Chapter 4: Encounter of Lion beast and the Luo

The low growl of the lion echoed ominously, reverberating through the dense forest. Sun Luo stood at the edge of the beast's cave, his fists clenched and his heart pounding in his chest. He could still hear the distant, fading laughter of **Sun Jian** and **Sun Hao** as they disappeared back into the forest, leaving him alone to face the monster.

Above, Jian had mockingly imitated worry, his exaggerated cries echoing in Luo's mind. "Lu—Luo f-fell into danger! Th-the lion's den!" They had stammered with false concern, but their eyes had gleamed with satisfaction.

Now, Luo was left to fend for himself. The lion's massive silhouette emerged from the shadows of the cave, its golden eyes gleaming with primal hunger. It was a **Spirit Lion**, a creature known for its ferocity and low-level spiritual energy, a dangerous foe even for a trained cultivator.

**At the Camp**

Sun Jian and Sun Hao returned to the main camp in a frenzy, their faces pale and their breathing labored. Their act was perfect.

"Help! Help!" Jian yelled, collapsing to his knees as the group of cousins and guards rushed over.

"What happened?" Sun Mei demanded, her voice sharp with concern as she pushed her way through the crowd.

"It's Luo!" Hao cried, his hands trembling. "He—he slippe slipped and fell near the li lio lion's d de den! We tried to stop him, but it was too late!"

The group erupted into a flurry of questions and panic.

"A lion's den?" Mei's face paled as she turned to the guards. "You all know how dangerous that is! We need to send a rescue team now!"

But Jian and Hao quickly spoke up, their voices trembling in apparent fear.

"It—it's no use," Jian stammered. "The lion was already coming out. Even if we go now... it might be too late."

Inside their minds, however, their thoughts were far from fearful.

*That useless brat won't survive this,* Jian thought smugly. *By the time the rescue team arrives, there'll be nothing left of him.*

Hao suppressed a smirk, his inner voice echoing the same sentiment. *Good riddance. One less weakling to tarnish the family name.*

But Sun Mei wasn't convinced. Her eyes narrowed as she watched Jian's over-the-top performance. She could see through the cracks in their act, though she couldn't yet prove it.

"Gather the best guards," Mei ordered the group. "We're going after him."

**Back at the Lion's Den**

Sun Luo's breathing was steady now, though his heart raced. The spirit lion stalked toward him, its muscles rippling with every step. Its massive paws crushed the rocky ground, and its growls rumbled like distant thunder.

The fire inside Luo, however faint, began to stir. He couldn't run; the lion would easily overpower him. Fighting was his only option.

Luo's mind raced as he analyzed the beast's movements. He remembered the combat drills from his youth, the ones drilled into him before his cultivation had stalled.

"Focus," he muttered to himself, his voice firm despite the sweat trickling down his temple. "You've been through worse. You can survive this."

The lion lunged, its claws extended, its fangs gleaming. Luo dodged to the side just in time, the beast's claws grazing his arm. Pain flared, but he bit back a cry and rolled to his feet.

The lion snarled, clearly irritated that its prey had escaped. It charged again, but this time Luo was ready. Using the terrain to his advantage, he jumped onto a nearby rock, gaining higher ground.

"Come on," Luo growled, his voice filled with defiance. "You want to kill me? You'll have to try harder."

The lion roared, its power shaking the air around it. But Luo's eyes burned with determination.

**The Fight for Survival**

The lion attacked relentlessly, its claws tearing through the rocks and dirt. Luo dodged and weaved, using every ounce of his strength and agility. His body screamed in protest, his stamina waning, but he refused to give in.

As the beast charged once more, Luo saw an opening. He grabbed a broken tree branch nearby, its sharp end jagged like a spear.

"Let's see how you like this!" he shouted, channeling all his remaining strength into his movements.

The lion lunged, but Luo was faster. He dodged to the side, driving the makeshift spear into the beast's shoulder. The lion roared in pain, staggering back as blood dripped from its wound.

Luo didn't stop. He pressed the attack, his movements fueled by sheer willpower. Each strike was precise, targeting the beast's vulnerable spots. The lion's roars grew weaker, its movements slower.

Finally, with one last burst of strength, Luo leaped onto the beast's back, gripping the branch tightly. He drove it into the lion's neck with a ferocious cry, his body trembling with exhaustion and rage.

The lion collapsed with a final, pained growl, its massive body hitting the ground. Luo rolled off, landing on his back as he gasped for air.

**The Awakening**

For a moment, everything was silent. Luo stared at the sky, his chest heaving. The pain in his body was unbearable, but he was alive. He had done it.

Slowly, he pushed himself to his feet. His gaze fell on the fallen lion, and an unfamiliar emotion stirred within him—a mix of pride, anger, and defiance.

Dragging himself to the beast's head, Luo climbed onto it and sat down, his bloodied hands resting on his knees. His eyes burned with determination as he looked into the forest.

"I'm not useless," he muttered, his voice low but firm. "I'm not weak. And I won't let anyone decide my worth."

At that moment, a faint, unfamiliar voice echoed in his mind:

**"Congratulations, Sun Luo. You have survived the impossible. Now, let us see how far you can rise."**

Luo's body tensed as a sudden warmth spread through him, the fire in his core roaring to life. His vision blurred for a moment, and when it cleared, a glowing interface appeared before him.

**Welcome, User. Prepare for the path ahead.**

**Ending Hook**:

As Luo stared at the mysterious interface, the forest around him seemed to hum with energy. Unbeknownst to him, Sun Mei and the rescue group were racing through the woods, their urgency mounting. But when they arrived, what would they find?
