Chapter 3: Chapter 3 Nohara Rin
Shimizu Kenjin is dead.
He hadn't been able to fulfill his pact with Mizuki after all, and Shimizu Kenjin had basically spent his entire life under the cloud of war.
Failed to protect Chiyoko, failed to clear up a misunderstanding with Chiyoko, and missed his last birthday appointment with his own son.
This man's life ended with a lot of regret.
Shimizu Mizuki kept her head down as she gathered up the last of Kenjin's belongings sent by the Anbu.
Just a few belongings, and the body will be collected by the Konoha Anbu and buried in the Konoha mausoleum after the funeral.
Until then, the family can always go to the Wartime Reception Department to see the last of their family members.
Among the relics, a rectangular gift box stood out from the rest of the war-torn, weather-beaten objects.
Apparently, this was a birthday gift that Shimizu Kenjin had prepared in advance for Mizuki.
Shimizu Mizuki hesitated for a moment, but finally chose to untie the ribbon and open the box.
Although he could have guessed from the look of the box, he was still a little shocked when he opened it.
Earlier, Mizuki had mentioned to Shimizu Kenjin that he had envisioned a Lightning Release jutsu, and that if there was a weapon that used chakra-conducting metal as a material, it might be able to become an unmarked jutsu.
This was, of course, Mizuki making it up as he went along, just trying to get a conversation going between father and son.
He didn't realize that Kenjin had remembered this, and in the box was a short sword in its sheath.
Shimizu Mizuki drew his short sword, which was a straight sword, the blade was about 30 centimeters long, which was a relatively long kind among the short sword types.
The blade flashed with a white cold aura, giving the illusion that it seemed to cut the night open between swings.
It was reasonable to say that although Shimizu Kenjin was an elite Jonin, definitely considered to be a high-income earner in the Konoha or even the Naruto world, such a weapon forged entirely with chakra-conducting metal still wasn't something he could afford.
Mizuki remembered that the entire Konoha seemed to be the only ones who had used this kind of advanced ninjutsu were the second generation Hokage and the future Asuma.
[It can't be Father-sama's trophies from the battlefield, can it?]
As Shimizu Mizuki thought this, he realized that there was a card bolted to the hilt of the shortsword.
[Happy Birthday - Presented by Uchiha Yan with Shimizu Kenjin ]
Shimizu Mizuki still had some recollection of the name Uchiha Yan, who seemed to be her father's teammate, and had been given gifts by him on each of her birthdays before.
Since this was the case, it was not surprising that the Uchiha Clan had a very close relationship with the Shinobi Cat Clan, which held a large portion of the Shinobi world's high-level ninjutsu forging and trafficking.
Considering this relationship, then the origin of this short sword was clear, but this Uchiha Yan seemed to have an unusual relationship with Shimizu Kenjin.
After all, despite being very close to the Shinobi Cat Clan, the short sword was still not some random item that could be acquired.
But it didn't matter, Shimizu Mizuki close the sheath and put it back in the gift box, carefully tying the ribbon again with the intention of opening it again on her birthday.
There's an idiom called seeing things and thinking about them, and when Shimizu Mizuki packing up her things, there were always more cluttered thoughts that clogged up her head.
He simply lay down on the living room floor and began to think about whether or not he was grieving because he really did think of Kenjin as his father.
Or is he sad because Kenjin's departure reminds him of his family from his previous life.
Frankly speaking, when he heard the notice of Shimizu Kenjin's death, there was nothing that saddened Mizuki to the extent that he couldn't breathe.
While it's true that he's ready to take on a new life with the mindset of a newborn in this one, to be honest, Mizuki doesn't get to spend much time with Kenjin.
Since Chiyoko's death, Shimizu Kenjin has gone crazy, venting his frustrations, both guilt and hatred, on the battlefield, a situation that didn't gradually get better until Mizuki was three years old.
As a result, Shimizu Kenjin and Mizuki also got together less and less, coupled with the fact that Shimizu Kenjin's character was also silent and less talkative, and even most of the topics of conversation between father and son were brought up by Mizuki.
But is it really?
Mizuki only felt as if a wave of emotions were taking root in her heart.
A knock on the door woke up Mizuki in the middle of the next morning.
"Knock, knock, knock."
