My Teacher Is Too Good For Others. So, I Decided To Marry Her.

Chapter 10: Poaching

"Master, please leave this alchemy pavilion branch and come to Gerald territory." –Mitchell.

"I can promise that we will treat you better than the Aldens."

With her keen ears, Elena got to listen to the conversation going on inside the room.

It seems the Mitchell guy is poaching Moscov.

Normally, the young master of a viscount shouldn't have come In this kind of situation. Yet here he is.

If it is to poach an alchemist, the Viscount should send someone with authority and dignity.

A successor of a noble shouldn't have the authority to do too much in the decision-making of the lord.

So, if it was the Viscount's wish, someone else should have come with the Viscount seal.

It should not have been this playboy who doesn't understand where to not put his nose in.

'Is it that the Viscount has no one competent enough?' -She asked herself. She needs more information about it.

Though it is none of her business, she has a bad habit of tangling with messy matters. And it doesn't hurt to have some free information.

Who knows when it may come in handy? So she keeps on listening to the conversation from the next room.

Mitchell's bodyguards are guarding the door so no one can get close. But at her level, there is no need to be close to listen in. The room isn't enchanted to block her keen perception.

It is most likely that the Moscov guy doesn't want to talk too long, or they didn't expect anyone could listen to them. But, no matter the reason, it made things easier for Elena.

"It isn't about benefits." –Moscov. "I'm in debt to the Alden family. I can't betray their trust."

"What kind of debt are you talking about? There's a price for everything. Just say it and let me see if I can fulfill the demand." –Mitchell.

"The Alden family has taken care of me since I was young and inexperienced. You should know I was just an orphan back then. They took me in and took care of me. They helped me hone my skills. I wouldn't be who I am if it weren't for them. So, you should give up and leave here. I can't help you in any way." – Moscov.

"Master, why are you lowering your head for that? Do you think Aldens would have been benevolent to you if they didn't see your talent?" –Mitchell said while acting righteous.

"They took care of you for their greed. And you have already paid them enough. It isn't worth it to rot in a place like this."

"Can you make any progress here? At this rate, you would bury all your talent. You should look into the future. And there is none here." -Mitchell.

"No matter what, I just can't leave here. Even if it was for greed, the truth is still the truth. It doesn't change the fact that Master Alden took care of me. And I plan to repay the debt that is owed. It's not like I can make any progress at my current age. So, I'll live here peacefully."

Moscov knows that there isn't really debt more to be paid. It also isn't a problem to leave this place.

But he also has his consideration. So he just said what came into his mind to offset Mitchell. As for the behind that...

First, he doesn't like the guy named Mitchell Gerald. He is unreliable. And when it comes to the power struggle, it is muddy water. The higher the rank, the higher the risk.

Second, it isn't like he would get anything better if he stood beside Mitchell and not any other descendant of Viscount.

Then why should he join someone so unreliable? The benefit he is offering is the same if he directly goes to Viscount Gerald. At their level, it is not all about money.

If Mitchell could offer something better, he might think about it. After all, there's a saying that 'men die for treasure'. And It applies even to him too. But he doubts that this playboy could offer him something like that.

Thirdly, he already has a family here. He wouldn't want to leave the place for no good reason. And when it is all about only a bit higher pay, he is reluctant to do that.

No, it isn't that Moscov doesn't have greed for money. It is just that the higher payment is just not high enough.

Then again, Baron Alden is not a slouch in this matter. He always makes sure that Moscov gets just enough benefits. Enough, so that he doesn't leave the town.

The payment he gets from the Alchemy Pavilion branch is indeed something that can't keep him here. But Baron Alden has his own methods. That is why even if it is a remote Baron's territory, this place can thrive so much.

Anyway, Moscov can't say these on Mitchell's face. So, he pretended to be righteous in front of him.

But hearing him talk, Mitchell put a big smile on his face.

"Don't say that. Progress isn't limited by age, it is only limited by desire." –Mitchell.

"Ho. That's a talk that is only soothing to the ear. No matter how much desire you have, you can't reach your destination blindly. That will take tremendous luck. Is that what you are asking me to do? To surrender myself to 'Luck'? If that is the case, I'd like to keep trying that here." –Moscov said this in disdain to the noble son who doesn't know anything about alchemy.

"Master, your analogy is true, but isn't it man's nature to hold it with both hands when the opportunity presents itself?" –Mitchell. He stretches both arms and says exaggerated manner.

