Chapter 49: Chapter 16

Naruto woke early on the third day, before the call for breakfast, and found himself walking outside to see Bell-mere tending to the garden. The sky was still a soft shade of dawn, and the light glimmered off the plants, giving the whole scene an ethereal quality. Naruto couldn't help but admire her for a moment—the way the golden hues of the morning sun kissed her skin, the graceful way she moved among the plants. Her beauty, combined with the peaceful serenity of nature, captivated him. He slowly walked toward her, his footsteps silent.

"What a blessed day, your beautiful form and nature," he called out in a soft, almost reverent tone. "Bell-mere, it seems you have more qualities that I like. You're really talented at agriculture."

Bell-mere, caught off guard, jumped back in alarm at his sudden presence, her body tensing as she glanced at him cautiously. "Thanks for the compliment, but what do you want?" she asked, her voice a little more defensive than she intended.

Naruto took a few steps closer, his presence overwhelming in a way that made her uneasy. "I just wanted to see you up close. I love nature more than anyone in the world," he said smoothly, walking toward her.

Her instincts kicked in as she retreated, a frown creasing her brow. "I don't care, please don't do this." There was a subtle desperation in her voice, a plea to maintain distance, but Naruto wasn't one to easily be deterred.

"Do what?" Naruto asked innocently, his gaze never leaving her.

"Why are you interested in me?" Bell-mere's voice wavered slightly, as if she feared the answer.

Naruto's expression shifted, a dangerous smile curving his lips. "Who knows? Love comes unexpectedly. Why don't you just give in?"

Her stomach churned at his words, both tempting and unsettling. "Your words are tempting, but you are weak. It would be better to find someone else," she said, her voice growing more aggressive as she tried to push him away, hoping to deter him with her strength.

Naruto's expression darkened, the smile vanishing as his eyes narrowed. "I don't like it when people call me weak," he said, his tone dangerous, as he closed the gap between them. His speed was like a blur, and before Bell-mere could react, both of them were suddenly high in the sky, suspended by his sheer force.

"Now do you see how strong I am?" Naruto's voice was cold and savageness laced his words, sending a wave of fear through Bell-mere. She clutched onto him tightly, her body shaking from the height and the overpowering force of his presence.

"Yes," she muttered softly, her heart racing from both the terror and the vulnerability of the situation.

"Please, let me down," she said, the words shaky as she realized how powerless she was in this moment.

Naruto glanced down at her, his voice softer now. "Okay." He released her, but in a flash, Bell-mere's instincts kicked in. She quickly tightened her hold on him, unwilling to let go, her body pressed closely to his.

Naruto's apology came with a surprising gentleness. "Sorry about that, it's just that I really dislike it when people call me weak," he explained, his voice now entirely empty of the previous aggression. It sounded genuine, but it was nothing more than a calculated mask he wore.

Bell-mere didn't answer immediately, trying to steady her breath, trying to calm her racing heart. She was furious with him, but she couldn't shake the feeling that she was partially to blame for goading him earlier. Yet, it didn't make what he did any less wrong. She felt a mixture of fear, guilt, and something else, something she didn't fully understand.

"I really like you, Bell," Naruto continued, his tone shifting to something softer, almost intimate. "Why won't you accept it? I'll be the shield for your family. I only want you to be my support. Nothing else. I can provide for you, and help the little ones get a good future. Nami could become an elite, like me, and Nojiko... she has your talent with plants. I could help you both step into cultivating medical plants. It's a good future. For all of you."

His words sank into her heart, settling there like a seed. He wasn't being aggressive now, but he was offering something—something she could never have dreamed of on her own. The possibility of a better life, of stability, of protection. She felt a deep desire to believe in what he was saying, to give in to the comfort and hope that came with his words.

But one thought lingered in her mind, tugging at her. "Aren't I too old for you?" she asked quietly, unsure whether she could truly accept him. The insecurity rose within her—could a young man like him ever truly love someone like her?

"No," Naruto said, shaking his head. "I'm older than I look." Then, without warning, he leaned in and kissed her.

Bell-mere froze, unable to react. There was no resistance from her, not this time. Everything in her that had been holding her back, all the logic and the reasons why she shouldn't, started to crumble away. She didn't fight it; her heart, worn down by years of loneliness, finally allowed her to feel the softness of the affection he was offering. She hadn't realized just how much she craved it—someone to hold her, to show her tenderness.

Naruto pulled back slowly, his eyes softening as he gazed at her. "I will treat you with love as long as I'm alive," he said with genuine emotion, something rare and honest in his words, even though it was all part of his strategy.

Bell-mere hesitated, her emotions conflicted, but a sense of longing and desire to feel loved finally overtook her. She nodded slowly, a faint blush coloring her cheeks, though she couldn't bring herself to speak the words. Naruto could see it clearly: she had listened to her heart's desire. Her resistance was broken.

Naruto smiled, his lips curving into a playful grin as he leaned in and gently bit her cheek. "I really like the different expressions you show," he said, his voice filled with amusement. "I can't believe nobody took you as their wife."

