Chapter 111: Provisional Hero License Exam Arc (2)

~Ren Y. POV~

[Takoba National Stadium, Japan]

With me finishing up my plan to then a sound flared inside the lecture hall. We were soon all paid attention to what was happening.

*BEEEP*

The sounds of speakers flared as a person wearing a suit on the podium began to speak in a tired tone, "Right… The provisional licensing exam. That's what you're here for. Yeah… I'm Mera with the Heroes Public Commission. My favorite type of sleep is non-rem sleep. Nice to meet you all. Work is so busy that I barely get any sleep! We're staffed… I just wanna sleep! With that important information out of the way, let me explain the exam."

I couldn't help but think he was not even trying to hide his exhaustion at all. Is this guy okay?

However, Mera began to discuss the rules of the exam in a tired tone, looking down at everyone present, "Getting right to it… all 1,540 examinees present will be competing in one massive free-for-all exercise! Simple right? Today's society is saturated with heroes, and ever since Stain's capture, plenty of people out there have raised doubts about the role heroes should play. That said… as far as individual motivations aside, telling those who risk their lives to save others from asking for nothing in return… would be rather harsh, especially in modern society… so whether it's done for compensation or out of dedication to the cause, we have no shortage of heroes out there working to save people and put villains away."

Waiting for everyone to listen to his words, Mera sighed with a yawn, continuing to speak in a tired tone, "Nowadays, the amount of time it takes to resolve any given incident is incredibly short. Those of you who earn your provisional licenses will be confronting such situations that unfold at a breakneck pace. Those who can't keep are doomed to fail. Which is why we're testing you on speed! Only the first 100 examinees to meet the requirements will pass."

That was when someone yelled out loud at the rule Mera placed, whining, "Hold on!! With 1,540 of us total, that's not even close to half!!"

*Beep*

The TV screen behind Mera turned on, showing the rules as he explained in a tired tone, holding a ball and holster, "Society is rarely so kind… there's no relying on luck. Now… the passing requirements involve these. Each examinee will get three targets. Place them wherever you like on your body, so long as they are exposed. That means no soles of the feet and no armpits. Each of you will also carry six balls. The targets are rigged to light up only when struck by a ball. You're disqualified the instant that all 3 of your targets are lit. Those with three illuminated targets are considered defeated. To pass, you must 'defeat' two other examinees. That's it for the rules."

Soon, the HPSC goons began to come inside holding boxes containing the items as Mera continued explaining in a tired tone, "Yes… so we'll be handing out balls and targets once this place opens up. The exam will begin one minute after all examinees are fully equipped."

*RRMBB*

He pressed a button on the desk, and the walls began to slip off with a jarring buzz, revealing the stadium and surprising everyone in the scene. The inside of the stadium arena of the stadium features a forest and waterfall, an urban city, a highway bridge, tall Rocky Mountains, and an industrial factory.

I'm guessing this allows for the students to fight on the terrain they're comfortable with in this situation. That was when Mera spoke up in a tired tone, yawning out loud, "With every type of landscape available, you should all be able to find areas suited to you. Make the best use of your talents. We've carefully thought about all factors as we came up with these environments… what a drag. So much sleep lost…"

The staff handed out the targets and balls to the participants as a minute countdown started, I began my plan, noticing some of the other students from other Hero Schools gazing at us.

I smirked as I began to use my [New Order] as the timer began, I muttered, activating my Quirk in a confident tone, "I can paralyze my enemies in place upon sight. I can empower my allies upon sight."

Closing my eyes, I began to use [Create], creating two discs of mirrors I tossed them to Ochaco and said bluntly, "Ochaco, can you use your Quirk to toss them up? This will be done in a jiffy."

She nodded using her [Zero Gravity] as the counter hit zeros all the teams turned to us with eager grins as I opened my eyes to mirror, their bodies stopped immediately, stopping them in their tracks. Not only that, but my classmates also glowed them as Denki muttered in surprise, "Holy…! I feel a lot stronger than before. Hey, Class Rep, how the heck are you doing this?!"

I smirked as I answered in a confident tone, having used one of my clones to tag my targets, "I can explain later. How about we go take our two targets each before any of their classmates realize what's happened!"

Following my words, they began to tag their targets easily, with Bakugo grinning happily, tagging the pretty boy earlier, Shindo. Not gonna lie I would've done the same, but my target was Inasa just to avoid the fucking drama that happens.

One by one, all the UA students passed. Man, those poor bastards are done for as this was a breeze.

