MHA: Mewtwo

Chapter 14: XIV: festival 1

Fifteen days passed in the blink of an eye. After two weeks of intense training, everyone was finally ready. In Snipe's words, they were more than prepared to at least make it to the third round—unless they were extremely unlucky and something unexpected happened.

In the last fiften days, other than training, the students decided his class representative, it was Mirio, the only one who selfproposed.

Other than that, Each student had put in extra hours to prepare for the upcoming festival, determined to show their best. Most of them didn't even interact much apart from consecutive sparring matches.

Many had spent their time studying footage of previous festivals, eager to learn what to expect. One event, in particular, stood out—a recurring highlight every year: the "tournament." It was a battle exhibition where students showcased their skills. Curious, they approached their teacher, Snipe, to ask about it.

Snipe commended their initiative, calling their preparation admirable. He explained that the sports festival held significant weight, especially for the hero course students. This was the moment when pro heroes evaluated their potential, offering internships to those who stood out. For many, this event was a critical stepping stone in their journey to becoming professional heroes.

And now, the day had come, and they found themselves waiting in the event stadium. Yet calling it a "stadium" felt like an understatement. The venue was enormous—easily twice the size of any regular stadium, its scale felt intimidating for the participants.

The students were divided into four groups, each buzzing with a mix of anticipation and nervous energy. Through the walls, they could faintly hear the crowd roaring in excitement as Present Mic's unmistakable voice boomed across the stadium. his energetic introduction set the tone for the festival, hyping the audience with his signature flair:

"laaadies and gentlemen, are you ready for the greatest show of the year? welcome to the u.a. sports festival! get ready to witness our students push their limits, defy expectations, and show you what the future of heroism looks like!"

"to start this big event, we will begin with the clasiiiic words of out first year first place in the entrance exaaam, pleaseee step to the escenary, "amakijiiiiii tamaakiiiiii"" with present mic words, the whole 1-A class got uterly silent, they didn't knew about this.

Everyone knew how shy Tamaki was, and asking him to step up wasn't going to be easy on him. Raiden, holding back a laugh, patted the boy on the back before gently pushing him forward.

Tamaki walked like a stiff robot, his gaze firmly fixed on the ground, avoiding the crowd's eyes. Step by step, he approached the stage at the center of the stadium. Picking up the microphone with trembling hands, he stood there frozen for a whole three minutes.

The silence was so thick it could've been cut with a knife. Finally, he broke it with a quiet, almost inaudible mutter: "I wanna go home." With that, he stepped off the stage.

As he walked away, a burst of laughter erupted from Class 1-A. They understood Tamaki well, and, oddly enough, his awkward statement managed to dissolve the heavy nervousness that had been lingering in the air.

Taking advantage of the lighter mood, Present Mic's energetic voice boomed across the stadium. "There you have it! I didn't understand a word, but Tamaki, our first place, just encouraged his classmates! a man of few words, but incredibly effective!"

The pro hero didn't skip a beat as he continued, "now, ladies and gentlemen, let's move on to our first competition! this sports festival will feature all first-year students from the hero course—1-a and 1-b—as well as general studies, the support course, and the business course!"" His energy was infectious, charging the stadium with excitement.

"for your first challenge, we present... the teleport labyrinth! Each student will start from a different point within the maze. This competition will test how swiftly you can navigate to the center. But be warned! the path will be filled with obstacles—from enemies to decoy teleport devices!" Present Mic's voice was electric as he detailed the rules.

"points will be awarded in order of arrival! However, the first six places will pass straight into the third round, now now, everyone, head to your starting points and get ready to begin! because the competition won't wait" With his final words, the students surprised dispersed to their positions.

The groups were large, and in Raiden's group, there was only Tamaki. He stood against a wall, mumbling something under his breath, seemingly even shyer after his "speech."

Raiden, however, simply patted his friend on the back. "You'll be fine," he said with a grin, focusing on the start line. Above the stadium, three black dots lit up in sequence: the first turned red, then the second, and finally, the last one flashed green. A loud buzzer sounded across the arena—it was the signal to begin.