Bell-mere pouted, her voice carrying a mixture of affection and frustration. "Nobody was interesting enough or aggressive as you," she said, a small smile tugging at the corner of her lips despite herself.

Naruto's eyes gleamed with satisfaction. He had succeeded in breaking her down, but more than that, he had won her over with the promise of something she had long desired—someone to care for her and her family, someone who would keep her safe. His conquest was not just physical; it was emotional, and now, Bell-mere was under his influence.

Naruto landed gracefully with the girls in tow, both of them laughing with joy. The wind had swept through their hair as they soared through the sky, their faces illuminated with excitement. The look in their eyes was a reflection of pure delight. Naruto couldn't help but grin as he touched down gently with them, the laughter of the two girls still echoing in his ears.

"Mister, can I also fly with you?" Nami asked, her voice filled with hope.

"Me too!" Nojiko added, her exuberance unexpected for someone so mature.

Naruto smiled softly, feeling a sense of fulfillment. "Why not?" He replied, his tone light. With a single motion, he picked both girls up under his arms, effortlessly lifting them into the air. They soared, spinning in circles above the ground, the air rushing past them in an exhilarating blur.

The girls shrieked with glee, their laughter ringing through the sky, a stark contrast to the fear and sadness they had lived with. For a moment, they were just children—free, happy, and alive.

After two minutes of exhilarating flight, Naruto landed softly on the ground, setting the girls down. They were breathless but their eyes sparkled with happiness.

"Mister, will I be able to do this?" Nami asked, her voice filled with longing.

"Yes," Naruto answered, his hand ruffling both their heads. "When you're strong enough."

The girls' faces lit up, full of wonder.

Naruto, sensing the right moment, decided to address something that had been lingering in his mind. "I want to ask both of you," he said, his tone softer now, "Do you like me?"

"Yes!" they both answered without hesitation, their voices filled with affection.

Naruto smiled at their eagerness but pushed a little further. "Would you like it if I became your father?"

The question caught them off guard. Nojiko's brow furrowed slightly, but she quickly asked, "Will you take our mother away from us?"

Naruto's gaze softened, and he knelt down to look them both in the eye. "No, I will take all of you, and I will protect you from pain. Nothing will happen to you, I promise." His voice was sincere, carrying a weight of unspoken promises.

The girls' faces crumbled as the memories of their painful past rushed back. The cruelty of Arlong, the endless tension and fear that hung over their lives, and their mother's exhaustion all came flooding in. Without warning, the two girls threw themselves into Naruto's arms, hugging him tightly as tears welled up in their eyes.

"Yes, please make Mama happy," Nami said through her sobs, her voice raw with emotion.

Naruto hugged them both tightly, trying to calm their fears. "Don't worry. Nothing will happen to you, and I will make all of you happy. You're really intelligent girls, and you deserve better. I'll protect you, and I'll protect your mother."

Bell-mere, watching from a distance, felt a wave of embarrassment wash over her. She stood there, flushed, her heart a tangled mess of emotions. She had been holding back, still unsure, but seeing her daughters so vulnerable and trusting Naruto with all their hearts made her want to believe in his words, despite the inner conflict she felt.

After the girls had calmed down and dried their tears, Naruto gently instructed them to train away from the house. He handed them wooden poles to practice with, simple exercises to help them build strength and discipline. Their determination was visible, and they nodded eagerly, heading off to the field with a sense of purpose in their steps.

As they left, Naruto turned his attention to Bell-mere, who remained seated, still caught in the whirlwind of emotions Naruto had stirred. She was a mix of fear and excitement, both drawn to him and wary of his influence over her family. She hadn't yet recovered from the intensity of their interactions, but a part of her couldn't deny the attraction she felt for him.

Naruto, feeling the fatigue from the morning's events, walked slowly toward the kitchen. His body ached from the exertion of flying, the sexual tension that had drained him, and the emotional turmoil of dealing with Bell-mere's mixed feelings. The pain was still sharp, a reminder of how much he had pushed his body, but it was nothing he couldn't handle. He simply needed time to recover.

"I'll cook for the girls," he muttered to himself as he entered the kitchen, his tone tinged with fatigue. Bell-mere was still not in the condition to work, and it seemed that Naruto had to take charge of the household for now.

Not long after, the girls returned from their training, dirty and exhausted. Nojiko, her face flushed from the exertion, asked immediately, "Where's Mama?"

"She's sleeping," Naruto said, his voice calm but tired. "You girls clean up, and then eat your food."

Nami, noticing Naruto's tired expression, asked, "Mister, you seem tired."

"Do I?" Naruto smiled weakly. "I was training really hard with your mother, so I'm feeling a bit worn out."

The girls didn't understand the underlying meaning of his words, taking it literally, but they didn't question it. They simply nodded, taking their cue to clean up before sitting down to eat.

As the girls went about their chores, Naruto leaned against the counter for a moment, letting out a sigh. The weight of the situation, the complexity of his relationships with Bell-mere and her daughters, was not lost on him. But at this moment, he couldn't let the tension wear him down. He had a role to play, and he would continue to shape his path—one step at a time.
