Naruto: Reincarnated with a programmable system core.

Chapter 42: 42. Mei's resolve.

Orochimru's lab, land of iron.

"Zetsu," Orochimaru said, addressing 4.0, who stood silently at the other end, "I've been trying to awaken this Sharingan to its true potential, but all my methods so far have failed. It seems only a Uchiha can truly unlock the Mangekyō Sharingan. If you claim to have a way, now's the time to prove it."

"I do know the way, but I'll need something in return. A pair of Sharingan from your collection." 4.0 said.

Orochimaru's eyes narrowed. "A steep price, don't you think?"

"It's not steep if it works," 4.0 replied bluntly.

"What's the point of hoarding them if they remain unawakened? Give me one pair, and I'll show you how to achieve what you've only dreamed of."

"Fine. But if you're wrong, Zetsu, I'll be dissecting you next."

4.0 ignored the thinly veiled threat and gestured toward a nearby cabinet.

Orochimaru retrieved a pair of three-tomoe Sharingan from a sealed container, the preserved eyes glowing faintly under the lab's sterile light.

Without a word, 4.0 placed the Sharingan on a high-tech platform and then reached into his chest. A compartment opened, revealing a small, portable quantum string computer. Its sleek design gleamed as he set it on the table.

"What is that?" Orochimaru asked, his voice tinged with suspicion.

"A tool far more advanced than anything you have here," 4.0 replied. "master used this same technology to awaken dormant genetic traits. Now, I'll use it to awaken this Sharingan."

Orochimaru's curiosity overtook his wariness as he watched 4.0 work. The computer emitted a soft hum as holographic displays appeared, showing a detailed scan of an awakened Mangekyō Sharingan. Alongside it, another scan of the three-tomoe Sharingan flickered to life.

4.0 began speaking as he worked, "The Mangekyō Sharingan isn't just a product of intense emotion, as most believe. It's a precise biological transformation triggered by a combination of factors—an exact amount of yin chakra, stress hormones, and specific nutrients. This computer can calculate the exact conditions needed for evolution."

The holographic display shifted, showing a list of variables. Orochimaru's eyes widened as he read the data.

"So, you're saying the evolution can be artificially triggered?" Orochimaru asked, his voice dripping with disbelief.

4.0 nodded. "Precisely. With this setup, we don't need a Uchiha to awaken the eye. We can force the transformation."

4.0 quickly set up a series of instruments, attaching the Sharingan to a specialized chamber connected to chakra-conducting wires. The quantum string computer fed real-time adjustments into the system, guiding the infusion of yin chakra and stress-inducing chemicals.

"Are you sure this will work?"

"You'll see soon enough,"

The chamber began to glow faintly as chakra was funneled into the eye. The three tomoe in the Sharingan started to spin slowly, and the eye pulsated with an otherworldly light.

After only a few seconds, Orochimaru's sharp gaze caught something extraordinary—the tomoe patterns began to shift. The spinning sped up, and the three tomoe elongated, intertwining into an intricate design.

"It's... it's working!" Orochimaru exclaimed, stepping closer to get a better look.

The pattern settled into a complex design, unmistakably that of a Mangekyō Sharingan. Orochimaru's eyes widened in awe as the eye radiated with its newfound power.

"It's beautiful," Orochimaru murmured, his usual composure momentarily slipping.

"You've actually done it. But how?"

4.0 turned to him, his tone smug. "I told you. The process is scientific, not mystical. You've spent too much time chasing myths, Orochimaru. Technology and data are far more reliable."

Orochimaru's awe quickly turned into a greedy smile. "With this method, I can awaken every Sharingan in my collection. The possibilities..." He trailed off, his mind racing with new ideas.

"You could," 4.0 said, cutting him off. "But don't forget—this process was made possible by my technology. Without it, you're just grasping at shadows."

Orochimaru's gaze darkened slightly, but he chose not to respond. Instead, he turned his attention back to the newly awakened Mangekyō Sharingan, his mind already scheming.

As Orochimaru reached for the eye, 4.0's voice stopped him. "Before you get too excited, let me remind you—I still have other tasks to complete. The master will want to know about your... progress."

Orochimaru's smile faltered for a moment, but he quickly recovered. "Tell your master he has my attention. For now."

….

"Konan breathed heavily. Her body was covered in cuts and bruises; Mizukage stood before her, looking as if he hadn't even lifted his finger.

"We can't hold him too long…" Konan said to herself, gripping her kunai as blood ran down her fingers.

The Mizukage smirked. "You've put up an amusing fight, but it's time to end this little rebellion of yours."

Konan clenched her teeth, trying to think of a way to turn the tide. The resistance fighters around her were falling one by one, and Mei was desperately fighting alongside her, though she, too, was barely holding on.

"I need backup…" Konan whispered, forming a quick hand seal. She sent out a small paper butterfly into the air, calling for help.

Just a few moments later, Sasori arrived, standing atop one of his puppets.

"Looks like you're having trouble, Konan," Sasori said calmly, pulling out a scroll.

Konan gave him a tired but hopeful look. "About time. Take him down."

Without another word, Sasori summoned his army of puppets. Dozens of mechanical warriors filled the battlefield, their weapons gleaming in the sunlight. They moved with deadly precision, surrounding the Mizukage in an instant.

The Mizukage raised an eyebrow, unimpressed. "Puppets? … You're just delaying your death."

The puppets launched their attack, firing poisoned needles and swinging bladed arms. However, Mizukage dodged with ease, With a wave of his hand, he unleashed a torrent of water that slammed into the puppets, reducing many of them to scrap.

Sasori summoned his Third Kazekage puppet. The iron sand began to hover in the air, forming sharp spikes that shot toward the Mizukage.

The Mizukage countered with a powerful water vortex, blocking the iron sand and sending it scattering. He moved faster than the puppets could keep up with, dismantling them one by one.

As the last of Sasori's puppets fell, the Mizukage turned his attention back to Konan. She was exhausted, barely able to stand, but she still raised her arms, preparing to attack.

"You're persistent," the Mizukage said, stepping closer. "But this ends now."

He lunged at Konan, his blade aimed straight for her chest. Konan braced herself, but before the blade could strike, Mei appeared in front of her.

"Not today!" Mei shouted, her voice fierce. She blocked the attack with her lava release, a wall of molten rock forming between her and the Mizukage. The clash sent a shockwave through the battlefield, forcing everyone to shield their eyes.

The Mizukage growled, pushing through the lava with sheer force. He slashed his blade, cutting through the molten rock and Mei's hand!

The next moment, Mei screamed in pain as the blade severed her arm. Blood splattered onto the ground as she dropped to one knee, clutching her shoulder.

"Mei!" Konan cried, rushing to her side.

The Mizukage smirked, stepping forward.

"How noble. But foolish."

Before Konan could react, the Mizukage grabbed Mei by the throat and lifted her off the ground. Mei struggled weakly, her face pale from blood loss.

"You've caused enough trouble," the Mizukage said coldly, tightening his grip.
