Chapter 98: Chapter 32

In the depths of the infernal realm, Trigon seethed with both rage and twisted glee. His earlier actions had cost him dearly—his sons annihilated, his vast reserves of energy depleted—but he had inflicted pain upon his most hated enemy. For that, he deemed the sacrifices worthwhile.

The Lords of Chaos and Lady Night had provided their assistance, intrigued by the havoc he could wreak, but Trigon knew better than to trust them.

"The Lord of Chaos is a fickle creature, unpredictable and unreliable. Lady Night... she's worse. Dangerous, cunning, and always looking for an opportunity to manipulate or destroy. I must bide my time, play along, and when the moment presents itself..."

Trigon's crimson eyes narrowed, his mind churning with schemes. "...I'll crush them both and absorb their power. Only then will I truly ascend beyond limitations."

Still, his confidence remained tempered by the bitter truth of his recent failures. Ever since he was barred from other universes, his once-boundless conquests had been stifled. The defeat Naruto dealt him, both in battle and in influence, was a wound that refused to heal.

Standing amidst the ruins of his personal dimension, Trigon's lips curled into a malicious grin.

"Naruto's daughter... She is the perfect instrument. The seeds of darkness I've planted within her will grow. When the time is right, she'll turn against him, bringing his world to ruin."

He chuckled darkly, envisioning the chaos Hima would unleash, her father forced to face her wrath and destruction.

"Let him suffer. Let him feel the agony of losing everything he cherishes—just as he took from me."

But his sadistic musings were shattered by a sudden and cataclysmic force. The ground beneath him quaked violently, and his towering, fiery palace cracked and crumbled. Trigon's eyes widened in shock as, within moments, his entire realm—along with the rest of the solar system—was obliterated.

The voice that echoed in his mind was calm, cold, and seething with power.

"I told you before, Trigon. You should have considered compromising with me."

Trigon roared in fury as he watched his dominion annihilated by a force he couldn't comprehend. The sheer audacity of the attack, the surgical precision with which his realm was undone, left him trembling with rage.

"HUMAN!" Trigon bellowed, his voice echoing across the infernal void. His fiery form surged with renewed hatred as he clawed at the remnants of his existence, finding himself trapped in a new, suffocating cage—an unseen prison crafted by his nemesis.

Every attempt to break free was futile, each strike met with impenetrable resistance.

"You will suffer, Naruto," Trigon hissed, his voice a low growl that simmered with venom. His eyes burned with unholy fire as his mind churned with cruel imaginings. "When I escape, you will know torment beyond mortal comprehension. I will take everything from you... everything."

He inhaled deeply, suppressing the urge to lash out blindly. His rage would serve him better when controlled, channeled into a plan to enact revenge.

"The girl," Trigon thought, his anger subsiding just enough for his cunning to return. "Even if my realm is gone, the seed I've planted in her remains. That fool doesn't realize the darkness I've embedded in his precious daughter's soul. She'll be the instrument of his destruction."

A sinister smile spread across his face as he closed his eyes, envisioning the devastation he would orchestrate.

"This is far from over, Naruto. You've only delayed the inevitable."

Deep within his infernal prison, Trigon began plotting anew, his hatred an unquenchable fire fueling his resolve.

Naruto hovered amidst the void of his garden, the remains of celestial harvests arrayed around him like silent witnesses to his power. His full form—an overwhelming amalgamation of light and shadow—extended tendrils of energy, absorbing the fruits of his labor. Planets, stars, and cosmic remnants disappeared into him, fueling his near-limitless strength.

To any mortal observer, the scene would have been apocalyptic, reminiscent of a cosmic predator consuming entire worlds. Yet to Naruto, this was necessity. The power he required to protect those he loved, especially Hima, demanded sacrifices that few could comprehend.

As he devoured the harvested energies, Naruto's thoughts turned inward. His stoic mask hid the tempest beneath—the eternal weight of his actions.

"Trillions gone... and yet, what choice did I have? I can't allow such scum to thrive. The pain I deliver is nothing compared to the suffering I prevent."

Kurama's voice echoed within him, steady and supportive.

"You've borne this burden before, Naruto. You've seen the worst of what this universe offers. Don't falter now."

Naruto gave a faint smile at his oldest companion's words.

"I won't, Kurama. But sometimes, I wonder... is there a line I won't cross? Or have I already crossed them all?"

His gaze softened as it fell upon Hima, now resting peacefully within the sanctuary of his body. Her energy pulsed warmly against his, a stark contrast to the consuming hunger of his current form.

"She's my everything now. No matter what happens, I'll protect her."

The chakra fruit of the stars had pushed Hima's potential beyond imagination. The energy within her had been stabilized and refined by Naruto's meticulous care, ensuring she could wield it without succumbing to its overwhelming power. But even this act of fatherly love carried a dark undertone—Naruto had once sworn not to alter his loved ones in such ways, yet here he was, driven by desperation.

"I promised myself I wouldn't do this... but I can't let her suffer. Not her."

Naruto's expression hardened. The cost of his actions, the lives extinguished in his rage, the energy harvested from countless worlds—all of it was a price he willingly paid to keep Hima safe.

As he absorbed the last remnants of his harvest, the garden—a vast space filled with celestial wonders—shimmered faintly, a testament to his ability to create and destroy in equal measure. In this space, he held dominion, a immortal among immortals, but even immortals had enemies.

