Multiverse Gacha

Chapter 392: [390] Back

After the minister's death, August left the rest of the aftermath to Esdeath. With no interest in the empire's political games, he returned to the Grand General's estate and immediately entered his pocket dimension. There, he initiated a process that required complete focus and an unwavering resolve.

August called upon the sapling of the World Tree that resided within the pocket dimension, instructing it to devour the void energy in his body. This included his own magic—all of it, down to the last drop.

As the process began, August experienced an agonizing sensation of loss. Magic, the very foundation of his strength, was being stripped away. It wasn't merely painful; it was disorienting, as though a part of his very essence was being unraveled.

Hour after hour, the World Tree sapling consumed the void energy and magic that had defined August as a being of overwhelming power. By the end, his once-mighty magic reserves were gone, leaving him at rock bottom—a person without even the slightest trace of magic.

And yet, this wasn't a catastrophe. While his magic was gone, his physical body remained that of an eighth-tier powerhouse. This meant August didn't need to climb the ranks of magical progression from scratch. He merely had to refill his depleted reserves, a process unhindered by any bottlenecks or barriers.

If magic was water, then the body was the vessel that contained it. August's vessel remained immense, capable of holding the magic of an eighth-tier entity. The process of refilling it, while daunting, was far simpler than the arduous journey of initially strengthening the vessel itself.

"Papa, are you okay?" The soft voice of the World Tree sapling echoed in his mind, carrying a note of concern.

"I'm fine," August replied, his tone calm despite the lingering discomfort. "Starting anew isn't a bad thing. Sometimes, breaking everything down is necessary to rebuild stronger than before."

"If I were a little stronger, I could help you even more, Papa," the sapling said softly.

"You've already done more than enough," August reassured it. He meant every word. Without the World Tree sapling, purging the void energy from his body would have required an immeasurable amount of time and effort. Instead, the process had been accelerated significantly, giving him a head start on his recovery.

Now, all August needed was a source of magic to replenish his reserves. The negative energy that permeated this pocket dimension, drawn from countless conflicts and emotions, would suffice for his initial recovery. While it wouldn't restore him to his peak, it was far better than operating at the weakest level of magic—a state he found intolerable.

A soft knock interrupted his thoughts. It was Laura, one of Esdeath's trusted aides. "Your Highness, everything has been prepared," she said respectfully.

"Good. Let's go," August said, rising to his feet. Though his magic was gone, his confidence remained unshaken. He possessed two of the Seven Deadly Sins—powers that granted him unparalleled means of recovery and growth.

In this pocket dimension, August's access to the Sin of Lust was effortless. The diverse inhabitants of this world—a collection of beauties from various races—made gathering lust energy an almost trivial endeavor. Additionally, his mastery of the Sin of Gluttony allowed him to enhance his physical body and replenish magic through consumption.

The estate's grand dining hall was soon bustling with activity. A massive table had been laid out, laden with dishes prepared from the remains of formidable creatures August had slain during his campaigns. The meal, originally intended to be a feast, now served a new purpose—his recovery.

August picked up a roasted leg of a dangerous beast, took a bite, and immediately felt a faint trace of magic seep into his body. Though the amount was small, it was enough to bring a smile to his face. Without hesitation, he dove into the feast, consuming dish after dish with voracious appetite.

As he ate, the demonic maids replaced empty plates with new delicacies, ensuring the flow of sustenance never ceased. August's goal wasn't to fully restore his magic here—this was merely the appetizer. The real banquet awaited him in the world of Akame ga Kill! where the negative energy of the empire's corruption and suffering would provide an abundant source of power.

By the time the sun dipped below the horizon, August had spent the entire day indulging his Sin of Gluttony. When night fell, he turned his attention to the Sin of Lust, gathering a group of enchanting women for an entirely different kind of recovery.

By the next morning, as sunlight streamed into his chamber, August awoke surrounded by the sleeping forms of his companions. A contented smile spread across his face as he stretched, feeling the restored flow of magic within his body. Though it was still at a basic level, it was a significant improvement—the first step toward reclaiming his former strength.

Dressing himself, August left the chamber and entered the estate's main hall, where he found Tsubaki waiting for him. She was seated casually, her usual sharp gaze focused on him.

"Finally decided to show yourself?" she teased.

August chuckled awkwardly. "Good to see you too, Tsubaki. What brings you here?"

"Ais mentioned you were back," Tsubaki replied, standing up. "She practically dragged me out of the forge to check on you. So, how's the recovery going?"

"I'm back to square one with my magic, but my physical strength remains intact. It's only a matter of time before I'm fully restored," August said confidently.

Tsubaki smirked. "Knowing you, a few months is all you'll need. Honestly, I'm not worried." She paused, her eyes drifting to the chamber he'd just exited. "Judging by the...aroma, you've already made decent progress."

August cleared his throat, a faint blush coloring his cheeks. "Well, I do what I must to recover."

Tsubaki laughed. "At least you're efficient. So, tell me about this new world you've landed in. Is it worth your time?"

"It's a bleak place," August admitted. "Filled with darkness, deceit, and suffering. I have no interest in the world itself, but its negative energy is a treasure trove."

"I see. And the women? Are they as plentiful as always?" Tsubaki teased.

August sighed dramatically. "There are plenty, but my tastes have grown more refined. It's hard to be impressed these days."

"Oh ho, our Prince August has actually become choosy! I'm honestly shocked."

"Cut it out."

Seeing August's embarrassment, Tsubaki burst into laughter.

Ever since August obtained the complete Gate of Babylon, he no longer had any need for weapons. This made Tsubaki feel for a time that she could no longer be of help to him, even falling into a bit of a slump. However, in the end, August proved her worth through his actions.

As one of August's subordinates, she was not just a smith—she was also his chariot of war.