The students dashed into the labyrinth, its tall cement walls towering over them like a fortress. Raiden didn't waste a moment, immediately activating his transformation. But this time, something was different. As he transformed, a brilliant symbol—a glowing number six—appeared on his forearm, radiating light, the experience of every battle against his classmates over the past month and a half condensed in this bright number.

The transformation resembled a sleek, powerful creature. Gray fur covered most of his body, while a purplish tail swayed behind him, emanating energy. Instead of ears, two prominent horns jutted from his head, giving him an imposing appearance. His eyes glowed faintly, exuding both intelligence and raw power.

Raiden could feel the energy surging through him. Without hesitation, he launched himself forward, ready to face whatever challenges awaited in the labyrinth. As soon as he entered, the boy instinctively tried to fly, aiming to soar above the maze and quickly reach its center. However, the moment he rose into the air, a powerful sound wave echoed around him and slammed him back to the ground.

Present Mic's voice immediately boomed through the stadium speakers.

""ouch, ouch! be careful! you can't fly above the labyrinth or pass through its walls. if you do, the consequences won't be pretty! you'll lose 100 points per second! sorry to break it to you, Raiden and Mirio, but both of you just got a -100 point penalty!" exclaimed Present Mic, his tone equal parts teasing and authoritative.

Raiden groaned at the announcement. The test had barely started, and he was already in last place. "Well, at least I'm not alone," he muttered with a small chuckle, glancing toward Mirio's group. Determined to recover, Raiden kept flying, but this time, he hovered just above the ground, careful not to rise too high.

After a few sharp turns, he realized something unsettling, he just teleported into two different places in an instant wiouth knowing why—he was utterly lost. "A maze... of course, it had to be a maze," he grumbled, looking around for any clues. Resigning himself to his predicament, he pressed forward until he stumbled upon a glowing white circle on the ground. Curious, he stepped onto it.

In an instant, the circle activated, and he was teleported to a different section of the labyrinth again. the first two time Raiden didn't noticed he touched the plataforms, and now the abrupt shift disoriented him for a moment, but after a few more twists and turns, something caught his eye. On the ceiling, he noticed a sign with bold letters:

"Right Way, Difficult Path. Each Touch = -100 Points."

Raiden furrowed his brows, unsure of what it meant. Tentatively, he approached the hallway ahead, and suddenly, a shimmering web of lasers materialized before him—his first obstacle.

He stared at the intricate laser grid, realizing that touching any of the beams would deduct precious points. "Great," he muttered. Taking a deep breath, he activated his Laser Focus, sharpening his perception, looking for weak points but nothing.

Decided he needed to keept going, Time seemed to slow as his adrenaline kicked in. Every movement became deliberate, every breath measured.

With a combination of physical effort and psychic precision, Raiden maneuvered through the web of lasers. Gracefully and methodically, he twisted, ducked, and floated past each beam, his psychic powers guiding his body with pinpoint accuracy.

It took him five painstaking minutes to navigate through the challenge, emerging unscathed on the other side. Without pausing, he broke into a run, determined to make up for lost time. After several more minutes, and a dozen of teleport circles, after finally memorizing the patterns, Raiden arrived at a clearing—a large, open room within the maze.

The space was eerily quiet. He scanned the area, but nothing stood out. Still, his instincts told him something was here. "Think, Raiden, think," he whispered to himself, his eyes darting around for any hidden threats or clues.

"There," muttered the boy as he noticed a strange pattern etched into the otherwise pristine walls. As he cautiously approached, his foot suddenly pressed down on something. The floor beneath him clicked ominously, and a hidden door slid open in the wall. From within came a low, eerie noise that sent chills down Raiden's spine.

What emerged was a massive, mechanical scorpion—a hulking black creature forged entirely of metal, not it wasn't only metal, it was smilar to plastic, maybe carbon fiber. Its joints screeched with each rugged movement, and its segmented tail swayed menacingly, poised to strike directly at Raiden.