[Lecture Hall, Takoba National Stadium, Japan]

Reaching the lecture hall, we all passed as everyone breathed a sigh of relief. Of course, Izuku was first to ask in an excited tone, "Ren! Did you manage to get an eyesight-based Quirk? Or was it something – "

However, Bakugo managed to shut him up as he crossed his arms and yelled, "Shut it, Deku! Let the man explain!"

Having all eyes on me, I coughed into my hand, taking a seat, feeling tired from using [New Order] on that number of people in a calm tone, "Thank you, Bakugo. Now, to begin with, the new Quirk I used that I got from America was the first Actualization Type Quirk. From the number 1 hero of America Quirk."

Their eyes widened at that, with Izuku looking confused, tilting his head. Right, he doesn't know I explained this to the group, and he wasn't around.

But Tokoyami soon spoke up curiously, asking with a raised eyebrow, "I see… so you have grown much stronger while you were in America. Was it because of your identity being revealed?"

Mentioning my connection to All Might, I nodded my head. Tokoyami isn't wrong since the incident of All Might's protégé being me spread across the world, Nezu did want me to go to America to get [New Order]. This was a private thing going on for me that nobody other than a few others knew about.

With the exception being my classmates since they would be asking where I've been after the Kamino Nightmare. But soon, Mina asked in an excited tone about the trip, "So… how was America like? Did you see some of the best sites or areas?"

That was when Izuku asked curiously with shiny eyes asking about the hero in America. Star and Stripes excitedly said, "Oh! What was Star and Stripes like? And what were the heroes of America like?"

Denki soon came up to me, jabbing my arm as he cheekily said in an eager tone, "Come on, man? Tell us, did you see any American hot babes?"

I was soon in the limelight of attention as I began to answer my classmate's questions. But I saw Bakugo and Shoto gazing at me with an unknown expression.

I suppose they're trying to see where they stand against me as I continue to grow stronger. That was when Denki said in a defeated tone, "Man Class Rep, the more Quirks you get, the farther you become. I don't think any of us can catch to your level."

I shook my head as I decided to give them a way to get stronger. I soon began to explain as this caught Shoto and Bakugo's attention in a calm tone, "No. I don't think you guys could… unless you can somehow unlock a Quirk Awakening. Then you guys would have a better chance against me."

They all tilted their heads as Izuku froze what I was suggesting as they said, "Quirk Awakening?"

I smiled internally, seeing I got their attention. Time to use Kyudai Garaki knowledge and enlighten my classmates of the possibility…

~Yokumiru M. POV~

[Takoba National Stadium, Japan]

Sigh…

Sighing out loud, I'm so dead tired. But the President did say to keep an eye on Ren Yuki, the proclaimed Successor of All Might.

Observing the field, it didn't take minutes, only a few seconds, for the entirety of UA students to be able to pass. How ironic that the usual traditional UA crushing was turned over its head on the students wanting to crush them.

I saw how the number of students against UA got crushed easily. They froze in place with the kid, just seeing them be paralyzed, another Quirk, he added.

Sigh… these kids sure are bursting with youthful energy…

There's a weird anomaly emerging this time, though… every year it's an uphill battle for poor UA but they haven't lost a single examinee yet.

And probably never will this time with that kid leading them. The kid has leadership material upon just seeing him and his actions.

He has experience handling pressure. And the fact the kid was the one who caused me trouble for being overworked with the Lady Nagant incident.

Add to the fact that he also added more problems for me in the paperwork department of the scandal of the previous president of the HPSC. I didn't like the massive paperwork and my sleep time taken away from me.

Tch. Not only that, but his feats are something to recognize.

Helped solve the issue of the attacks on the USJ, Hero Killer, I-Island, and Kamino Incidents. Each is reaching their escalating problems and managing to solve them like a hero would.

And that's him in his teens, surely growing stronger. He is probably not at his peak form, which would give rise to issues that the HPSC can't control.

To be fair though the HPSC can't control that brat to their whims. Not when he saved All Might from All for One.

It took their combined might to defeat that monster. Imagine the whole world's shock, though, when they heard from the villain's mouth his All Might's protégé only for the hero to confirm it.

I swore I think I saw the President grow a few gray hair strands from that. Whatever the case, maybe he is on our side and hopefully stays that way.

I should prepare for the next exam. One that would finally give me some peace of sleep as I twisted my head over to them, "You'd better get ready to move. Round two of this test… is on you guys!"

The elderly and actors we hired are prepared. Let's see how the newbies handle this. Now… where's that pillow so I can sleep?
