Chapter 96: Chapter 30

In the boundless expanse of the Shinju trees, where the very fabric of nature thrummed with ancient power, Naruto's senses were on high alert. Standing before him was Nabu, the ancient cosmic entity with a golden helmet and a cloak that shimmered like the cosmos itself. The two shared a long history—one of cooperation, conflict, and unspoken understanding. But today, the air was thick with tension.

"It's nice to see you again, Naruto," Nabu greeted, his voice calm and almost nostalgic. "I thought you might have forgotten about me."

Naruto, despite his usual stoic demeanor, tensed at the sight of Nabu. He had not forgotten the ancient entity, but every time Nabu appeared, it was never without a grave reason. The looming sense of danger that accompanied his arrival only amplified the unease that settled in Naruto's chest.

"It's definitely not nice seeing you," Naruto replied, his tone blunt and his body coiling in readiness. "No offense to you personally, but every time you appear, something is wrong." His piercing gaze scanned their surroundings, his heightened senses alert for any potential threats. The disturbance he had felt earlier was still present, lingering like a shadow, and he suspected that Trigon was behind it. The constant sense of something amiss only reinforced his belief that his world was once again on the verge of upheaval.

Nabu gave a small, understanding smile, though it held a hint of regret. "Apologies for being the messenger of doom and bad news," he said, though his voice was laced with sympathy. "I always appear when the world is going through an imbalance. Right now, what you are attempting could change the balance of the world. The power you are absorbing should not exist within the mortal plane, especially not with someone so inexperienced."

Naruto's eyes narrowed at Nabu's words, but he did not flinch. The Shinju trees stood tall around him, their ancient energy flowing through the very air, yet even this raw power did not seem to calm the storm brewing inside him. "I've heard this speech before," Naruto said with a scoff. "I know my limits, and I know what I can handle. This isn't your concern."

Nabu's tone became more serious, his voice tinged with warning. "I advise you to find another way, or leave this realm for a while until the power settles down. What you are dealing with is more than you realize. Even the smallest leak of this power could cause unimaginable destruction."

Naruto was already moving to counter his concerns, a deep chuckle escaping him. "Was that all? Nabu, I think you've become senile along with your current vessel. Did you forget who I am? I am the Seventh. Splitting my power is child's play for me." He dismissed Nabu's caution with a wave, his eyes filled with defiance. He had faced far worse and triumphed, and this ancient entity's words seemed nothing more than a reminder of his own strength.

Nabu blinked in mild surprise, momentarily taken aback by Naruto's response. Then, in an attempt to shift the conversation, he offered something unexpected. "Ah! I seem to have forgotten since we haven't met in some time. So, what do you think about becoming Doctor Fate?" Nabu's voice took on a lighthearted, almost teasing tone as he floated closer, his golden helmet gleaming.

Naruto raised an eyebrow in disbelief. "You seem to have forgotten this too. I will never submit to someone else. My powers are enough for me, and having one voice inside my head is more than enough. I don't need an ancient being like you there."

Nabu's smile grew wider, as if entertained by Naruto's answer. "Why not? We could be truly invincible together. And I could share with you history and knowledge lost to others. Isn't that exciting?"

Naruto shook his head with a wry smile. "You're definitely old, Nabu. And my answer is still the same—no." Despite the playful banter, there was an underlying seriousness in his words. "But in the name of our short cooperation, I will help you out. I'm not wearing the helmet, though. I don't trust anyone that much. But if you want to give me your power, I'll absorb it."

Nabu's expression softened, his demeanor sincere. "That's good enough. I am truly grateful for this favor. My partner has aged too much and gone through too much. He doesn't have much time left here, nor the will."

Naruto, now focused on the task at hand, waved off Nabu's sentiment. "Don't start sulking around me. Just sit there while I do my work." With a gesture, he motioned to a large flower nearby, where he could prepare the power he needed. As he walked towards one of the smaller trees, he began absorbing its energy, savoring its strength. But Naruto knew better than to rush the process. Consuming too much power at once could tear his very soul apart, so he moved carefully, taking his time.

The air shifted, and suddenly, without warning, Naruto's body erupted into a chaotic storm of energy. His massive form swelled with raw power, his body transforming into a towering titan. The surge of energy was overwhelming, and his connection with the trees was severed, leaving him momentarily disoriented.

"NABU!" Naruto roared in fury, his voice shaking the very realm as he began to lose control of the energy he had absorbed. His body expanded further, growing as large as Jupiter itself, while his hand swung toward Nabu, seemingly intending to crush him.

Nabu, who stood small before Naruto's colossal form, didn't flinch. Instead, he spoke calmly, almost as if he were observing a storm. "I didn't know. You can expect me to know everything, but it seems I might have used too much power. I will fight alongside you. A force of chaos is responsible for this mishap."

Naruto clenched his teeth, his immense form lumbering toward Nabu, though his movements were slow and cumbersome as the unchecked energy continued to surge through him. "Fucking scum," he muttered under his breath, his anger building.

With his focus narrowing, Naruto attempted to open a portal to Earth, his mind intent on returning to the mortal plane. But as his hand stretched out, he encountered an invisible barrier, locked tight with mystic runes. The complex nature of the runes reminded him of the ancient power of a Lord of Chaos.

