Mushoku Tensei: A New Life

Chapter 3: Chapter 3

I apologize for not uploading a chapter yesterday. Due to the college holidays, I had to visit some relatives, which disrupted my usual schedule.

I'll do my best to upload chapters regularly moving forward. However, I kindly ask for your understanding if I'm unable to maintain a consistent schedule at times. Life can be unpredictable, and balancing my responsibilities alongside writing can occasionally be challenging.

Thank you for your patience and support. Your enthusiasm for my work motivates me to keep improving and sharing this journey with you.

As a baby, swordsmanship is currently out of the question, but magic training is feasible. From what I understand, having a larger mana pool is essential. Rudeus began his training at the age of three by depleting his mana through spellcasting. However, since I cannot read or speak as a baby, I must adopt an unconventional approach.

Every living being has mana within them, even before learning to cast spells. My goal is to deplete my mana by letting it flow out of my body in its purest form, allowing it to dissipate into the atmosphere. To achieve this, the first step is to sense the mana within my body.

To sense my mana, I will rely on meditation—a skill I've practiced and mastered over the past eight years. My proficiency in meditation stems from my struggles during the early days of my job. Back then, I suffered from sleepless nights and desperately sought solutions. I tried every method I could find online, and eventually, I came across an article suggesting that meditation could improve sleep.

At first, I approached it as a last resort, but over time, it became a daily habit. Regular meditation not only helped me overcome my sleepless nights but also allowed me to develop a deep sense of focus and control over my mind and body. Now, after years of practice, I consider myself highly skilled in meditation—a mastery that will undoubtedly aid me in sensing and controlling mana.

Here's the systematic plan I'll follow :

Step 1: Sensing Mana

Relaxation: I'll begin by calming my mind and body, releasing all tension and distractions.

Focus: Next, I'll focus inward, directing my attention to the flow of energy within my body.

Perception: With patience and practice, I'll work to perceive the mana flowing through me.

After a while, I believe I've started to sense my mana. It feels like a flow within my body, similar to blood moving through veins, but distinctly different.

Step 2: Releasing Mana

Now that I can sense my mana, the next step is to guide it out of my body. Since this is my first attempt, I'll proceed cautiously. The mana veins in my body might not yet be strong enough, and forcing too much mana could damage them, ending my journey before it even begins.

I focus on releasing mana slowly and carefully, allowing it to dissipate into the atmosphere. The process works, though it's slow. However, safety is my priority. Over time, with consistent practice, I should become faster and more efficient at this process.

Step 3: Understanding the Body's Mana Veins

While practicing, I notice that mana seems to radiate predominantly from my hands. This makes sense, as the mana veins in the hands and feet are typically more developed, which is why magicians commonly cast spells through their hands. Rare exceptions exist, such as earth magic users who can cast spells using their feet.

But I don't want to be like everyone else. My ambition is to become the most powerful mage. To achieve this, I must aim to develop mana veins throughout my entire body, not just in my hands and feet. If I succeed, I could cast spells from any part of my body, giving me a unique advantage.

Step 4: Developing Full-Body Mana Veins

The next part of my training will focus on strengthening and expanding my mana veins across my entire body. While I don't know if this will yield immediate benefits, it could pave the way for something extraordinary in the future. Even if I fail, I'll have the satisfaction of knowing that I gave it my best effort.

By controlling and releasing mana in its purest form, I'm not just depleting my mana pool but also learning to manipulate it with precision. Perhaps this training method will eventually give me an edge, allowing me to surpass the limitations of conventional mages.

For now, I'll continue this painfully slow but promising process, confident that my determination will bring me closer to my goal of becoming the strongest mage.

It takes me about four minutes to completely deplete my mana. However, the process leaves me feeling drained, and I think I'm slipping into unconsciousness to recover. It seems my body instinctively shuts down to restore my mana pool—a natural response, especially since I'm still just a baby. Fortunately, babies are expected to sleep a lot, so I hope my parents won't worry unnecessarily about this.

When I wake up, I need to make sure I eat something. The thought of neglecting my body's needs because of my excitement to train terrifies me. Dying from something as simple as malnutrition would be the most foolish mistake I could make. For now, I'll trust my parents to take care of me, but I'll have to be mindful of this in the future.

As I prepare to lose consciousness, a sudden, sticky, wet sensation spreads across my lower body. A dreadful realization hits me—it's poop. Oh God, why? The embarrassment is unbearable. This is a level of shame I wasn't prepared for. I want to disappear, to somehow fade into the void and escape this humiliation. But alas, I'm a helpless baby, and such indignities are inevitable.

I can only hope my parents clean me up before I wake. The thought of lying in this state any longer is mortifying. My pride, though battered, clings to the hope that they won't think too much of it. After all, to them, I'm just an innocent infant.

Still, moments like this make me yearn to grow up as quickly as possible. I want to escape the vulnerability, the helplessness, and the embarrassing realities of being a baby. For now, though, I have no choice but to endure it. My journey to become stronger starts here, no matter how humiliating the circumstances.
