Chapter 90: Chapter 24

Diana stood across from Cassandra in the dojo's training ring, her gaze steady but curious. Cassandra, though young, radiated a calm confidence that put even the most experienced warriors on edge.

"Hello, my name is Diana, and I hope we have a nice spar," Diana greeted politely, her tone warm despite the tension of the impending fight.

"Cassandra. I wish for the same, so please be careful," Cassandra replied, bowing slightly before taking her stance—a balanced position with her legs spread apart, one fist extended, the other near her hip.

Naruto gave the signal from the sidelines, "Start."

Diana didn't move at first, choosing to observe her opponent. Her stance was relaxed, but her sharp eyes followed every twitch of Cassandra's muscles. She wanted to gauge the young warrior's abilities before committing to an attack.

Cassandra moved in first, her speed catching Diana slightly off-guard. She threw a direct punch at Diana, who instinctively caught the attack. But the move was a trap. Cassandra twisted her body like a snake, reversing the grip and yanking Diana off balance. In a flash, both combatants were on the floor.

The impact shocked Diana. The seamless transition into a counter left her momentarily stunned, pain radiating from her shoulder. This girl isn't just skilled—she's precise.

Cassandra didn't hesitate, her follow-up a flurry of calculated strikes. Diana pushed back with her considerable strength, landing a blow that forced Cassandra to retreat briefly. Using the momentum, Cassandra leaped into the air, twisting mid-flight to aim a downward knee strike. Diana managed to roll away just in time, blocking a follow-up kick as Cassandra shifted her attack trajectory.

"You are good," Diana admitted, catching her breath. "I apologize for underestimating you."

"I am honored," Cassandra replied, bowing slightly. "But I will increase the difficulty, so be careful."

Cassandra surged forward again, her palm striking Diana squarely in the abdomen. Diana suppressed a grunt and retaliated with a knee strike. Cassandra blocked with her arm, but the force lifted her off the ground, leaving her vulnerable. Diana hesitated to capitalize, unwilling to go full force against a young opponent.

That hesitation cost her. Cassandra twisted in midair, delivering a sharp kick to Diana's chin. The force rattled Diana, leaving her momentarily dazed. Before she could recover, Cassandra transitioned seamlessly into a chokehold, her legs wrapping tightly around Diana's arms to immobilize her.

"Please surrender, or it will get more painful," Cassandra advised, her voice calm and emotionless, a reflection of her brutal training under Naruto.

"Stop," Naruto commanded from the sidelines, his tone firm but gentle.

Cassandra immediately released her hold and stepped back, her expression composed. Diana dropped to the mat, coughing violently as she gasped for air. Her throat throbbed from the pressure of Cassandra's hold.

Humiliated and introspective, Diana silently berated herself. This is disgraceful. I've grown too soft. My hesitation, my restraint—it's dulled my edge. I've let myself decline, staying in this land without regular challenges.

As her powers returned, healing the damage, Diana rose to her feet and extended her hand toward Cassandra.

"You were wonderful, and I hope we can fight again," Diana said, her tone sincere despite her frustration.

"Likewise," Cassandra replied, shaking her hand. "I hope you'll be serious next time."

Diana smiled, though her mind lingered on the young warrior's ruthlessness. Naruto isn't just training warriors—he's training killers. Every move she made was calculated to incapacitate or destroy.

At the back of the dojo, Bruce had been silently observing the match, his analytical mind processing every detail. He stood abruptly, breaking his train of thought.

"Naruto, thank you for giving us your time, but we'll be leaving now," Bruce said, his tone measured but slightly strained. "I don't feel well, so we'll meet later."

Naruto nodded, offering a warm smile as he walked them to the exit. "I'm always open for you, my friend. Just give me a call anytime."

As they left, Naruto watched them disappear into the distance, his expression unreadable. Cassandra approached him, tilting her head slightly.

"Did I do well, Father?"

"You did perfectly," Naruto replied, patting her head gently. "Diana needed that fight, even if she doesn't realize it yet. And Bruce… well, he has more to think about now than ever before."

Diana observed Bruce with concern as he leaned back in his seat, pale and visibly shaken. His usually composed demeanor had crumbled after their time with Naruto.

"What happened to you?" Diana asked gently, her brow furrowed.

Bruce hesitated, his voice carrying a rare vulnerability. "I don't know. Talking to Naruto... it stirred up memories, regrets, and questions I thought I'd buried deep. It made me feel... exposed, weak." He paused before quickly shifting the topic, unwilling to dwell on his emotional turmoil. "But as I suspected, they're not normal. And you... I never realized you could be so convincing at acting."

Diana raised an eyebrow, a small smirk tugging at her lips. "I didn't know either—it just happened." Her tone was light, but her mind lingered on her sparring match with Cassandra. The young girl had been ruthlessly skilled, every move precise and potentially lethal. Naruto's training is no ordinary mentorship, she thought.

As the car continued through Gotham's streets, Diana's gaze wandered to the window. The bustling city blurred past until her eyes locked with an unusual sight—a young girl standing on a rooftop, her gaze sharp and unyielding. Diana's breath hitched as a chill ran down her spine.

It was Himawari.

Her innocent appearance was deceiving. Diana couldn't shake the feeling that the child's piercing stare wasn't just a coincidence. The unspoken challenge in Himawari's eyes felt like a direct threat, one that sent a shiver through Diana's core.

There's something deeply wrong with that child, Diana thought, her instincts flaring in warning. She's not normal—not by any means.

