My Personal Gain Return! Even After Coming Back to Earth from Another World, I Can Still Use Magic? I Have an Item Box? Even If Earth Ends Up in Trouble, It’s All a Win for Me!

Chapter 1 - Summary of the Story

Before diving into the summary, here’s a note of caution:

This story was developed alongside the previous installment:
“Ore Toku” and “Ore Toku Return”.

In “Ore Toku”, a meteor strike plays a key role in the protagonist’s transition to another world.
In “Ore Toku Return”, the same meteor strike triggers earthquakes, tsunamis, and volcanic eruptions, which are depicted in the story.

Coincidentally, a devastating earthquake occurred on New Year’s Day 2024.
To those who lost their lives, we extend our deepest condolences, and to those facing hardships due to the disaster, we sincerely hope for a swift recovery.

This story is a sequel to the previous work:
“Ore Toku? Transported to Another World During Work, Where I Can Use Magic and Have an Item Box? What Is This World, It’s Totally for Me!”

The previous story followed the protagonist, Kaoru Kano, as he was transported to another world and gradually adapted to it with his newfound companions.

This sequel takes place ten years later, as Kaoru and his companions are given the option to return to Earth.

For those who haven’t read “Ore Toku” or don’t remember it well, here’s a brief summary of the previous story.
(There are about 200 chapters in the first story, so rereading it might be a challenge, right?)

Summary

The protagonist, Kaoru Kano, is a 49-year-old unmarried man working as a temp on the 22nd floor of Yamato Trading’s headquarters.

One day, during work, Kaoru suddenly loses consciousness and awakens in another world.

He wasn’t the only one transported—the entire 22nd floor of his office, along with 101 employees, was teleported as well.

But that wasn’t the only surprise.

Kaoru discovered that he could use magic and an item box from an online game he had played in his original world.
For most of his coworkers (with a few exceptions), who had no experience with such games, the new reality presented harsh challenges.

Kaoru registered with the adventurer’s guild (as is customary in such stories) and began building a foundation for survival in this new world.

But peace was hard to come by, as trouble kept arising.

From meddling coworkers barging into Kaoru’s rented house to goblin uprisings and employees fleeing settlement projects, chaos was everywhere.

Even though Kaoru had bid farewell to the relationships he had back on Earth, he found it difficult to detach himself emotionally and often got dragged into these issues.

Despite the challenges, Kaoru stumbled upon a stroke of luck: he managed to purchase a house with a shop attached to it.

He started a bento shop called Yamato-ya and finally began to enjoy a peaceful life with his companions and the orphans of the world.

Just as he started to embrace a tranquil daily life, more chaos ensued.
The 22nd-floor office that had fallen into a forest turned into a dungeon, and undead hordes began to rise.

It was during an undead uprising that S-rank adventurers from the royal capital arrived, revealing themselves to be Kaoru’s former gaming companions.

They shared shocking news: after Kaoru and the others were transported to the other world, Earth was struck by a meteor, forcing humanity to the brink of extinction.

Kaoru, preoccupied with surviving in the new world, had no idea that Earth was no longer a viable home.

However, Kaoru, who had little attachment to Earth, wasn’t fazed.
With reliable companions, he finally secured a peaceful life in the new world.

Ten years passed.

One day, the God of the other world appeared in the dreams of the chosen (those who were transported) and said:

“Will you choose the right path or the left? The decision is yours to make.”

Apparently, Earth had narrowly avoided complete annihilation, though the disasters had significantly reduced humanity’s population.

The God left them with a choice:
“Will you stay in this world, or return to Earth?”

Each individual was given ten days to decide.

Kaoru and the members of Yamato-ya chose to stay.
His gaming companions, unable to find their own place in the new world, chose to return to Earth.

Each chose their own path for the future.

… And that’s the story of the previous installment.
