Chapter 20: Chapter 20

Naruto stirred in his sleep, but what greeted him wasn't the peaceful slumber he had hoped for. Instead, an overwhelming sense of unease swept over him as he found himself in an unfamiliar scene. His surroundings were dark, distorted, and the air felt thick with a palpable, dangerous energy.

A figure stood tall before him—a woman with long flowing hair, her beauty both captivating and terrifying. She wore a confident, almost cruel smile as she loomed over an older man lying helpless beneath her. The man, clearly defeated and broken, seemed to be struggling to move, but her presence kept him immobilized.

"Haha," the woman laughed, her voice dripping with arrogance. "Calling yourself immortals, really too arrogant and distasteful. Your kind is pitiful, so weak and fragile but even then, you dared to stand up to me. I have to say, you are pretty stupid, aren't you, old man?"

Naruto couldn't make out her face, but her words cut through him like ice. The power she exuded was undeniable, and the aura around her screamed danger. He could feel her dominance, the complete and utter control she held over everything in this place. There was no doubt in his mind—this woman was not someone he should ever cross paths with.

'Why am I seeing this?' Naruto thought, his mind racing. 'How is she connecting to me? Is she an Olympian?' The scene before him was murky, unclear, but the presence of this woman sent a chill down his spine. He tried to focus on the vision, but the image flickered, slipping through his mental grasp.

"Now, old man," the woman continued, her voice dripping with mock sweetness, "there is no point in destroying this world, so you'll be my pet from now on. I tell you to bark, you will bark. And when I tell you to fall dead, you fall dead. Simple instructions that a simpleton like you should understand. Now, bark."

Her words, cold and dismissive, filled the air. The man, once defiant, stood before her, his body floating in mid-air, his eyes burning with defiance. But it didn't last long. With a mere look from the woman, his resistance shattered. A flicker of fear passed across his features, replaced by a deep, painful resignation.

Naruto watched, feeling a growing sense of disgust in his stomach. 'How could someone be this cruel?' he thought. The woman, without a hint of empathy, reached out and placed a finger on the man's forehead. The sound that followed was enough to make Naruto's blood run cold.

A soul-shattering scream erupted from the man. It was a scream of agony, unlike anything Naruto had ever heard. The kind of pain that felt unearthly, the kind that made him wish he could turn away. The scream echoed in his mind, reverberating as though it was meant for him to hear, a reminder of just how powerless one could be against such a force.

"Dog," she said, her voice now sickly sweet, "you don't seem to understand simple things, so I might have to train you. Now, will you bark, or do you wish to continue this all day?"

Her words sent a shiver down Naruto's spine, her tone sugary yet dripping with malice. It was as though she enjoyed toying with the man, savoring every moment of his degradation.

The man, broken and defeated, let out a single whimper before finally succumbing. With tears streaming down his cheeks and a hollow, lifeless expression in his eyes, he barked like a dog. "Woof, woof," he muttered, the sound of it hollow and heartbreaking.

Naruto felt a surge of revulsion. 'How disgusting,' he thought, disgusted by the woman's sadistic nature. 'Why would anyone want to play such distasteful games?'

As if sensing his presence, the woman's gaze shifted, her eyes narrowing in his direction. A smile spread across her lips, the same cruel smile she had worn throughout the entire scene. She tilted her head, as if intrigued.

"Ah, we have an observer," she said softly, her voice carrying over the quiet of the moment. "Really interesting. We will see each other soon. Boy, take care and wait for our meeting."

The words were like a warning, a promise of something sinister to come. The woman's smile widened as her eyes locked onto him, and in that instant, Naruto felt a wave of danger that gripped his chest, suffocating him.

The vision flickered, and with a start, Naruto woke. His heart was racing, his body drenched in cold sweat. He had seen enough to know that the woman from his dream was no ordinary being. Her power was something beyond what he could comprehend, and the fact that she had noticed him in such a way sent a chill down his spine.

'She saw me,' Naruto thought, his mind scrambling to process what had just happened. 'And she must be a strong being to do that. I might have just caught the attention of a psycho.'

