He looked exhausted, but even so, he only had to glance at Killua, before going to the kitchen and making hot cocoa for both of them. After making them, he gave one to Killua who accepted with a small thank you. They sat together drinking in the silence and watching silly tv shows, until finally, Killua talked.
Killua: How was patrol?
Shota: It was okay, a few robberies, but nothing major. Are you feeling any better?
Killua: A little bit
Shota: Want to talk about it?
Killua: No, not really. So, about the robberies…
It was obvious Killua wanted Shota to keep distracting him with conversation, and he was more than happy to oblige. So, he talked. He told him about his patrol, he told him about his high school days with Oboro and Yamada, his family and his own drama, the emotional abuse, and neglect he suffered from his parents, and how he started his career. He talked for hours until Killua's dead stare went away and life returned to his sapphire eyes and even then, he kept talking.
Breakfast came around, and Killua was the one to prepare it as Shota was taking a shower. He felt somewhat bad for keeping Shota awake when he was obviously tired. But considering his sweet tooth, he thought Pancakes could make everything better even exhaustion, of course, he hadn't really felt tired since he came to this world, he slept every day a few hours, much better than his sleep schedule back at his world, where he only slept three to five hours a week, after all, Killua was trained to stay awake for days but that didn't mean he didn't get tired.
After breakfast, they went to a coffee shop and each got a coffee, since they were out and needed to restoke a few things, but decided to do it after school. They walked for a bit to take some air and as Shota drank his coffee, he left a pleasant sigh, coffee for him was like chocolate for Killua, he considered it to be a drink made from heaven, Killua would disagree and counter with a milkshake.
Eventually, it was time to go to school, and unlike other times he got there with Shota. It wasn't the first time Killua had an episode, this one was easy to deal with, there were times when he had panic attacks and couldn't breathe, and there were times where he had flashbacks, those times he completely zoned out, living, again and again, his assassin life and Shota would be by his side, he would be his anchor, keeping him grounded.
They talked about therapy but they through the idea out of the window since Killua's dimensional travel was meant to be kept secret. Instead, he opened up to Shota, and slowly he got better. It was a long process and still is, but he will get better, after all, despite all his trauma he kept smiling for a long while and not all of them were fake. The same applied now as well.
Some students eyed them as they walked together to the teacher's office, but most wrote it off. Killua left a breath he didn't know he was holding when he saw the empty office.
Aizawa: You can sit on the couch 'till classes begin.
Killua: If you need anything nudge. -he said as he put on his headphones and listened to music while reading comics on his phone. In the meantime, Shota was reading and signing the papers Nezu had prepared for him, as he was reading his stomach curled in both nervousness and happiness, it was after all a big change-
People started coming in, some looked at Killua curiously but chose to let him be. Aizawa stole glances at him from time to time to check on him. He would also need his signature.
Present Mic: Hey Sho, what are you doing?
Shota: Just reading some papers. Something wrong with the kid? -He asked noticing Yamada's eyes on Killua-
Present Mic: No, I've just been wondering why is he here. He doesn't seem to be in trouble.
Shota: He's not
Present Mic: So, why is he here?
Shota: Just wanted to keep an eye on him and make sure he's okay
Present Mic: I've never seen you be that close with a student before.
Shota: Check what I'm signing and DON'T make a fuss. -Present Mic, raised an eyebrow at his best friend's comment, but nevertheless, he complied, picking some of the papers and skimming through them, finally reading what Shota assumed to be the adoption part, his eyes bulged, and Shota barely managed to keep him quiet- I said don't make a fuss. -Killua was looking at them with a raised eyebrow, getting up, he moved towards them-
Killua: Everything alright? -He asked as he picked one of the many papers- Ahh, I see… Are you also preparing the file?
Shota: Yes, I was planning to have you sign them later in the day, then send them to get approved.
Killua: Hmm, I can sign them now.
Shota: Don't you want to read them first? -Shota asked taking his hand off from Yamada's mouth, whom his jaw had dropped by now-
Killua: Nah, I trust you. -Those three words, send Shota Aizawa spiraling, it was a big deal to gain Killua's full trust, and for him to trust Shota so much… well it meant a lot. He decided there and then that he would do anything for this kid, his kid-
Yamada: You-You're becoming a father?! -Yamada yelled unable to keep quiet anymore, causing everyone to stare at them with wide eyes-
Shota: So much for not making a scene…
King Vlad: Congratulations
Snipe: Didn't know you were married…
Shota: I'm not…
Nemuri: Bad boy huh?? -She said licking her lips and sending shivers to Shota's spine-
Killua: If you consider adoption a bad boy's act, then sure -he said as he signed the papers-
Nemuri: Wait… adopting?? Him?
Killua: Hey, what's wrong with me?
Yamada: How did you even decide? When did you two meet?
Shota: He's been living with me for a few months now.
Yamada: Why didn't you tell me, and here I thought we were friends. Look at this being betrayed by my best friend… He's becoming a father and didn't tell me-Yamada said with crocodile tears-
Shota: His situation had and still is complicated.
Snipe: Complicated??
Killua: I was born in a family of villains, I run away and they didn't like it.
Nemuri: Why weren't we aware of this? This is a BIG deal.
Toshinori: His situation is very delicate
Yamada: You knew??
Shota: He was the kid we found… and then apparently lost.
Killua: Sorry about that.