Nabu's departure had been expected. The ancient being, wise and cautious, had recognized the madness lurking in Naruto's eyes. The knowledge he left behind—barriers, seals, and protections—was vital for what lay ahead. Trigon's threat was not extinguished, merely delayed.

Naruto's form shifted slightly, his humanoid visage returning as he completed his work. The immense power coursing through him made his presence almost unbearable, but it was necessary.

The comparison to a world-eater from mortal myths amused him briefly. "Galactus," he thought with a wry smile. "They'd call me that if they saw this. But I don't destroy for hunger. I destroy to protect."

His smile faded, replaced by the resolute expression of a protector willing to carry the weight of the cosmos on his shoulders.

As he prepared for the battles to come, Naruto whispered a vow into the silent void:

"Trigon, Lords of Chaos, Lady Night... whoever stands against me, know this. I don't care how many times you come back. I will end you. Again and again, until nothing of you remains."

With that, he vanished from the garden, leaving behind only a faint shimmer of the titanic energies he had consumed—a quiet reminder of the power and determination that drove him.

In the tranquil atmosphere of the Uzumaki household, Diana arrived unannounced but was quickly welcomed inside. The contrast between the serene domestic scene and the tumultuous events of earlier weighed heavily on her mind. As she stepped in, her eyes caught Pamela playing with Mea in the living room, laughter echoing softly. Diana blinked in surprise but decided to stay silent, unwilling to disrupt the fragile normalcy.

Naruto appeared shortly after, calm and composed as if the weight of his actions hadn't registered. His demeanor was unnervingly innocent, the furthest thing from someone who had committed a massacre on a global scale. Diana followed him to a quiet room, her posture tense, her thoughts racing.

Naruto turned to her, his expression gentle yet unreadable. "How can I help you?" he asked, his tone polite and casual.

Diana's gaze hardened, scrutinizing him for any sign of remorse or even acknowledgment of the gravity of his actions. Her own history was stained with the necessity of killing, but this... this was on a scale that even she struggled to fathom.

"What happened today, Naruto?" Diana asked, her voice steady but firm. "Why did you kill them?"

Naruto sighed softly, his expression unchanging. "Trigon attacked and harmed my daughter," he began, his tone colder now. "So I took out my anger on some filth that had only survived because I didn't care. Does that answer your question?"

Diana's heart clenched. His words were logical, yet the ease with which he dismissed the loss of life chilled her. She pressed on. "Is Trigon still a threat?"

"Yes," Naruto replied bluntly. "Unfortunately, I couldn't erase him yet."

The implication lingered, heavy and unsettling. Couldn't? Or wouldn't? Diana wondered silently.

"Why kill them all, Naruto? You could have easily imprisoned them. You're powerful enough to do that," Diana argued, searching for even a shred of humanity in his response.

"You're persistent," Naruto remarked with a faint smile. "Why do you care? They were scum. They don't deserve your pity. As for your question..." His smile widened, a mix of amusement and something darker. "I felt like it. I prefer when things operate under my rules. I was a ruler once, you know."

Before Diana could respond, Naruto closed the distance between them, tilting her chin upward with a gentle but commanding touch. His piercing gaze locked onto hers, an intensity that made her breath hitch. The power radiating from him was suffocating, and despite her strength, she found herself closing her eyes instinctively.

"Hehe, how cute," Naruto teased, his voice laced with mockery.

Diana's cheeks flushed with anger and embarrassment. She quickly pulled away, regaining her composure. "Stop treating me like a child," she snapped, her voice loud and resolute. "I may not be your equal in power, but that doesn't give you the right to be condescending. And answer me honestly—do you truly feel nothing from killing so many?"

Naruto chuckled, his amusement genuine. "Didn't think you had it in you. Amusing, truly. Very well, I'll answer. I feel nothing for those I kill. And honestly, it's better that way. If I felt guilt, I'd go mad under its weight. If I felt joy, I'd become a monster the world would fear."

His gaze turned serious, his voice steady and deliberate. "Understand this: I kill to enforce my law on the world, not because I enjoy it."

Diana studied him, her sharp mind processing his words. While the answer unsettled her, it also clarified his motivations. He didn't kill out of malice or pleasure but as a means to an end—a harsh, uncompromising form of justice.

"Thank you for your honesty," Diana said after a pause, her tone softer. "But I want you to remember that you're not alone. This world belongs to all of us. Leaning on others might not be such a bad idea."

Naruto's lips curved into a faint smile. "I know that. I've relied on someone. My buddy, Dr. Fate, helped me with Trigon."

Diana made a mental note to visit Fate for more information but chose not to press further. Instead, she took a sip of the tea in front of her, gathering her thoughts.

Before she could respond, a voice called out from the hallway. "Father, are you done?" Cassandra's voice was sweet yet expectant.

Naruto nodded, standing from his seat. "Yes, I'm coming." He turned back to Diana, his expression softer now. "You're welcome to stay or leave as you please. Just remember, I consider you a friend. But don't test those limits."

Without waiting for a reply, Naruto left, leaving Diana alone to reflect on the weight of their conversation. She sat silently for a moment, staring into her tea, before whispering to herself, "Friend or not, we need to be ready for the choices he'll make."