Outside the labyrinth, Present Mic's voice continued narrating the events with fervor, while the audience gasped at the sight of the imposing creature. Among the crowd, whispers spread like wildfire, with some spectators nervously wondering if the boy would be okay. Raiden's family, seated near the front, wore expressions of deep concern as they watched the scene unfold.

But their worry turned to astonishment as Raiden launched himself into the air without hesitation, hurtling toward the mechanical beast. The scorpion reacted immediately, striking at him with its lethal tail.

Midair, Raiden twisted and dodged the incoming attacks with precision. His sharp gaze locked onto the creature, analyzing every detail of its movements. The scorpion's strikes were relentless, its tail and claws working in tandem to corner and snare him. Yet Raiden moved fluidly, evading with remarkable grace while searching for an opening.

"This thing is way stronger and faster than the robots from the entrance exam," he muttered under his breath, frustration mounting as he realized just how formidable his opponent was. Despite the barrage of attacks, Raiden's focus remained unbroken, determined to find a way to turn the tide and eliminate this obstacle.

Raiden darted toward the scorpion once more. As one of its massive claws lunged at him, Raiden raised his hand, focused his power, and muttered, "Confusion."

The scorpion's trajectory shifted under the psychic force, but the claw didn't break, only bent a little, its attack veering off-course. Raiden seized the opportunity to advance, slipping past the reach of its claws. Now, only the formidable tail remained between him and the door. The sharp, menacing tip of the appendage arced toward him with deadly precision.

"Let's try this new trick" Raiden muttered, determination flashing in his eyes.

In a blur of motion, he spun his body with exceptional speed, planting one foot firmly on the ground. As the tail neared, he directed his right leg toward the attack, channeling his energy and muttering, "Mega Kick."

His leg glowed with an intense white light, and the force behind the kick doubled in speed. Raiden's strike connected with the scorpion's tail, and the impact broke the metallic appendage. and the remaining part of the tail swerved just inches away from him, slamming into the ground and carving a deep gouge in the earth.

Without hesitation, Raiden surged forward, gripping the scorpion's head with both hands. He concentrated his psychic energy once more, muttering "Confusion" again.

Two waves of psychic force radiated from his palms, striking the scorpion squarely in the head. The mechanical beast's head shattered under the impact, and its movements ceased entirely. The defeated scorpion collapsed with a heavy thud.

Raiden exhaled a satisfied hum and pressed onward, stepping past the defeated machine. Beyond the wreckage, he found another door. Without a second thought, he entered and paused, his eyes widening in surprise.

He stood at the entrance of a long, pristine hallway, stretching at least thirty meters. On the sides of his door, five additional doors lined the walls. But what truly caught his attention were the people emerging from those doors—six others in total.

"Rai-kun!" a familiar voice called. It was Mirio, "Did you also fight a giant bug?" Mirio asked

Raiden glanced around, spotting several of his classmates and a few unfamiliar faces, likely students from Class 2-A. He didn't answer their questions. Instead, realization dawned on him: this was the final lap.

His gaze hardened as he made his decision—there was no time for chatter. Summoning his telekinetic powers to their fullest extent, Raiden executed a twofold strategy. First, he propelled himself forward, flying at full speed. Second, he unleashed his powers to pin the other competitors to the ground, immobilizing them.

The sudden attack took everyone by surprise, but they quickly recovered. Most broke free of Raiden's telekinetic grip and began their pursuit. The hallway turned into a battlefield, with each competitor using their abilities to hinder the others. In the chaos, the race narrowed down to five contenders: four from Class 1-A and two from Class 1-B.

Raiden, now in the lead, used Confusion repeatedly to shatter the floor behind him, creating obstacles for his pursuers. However, Mirio passed through the debris effortlessly, phasing through every barrier with ease. Nejire, who appeared out of nowhere flying just behind Raiden, remained undeterred as well.

Raiden glanced back and saw another competitor closing in—it was Tamaki, also airborne. Gritting his teeth, Raiden hurled objects at them using his telekinesis. The tactic worked to slow most of them down, except for one.

Mirio charged ahead, laughing as though none of it fazed him. The final stretch—just 100 meters—came down to two frontrunners: Raiden and Mirio.