"Damn it," Naruto muttered, his focus narrowing. He struggled against the barrier, his immense form buckling under the weight of the ancient, chaotic magic. His knowledge of runes and cosmic laws was vast, but even he found himself stifled by the power of the Lord of Chaos.

"When I get my hands on him," Naruto thought darkly, his frustration mounting. "He is dead. He is dead." With every ounce of power he could muster, he continued to push against the barrier, determined to break free.

Nabu, watching the unfolding chaos, sensed the increasing danger. "The forces of chaos are moving, Naruto. If they succeed in their goal, the consequences could be disastrous."

As Naruto fought against the mystic prison, his mind burned with the knowledge that the battle had only just begun—and the forces aligned against him were far more dangerous than he had anticipated.

The world had gone dark, a suffocating veil of dread blanketing the Earth. Even the most mundane humans, oblivious to the workings of cosmic forces, felt the oppressive weight of an evil presence descending upon their realm. In the aftermath of Trigon's arrival, chaos reigned supreme. Cities trembled under his influence, and despair spread like wildfire.

At the center of this terror, a mall that had once served as a sanctuary for three young women now lay in ruins. Rubble and lifeless bodies littered the ground, a grim testament to Trigon's cruelty. Encased within a magical barrier, Kara, Barbara, and Hima found themselves trapped with no escape.

"You can thank your father for this, human," Trigon's deep, guttural voice echoed with cruel amusement. His massive form loomed over the destruction, his every step crushing corpses beneath him. The grin on his face was one of pure sadistic delight, a fitting expression for the one known as the Genocider and the Lord of Terror.

Kara stood protectively in front of Hima and Barbara, her usually composed demeanor now clouded with anger and grief. She had managed to shield her companions but was powerless to save the others. The weight of that choice bore heavily on her heart. Gritting her teeth, she funneled her fury into her attacks, hoping to find some measure of retribution.

"What are you blabbering on about, filthy demon?" Kara shouted, her eyes glowing red as twin beams of concentrated heat lanced toward Trigon. The energy struck his chest but had no effect. Trigon walked through the attack as though it were a summer breeze, his expression unchanging.

"Is this supposed to tickle me?" he mocked, his voice dripping with condescension. "I bathe in places far hotter than this." His gaze swept over the trio, savoring their fear. All except for Hima, whose calm demeanor piqued his interest. Her lack of visible terror stood out, a defiance he found both irritating and intriguing.

Hima, for her part, felt the heat of rage boiling beneath her serene exterior. She cursed Trigon for ruining her day but wasn't overwhelmed by fear. Deep down, she believed in Naruto's power, confident that he would intervene. Yet she also felt a quiet expectation—Naruto wanted her to struggle, to prove herself.

'I need to help them, or they'll die,' Hima resolved, her decision spurred by both necessity and the desire to earn her father's pride. She glanced at Barbara, her expression softening into one of reassurance.

"Barbara, stay back and don't move," Hima said in a calm, determined tone. "This guy is mine."

Barbara hesitated, torn between fear and concern for her friend, but froze in awe as a soft green light enveloped Hima. Her energy flared, and a radiant armor manifested around her, transforming her into a figure of undeniable power.

'Phoenix,' Barbara thought, stunned as realization dawned on her. Memories clicked into place like puzzle pieces, forming a picture she had failed to see before. Hima is the Phoenix. The revelation left her breathless.

Kara, too, was momentarily taken aback. Her mind raced as she pieced together her own revelations. The one who had saved her—the figure whose power surpassed understanding—was Hima's father.

Shaking off the distraction, she returned her attention to Trigon, determination blazing in her eyes.

Hima wasted no time. With a flick of her wrist, she summoned the Golden Wheel, compressing the energy sword capable of splitting the Earth into a short, lethal blade. The air around her crackled with energy as she used her Truth-Seeking Balls as distractions, their invisible forms gnawing away at energy and existence itself. Trigon, however, barely seemed inconvenienced. His innate resistance to such forces made them mere irritants.

Kara took flight, her body becoming a blur as she charged at full speed to tackle Trigon.

"Futile," Trigon muttered with a wave of his hand. His demonic energy surged outward like a tidal wave, slamming into both women with oppressive force. Kara dropped first, writhing in agony as the energy invaded her body, tearing at her insides. Her screams echoed in the desolate battlefield as the pain overwhelmed her.

Hima held on longer, her father's armor granting her some measure of resistance. But even that protection faltered under Trigon's relentless assault. When the armor finally shattered, the raw, searing agony drove Hima to her knees. For the first time in years, she screamed—a sound of pure anguish and fear. The overwhelming power bore down on her mind and soul, crushing her spirit.

"Daddy," she whimpered through gritted teeth, tears streaming down her face. "It hurts."

Trigon loomed over her, his grin widening as he drank in her suffering. "And there will be more to come," he said, his voice a dark promise of endless torment.

The battlefield fell silent save for the sound of Hima's labored breathing and the distant crackle of Trigon's malevolent energy. Above, the darkened sky seemed to pulse in rhythm with his malevolence, heralding a nightmare far from over.
