Mex thought to himself, "What! This time they are organizing an OCA (Outcast Academy) competition. Every year they used to give outcast seats in professions, then why are they doing this this time? Mex was walking on the road, when he saw another black snake beast, which was seen going into an alley. Mex immediately ran after it. As soon as Mex entered the alley, he saw that the alley was closed from the front. After looking here and there, no Cratelus snake was seen there. Then his eyes fell on a girl, who was looking at the tiger.

That girl was very smart. Her round, black eyes and long, thick hair were making her innocent face even more beautiful. Mex's eyes were not moving away from the girl's face.

Mex went to the girl and asked, "Did you see any Cratelus snake coming here?"

The girl bowed her head and replied, "No, no Cratelus snake came here. By the way, what do you have to do with Cratelus snake?"

Mex was frightened by the girl's sudden question, because he could not tell her that he had to kill them to save his life. At the same time, a strange screen appeared in front of his eyes and disappeared immediately. Before Max could understand anything, a cold and robotic voice was heard:

"System notification: Your stamina is decreasing. Cause of weakness: hunger. Daily challenge received – eat black apple."

"Black apple?" Max mumbled in shock. "Is the system joking? I don't even have the money to eat poison, and he's talking about black apple."

Black apple, although considered the lowest-grade fruit, was still not easily available. Its price and rarity made it out of the reach of the poor.

Lost in his thoughts, Max stopped in front of a shop while walking on the road. The board outside the shop read: "Sell & Purchase."

On seeing the shop, he remembered the Beast Crystals he had collected after killing the Craytail Snake.

"I have heard that selling Beast Crystals fetches good money," Max said to himself.

Although this work was usually done by professional hunters, who would go across the huge walls and hunt dangerous beasts and sell their crystals. But Max gathered courage and went inside the shop.

Inside the shop, a bald man was working on the computer. Max walked forward and took out crystals from his pocket and said, "I want to sell these Beast Crystals." The shopkeeper examined the crystals and said, "These are basic-tier Beast Crystals. Due to being low-grade, their price is not high. I can give 1000 rupees for 6 crystals."

Max immediately agreed. This was enough for him. Hiding his happiness, he took the money.

"Get mangoes for a pittance," he thought to himself . With these crystals, he got money and killing beasts also increased his lifespan. While leaving, the shopkeeper said, "If you have more crystals, bring them to me."

Max nodded and stepped out of the shop.

Just then two boys entered the shop. One of them said, "I have heard that whoever defeats that boy today will get a Black Apple as a reward."

On hearing the name of Black Apple, Max became alert. He listened to their conversation carefully. Both the boys went to the shopkeeper and gave him 2000 rupees and said, "Black Apple."

The shopkeeper took the money and pressed a button, due to which a part of the wall slid apart and a secret door appeared. The boys went inside that gate.

Max saw all this and stood quietly near that gate.

"Is this related to my challenge?" he asked himself.

His hunger, the challenge of the system, and the mystery of the Black Apple – everything was pulling him to go inside that gate.

After seeing everything, Max came back and stood in front of the shopkeeper. Seeing Max, the shopkeeper said, "What happened, do you want to sell anything else?"

Max said nervously, "No, I don't want to sell anything. What is that... Black Apple."

On hearing the name of Black Apple, the shopkeeper said, "You can go inside after paying the registration fee of ₹100."

On hearing the registration fee of ₹1000, Max started hesitating. The happiness he felt a while ago on getting ₹1000, he was feeling more sad on paying ₹1000 just for registration. He was not even sure whether he would be able to buy the Black Apple or not. But he did not have any option. If he has to overcome the next challenge of the system, then he will have to do this. He gave ₹1000 with a sad face.

But he was also eager to eat the Black Apple. Maybe he will get some new power or some more days of his life will be extended. These unsolved questions of Max were making his life exciting.

After listening to the shopkeeper, Max composed himself and went inside through the secret passage.