Vlad king: Are they coming after you?
Killua: Possibly, they had pretty big expectations.
Shota: I'll fill you in the details later -He said as he picked the signed papers and prepared the file-
The rest of U.A.'s personnel exchanged glances but reluctantly returned to their seats, while Shota fill in Toshinori about Killua's fake 'villain family' situation.
When Killua entered the classroom Ida was already on his feet ready to reprimand him for his tardiness, but he stopped short when he saw Aizawa-sensei entering behind Killua.
Killua: Hey Sho -Killua whispered to Shoto as he sat down-
Shoto: Good morning… Are you alright?
Killua: I've been better and I've been worst. You don't look good either, Is something troubling you?
Shoto seemed to hesitate before nodding.
Shoto: Daddy issues.
Killua: Ahh… when you're ready to have that talk you know where to find me.
Shoto: The next seat? -that earned a silent chuckle from Killua- The same applies to you, you know.
Killua: I know…
The rest of the day continued like that, Killua remained for the most part silent unless he got addressed, something that raised many eyebrows. It was obvious that something was bothering him, especially when his mood started to drop slowly.
At lunchtime, he and Shoto found Wendy as promised. Some other kids from class 1-b were there, a girl with ginger hair in a side ponytail and green eyes, another girl with short black hair and dark eyes, a boy with silver hair and a reparative name that reminded both Killua and Shoto a little too much of Kirishima and finally a girl with vines as hair. Killua also signals his group of friends to come over, Denki, Kyoka, Kirishima, and Momo. Having lunch with them did a great deal to his spirit.
After lunch, it was time for the heroics class.
Aizawa: For today's hero basic training, it's turned into a class with three instructors All Might, me, and one more person.
-Three instructors?? Someone whispered.
- Excuse me, what will be doing? -Ask a student, and Aizawa showed them a card that read RESCUE,
Aizawa: Disasters, Shipwrecks, and everything in between. It's a rescue lesson.
This caused a few excited whispers from everyone.
Shoto: Sounds interesting.
Killua: That's the whole deal of being a hero.
Aizawa: Hey, I'm not done yet. -Everyone got startled and stared at their sensei with a speck of fear in their eyes, not everyone knew how big of a softy their cruel teacher really was- You can decide if you want to wear your costume or not this time. Because these are probably costumes that limit your abilities, too. The training will take place off-campus, so we're taking a bus. That is all, Start getting ready.

Tsu: I say whatever comes to mind…Midoriya
Izuko: Uhmm, Asui-chan -he said nervous and red-faced-
Tsu: Call me Tsu… Your quirk is like All Might's. -she said making Midoriya sweat bullets, while Killua was silently laughing earning yet another raised eyebrow from Shoto-
Shoto: Sometimes you're creeping me out…
Killua: Geez, thanks Sho… Shota and I signed the adoption papers, now we are just waiting for the decision. -He told him with some hesitation, his voice only loud enough for Shoto, who's eyes was wide with surprise, then a small hardly visible smile decorated his features-
Shoto: Those are great news.
Killua: Yeah, but we still have to wait for the decision.
Shoto: I'm sure it will pass. -They were pulled from their conversation with Kirishima-
Kirishima: You gotta admit though, our class's greatest mystery is our class rep.
Denki: Seriously dude, what's your quirk??
Killua: Not telling you~~ he said in a singsong voice.
Aizawa: We're here, stop messing around. -Aizawa said before anyone could voice their displeasure-
??- Everyone I've been waiting for you. -And as always Midoriya got in his fan-boyish zone and started mumbling- Now, let's get inside without any more delays.
As they got inside the building they saw a shipwreck, a landslide, a small city on fire, and many other disastrous sites, making their jaws drop.
Denki: Wow, it looks like USJ!!!
Thirteen: A shipwreck, a landslide a fire and etc. It is a training ground that I made for different types of accidents and disasters. It's called the 'Unforeseen Stimulation Joint'. Or U.S.J. for short.
Killua: It really is USJ -he said what everyone thought, meanwhile Shota and thirteen were discussing All Might's absence-
Thirteen: Let's see… before we begin, let me say one thing… er two or three… or five, six, seven.
Shoto: It's increasing
Thirteen: Everyone, I'm sure you are aware of my quirk, black hole. I can suck up everything and turn it into dust. -they said making Killua flinch at the word dust-
Midoriya: You've been able to use that quirk to save people from all types of disasters, right?
Thirteen: Yes, but it is a power that could kill easily. -Almost everyone expressed their surprise at that- Some of you also have quirks like that, right? In a superhuman society, personal quirks have been certified and stringently regulated, so that doesn't seem to be a problem at first glance. However, please do not forget that there are many quirks that can easily kill with one wrong step. With Aizawa's physical fitness test, you find out about the possibility of your own hidden powers, and with All Might's person-to-person combat training, I think you experienced the danger of using these powers against others. This class is a fresh start. You shall learn how to use your quirks to save people's lives. You do not have powers so you can harm others. I hope you leave here with the understanding that you have powers in order to help others. That Is all thank you for listening.
Something was wrong. First, he felt the electricity in the air multiplying, and then the lights, fountain, and everything electricity based shat down. Then he felt it again, that same malicious aura, as a purple vortex opened in the middle of USJ and multiple people with ill intent and bloodlust stepped into the school ground. Their time was up, the villains were making their move.
