Miss Witch Doesn't Want to be a Diva

Chapter 44 Levitation Brave Fish

"That means, I still need to add some Red Flame Stone to adjust the overly ice-cold magic power..."

Kneeling beside a wooden barrel, the girl placed several red, warm stones into the water, watching the bubbles rise and then steam billow out. To the unknowing observer, it might look like soup was being prepared, but in reality, she was assisting the Silver Rockfish inside the barrel with its advancement.

"First, I helped the Silver Rockfish construct a magic power circulation within its body, as well as assist with the branding of the Transcendent Core. This would allow the fish to gradually acclimate. After that, I added the prepared Silver Serenity Spirit Medicine, which would dissolve its original Transcendent Core and prevent the condensed magic power from dissipating too quickly."

"Then, I introduced the Crystal Thorn Elixir. With the aid of magic power, I guided and assisted it in constructing the structure of its Transcendent Core step by step, continually perfecting it and enabling the Silver Rockfish to make minor adjustments on its own to adapt to its consciousness and body."

"During this process, an appropriate amount of Red Flame Stone must be added to adjust the overly ice-cold magic power; otherwise, before the Transcendent Core could even condense, it would freeze to death or lose consciousness."

As she narrated, the girl meticulously followed the predefined steps. After adding the Red Flame Stone, she once again plunged her hand into the water. Her fingertips gently swirled, and silver and ice-blue luminescence continuously emerged from the body of the Silver Rockfish. The highly concentrated ice-cold magic power moved like a slush, later condensing according to a special symbolic pattern and contracting ever tighter.

Closing her eyes, the girl operated with full concentration. After a long time, the luminescence on the body of the Silver Rockfish gradually faded, and a layer of sweat had formed on her forehead.

"It should be complete now..." she slowly opened her eyes and lifted her hand from the water, a few droplets falling down.

"Now it's up to whether it can adapt and stabilize its new Transcendent Core structure." Considering the fish's intelligence, Hexia was quite worried, not knowing whether the little fellow had actually learned or not.

Wrapped around three little ducks, the Indigo Snake stretched its neck in curiosity toward the steaming water by the barrel.

Still no results? The girl, feeling a bit anxious, leaned forward to observe when unexpectedly a fishtail flicked up, splashing water onto her face.

"Cough cough..." Covering her face, Hexia felt water droplets enter her mouth, tinged with a faint salty taste.

This won't do, I must rinse my mouth out later. As she thought this, a large fish leaped out of the barrel with a slap, then landed on the ground. The fish's eyes met the girl's in a stare down, and then the Silver Rockfish leaped again, attempting to escape.

"Don't you run!" Hexia's palm opened, and the agile and flexible fish that was in midair slapped back down to the ground, turning into a frozen solid ice fish.

"Hmph..." The girl picked up the rigid fish and tossed it back into the barrel, then covered it with a lid before heading to the bathroom to rinse her mouth.

After washing up, Hexia, barefoot, returned to the living room. She scrutinized the tightly sealed barrel lid, which was also weighed down by the Indigo Snake, resting her arm on her chin in thought for quite a while before deciding how to discipline the disobedient Silver Rockfish.

Removing the lid once more, the Silver Rockfish tried the same escape technique upon seeing light, but this time the prepared girl caught it in one go.

The strong and slippery fish continued to struggle in the girl's grasp, splashing water droplets that made it hard to keep her eyes open. Fortunately, a trace of frost white flashed past, and the fish once again became rigid.

Taking the Silver Rockfish to the kitchen, she then tied it to the cutting board with two thin ropes before defrosting it.

Once it regained consciousness, the Silver Rockfish's eyes fixated on the girl as its tail ceaselessly fanned on the chopping board, producing a smacking sound. At this moment, Hexia also raised the sharp kitchen knife in her hand, reflecting the glaring light from the ceiling.

Gurgle gurgle, terrified, the Silver Rockfish finally ceased its struggle, blowing bubbles from its mouth while making strange noises, as if it were resigning itself to fate and pleading for mercy.

"Hmph, now you know fear, don't you?" the girl snapped as she plunged the tip of her knife into the cutting board in front of the fish's head, startling the Silver Rock Fish into leaping up again, only to be held down by a thin rope.

After this round of training and instruction, the Silver Rock Fish finally started to behave, no longer trying to jump and run around. Afterwards, Hexia put it back into the warm water of the wooden barrel, carefully checking and observing it.

"It progressed to the next stage, but why doesn't it have the abilities and skills it should?" Fingers swirling in the water, the girl leaned on the edge of the barrel, muttering to herself with a touch of helplessness.

"Too bad this is a stupid fish; it probably can't even understand human speech, so it's no use asking it, huh." Standing up once more, Hexia decided to let it be, to see if the fish could spontaneously demonstrate its expected abilities over the next few days.

Barefoot, she walked across the living room floor, ready to take a bath. She had gotten some water on her hair, and without a wash, she felt uncomfortable.

The sound of running water echoed in the bathroom. Meanwhile, the Silver Rock Fish in the barrel swam a few circles at the bottom, then leaped out again. This time, however, its leap seemed extraordinarily high, hitting the ceiling. As it fell back down, its body traced a long arc through the air before slowly stabilizing and hovering above the ground.

But the hovering didn't last long; it soon fell to the floor, leaving behind another puddle, then after what seemed like a period of building energy and resting, the Silver Rock Fish leaped up vigorously once again, floating slowly into the air.

In this way, bumbling along and hovering at tilted angles, sometimes hitting the ground, sometimes taking off, it left many areas of the living room wet, and a faint salty fish soup smell pervaded the room.

On the other side, the Indigo Snake, protecting its three ducklings, watched the fish run around without seeming to intend to interfere. Maybe it too wanted to see just how far this creature could go.

By the time Hexia finally finished her bath and came out, she found that the fish soup smell had spread everywhere in the living room.

"Uh," she opened her mouth slightly, wanting to say something, but unsure what to say.

Since she was young, her mother hadn't taught her to curse, and she didn't like to use crude language either, so she just closed her mouth.

Slipping into sandals, the girl looked around the living room, then spotted the large spider sleeping on top of the cabinet. She walked over, knocked to wake it up, and then pointed at the Silver Rock Fish still hopping around.

"Hisss~" The large spider seemed a bit annoyed, sketched something with its forelimbs, and then charged down.

Soon, a fish wrapped in spider silk lay powerless on the floor.

Hexia sighed at the water stains all over the floor, then went to the corner to activate the Autonomous Robot for cleaning. Afterward, she placed the tightly bound Silver Rock Fish back into the wooden barrel, though this time the water inside had been replaced and was cleaner, devoid of the previous odor.

"The experiment was a success. This Primordial Sequence 2 Silver Rock Fish has progressed and evolved into a Natural Sequence 3 Levitation Brave Fish, acquiring the ability to stay and hover in the air," she recorded in her logbook, along with various data.

Although levitation isn't a rare ability, and it doesn't significantly enhance its strength for now, it vastly expands the fish's living space. If, in the future, it could master and refine this ability, then this type of fish could migrate like birds.

In winter, they could fly to the warmer southern waters, or leave shallow river puddles when the dry season approaches, and at other times, depart from the aquatic environment to participate in human life.

"With this, taking this fish to participate in the first-year competition at the end of the year should get us through," Hexia closed her logbook, her spirits lifted with anticipation, finally dissipating the slight unhappiness from before.