The weight of the dream lingered in his mind, but he couldn't afford to dwell on it for too long. He needed to move forward. He had always known that darkness lurked in the corners of the world, but this encounter felt different—dangerous. It wasn't just a warning. It was a declaration.

'Enough rest,' Naruto decided, shaking off the lingering dread. 'I should continue.'

With renewed determination, he stood up, feeling a sense of lightness in his body. His steps felt lighter, his muscles no longer as fatigued as they had been before.

'I must have needed the rest,' he concluded, a small, almost imperceptible smile crossing his face.

But in the pit of his stomach, the unease remained. That woman had seen him, and her words haunted him. He couldn't shake the feeling that his encounter with her was far from over.

The voice was soft but filled with an undeniable power—ancient, wise, and authoritative. It spoke directly to the depths of the soul. "Child, it is time for you to wake up, the world needs you."

As the words resonated, the world around me cracked and shattered like fragile glass. The once unbroken reality dissolved into nothingness, and I was thrust back into the real world. My senses exploded with newfound power, a power that felt like it had been dormant within me all along, waiting for the right moment to be unleashed.

My body pulsed with energy, raw and overwhelming. It was a feeling I had never experienced before. I was brimming with strength, the likes of which I could never have imagined. It was exhilarating, like I had become something greater than myself. Hope filled my heart like a flood, joy and excitement sweeping over me, and for the first time in so long, I felt truly alive.

'Thank you, Old Sage, for this blessing,' I silently thanked, looking toward the place where my beloved should be. He was always the center of my world, the one who gave my life meaning. Now, with this newfound power, I was certain I could finally stand beside him, share in his happiness, and protect him like I had always wanted.

But as I turned, my heart sank into an abyss. My beloved—my dear, cherished one—was lying lifeless, his body lost to the world. His murderer stood nearby, laughing, basking in the death of my most precious person. The sight of him, the sight of my beloved's death, was too much to bear.

The shock was overwhelming. My body trembled, and I felt as though the ground had been ripped from beneath me. Then, a scream tore its way from my throat—a scream fueled by pain, rage, and unbearable grief.

"AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!"

The world shuddered with the force of my scream. The heavens themselves seemed to tremble, and the earth groaned under the pressure of my wild, uncontrolled chakra. The land beneath me was torn asunder, mountains cracked and fell, seas erupted in monstrous tsunamis. The destruction was beyond comprehension.

I was consumed by pain, grief, and an unstoppable desire for vengeance. My focus sharpened, and in that singular moment, there was only one goal in my mind: the one who had taken my beloved's life must die.

My eyes burned with rage and power, and my body moved with an agility and ferocity I had never known before. There was nothing holding me back now. The world around me seemed insignificant in comparison to the fire that had ignited in my chest. I moved like a blur, a force of nature, a storm unleashed.

I was covered in a dark shroud of energy, similar to the one my beloved had once worn. I appeared before the Uchiha before he could even react. The man, standing so confidently moments ago, had no chance against my fury. He was the cause of my beloved's suffering, and I would erase him from existence.

But as I raised my fist to strike, something caught my eye—the Uchiha's eyes. His Sharingan. I hesitated for a fleeting moment, the knowledge of what those eyes could do slowing my movements. I couldn't destroy them. They were valuable, and I could use them.

I held back the force of my punch, but the sheer power of my strike still obliterated him. The Uchiha's body was erased from existence, reduced to nothingness by the immense energy contained in my fist. The explosion of force left nothing in its wake but devastation. The collateral damage was so immense that it shook the very foundations of the earth.

Once, I might have hesitated before causing such destruction. I would have been concerned about the lives lost in the process, the consequences of my actions. But now, none of that mattered. The world had stolen my beloved from me, and without him, nothing mattered. All that was left was rage.

The Uchiha was gone, his torment had ended. I looked down at his eyes, floating in the air before me. A plan began to form in my mind. I could use these eyes—these cursed eyes—to bring back my beloved. I would revive him, and we would be together once more. Nothing would stand in our way.

