My Manor

Chapter 116: Chapter 116: Recruiting Fishermen

"Ah, it's my first time here." Putting down the wine glass in his hand, Jiang Hai smiled and nodded at the girl.

"Are you here to study? Which school?" Hearing Jiang Hai admit it, the girl also chuckled and asked.

"Oh, no. Looking at my age, I don't seem like someone who goes to school. I graduated a long time ago. I bought a manor here and raise cattle and fish," Jiang Hai explained.

"Wow, I didn't expect that you're also a capitalist." Hearing Jiang Hai's words, the girl narrowed her eyes and smiled. Jiang Hai realized she was joking, but it was the first time someone had said that to him.

"Let's introduce ourselves. My name is Karma-Clive. I work here, and I don't see many people my age around." Seeing Jiang Hai's shy smile, the girl took the initiative to extend her hand, shook hands with Jiang Hai, and introduced herself.

"My name is Jiang Hai. If you have time in the future, you're welcome to visit my manor." After shaking the girl's soft hand, Jiang Hai chuckled and said. The girl in front of him raised an eyebrow in surprise.

"Are you trying to date me?" Hearing the girl's words, Jiang Hai was embarrassed. He really didn't know how to interact with girls, and to be honest, he was just being polite.

"Okay, I was just kidding. Haha, it seems you shouldn't come here often. You should go to the left; the pace here is too slow for you. It'll make you dull," the girl said, laughing at Jiang Hai's expression. Hearing her hearty laughter, Jiang Hai touched his nose, smiling awkwardly.

"Hey, Kama, give me a glass of whiskey." At this moment, a female voice suddenly came from the door. Jiang Hai looked up and saw a woman dressed in an urban style walking in. She looked about the same age as Jiang Hai, with long straight blonde hair and a white suit. She was quite attractive and gave off a different kind of aura.

The woman walked forward and sat one seat away from Jiang Hai, supporting her head with one hand, as if she had a headache. Kama, who had been chatting with Jiang Hai, frowned after hearing the woman's request and turned back to the bar. Instead of pouring whiskey, Kama poured a glass of milk and placed it in front of the woman. When the woman raised her head and saw the milk, she was stunned.

"Sister, you still want to drink in your current state? Don't be ridiculous—drink this milk and go back to sleep." The girl knocked on the bar and spoke with an unhappy expression.

"It's not that I can't pay, really..." The woman mumbled but didn't argue. Instead, she picked up the milk and drank it.

Looking at the two sisters next to him, Jiang Hai couldn't help but observe them with curiosity. They looked alike, but he had to admit that both the older and younger sisters were beautiful, according to his taste.

"Hmm? You are...?" Perhaps feeling Jiang Hai's gaze, the older sister, who had been smiling bitterly, turned her head and said something strange when she met Jiang Hai's eyes. Jiang Hai felt a little embarrassed; it wasn't polite to stare. He smiled and nodded, then turned away.

Unexpectedly, the woman stood up, walked directly to Jiang Hai, sat down next to him, and continued staring at him. Jiang Hai felt even more awkward.

"Have we met before?" she asked in surprise.

"Well, it seems not..." After thinking for a moment, Jiang Hai realized he had never seen her before and said weakly.

"Hey? It's rare that my sister would take the initiative to talk to a guy. But sister, you're not being honest. This is the big capitalist I told you about, with a manor at home," Karma said, walking over with a smile. She teased her sister and Jiang Hai.

"Manor? That's right, you really don't recognize me? My name is Cindy Clive. I'm a teacher at Winthrop Town Elementary School. We met in Boston." Hearing her sister's words, the woman was more certain she had met Jiang Hai. She immediately explained to him.

Jiang Hai thought about it. It seemed she was the one he had run into in Boston, at the ship museum with some children. Later, he had encountered her at a dessert shop. There had been some misunderstandings, but if Delia George hadn't intervened and clarified things, Jiang Hai might have had to explain it to the police.

"Oh, I remember now, it's you." Jiang Hai immediately nodded after hearing Cindy's words.

"Well, it's easy to handle now that you remember. I know you're in Winthrop Town, and you have a manor. I wonder if I could visit it?" Cindy smiled, feeling reassured now that Jiang Hai remembered her.

Jiang Hai was a bit confused. Why was a beautiful woman asking to visit his house? Was it spring, and was he starting to see signs of blooming peach blossoms?

He wondered if Cindy Clive knew he was wealthy and was interested in him. If that was the case, he wasn't sure if he should agree. What if things got complicated?

But Jiang Hai couldn't bring himself to reject such a beautiful woman. He just stared at her, unsure of what to say.

"Of course you can, the little girl from the Clive family." Just as Jiang Hai was about to refuse, Edward Anderson's rough voice came from behind. Jiang Hai turned around and saw several big men standing behind him.

Compared to the cowboys Robbins had hired, these men looked even bigger.

When they saw Jiang Hai looking at them, they all nodded kindly.

"Uncle Anderson," Cindy said, noticing Edward's presence.

"Our boss's manor always welcomes you, right, boss?" Edward chuckled, then nudged Jiang Hai with his elbow, signaling him to accept.

A bit confused, Jiang Hai calmed down. He trusted Edward and swallowed the words he had wanted to refuse. He nodded at Cindy Clive.

"It's an honor." Once Jiang Hai agreed, Cindy seemed relieved, as if she had completed a task. She quickly made an appointment to visit Jiang Hai's manor at 10 a.m. the day after tomorrow. Before Jiang Hai could process it fully, she had already left after finishing her milk.

Kama, seeing her sister's urgency, apologized to Jiang Hai and went out to check on her sister.

After they left, only Edward, Jiang Hai, and the group of men were left in front of the bar.

Taking advantage of the quiet moment, Jiang Hai looked at the men standing before him. There were four in total: two white men, one black man, and one who looked Latin American. All were very strong.

As Jiang Hai looked at them, they also observed him.

"Boss, let me introduce you. This is Tommy Charles, the best sailor in Winthrop after me. Just kidding, but he really is a good sailor. When he was young, he worked in the Newfoundland fishery and set a record for catching the King of Fish for two years. He once caught 16 bluefin tuna in two months in George Bay. He's quite famous there. This time, I brought him in. He was originally planning to work in the North Sea fishery in Europe." Edward started the introductions, focusing on a white man around 45 or 46, slightly younger than Edward but just as big. Tommy Charles stood 1.92 meters tall, his skin tanned from the sun, and his head shaved clean, with a brown beard. He looked rough and intimidating.

He extended his hand to Jiang Hai, shaking it and saying, "Nice to meet you."

Jiang Hai shook his hand in return. After they were acquainted, Edward moved on to introduce the others.
