Chapter 229: Chapter 228 : Mikoto Joins??
Communicating with a madman really drains the energy.
After finally 'sending off' Mr. A, the Dark Saint couldn't wait to return to the 'main' persona.
As for that damn madman, let the main consciousness deal with the headache!
In an instant.
The separated virtual persona returned, and as memories fused, 'Adam' suddenly shook with strength.
Fortunately, the demi-god status granted by the Spectator pathway gave him strong control on the mental level, which helped him avoid revealing any flaws and prevented being noticed by Orochimaru.
"Is this the legendary, the crazier you get, the stronger you become?" Uchiha Sogetsu's expression was subtle, with his mouth twitching involuntarily.
He was genuinely a bit shaken and wondered if this was the true way of the 'Hanged Man' pathway. It was simply ridiculous!
However, considering Mr. A's excellent performance, he didn't bother interfering with this guy.
Though a bit mad, his actions were still reliable. If he truly lost control, Sogetsu would just sadly feed him to the 'Creeping Hunger.'
As his thoughts returned, 'Adam' spoke faintly, "Is there anything else?"
"Mr. Adam, there's one more thing I must tell you."
Orochimaru didn't dare hide anything and explained everything, including his attempt to reveal part of the information and his plan to have Uchiha Mikoto join.
'Adam's' pale golden, deep eyes cast a scrutinizing glance, and his index finger gently tapped the bronze table. With a meaningful tone, he asked, "You're clever, so do you know what the members of the Twilight Hermit Order have in common?"
In common?
Orochimaru fell into thought, but there was too little information about the members to analyze effectively. He shook his head and said bitterly, "I really can't guess, Mr. Adam."
"The answer is the 'weight' of fate."
'Adam' stopped tapping his finger, crossed his hands, and placed them on his crossed legs in a more relaxed sitting posture. "Every thing has a different 'weight.' Some have little influence on the world, light as a feather. Others have a massive influence, heavy as a mountain."
"You mean…"
Orochimaru trembled slightly, seeming to understand. "That in the future, we will have a huge impact on the world, right?"
'Adam' smiled lightly.
"For example, someone's thought or action could cause a huge change in fate, thus affecting the course of the world. And some people, for their whole life, are nothing more than a speck of dust in the river of fate, unable to create even a ripple."
Fate truly is 'cruel,' as the saying goes.
But it's precisely because of this that he was willing to do anything to walk the 'Path of God' and completely escape this powerlessness!
"Some people, no matter how much they scheme and try to stir up trouble, are still insignificant to the world."
"Some people, with just a single wrong decision, can turn the world upside down."
"And that's the difference in the 'weight' of fate."
"Now, do you understand? Orochimaru."
The theory that 'Adam' explained deeply resonated with Orochimaru.
He exhaled a deep breath, then said in a low voice, "I understand your point. I sincerely apologize, Mr. Adam. This time, it was my own decision. I'll handle the Uchiha Mikoto issue with White Fang, and I'll make sure no one else gets suspicious!"
Although it was harsh, he didn't feel like he owed anything.
After all, from the very beginning, he never promised Uchiha Mikoto that he could fulfill her wishes.
"Don't blame me, Uchiha Mikoto," Orochimaru half-squinted his eyes and thought to himself, "This is all fate's choice."
He had already come up with several solutions in his mind for how to handle Uchiha Mikoto, ensuring that there would be no traces left behind.
Just then, he heard 'Adam' chuckle softly and say, "No, what I mean is, it's possible."
Possible?
Orochimaru was stunned for half a second before he finally realized. "You mean, allow Uchiha Mikoto to join the Twilight Hermit Order?"
"Why not?"
'Adam' rested his face on his hand, intrigued.
"Lord Adam, I don't understand," Orochimaru said with confusion. "You just mentioned the 'weight' of fate."
He continued, "And Uchiha Mikoto clearly isn't the type of person who can have a significant impact on the world and fate. Why would you agree to let her join?"
