At the moment when Aizen effortlessly caught Sakumo's blade with one hand, everyone present felt a jolt of surprise. But they didn't have time to dwell on it, and could only continue their attacks.
Sakumo snapped out of his shock, his gaze hardening as he gripped his blade, intending to pull it back. However, despite Aizen holding it only with his fingers, it was impossible to move.
Aizen glanced back, a slight smile forming at the corner of his mouth. As he leapt lightly into the air, he swung Sakumo's blade behind him.
At that moment, two dark shadows appeared behind him.
"Konoha's Secret Art: Hidden Tiger!"
"Taijutsu Ultimate Art: Sky Hunter Fist!"
Dai and Tsunade suddenly appeared, one with a fierce white tiger head around his foot and the other with a green chakra surrounding her fist.
Seeing this, Sakumo urgently warned, "Be careful!"
At that moment, Sakumo's sharp edge, seemingly controlled entirely by Aizen, slashed towards Tsunade and Dai's waists in a cold flash.
The two froze briefly, realizing that continuing their attack would make it impossible to dodge.
Aizen's lips curled in a slight smile. He made no move to dodge their attacks, merely watching.
"Boom!"
Dai twisted in midair, aiming for the ground nearby. His Hidden Tiger created a massive crater on impact. But, surprisingly, Tsunade didn't seem to intend to avoid the blade at all, surprising even Aizen.
Her brown eyes flashed coldly as memories of their past moments surfaced in her mind.
"If it were you, Tsunade, would you want to protect this village?"
"Becoming the first female Hokage is an admirable dream. But don't worry, you'll succeed."
"Don't be sad; smile. If the sun's covered, everyone will be downcast. Just smile, and wait until I reach the summit."
Recalling Aizen's words, Tsunade's lips pressed together, her gaze hardening with a painful but determined glint.
'You liar. I will never believe you again!'
Amid everyone's shocked expressions, Tsunade ignored Sakumo's sharpness and continued to charge at Aizen.
'Shing!'
With the sound of a blade piercing flesh, Sakumo passed straight through Tsunade's waist. Yet, this allowed her to get close to Aizen.
Now, she was near enough to strike!
'Boom!'
With a loud explosion, dust and smoke engulfed the area around Aizen, a powerful gust scattering in all directions, leaving cracks in the ground.
Simultaneously, Jiraiya and Orochimaru's attacks also reached him.
'Boom!'
Flames shot into the air, and the ground, already shattered, was now engulfed in a sea of fire.
The black smoke made it impossible to see clearly within.
'Thud!'
From the dark smoke, Sakumo was flung back, landing with scorch marks on his body. But Jiraiya and the others barely noticed this; they stared intently at the fire, disbelief in their eyes.
'Could it be so easy? Did Tsunade sacrifice herself?'
Jiraiya slumped slightly, staring at the flames in shock. Beside him, Orochimaru's snake-like eyes flickered, revealing no expression as he watched, his mind clearly complex.
In the distance, Dai's eyes widened in disbelief at the fiery scene.
Then—
'Clang!'
A crisp sound from within the flames drew everyone's attention, their eyes lighting up as they watched.
'Whoosh!'
Suddenly, a powerful surge of energy burst from the center of the flames, scattering ash and debris in all directions, even causing distant trees to sway. The group squinted, keeping their eyes on the center.
Against the wind, the flames gradually died down, revealing a scene in the midst of chaos. The ground was marked with scorched cracks from the previous attacks, but at the center, the scene was entirely different.
The clean, unburned ground stood out against the scorched surroundings. Shimmering blue fragments slowly scattered in the air, a beautiful sight. But what surprised everyone most were the two figures standing unharmed at the center.
Aizen stood calmly, expressionless, looking down at Tsunade before him.
He held her pale fist firmly.
And Tsunade, unwavering, met his gaze, her brown eyes filled with determination and hidden sorrow.
Aizen could feel her unyielding defiance. His gaze drifted to her bloodied waist, pierced by Sakumo.
"What a reckless act," he said quietly, eyes narrowing slightly.
"Do you despise me so much? To choose such a lowly means to die together?" he continued, releasing her hand.
With the severe wound to her abdomen, Tsunade's face paled, and her body weakened, beginning to slump.
Aizen's gaze softened, unreadable, as he said, "It was only ever a game with you. Your actions now have left me disappointed."
With that, he turned and walked toward Jiraiya and the others, ignoring Tsunade.
At his indifferent words, Tsunade felt a surge of sadness. She bit her lip, calling after him.
"Do you see us as nothing more than toys? Both Saki and Nawaki—did you fabricate their deaths too? And even... even your words to me... were just lies in a game, weren't they? What right do you have to be disappointed in me, who was only your puppet!" Tsunade shouted with all her strength, her body slumping as tears began streaming down her face.
At her words, Aizen paused mid-step. After a moment, he slowly turned, his expression unreadable.
A calm voice reached her ears.
"I never deceived you."
Hearing this, Tsunade looked up in stunned silence, watching his retreating figure.
