My Attitude System

Chapter 8: The Rising Flame

**Part 2 : The Pack Strikes**

The air around the camp grew tense as the wolves emerged from the shadows, their glowing eyes fixating on the humans. A hundred beasts moved as one, their growls resonating like a symphony of death. Their coordinated formation was unnerving, with smaller wolves circling the outskirts while the larger ones prowled closer. The pack's strategy was clear—they were testing their prey's defenses.

Sun Suo, standing with the elders at the edge of the camp, remained calm. He surveyed the scene, his eyes narrowing at the approaching danger.

"We will not intervene," he announced firmly, his voice cutting through the mounting fear. "This is their fight, and their opportunity to prove themselves."

The elders nodded in agreement, their expressions unreadable. Though the wolves were fearsome, this battle was a rite of passage for the younger Sun family members.

Among them, Sun Meilin and Sun Qing stepped forward, their faces hardened with resolve.

"Luo, stick with us," Meilin said, unsheathing her twin daggers that glimmered in the firelight. Her fiery aura flared slightly, a testament to her cultivation in Body Tempering Level 4.

"We'll protect each other," added Qing, spinning his spear with practiced ease.

But not all siblings shared their determination. At the back of the group, Sun Jian and Sun Hao exchanged sly glances, their unease masked by forced concern.

"This is perfect," Jian whispered. "We'll play worried brothers, but these wolves will do the dirty work for us."

"Exactly," Hao replied, a smirk tugging at his lips. "Let's see how long Luo lasts. If he dies here, no one will blame us."

Luo, oblivious to their scheming, stepped forward with the flaming branch in his hand. His heart pounded, but his expression remained stoic. As the wolves growled and advanced, he tightened his grip, the heat from the branch seeping into his palms.

One of the smaller wolves lunged at him, its claws swiping through the air. Luo sidestepped with surprising agility and swung the branch, the flames grazing the beast's side. The wolf yelped and retreated, its burnt fur smoldering.

**"Attitude Points: +5 for standing firm in the face of danger."**

The system's voice echoed in his mind, fueling his resolve. Luo smirked, his confidence building.

"Is that all you've got?" he muttered, his voice low but defiant.

Another wolf charged, this one faster and larger. Luo barely managed to duck under its claws, rolling to the side as the beast landed where he had stood. Before it could attack again, Meilin dashed forward.

"Blazing Dance!" she shouted, her daggers engulfed in flames. She moved with grace, slashing the wolf's legs in quick, precise strikes. The beast collapsed, howling in pain.

"Stay focused, Luo!" she called over her shoulder.

"Nice moves," Luo replied, his smirk widening. "But I've got this."

Sun Qing joined the fray, his spear spinning like a whirlwind. "Fire Spiral Thrust!" he yelled, plunging the weapon into another wolf's chest. Flames erupted from the point of impact, engulfing the beast in an inferno.

Despite their efforts, the wolves' numbers were overwhelming. For every beast they injured, two more seemed to take its place. The guards fought valiantly, their techniques lighting up the battlefield with bursts of fire and sparks.

"Flame Arc!" one guard shouted, his sword tracing a fiery crescent through the air. The attack struck down two wolves at once, but his breath came in heavy gasps.

Luo found himself facing another wolf, its growl deep and menacing. He raised his branch defensively, his mind racing.

"Sunfire Strike!" he improvised, slamming the burning end of the branch into the beast's snout. The flames flared, and the wolf recoiled, snarling in pain.

**"Attitude Points: +8 for resilience under pressure."**

The wolves regrouped, their growls harmonizing into an eerie rhythm. The pack parted, making way for their leader.

From the shadows emerged a massive wolf, its fur black as night and its eyes glowing crimson. The beast exuded an aura of power, its presence alone enough to silence the battlefield. The younger Sun family members froze, their confidence wavering.

"Stay together!" Meilin shouted, rallying the group.

The leader wolf snarled, and the pack began moving in unison, forming a circular formation. Their intent was clear—they were preparing a coordinated attack.

Sun Jian and Sun Hao, who had been lurking at the edge of the fight, exchanged nervous glances.

"This isn't good," Jian muttered, his earlier bravado replaced with fear.

"We're in over our heads," Hao replied, gripping his weapon tightly.

Luo, however, stood his ground, his eyes locked on the leader wolf. The fear in his chest was real, but he refused to show it.

"You want a fight?" he said, his voice steady. "Then come and get it."

The system chimed in again.

**"Attitude Points: +10 for provoking a stronger opponent."**

The leader wolf growled, and the pack charged as one.

**Ending Hook:**

The wolves' coordinated assault was unlike anything the younger Sun family members had faced before. As claws and fangs descended upon them, Luo's determination burned brighter than ever.

But as the leader wolf lunged directly at him, its crimson eyes blazing with fury, Luo felt the heat of a new power stirring within him.

Was this fear… or the spark of something greater?