Shimizu Mizuki fell asleep in the living room at some point last night, thanks to the person who knocked on the door, or else she had been lying on the living room floor, and even though she was in good physical condition in this life, it was ultimately a small child's body, and the odds were that she would get sick.
Mizuki got up and shook her body to open the door.
At the door is Mrs. Nohara's daughter, Nohara Rin.
While Rin and Shimizu Mizuki in the manga certainly knows each other, in reality, the two met at the Takeover.
One of the reasons Mrs. Nohara came to help out at the Takeover in the first place was to help Rin find some playmates.
"Good morning, Mizuki, I don't think you've had breakfast yet, my mom made some thick egg yakitori and went to work, and I'm kind of lonely eating alone, so I'd like to ask you to eat with me...is that okay?"
Nohara Rin said carefully, looking at Shimizu Mizuki with a somewhat evasive look.
This is a lie.
Naturally, Rin had come here because she had heard from her mother about the passing of Mr. Shimizu Kenjin, Mizuki's father.
Though her mother did say that Mizuki was a good enough child to pull himself together.
But she was really worried about the state of Mizuki and had to visit no matter what to feel at ease.
Naturally, Shimizu Mizuki could guess what Rin was thinking, but he thought he was fairly calm, and in any case, it wasn't like him to stand outside the door, so he greeted Rin.
"Speaking of which I really haven't eaten yet, I seem to have overslept today, thank you Rin, big help, come on in."
"Well, excuse me."
Rin entered Shimizu's house carrying a lunch box.
Shimizu Mizuki was really hungry and took a big bite of the thick egg yaki that had already been cut up. Mrs. Nohara's thick egg yaki was really one of a kind, not only was the ratio of egg and milk perfect, even the appearance was exquisitely beautifully done.
Even when lightly flicked with chopsticks, it can be seen wobbling like a pudding, revealing its amazing elasticity.
Rin watched Shimizu as he wolfed down her food and couldn't help but think that it would have been nice if what he ate had been made by herself, but if it had been made by herself would that Mizuki still have liked it so much.
Shimizu Mizuki see that Rin did not move her chopsticks, but just propped her hands on her cheeks and looked at himself in a daze.
[What's going on, is she scared by the way I eat, it's strange, wasn't that how I ate at the takeover before.]
In the Land of Fire, eating someone else's cooking while wolfing it down and winding up is the greatest recognition of the other person's culinary prowess.
So in the takeover, every time Mizuki ate like this, Mrs. Nohara would laugh and even put out words.
"Oooh, it would be great if Mizuki-san could be my daughter, so I could see Mizuki-san eating all over the house."
As for why it's a daughter, that's off the table for now.
Anyway, facing the wandering Rin, Mizuk coughed lightly and reminded.
"Thick egg roast hardens in texture when it cools, isn't that what you taught me before? Rin."
"Ah~ sorry sorry sorry ( 0 x 0 )"
Upon hearing the voice of Mizuki, Rin finally came back to her senses and began to destroy the thick egg yaki she had in front of her.
In fact, she hadn't even heard what Mizuki had just said, but she was too embarrassed to ask Mizuki, so anyways, she just kept her head down and ate now.
That's what Mizuki taught her, just find something to do when you're feeling awkward and make yourself appear busy.
[Come to think of it, what Mizuki taught me always comes in handy.]
Rin was once again in a state of delirium.
Shimizu Mizuki was speechless, is she an eighty year old woman?
However, after this episode, Shimizu Mizuki's mood a lot better, people always have to look forward.
After all, he was an adult at heart anyhow, and he couldn't just hesitate in place like a little kid.
Cheer up Shimizu Mizuki, since you've been reborn in a new life you have to show your real skills.
Thinking of this, Shimizu Mizuki reached out his sinful chopsticks and took away the thick egg yaki from Rin's plate, shoving a bite into his own big mouth, and after hearing the other party's soft exclamation of surprise, he chewed it over and over again while saying in a vague voice.
"Mama Rin, come help me clean up the house, I've got the disease that kills me if I do too much housework~."
Rin really heard her this time, and she, who had originally seen Mizuki's move to bring the villains, puffed up her cheeks like an angry pufferfish, and then immediately deflated like a balloon after hearing Shimizu Mizuki's plea.
"Fine, but you're not allowed to bully me anymore, Mizuki, and there's no such thing as an illness that's just made up on the spot when you hear it."
"It's a little difficult, I'll try."
"Ah (`Δ´)"
