Chapter 381: [379] Najenda
In just a few short minutes, only Akame and Bulat were still standing.
The rest of the group had been knocked to the ground, but August didn't kill them. He merely knocked them unconscious, allowing them to temporarily fall.
"Who are you?"
Akame, holding Murasame, looked at August with a serious expression. To defeat the entire Night Raid by himself—this level of combat strength was unheard of.
"My name is August. I'm not from the Empire. I just arrived in the Imperial Capital today."
"How could an outsider know so much about us?"
"Well, it's just a coincidence."
What could he say? He had watched their anime, so he knew them. But even if he said that no one would believe it, so August didn't bother to waste his breath.
Bulat stared at August, tightly gripping his teigu. Though his armor was powerful, it placed a huge strain on his body. Especially after such a high-intensity battle, his stamina was greatly depleted.
Looking at the two standing before him and the others who had fallen around them, August couldn't help but feel disappointed.
The combined strength of these people wasn't even close to matching Esdeath's.
In the original story, the only reason Murasame could fight Esdeath and even temporarily outmaneuver her in terms of agility was due to Murasame's secret technique.
However, that was not something one could use freely—it was a life-burning technique.
"Such a disappointment. The Empire's top assassination group, Night Raid."
August spoke slowly, his voice tinged with disdain. The Teigu wielders? To him, Teigus were nothing more than toys.
Shing!
Suddenly, Bulat moved. He thrust his teigu toward August.
Clang!
August's finger intercepted the spear, and the overwhelming difference in power became clear. August's physical strength had long surpassed that of any life form in this world, even the so-called danger beasts.
"I've had enough of this. It's time for you to leave."
Bang!
With a single, unadorned punch, Bulat was sent flying, crashing into the wall, unable to rise.
"The gap is... so vast."
Bulat grimaced, his armor disappearing from his body. He could no longer summon the power of his Teigu.
Akame understood now. This man possessed the power to kill all of them, yet for some reason, he hadn't done so.
"Who exactly are you?"
"I'm just an outsider. I came to the Imperial Capital at someone's invitation."
"Someone's invitation?"
"Yes."
"Who invited you?"
"Esdeath."
In that instant, both Akame and Bulat felt as if they had been plunged into an icy abyss.
The strongest Teigu wielder, as emphasized by their boss? This monstrous man was actually a friend of Esdeath.
If that was the case, Night Raid had no hope. This man alone had destroyed their entire group, and he hadn't even used his full strength.
"I will kill you~"
At that moment, a woman holding the Teigu Cutter of Creation: Extase, a massive pair of scissors, attacked August's neck.
Her intentions were clear: kill August. This was the only thing she could do, the only thing she would do.
Clang!
A shadow, dark as ink, rose from beneath August's feet, blocking the incoming attack aimed at his neck.
The Dragon's Shadow, though August's mana was low, was still usable in a limited form, though it lacked its usual potency.
"Not good. Sheele, run!"
Akame shouted as she tried to protect Sheele, realizing that August's strength was far beyond what they could handle.
Boom!
Without mercy, August delivered a heavy blow to Akame.
Even Akame, an elite from the Empire's assassination unit, was overwhelmed by this force, feeling as if her body might break apart.
August's gaze fell upon Sheele, the innocent, awkward woman who had become the unluckiest among them. From the very beginning, she had been an outlier in the group. Though she had helped her friend, in the end, she was feared by everyone.
Sheele, a natural airhead and bespectacled girl, grew up in the Imperial Capital's slums. With no special talents and a tendency to fail at everything, she was often ridiculed. Once, in an attempt to save her best friend, she killed a person and later killed the deceased's comrades who sought revenge.
Thus, she was feared by her closest friend, and in turn, she discovered her one true talent—killing.
In the story, she was also the first to pull the "death" curtain, sacrificing herself to protect her companion Mine, only to die and become food for a teigu.
Sheele, covered in dust, stood in the dimming twilight, her eyes flickering.
"Sheele, right?"
"Yes, I'm Sheele. You can just call me that."
Sheele responded calmly, her tone nonchalant.
"Would you like to come over to my side? I can guarantee you will never face any danger or trouble again."
"I'm still a member of Night Raid. I won't leave my comrades."
"Such a shame."
August sighed slightly. He did have some affection for this naive, glasses-wearing girl.
Not because he liked her, but because, if she were to die like this, it seemed almost too unfortunate for her.
His gaze shifted toward a corner not far off. There, a presence lingered, not weak.
"Since you've arrived, come out and show yourself."
August's words stunned the remaining members of Night Raid. Was there someone else here?
Clap! Clap!
"Truly remarkable sensitivity."
A woman with a mechanical arm and an eye patch stepped out.
"Boss, what are you doing here?"
Bulat exclaimed in surprise upon seeing her.
"I had a bad feeling, so I came to check. Didn't expect to find this situation."
"Boss, be careful. He's very strong."
"Ah, I see that. He's like Esdeath—just another monster."
Najenda's expression grew serious. She had witnessed the strength of six Teigu wielders being easily defeated by August. His power was overwhelming.
"I've heard of you from Esdeath, General Najenda."
"Esdeath... I didn't expect she still remembered me."
"After all, you're both the youngest female generals."
Najenda had once held that honor, but it was now a thing of the past.
Now, something she couldn't believe had happened: another top-tier powerhouse had emerged, one who could rival even Esdeath.