Hatake Kakashi. His name came to mind, and I seethed. He had proclaimed to care for my beloved, but he had done nothing to protect him. Nothing to help him grow strong enough to stand on his own. If he had, maybe things would have been different. But now, Kakashi had failed. He was nothing more than a failure, a pawn in this cruel game.

I focused on Kakashi's presence and seized him, paralyzing him with my power. I would use him as a sacrifice—he was a tool, nothing more. He had to pay the price for his incompetence. I had no pity left in my heart.

The world had stolen my beloved, but I would make it pay. I would find his soul, and I would bring him back. I had been freed from the invisible hand that had once held me back, but my anger would not allow me to forget. I would track down whatever force had taken him from me, and I would destroy it.

Anything that stood in my way would cease to exist. Anyone who had caused harm to my beloved had no right to live.

My rage had blinded me, and as I began to gather power to obliterate the world itself, a golden ball of energy formed in front of me. The power was intoxicating, overwhelming. But then, I remembered my beloved's love for the world. He had cared for it, even when it had caused him pain. And in that moment, I understood. I couldn't destroy everything.

I dispelled the attack, but the backfire sent me hurtling into the ground. The blast devastated everything around me, leveling everything in its path. The survivors of the war—those who had somehow managed to escape the chaos—were wiped out by the aftershock, with only a few lucky enough to remain.

I lay on the ground, my body battered, my spirit broken, but I felt nothing. The sky above me was empty, a void. It was a familiar emptiness, the kind that had followed me since my beloved's death.

But then, I felt it—a familiar energy, one that resonated with mine. It was like a beacon, calling out to me.

I knew what I had to do.

"Wait for me, beloved," I whispered, my voice breaking. "I will find you. I will bring you back home."

The world might have fallen apart, but I would rebuild it, piece by piece, until my beloved stood by my side once more.

Naruto:

Naruto slowly regained his footing, the dust and grime of battle settling around him as he wiped his brow. The battle had taken everything he had—every ounce of his will and power—but it had been necessary. Kampe, the former jailer of Tartarus, was an opponent unlike any he had faced before. Yet, despite her terrifying strength and monstrous form, Naruto had emerged victorious.

As he caught his breath, he heard a soft voice, almost like a whisper carried by the wind.

"Do you feel better now?" Nemesis asked, her presence shadowy yet somehow comforting. She had always been there, a silent observer, providing him with clarity and strength when his mind was clouded.

Naruto, still processing the intensity of the battle, nodded slightly. "Yes, I feel like my mind isn't under pressure anymore," he replied, though his voice carried a note of uncertainty. He still had so much to do, so much to fight for. His world was still on the brink of destruction, and his partners—his friends—were still out there, uncertain and at risk.

Nemesis, as usual, could read him effortlessly. She didn't press him to talk further but instead faded back into the darkness, leaving Naruto to process his feelings alone. She was his constant companion, a presence that allowed him to feel less isolated on this long and treacherous journey. In the depths of the underworld, where darkness reigned, having her nearby gave him a sliver of comfort.

Naruto turned his gaze toward the path ahead. The journey wasn't over. The swamp across the mountain range still lay ahead, and he knew that more trials awaited him. With each step, the weight of his responsibilities pressed down on him, but his resolve only grew stronger.

He continued on, but suddenly, an ominous feeling washed over him. Danger. Instinctively, he rolled to the side, barely escaping the deadly swipe of a flame-whip that cut through the air with incredible speed. The ground beneath where he had just stood was scorched and cracked, a deep line burned into the earth.

'That was fast, and that whip looks extremely dangerous,' Naruto thought, already calculating his next move. He quickly scrambled to his feet, his mind alert and focused.

His eyes narrowed as he scanned the area, and Nemesis, ever the guide, spoke in his mind. "The creature before you is Kampe, a former jailer of Tartarus. She's far more powerful than she looks."

