My Gamer System In The Modern World

Chapter 4: Survival!?

As I approached the bus stop I saw that the yellow bus had arrived causing me to run and reach it instantly.

Redwood Academy was a prestigious private school. It's a school for the elite or rather their children. It's a school that the rich attend to get richer.

My family wasn't exactly rich, but we were comfortable with my dad being an engineer. Because of that, I was able to attend this school. If someone attended this school, there would be no doubt they would go to their dream university.

Thinking about my father's stats I couldn't help but sigh.

My stats were not comparable to his. While I could understand that he was older, I didn't know the average stats for an adult and a kid. However, this was my chance to see what the average stat range was for my age group. Once I got on the bus, I tried to find a seat, but I also used my [Inspect] skill and saw everyone's stats.

Thanks to that I could find an average number of 10 for every stat. Sitting in the back I then tried to find something I could use in the shop. Sadly all the skills were still out of my price range but I was getting pretty close to getting some skills. However, those overpowered skills did seem to be way out of my price range for a long time.

As more people started to get on the bus I decided to stop using my [Inspect] skill. I then looked at the rest of my skills.

While [Cooking] and [Inspect] were pretty self-exploratory, I was more curious about my [Imaginative Strategist] Skill.

[Imaginative Strategist (Skill): A skill that enhances the user's ability to devise creative and unconventional solutions to problems or combat scenarios by seeing a visual plan]

The skill seemed pretty useful. Being able to clearly see plans would work well however, the mana cost would be a problem. Although the skill doesn't seem to be that detailed I had no doubt the more I leveled it up the more useful it would be.

'But this also means I need to increase my MP'

However, I then had a sudden realization and used my [Inspect] skill again. When I used it noticed no one else had the MP stat.

This did make me confused but I then came to a realization.

'Must be the skill level isn't high enough'

Nodding to myself I then looked outside the bus window.

There wasn't much to see, just buildings, people, and animals.

After the bus arrived at the school I got off the bus with everyone else. Entering the giant school I made my way to my locker. There I put my bag in it.

It was empty as everything was in my inventory but it would be strange that I wasn't carrying a bag around.

Bringing the textbooks and notes out of my inventory I put them at the top before another quest window appeared in front of me.

'The Fuck!?'

Looking at the penalties I couldn't help but gulp. Looking at what the failure Trait did I gasped out loud

[Decreases all stats by 60%]

Looking at what the trait did I held my breath.

'I'm screwed!'

What the fuck did it mean by survive?

Was the school going to blow up for something?

I panicked but I let out a breath.

'I doubt this system would want to kill me right?'

The rank of the quest was B which was the highest-level quest I had gotten so far, however, it still had to be doable right? Calming myself down I then headed toward my first class.

My first class was art which I was currently regretting choosing. Art wasn't exactly something I enjoyed but I thought it would be an easy class which it was. Although we did draw a few things I wouldn't exactly call them "art".

Entering the class I then took my seat next to the window. Thankfully I was at the back of the class which did give me a great view.

As more and more people entered the class I used my [Inspect] skill on a few of them. But then a sudden notification appeared in front of me.

[Your Skill [Inspect] has Leveled up!]

[1 → 2]

'Sweet'

Checking what the skill did I was surprised to see I would be able to see more stats as well as a short sentence about them.

Just as I was checking its new MP requirements when the teacher Ms. Grey walked in. After a bit of a "welcome back" talk, we went into our new unit.

The history of art.

I internally groaned at that. I never liked history and I also didn't see the point in learning about the "evolution of art". As I was listening, to how the cavemen drew on cave walls I then turned my gaze out the window.

There I was able to see the field where I saw the gym class running around the track.

I never liked gym as I hated physical labor which was why I put it off for as long as I could. However, I focused on the girls who were running. They were all beautiful which was expected.

If I was being honest almost every girl in this school was above average in looks. That was to be expected though as the "elites" of this academy were technically considered to be of a higher standard meaning they had to look and act the part.

I didn't fit this standard and the rumors spread by that whore Venessa didn't help.

As I was looking out the window I couldn't help but use my [Inspect] skill. Seeing that my MP had almost fully recovered I decided to see what it could do.

Inspecting the track team I was able to figure out something. The Average Athlete seemed to have an average stat of 12.

However, I still couldn't see any MP stats.

I then saw something that made me frown. A muscular youth approached a scrawny one who was panting on the floor. While I didn't know who the skinny guy was I knew the other one was.

Tyler Hall.

He was the guy that had started to bully me in our second year. While half of it was because of Venessa's rumours the other half was probably to make himself feel better. He was a pretty popular delinquent but no one did anything due to his uncle being on the board of education while his father owned a company.

Using my skill on him I wasn't surprised by his stats.

As I watched Tyler and his cronies bullying the poor guy I saw someone start to approach them. A girl with black hair stepped in front of them. While I couldn't hear anything I could guess she was scolding him.

I was expecting Tylor to try and fight back but I saw him release the kid before walking away with his gang.

'Who's that?'

However, just as I used my [Inspect] skill a sudden headache hit me causing me to groan.

'Crap ran out of MP'

"Mr. Wilson, would you please read to me the passage from page 158?"

_

Looking up Lucas saw the teacher glaring at him and heard some other kids chuckling. Looking at his textbook, he couldn't help but wonder why they even had a textbook for art. However, he started to read.

Yet as he was reading he didn't notice the gaze that was directed in his direction.