"A simple experiment."
'Adam' changed the subject, saying, "Can someone who originally has no influence on the world and fate at all, completely alter the 'weight' of fate? Don't you find that interesting?"
The idea of casually changing someone's fate—what incredible power that is!
Orochimaru was deeply shocked, and his reverence for 'Adam' grew even stronger. "I will follow your will, Mr. Adam."
---
At this moment, the remaining members of the Uchiha clan were caught in a frenzy.
The reason for the celebration was that, after Uchiha Sogetsu, another member of their clan had awakened the 'Mangekyō Sharingan.'
The black flames that engulfed much of the forest outside Konoha were clearly visible to anyone who wasn't blind. Without a doubt, they were the strongest Fire Release technique recorded in the secret scroll, 'Amaterasu,' which could only be unleashed by someone who had awakened the Mangekyō Sharingan!
Looking at the bustling crowd, Uchiha Mikoto felt nothing but noise.
"I'm going to rest," she said quietly.
She slowly stood up from the main seat, not looking at Fugaku beside her, and left the banquet without a second glance.
Ever since Sogetsu's death, she had become increasingly withdrawn, unwilling to get close to anyone. Most of the time, she was alone, and even Fugaku rarely saw her.
After leaving the noisy banquet, Mikoto's mind was consumed with thoughts of the "opportunity" Orochimaru had mentioned. When would it appear?
Without realizing it, she absentmindedly looked up and found herself standing in front of Uchiha Sogetsu's room.
Since she was here, she might as well go inside and take a look.
Mikoto pushed the door open. Although Sogetsu had been dead for months, the room was still neat, thanks to her occasional visits to tidy up.
"Who?"
Suddenly, Mikoto sensed a strange chakra. Her eyes sharpened, scanning the corners of the room. "Come out!"
Hiss, hiss, hiss.
A small white snake slithered out from the corner.
The snake lifted its head and spat out a scroll.
Is this Orochimaru's summoning beast?
Mikoto hesitated for a moment, crouched down, and took the scroll from the snake's mouth. When she opened it, there were only a few lines of writing.
"Dragon soaring in the Sea of Collective Subconscious,
Shadow beneath the current of time,
Ancient rulers from a distant age,
I pray for your gaze."
She instinctively repeated the words in her mind.
The next moment, Mikoto's eyes went blank, and she felt herself being dragged, falling into boundless darkness.
In an endless, turbulent ocean, she helplessly fell downward, sinking into a sea filled with the consciousness of all beings.
The ocean seemed like an illusion of stars, mixed with whispers, sometimes unreal, sometimes maddened.
Eventually, the scattered falling consciousness gathered again in the endless black fog.
It was as if Uchiha Mikoto woke from a dream. She looked up to see a grand, imposing church made of skeletal remains. A storm of emotions surged within her, and her beautiful eyes showed signs of shock.
"Where is this?"
This sacred church, made of piled bones, gave Mikoto an inexplicable sense of pressure.
"Twilight Hermit Order," a voice, full of supreme will, echoed throughout the hall.
Mikoto looked toward the voice. Beneath a giant cross made of bones, there was an ancient bronze table, weathered and marked with age. Around it were several chairs, but the most striking was the "main seat," which was many times larger than the others, as though it were meant for a giant.
On that massive bronze chair, the figure, shrouded in a faint golden light, gazed at her—the unexpected 'guest'—with eyes of a dull, golden indifference.
"Tell me, what do you want?"
The figure, almost divine in its presence, spoke in a calm and serene voice.
"I..."
Uchiha Mikoto, who was being 'watched,' felt as if her innermost thoughts were completely exposed. No matter how small, every single thought seemed unable to escape the weight of that gaze.
"I want to revive Uchiha Sogetsu!"
The beautiful woman, her eyes reddened, said this truthfully to the great presence.