Naruto had only a moment to observe her fully, but what he saw sent chills down his spine. Kampe's form was monstrous, an abomination of human, dragon, and serpent features. Her human head was crowned with writhing snakes that hissed menacingly. Her body was part human, part reptilian, with a dragon's lower half and massive claws. The dark wings that sprouted from her back seemed to eclipse the sky, casting a long, menacing shadow.

And then there was her tail—a venom-dripping scorpion's tail, capable of destroying anything in its path. The serpents that slithered from her legs were unnervingly fast, their darting movements more dangerous than any serpent he had encountered. Her very presence felt like an acid fog, burning everything it touched.

Naruto didn't hesitate. With a deep breath, he summoned his powers, manipulating the earth beneath him and turning it into quicksand to ensnare the vipers that attacked from all directions. Wind-based attacks followed, pushing back the toxic fog and buying him a moment to gather his strength.

But Kampe was no ordinary opponent. She blocked his wind attacks with ease, her immense wings flapping powerfully to create a barrier of defense. She was strong, her resilience evident even as his attacks landed. Her voice, when she spoke, was a cruel rasp that filled the air.

"My master has declared that he will grant me power beyond my current realm if I bring him your head. So be a good boy and extend that pretty head of yours."

The force of her words made Naruto's ears ring with a sharp, painful sting, but he didn't flinch. He observed her carefully, noting every movement, every shift in her form. He was ready.

With a quick mental command, chains erupted from the earth, wrapping around Kampe's limbs, restricting her movements. It was enough to momentarily bind her, giving Naruto the opening he needed. Using his wind and lightning powers to increase his speed, he broke the sound barrier, slashing at Kampe with his sword.

But despite the strength of his strike, Kampe was unfazed. She used her whip to block his attack, the intense heat of the flames searing into his hand. The pain was unbearable as the weapon melted in his grasp, almost fusing with his skin.

'My resistance to flames isn't enough,' Naruto thought, gritting his teeth through the pain. 'I need to connect deeper with the world...'

There was no time to hesitate. His mind was made up. There were no more doubts, no more fears. His spirit burned with an unyielding resolve. He tapped into the depths of his power, and with a surge of energy, his body began to change. Horns sprouted from his head, and dark wings unfurled from his back. His eyes, once human, turned a deep, endless black—like two abyssal voids that swallowed everything around them.

Kampe paused, a flicker of doubt crossing her face. For the first time, she felt fear. The air around them crackled with the intensity of Naruto's newfound power. It was clear—he was no longer the same.

The battle intensified, the forces of nature itself bending to his will. But even as the fight raged on, Naruto could feel his body breaking down. The immense power he had just tapped into was taxing, and the pressure was starting to wear him down. He wasn't a demi-immortal, but something more—something different.

Nemesis, watching from the shadows, spoke up in quiet surprise. "These titans are returning to their original power. It must be because Naruto isn't a demi, but something greater..."

She continued to observe the clash, noting the unexpected twists in the battle. Naruto's opponent was a titan, a being of unimaginable strength—but Naruto's determination was proving stronger.

Then, out of nowhere, a burst of flames—a bird made of pure fire—collided with Kampe's whip, creating an opening for Naruto to finish the battle. Without hesitation, he took the opportunity.

Naruto's foot shot forward, charged with a mysterious flame power. His kick landed with unrelenting force against Kampe's head, and in an instant, her monstrous form was no more. Her head was obliterated by the sheer magnitude of the blow, and her body collapsed into a heap of ashes.

The battle was over, but Naruto wasn't unscathed. He fell to his knees, exhausted and drained, his body trembling as the power he had used began to dissipate. His form returned to its normal state, but cracks still marred his skin, evidence of the toll the transformation had taken.

"Thank you," Naruto murmured, his voice strained as he looked up. He wasn't sure what to expect, but before him stood a woman with fiery red hair, her presence warm and comforting in a way that seemed to fill the empty spaces of his heart.

The feeling of relief, of warmth, washed over him. She was here. He wasn't alone.

And as he caught his breath, he knew that, no matter how much the world had changed, he would continue moving forward. For his partners. For his world. And for the people he loved.