"And by that you mean… what?" –Moscov. He didn't have any idea what this fool is talking about.

Mitchell didn't seem to notice the weird look Moscov was giving him. Keeping the same pose he says-

"I am your destined opportunity." –Mitchell.

Moscov's eye kept twitching. He just wanted to shove an exploding pill up his ass and send him on his way home. Who does he think he is?

On the other side, Elena was hearing the dramatic talk. And for a moment, she thought they were doing a play.

"Young master, if there is nothing more, I think our talk is over." -Moscov gave it his all to save the Viscount's second son's ass as he got up. If he has to hear any more of this, he wasn't sure what he might do.

"No, no. I still haven't made my offer yet. Please hear me out." -Seeing him leave Mitchell desperately with a bit of panic.

"You have more to say?" –Moscov turned back and looked at him coldly.

"Yes, yes. I can help you reach top level three yellow grade alchemist." –Mitchell.

"Boy, you are not joking. Are you?" –Moscov said, glaring at him. There wasn't anger in those eyes. They were the eyes of a fanatic.

Those eyes said everything that needed to be told.

'If Mitchell dared to lie to him, he would also dare to kill him.' -Is what those eyes said.

Mitchell felt a chill run down his spine. Even if Moscov wasn't a fighter, he was a higher-grade spiritualist than Mitchell. He can crush him with sheer force. There's no need for any technique.

Being a noble's son, the initial spirit he integrated into is high. But he wasn't able to upgrade it yet. So due to the age difference, Moscov is stronger than him.

"Of course not. How can I joke about something like that? You know about my connection with the first prince, right? I can make you acquainted with those top-grade alchemists in the capital. How about that?" –Mitchell. He was giving his all to maintain his composure in front of Moscov.

"Get me acquainted? Don't joke with me. Even the first prince doesn't have that much influence over the top-grade alchemists. Those guys could take one or two disciples from the younger generations. Do you think they waste their precious time to help me just because the first prince said it?" –Moscov was mad at this time. This brat was only trying to get his expectations high without giving anything solid.

'Kids these days just say anything.' -He thought as he tried to calm down.

He wasn't willing to listen to these superficial talks. He turned and walked away.

"I can get you a top-grade alchemy book." –just when Moscov was about to step out. His feet stopped at those words.

Alchemy books are the treasure of each alchemist. They wouldn't give them to anyone.

It is something extremely valuable to every Alchemist. It contains all the secrets of the Alchemist himself.

It is hard to advance in alchemy. It is like rowing a boat blindly in the open sea. It is almost impossible to get to the destination.

But giving an alchemy book is like giving a compass and a map to that sailor.

It is still hard work. But it is manageable.

So, when Moscov heard that Mitchell could give him a top-grade alchemy book, he couldn't just walk away from it.

"And how are you going to do that?" –Moscov.

"Please master, don't be so cold." –Mitchell.

"One of my predecessors seems to have got it from somewhere. It is in the family treasury. If you help me succeed as the new head of the family, I can get you what you want."

"You are making empty promises again. What good is it without any concrete proof?" –Moscov.

"Well, I can give you a proof. But you have to at least come with me in our domain. How about that?" –Mitchell.

Moscov felt reluctant. But this is indeed an opportunity that comes rarely.

It is also true that there are a lot of loopholes in Mitchell's speech.

But Moscov is someone who pursued Alchemy his whole life. So, it is impossible for him to just give up.

Then again, Baron Alden isn't in town. He can't consult with him either.

He didn't want to have anything to do with this unreliable shady guy.

"Young master. You give me some time to think." –Moscov.

"That's not a problem. I'll be returning today. But the next time I come back, I'll need an answer." Mitchell.

"So master, today I'll take my leave." -Saying so, Mitchell got out in a composed manner.

But he didn't leave the Alchemy Pavilion directly. He kept looking around. He wasn't looking for any medicine or anything. He was looking for Elena.

The figure of her has etched into his eyes. If he didn't get his hand on this premium meat, he won't be able to rest in peace.

But sadly, he couldn't find Elena or Olen anywhere.

Of course, Elena wouldn't be there. By that time, she took Olen and left the place. She didn't have any intention to make any contact with that guy.

Anyway, the thing that is useful to her has already come into her possession. So, there is no need to cause any unnecessary trouble.

Mitchell felt sad. He had some urgent matters to attend to. So, he left some of his men in the town to look into it.
