Chapter 141: Breaking Through

Time flies, seasons change.

In the blink of an eye, two months had passed.

That evening, on the isolated island, inside the wooden house, Baishi sat cross-legged, his aura fluctuating erratically.

A deep roar echoed in his mind as the Nine-Tails growled, its voice filled with frustration.

"Baishi! Don't push your luck, you little brat!"

"Alright, alright, calm down. I was just testing out a new ability. Don't be so stingy," Baishi replied, half amused.

But his words only made the Nine-Tails angrier. It roared incessantly in his consciousness, making his head throb.

Annoyed, Baishi decided to completely block off the sealed space.

In an instant, silence returned.

Moments later, Baishi opened his eyes, excitement flashing within them.

As he expected, in two months, both his Energy Absorption and Mental Resistance had surpassed their limits.

"System, show me my status!"

Previously, to utilize the Nine-Tails' chakra, he needed to extract it, let it flow through his body, and allow the surplus to seep out through his skin. Only then could Absorbing Skin filter and convert the chakra into his own.

Now, however, with Energy Absorption, the moment Nine-Tails' chakra entered his body, it was automatically absorbed, filtered, and converted—no intermediary steps required.

Moments ago, when Baishi tested this new ability by tearing a small gap in the seal to let the Nine-Tails emerge, the beast was immediately forced to retreat, shocked by how rapidly its chakra was being siphoned.

"The efficiency is incredible," Baishi murmured. "If only I could store more chakra, I wouldn't need the seal anymore."

This sparked an old thought: the need for better chakra storage.

Normally, most chakra users could only utilize about one-third of their total chakra at any given time. The remaining two-thirds existed in its raw form, stored as physical and spiritual energy within the body.

For most shinobi, this wasn't an issue because their chakra system naturally replenished itself during normal use. However, in situations requiring massive chakra output, this led to short-lived "empty periods," which could be dangerous.

While the limitations of the chakra network usually prevented most shinobi from exhausting all their chakra at once, Baishi's situation was unique.

With his system's abilities, he could theoretically deplete all available chakra in one instant, leaving himself vulnerable.

"I need a solution," he thought, narrowing his eyes.

The answer was to eliminate the bottleneck. Instead of storing excess energy as raw material, he would store it as usable chakra.

Tsunade's Yin Seal was an excellent reference point. However, Baishi didn't want a mere storage tank. He envisioned a core—something capable of freely storing and releasing chakra in its purest form.

Lost in thought, Baishi weighed the logistics of his plan.

Eventually, he shook his head, shelving the idea for later. For now, his focus returned to the status panel.

Alongside Energy Absorption, his Mental Resistance had also surpassed its limits, evolving into Mental Fortress.

This ability not only provided exceptional resistance against mental attacks but also shielded his consciousness from external influences, enhancing his mental clarity and stability.

Baishi had always been wary of genjutsu like Izanami and Kotoamatsukami, which could alter a target's will. But with Mental Fortress, he finally felt some relief.

Additionally, Black Zetsu's mental fusion technique was no longer a concern. Baishi was certain that Zetsu could no longer manipulate or infiltrate his mind.

"It's a huge step forward," Baishi muttered with satisfaction.

His gaze shifted to Dust Release, which had progressed to level VII (32.5%) in five months. While it was quickly catching up to his Wood Release at level VIII, its practical application still lagged. Despite its level, Baishi could only harness its power at a level equivalent to V.

"I still have a long way to go with Dust Release," he acknowledged.

Closing the status panel, Baishi rose from his meditation and stepped outside. A thought activated his Chakra Cloak, while his Wind Wings unfolded majestically.

Launching into the sky, Baishi ascended high above the island, surveying its expanse below.

With a rapid sequence of hand seals, a blinding white beam of light erupted, slicing through the landscape and obliterating a large section of the island.

Standing amidst the devastation, Baishi smirked.

The power he wielded now was leagues beyond what he once thought possible.