Himawari's mind raced with complex thoughts, her emotions tangled in a mix of jealousy and excitement. The constant nagging feeling that someone might come into Naruto's life and take his attention away from her made her anxious. The other women he interacted with didn't sit well with her, especially when she saw the chemistry between them and her father. She didn't understand why her perfect father, who was always so aware of his surroundings, couldn't see how much the women around him were vying for his attention.

Another whore trying to get together with Daddy, it is truly aggravating. Hima's smile was wide and unnerving as she glared at Diana from the rooftop, her mind simmering with frustration. But she forced herself to calm down when the thought of Kara no longer worrying her passed through her mind. Daddy promised he would handle it.

Once home, Himawari bounded through the door with a wide grin, making her usual enthusiastic entrance. She ran up to Naruto and hugged him tightly, like a small koala, pressing herself into him as if to remind him of her presence.

"It's only 11 am now, and the kids are being supervised like usual," Naruto said, his voice filled with a casual warmth. "Bruce came along with a friend."

Hima didn't release her hold on him, instead rubbing her head against his chest affectionately. "Was he here for something important?"

Naruto didn't miss the subtle clinginess in her behavior, but he chose not to focus on it for the moment. It was more important that she felt safe. "Nothing much. He was just showing his friend around and wanted her to fight me, but Cassandra arrived, and they had a good spar."

Hima's curiosity piqued. "He was with a friend?" she repeated, her eyes narrowing slightly. "Was she important to him?"

Naruto nodded and smiled at his daughter's persistent questions. 'She's definitely growing up too fast…' he thought with a twinge of concern. He moved towards the living room, where Raven was watching from the doorway, her gaze piercing as she took in the scene. Mea was quietly eating ice cream, her expression distant, as if she had seen too much of the father-daughter interaction to feel at ease.

"He's close, isn't he? What will you do, Daddy?" Hima asked again, her voice soft but insistent, as if seeking reassurance or perhaps an answer to a deeper question that was beginning to form in her mind.

Naruto stroked her hair gently, rubbing the back of her head. "It's fine, sweetie. He's a good man. When he confronts me with the facts, we'll finally get to know each other better," he replied, his tone calm, but there was a small hesitation in his smile. It was difficult for him to picture a world where he might have to confront Bruce on such a personal level, but he was willing to face it when the time came.

Hima didn't let go of him, sitting comfortably in his lap as if it was the most natural thing in the world. She felt a surge of delight, her excitement bubbling up as she felt the closeness she craved.

Raven, standing quietly in the background, felt the sharp discomfort of the moment. 'I thought they were normal, but it seems like this family dynamic is something else entirely. What am I seeing that Mr. Uzumaki isn't? How does he not recognize the intensity of her attachment?' Her mind was a whirlwind of questions as she turned and walked out of the room, unable to bear the growing tension.

She couldn't shake the feeling that something was deeply off, but Naruto remained blissfully unaware, his perception clouded by his affection for his daughter.

Cassandra Uzumaki, formerly known as Cassandra Cain, had a past that seemed like it belonged to another life. Born and raised to be an assassin, she was groomed for death from the moment she could walk. Taught to be an unfeeling killer who existed only to serve others' cruel ambitions, Cassandra never imagined a life beyond the dark shadows of her upbringing.

But fate had other plans. One day, her world collided with Naruto Uzumaki.

Naruto had destroyed the organization that shaped her, eradicating the evil that perpetuated her suffering. Cassandra, still bound by her instincts, attacked him, but her attempt was futile. Suspended mid-air by Naruto's immense power, she had looked into the eyes of a man who seemed like death itself—yet his words carried warmth she'd never known.

"You remind me of my past," he had said, his voice steady. "You're strong, molded by pain and training alone. Leaving you here won't do. I'll take you in."

She had fainted soon after, but waking up to a life where she was no longer a tool but part of a family changed everything. Naruto became her father, offering her not just protection but love. Though she rarely voiced her emotions, Cassandra cherished the second chance at life he gave her.

After her sparring match with Diana, Cassandra sat quietly in the ring, replaying the fight in her mind. Each sequence revealed flaws she could refine, movements she could perfect. She was tireless in her pursuit of excellence, but her thoughts began to drift.

Father is so amazing, so powerful. But… does he even need us? He can create clones to handle any problem, go anywhere he wants. What purpose do I serve?

Cassandra's chest felt tight as doubt crept into her heart. She stood abruptly, needing space to breathe, and leapt out of the ring—only to be caught mid-air by Naruto himself.

"Father!" she exclaimed, startled. Naruto rarely displayed physical affection with her, especially not with Himawari around.

He held her securely, his expression warm. "Cass, just because I'm powerful doesn't mean you're not important to me. All of you are my children, and having you here brings me joy. My dream has always been to have a big family, and you're a part of that dream."

Cassandra's voice trembled. "I just… I feel useless sometimes. I wonder if my presence really matters. Do you truly love me, Father?"

Naruto's chuckle was soft and reassuring as he kissed her forehead and gently pinched her cheek. "Of course I love you. I didn't realize you needed me to be more playful with you. I thought you were grown up enough, but I see now—you're still my little girl."

Her doubts dissolved as his words reached her. Cassandra hugged him tightly, clinging to the comfort she so desperately needed. "Thank you for being there for me, Father. I'm sorry I ever doubted you."

Naruto patted her back gently. "It's okay. I've doubted those who cared for me before, too. It's part of being human. You don't need to feel ashamed."

Hand in hand, Naruto led Cassandra to the garden, away from the noise of the house. They walked side by side, Cassandra's heart lighter than it had been in a long time. For once, she allowed herself to feel like the little girl she never got to be—safe, loved, and at peace.
