Naruto: Drinking Makes You Stronger

Chapter 16: [15] Perfect Preparations

Konoha Ninja School – A Remote Corner

"Hey, Leo, what are you doing?" Obito leaned against the wall, looking at Leo with some fear.

Obito was just starting to feel happy. Finally, the hard days seemed over. But now, Leo had cornered him again in this remote part of the school.

"Relax... Don't worry. Today, I've made perfect preparations! A 999-level deal for sure, and I'll get the best reward!" Leo hiccupped, clearly drunk.

Obito trembled. He didn't understand half of what Leo was saying, but "999-level deal" sounded ominous.

"Does this guy really want to hack me to death?!"

"Leo, we're here."

A voice as sweet as a melody reached Obito's ears.

"Rin! Are you here to save me?!" Tears welled up in Obito's eyes.

"Ah? You misunderstood, Obito." Rin gave him a shy smile. "Leo asked me to come to help. He's afraid that since he's drunk, he might accidentally hurt you too much. Didn't I learn some medical ninjutsu?"

Obito's face froze.

"So... you're not here to save me? You're here as Leo's accomplice?!"

Beside her, Kurenai began weaving hand signs. Obito felt his surroundings blur and shift.

"This is... genjutsu?!"

Obito was on the verge of tears.

"Leo really came prepared this time!"

"Leo, aim for this spot next."

"Control the depth of your cut. Within three centimeters should be fine."

Rin held Leo's hand and guided the sword toward Obito's trembling body.

"Don't worry, Obito," Rin said gently. "I'm learning medical ninjutsu quickly—you'll be fine."

Obito wanted to believe her, but the drunken sway of Leo's figure filled him with dread.

"Relax. My swordsmanship is very reliable," Leo slurred, hiccupping again.

Reliable?! Obito knew firsthand how "reliable" it was—when it came to cutting people!

"You're the one moving! What if I cut the wrong place?"

Leo waved his sword, annoyed.

"I-I'm not moving!" Obito cried out, trying to stay as still as possible.

"Alright, here we go."

"Slash!"

"AHHHHH!!!" Obito screamed.

"Oops, did I cut wrong?" Leo muttered, inspecting Obito's arm.

"Why is there still no reward?"

Still dissatisfied, Leo grumbled under his breath before stumbling away with the support of Rin and Kurenai.

Obito slumped in the corner, blood oozing slightly from the shallow cut.

"It's just a flesh wound," Leo had said.

But for Obito, the pain was more than physical.

Konoha Ninja School – Classroom

"Ah, today's lessons are done," announced Hideichi Tanaka cautiously from the podium, his eyes darting to the back of the room where Leo was sound asleep.

Tanaka had tried to convince himself that Leo wasn't that scary. After all, his strikes during practical tests were always measured. But Obito's bandaged body said otherwise.

"Um... Kurenai, Rin, could you wake Leo?" Tanaka asked politely.

"Of course, Teacher," Rin replied cheerfully.

She and Kurenai gently shook Leo's shoulder.

"Hmm... zzz..."

But all they got in response was Leo's deep, drunken snores.

Today, Leo had drunk far too much in pursuit of "better rewards " and was now lost in a deep slumber.
