My Journey In One Piece!

Chapter 9: Chapter 9: Marks For A New Year

=-Day 368-=

Three days had passed, during which I had stepped up Mobile Inventory and my training by constantly wearing blindfolds. Though the snake resisted having something put over its face, I eventually managed to tie a vine wide and secure enough that the damn thing couldn't shake it off.

The goal of the blindfolds was to level up Mobile Inventory's Observation Haki while sharpening my instincts and senses beyond their current limits. So far, things were going smoothly for me. Unfortunately, since Mobile Inventory had a base sense of Observation Haki and was a snake, while also not particularly motivated to advance itself, it was improving at a much slower pace. Still, progress was progress.

"Fucking die!"

With both hands, I picked up a rock and tried to smash open a coconut. Unfortunately, the damn thing slipped, causing the coconut to launch straight at me. Before I could react it smacked into my head, cracking open and spilling its liquid all over me.

I felt warm blood trickle down my forehead, mixing with the coconut water as it dripped onto my nose.

"You fucking—!"

=-Day 381-=

Meditation.

It was something I had tried years ago, thinking it would fix everything in my life but I had quickly realized it did jack shit.

However, in spite of that, I remembered there was something in One Piece, some sort of power or ability that could manifest through a stable mind and body.

'Fuck, that didn't make any sense.'

Groaning as my meditation was broken again, I ripped off my blindfold and glared at Mobile Inventory for no reason other than to make myself feel better.

'Fucking snake, slithering around like it owns the place.'

Sighing, I pulled the blindfold back over my eyes and restarted my meditation.

'I'll manage at least two minutes this time.'

I did not.

=-Day 389-=

Turns out, not all of the plants I had been using for tobacco were actually tobacco. No, instead, some of them turned out to have other effects, effects that made me so relaxed I thought it would be a great idea to head straight to the ruins and fight the mutt.

"Face me, you fucking mutt!" I roared while looking around with my blindfold off, feeling Mobile Inventory tighten around my left side. Instinctively, I jumped back just as a fifteen foot tall wolf slammed its body down where I had been standing a second ago.

"Haha!" I laughed, reaching into Mobile Inventory's mouth and pulling out an iron sword. Twirling it in my hand, I grinned at the massive beast as it growled in response.

"You must be guarding something good!" I charged forward just as the mutt lunged at me, shifting my sword to my left hip before sweeping it upward to meet its attack. Our clash sent shockwaves through the ground, the sheer power of the impact causing the earth beneath me to crack.

'Holy shit!'

I let the force of the blow push me back, then immediately dropped the sword, reaching into Mobile Inventory's mouth again to grab another blade with my left hand while gripping the mutt's fur with my right.

"Die!" I yelled, locking eyes with the beast.

That was when Mobile Inventory suddenly tightened around my front, a warning that came just a tad too late.

The mutt disappeared.

'Wha—?'

Before I could react, it reappeared in front of me, maw wide open.

I had barely a split second to force Mobile Inventory to swallow its own tail, shrinking itself into a compact ball before shoving it into my mouth. The mutt's fangs clamped down on the right side of my stomach, locking me in place. I gritted my teeth as its left paw swung down, raking across both my shoulders, narrowly missing my head.

'F-fuck!'

The effects of the drug I'd taken instantly wore off, and my body screamed in pain. The mutt bit down harder, preparing for another swipe. Desperate, I opened my mouth and let Mobile Inventory grow inside me.

At the same time, I reached up with my bloodied left hand, grabbed another iron sword and rammed it into the mutt's wide, glaring eye.

It let out a howl of agony, shaking its head violently before flinging me straight into a building.

=-Day 405-=

I groaned as I peeled off the dried frog skin that had been acting as a makeshift bandage, tossing it aside before grabbing a bowl of water. Dipping a strip of panther fur into it, I started cleaning my wounds, leaning heavily against the cold stone wall of the cave hidden behind the waterfall.

From the corner of my eye, I caught Mobile Inventory staring at me.

"Stop looking at me like that." I muttered.

The snake had the expression of something looking at the dumbest creature it had ever come across.

'Before I smoke anything else, I'm testing it on the monkeys first.'

The thought made me snort, only to immediately regret it as pain flared up in my ribs. I tried sighing, but that hurt too so I just focused on washing myself before wrapping my body back up. Then, like I had been doing for the past two weeks, I lay back down.

"Agreed—" I winced. "Would be funny to watch monkeys get high."

With those last words, I promptly passed out.

=-Day 410-=

I was finally somewhat mobile again after weeks of lying around, and my first order of business? The ocean.

More specifically, I wanted to see Sea Kings.

I had only ever seen them through a screen before, and while I knew how terrifying they could be, that was nothing compared to witnessing them in person.

"This'll be the thing that kills me." I muttered as I approached the water's edge.

'It's just a check. No need to draw their attention.'

Taking a deep breath, I stepped into the water, wading forward until I dove in with my eyes shut. Slowly, I opened them—

And was immediately reminded that this wasn't my old world.

A massive shadow loomed in the depths—a turtle's fin that had to be larger than an island.

'I'm really am living on a breathing moving island.'

I turned my gaze away from the behemoth, looking ahead, only to lock eyes with a bright yellow creature covered in purple spots.

An eel.

A giant eel.

'Oh shit.'

The moment I realized it was swimming toward me, I bolted, kicking frantically toward the shallows as the water behind me shifted. Just as I reached the sand, I heard a massive splash.

I turned—

The eel had launched itself out of the water, mouth wide open and crashed onto the beach right behind me.

I stared at it.

It flailed wildly, no longer paying me any mind as it struggled to get back into the ocean.

The gears in my mind turned.

'Eat it.'

I nodded at my own thought.
