Chapter 261: Chapter 261: The Grindstone of Taijutsu
Might Guy glanced at Kakashi.
The exchange of glances said everything. Kakashi instantly understood Guy's intentions.
Although Lady Tsunade had given explicit instructions before their departure, Guy wanted to personally test Sasuke's strength. After all, Sasuke now wielded the Eight Gates technique.
This wasn't something Guy could overlook. The Eight Gates technique was a forbidden jutsu developed by his father, and Guy wouldn't allow anyone unworthy to master it.
Guy's plan was simple: he would suppress Sasuke with his attacks while Kakashi waited for the right moment to strike and deal a critical blow.
The goal wasn't to kill Sasuke Tsunade had made that clear but to incapacitate him enough so that even if he managed to escape, he wouldn't be a threat for a while.
Guy stepped forward and faced Sasuke.
"Sasuke! You've mastered the Eight Gates, haven't you?"
Hearing this, Sasuke smirked. He had guessed that Might Guy's imposing stare was due to this very matter.
"That's right," Sasuke nodded calmly. This information had already been exposed during his battle in the Sand Village. Denying it served no purpose. Owning up to it outright was the better choice.
"Good! I never expected you to master the Eight Gates just from the records in the Scroll of Seals!"
"But remember, some techniques can't truly be mastered just by studying scrolls!"
"Sasuke, whatever you do is none of my concern, but the Eight Gates are an exception!"
"Whether you've truly mastered it or not, that's something only I, Might Guy, can determine!"
As he spoke, Guy raised his fist and pointed it at Sasuke.
"Fight me! Show me your taijutsu and your mastery of the Eight Gates!"
A clash of taijutsu? Perfect! Sasuke had felt on the verge of upgrading his taijutsu skills, but he needed a true master to push him over the edge.
And now, Might Guy was here to deliver exactly that experience.
Sasuke jumped down from the rock he was perched on, stretching his neck leisurely.
"Alright," he replied with a confident smirk.
"Please, Might Guy-sensei... teach me!"
Chiyo frowned as she watched the two. If Konoha's Blue Beast, Might Guy, intended to stall Sasuke, then the Sand Village team could take advantage of the opportunity to retrieve Gaara's body from the cave.
If Gaara's body was intact, Chiyo believed she could find a way to resurrect him using a forbidden jutsu.
She signaled the Sand ninja behind her to prepare for action.
Once Sasuke and Guy began their fight, they would move in and retrieve Gaara.
"Sasuke... come! Show me the extent of your taijutsu!"
Guy didn't believe Sasuke's taijutsu could surpass his own. To him, Sasuke was primarily a ninjutsu user, strong in taijutsu but nowhere near his level.
However, Sasuke was about to show him why geniuses defy conventional logic.
Since Guy had offered him the first move, Sasuke didn't hesitate.
He drew the Kusanagi sword from his waist, his movements sharp and swift.
At first, everyone thought Sasuke was preparing to fight with the sword, but to their surprise, he drove it into a nearby rock with brute force.
No chakra enhancements just raw physical strength.
CRACK!
The rock was pierced cleanly. The precision was so perfect that the stone cracked without shattering into fragments.
This display alone made Kakashi and the others widen their eyes in astonishment.
Who would've thought Sasuke's raw strength was at such a level?
In the next moment, Sasuke stepped forward, charging straight at Might Guy.
Though not as fast as techniques like Lightning Body Flicker, his speed was impressive far beyond that of an average Jonin.
'So fast!'
Guy's eyes twitched as he assessed Sasuke. Clearly, Sasuke's taijutsu had grown immensely stronger.
In such a short time, had his taijutsu already reached this level?
Impossible!
Guy, who had honed his taijutsu for years, couldn't believe he was being caught up to by someone so young.
BAM!
The instant their fists collided, Guy's heart skipped a beat.
'Such power!'
'His form, timing, and execution are flawless. At this level, his taijutsu alone could easily overpower most Jonin!'
Guy was stunned, as was Kakashi.
Having faced Guy in countless sparring matches, Kakashi knew how formidable his taijutsu was. While Kakashi wasn't on par with Guy in taijutsu, his keen eyes allowed him to recognize Sasuke's strength.
'As I thought... Sasuke's taijutsu is already comparable to Guy's!'
BOOM! BOOM!
Realizing Sasuke's level, Guy quickly switched to a full offensive strategy.
When two fighters were evenly matched in taijutsu, losing the upper hand could be disastrous.
The battle grew fierce, their taijutsu clashes producing booming echoes.
The intensity of their combat rivaled that of ninjutsu duels, with Sasuke's Sharingan allowing him to anticipate Guy's moves.
Each time, Sasuke would interrupt Guy's attacks with well-timed counters but deliberately pause, letting Guy resume his offense.
This odd behavior puzzled everyone.
To Chiyo and the others, it seemed Sasuke was being reckless or toying with Guy.
"Arrogant brat! Gaining the upper hand only to hold back? Is he mocking Guy?" Chiyo muttered, her Sand Jonin companions shocked by her assessment.
"Upper hand? Isn't that kid being overwhelmed?"
The level of their taijutsu combat was beyond the comprehension of most Jonin.
Kakashi, however, furrowed his brows in realization.
"No! Sasuke isn't the type to toy with his opponents... he's..."
"He's using Might Guy to hone his taijutsu..."
Chiyo froze in disbelief.
Using an enemy to refine his skills during combat?
And against Might Guy, who wasn't holding back and whose blows carried significant power?
This reckless training approach, risking life and limb, explained why Sasuke was as strong as he was.
It wasn't just talent it was his relentless, daredevil training.
He was willing to bet his life to grow stronger.
