Chapter 24: "A Real Queen"
Its been a full week since the attack from volpina and I've been making progress with the two rich girls
Although Kagami rarely every has free time we still talk occasionally and during one of those 'exciting conversation' she mentions she received an allowance of around 2.5k biweekly.
I'd decided to push a little and ask for a bit and she'd seemed open to the idea, since she never had the time to properly use it especially with a friend. this was a big bonus for me but what really made my life all the more sweeter was Chloe.
-----------------------
The warm, golden light of the Parisian afternoon filtered through Chloe's pristine, luxurious living room. Everything in her home screamed opulence, from the imported marble floors to the handcrafted chandelier hanging overhead. Yet, none of it fazed me anymore. This house wasn't just Chloe's haven; it was my second base of operations.
I walked in without ringing the doorbell, as I had done countless times in recent weeks. The guards at the gate didn't so much as glance my way anymore, my presence now a part of their routine.
"Chloe!" I called, my voice carrying through the cavernous hallways. "We have work to do."
A groan answered me, followed by the sound of reluctant footsteps. Chloe appeared at the top of the grand staircase, arms crossed and her trademark pout in full effect. She was dressed in designer athleisure, likely an attempt to appear ready for whatever nonsense she thought I'd drag her into.
"Ugh, what now, Luka?" she whined, descending the staircase with exaggerated irritation. "I already told you—I don't do training. That's for peasants."
I smirked, leaning casually against the banister. "And yet here you are, still listening to me."
She rolled her eyes but didn't argue. She'd learned not to, at least not outright. Our arrangement was a tenuous balance of coercion and reluctant cooperation. But today, I needed more than that. Today, I needed her to commit.
"Chloe, this isn't just about you anymore," I began, my tone measured. "You said you wanted to prove yourself, right? To show everyone you're more than just… well, you?"
Her eyes narrowed. "Watch it, Luka."
I raised my hands in mock surrender. "I'm just saying. You care about what people think of you, especially Ladybug."
she seemed irritated at the fact I knew she like ladybug, though it was obivous by the scattered merchandise. Her expression flickered, a spark of interest breaking through her feigned disinterest and content. I'd found the angle.
"You know Ladybug?" I continued, lowering my voice conspiratorially. "And if you're serious about impressing her, then you need to be ready. Strong. Someone she can rely on."
Chloe's posture shifted, her arms uncrossing slightly. "And how exactly am I supposed to do that?" she asked, her tone skeptical but curious.
"By training with me," I said simply. "I know things, Chloe. Things about Ladybug, I can promise you I'll make you apart of her world. And if you want to be a part of that world, you'll need to be ready when the time comes."
Her brow furrowed, and I could see her debating. Chloe was stubborn, but she was also desperate for approval, especially from Ladybug. I just needed to push her a little further.
"You think Ladybug became the hero she is by sitting around?" I pressed. "She works for it. Every day. If you want to be her ally, you need to do the same."
She bit her lip, the vulnerability she worked so hard to hide slipping through. "Fine," she said finally, her voice begrudging. "I'll train. But don't think for a second I'm enjoying this."
I grinned. "Wouldn't dream of it."
We started in the garden, an open space with enough privacy to ensure no prying eyes would witness Chloe's less-than-graceful attempts at physical exertion. I had prepared a series of basic drills—nothing too intense yet. I needed her to take this seriously before ramping things up.
"Why do I even need to do this?" Chloe complained as she half-heartedly threw a punch at the air. "I'm already perfect. Ladybug doesn't need me to be… sweaty."
"Because being perfect isn't enough," I said, dodging her weak punch effortlessly. "You're going to need strength, discipline, and most of all strategy if you want to keep up with her. And trust me, you will keep up."
She huffed but didn't stop. That was progress.
After an hour of basic training, I called for a break. Chloe collapsed onto a lounge chair, dramatically fanning herself. "This is torture," she declared.
"This is the beginning," I corrected. "And it's going to get harder."
She groaned, but there was a flicker of determination in her eyes. "You better be right about this, Luka. If Ladybug doesn't notice how amazing I am after all this, I'll… I'll sue you or something."
I chuckled, shaking my head. "Don't worry, Chloe. She'll notice. And when the time comes, you'll have your chance to prove yourself."
I didn't tell her the full truth. I didn't tell her that I knew Ladybug would lose the Bee Miraculous. That when that day came, I'd be the one to place it in Chloe's hands. She'd become Queen Bee again, but this time, she'd be under my guidance.
For now, though, I let her think this was just about earning Ladybug's approval. That was motivation enough to keep her going. And as she sat there, catching her breath and muttering about how unfair life was, I knew I was one step closer to my goal.
Chloe Bourgeois wasn't just a walking bag of money but a partner. She was a piece on the board, a future queen in a game only I could see. And with every move I made, I was inching closer to victory.
