Chapter 260: Chapter 260: Nine-Tails: I Think the Little Girl Tricked Me, but… I Have No Evidence

"..." The Nine-Tails sat silently, processing the bizarre turn of events.

Seriously?

The great Nine-Tails, the most powerful of all tailed beasts, had just been outmaneuvered by a little girl. Uzumaki Mito had been domineering, forcibly extracting its chakra as if it were a resource. Kushina, however, had a much gentler approach—but still, it wasn't enough to make the Nine-Tails trust her outright.

Jingyi had planted an idea in Kushina's head, a tempting one. He said if she could gain the Nine-Tails' trust and fully synchronize with its chakra, she would become one of the strongest shinobi in the world. The thought of wielding a power like that—without conflict or resistance—was thrilling.

The Nine-Tails, however, was skeptical. "You're lying. You just want my chakra, like the rest of them. Deceiving me like all humans do."

Kushina, unshaken, replied with surprising sincerity. "Big fox, think about it. When have I ever treated you like Mito Grandma did? I've never forced your chakra out or suppressed you unless you were trying to break free or insult me."

The Nine-Tails was momentarily stunned.

This little brat had a point. Compared to Mito, Kushina wasn't as oppressive. Her chains weren't a constant presence, only surfacing when absolutely necessary.

Still, the Nine-Tails wasn't one to fall for sweet words.

"Don't act innocent. If you're serious about negotiating, remove these chains," it growled mockingly.

Kushina frowned but didn't argue.

"Fine, big fox. If that's what it takes…"

To the Nine-Tails' utter shock, the chains binding it began to vanish. Slowly but surely, the oppressive hold of the Uzumaki chakra receded until it was completely free.

Wait… what?

For a moment, the Nine-Tails was utterly dumbfounded. It was so accustomed to being restrained that the absence of chains felt surreal. This girl actually did it?

She turned back to face it, her bright eyes shining with determination. "Alright, big fox! I've kept my word. Now it's your turn. You're the strongest tailed beast, right? You wouldn't lie to a kid, would you?"

The Nine-Tails blinked. Its first instinct was to scoff at her naivety—but the words wouldn't come.

Lie? To a child?

A wave of pride and indignation washed over it. Was it really going to tarnish its reputation by going back on its word? What would the other tailed beasts say? Especially that loudmouthed One-Tails?

Caught in a web of its own pride, the Nine-Tails began to panic.

"Forget it," Kushina sighed dramatically. "I thought you were different, but I guess tailed beasts are just like people—liars and deceivers."

"Wait!" The Nine-Tails' deep voice echoed in desperation.

"Why? So you can trick me again?" Kushina asked, crossing her arms and pouting.

"I don't lie!" it roared. "I—I just… wasn't ready! Give me a few days to think about it."

Kushina shook her head. "Jingyi said that if someone hesitates like that, it's because they're stalling for time to back out. It's okay, big fox. I get it. You're not trustworthy after all."

The Nine-Tails felt its pride take another hit.

Not trustworthy? Me?

"No!" It slammed its claws into the ground, shaking the sealed space. "I'll reconcile with you, you little brat! I don't need time to think!"

"Really?" Kushina asked with feigned innocence. "You're not going to lie to me again, are you?"

"I never lied to you!" the Nine-Tails snapped, thoroughly exasperated. "Fine! I'll do it. I'll reconcile with you. Satisfied now?"

She beamed and held out her tiny fist. "Deal?"

The Nine-Tails, grumbling, reluctantly bumped its massive paw against her hand.

As Kushina left the sealed space, humming a tune, the Nine-Tails slumped over in defeat.

Back in its domain, it mulled over everything that had just happened.

Something feels… off. Did that brat trick me?

It replayed the exchange in its mind, its ears drooping lower with each passing thought.

No, no. I'm the strongest tailed beast. I wouldn't fall for some human's trickery. Right?

But the more it thought about Kushina's confident smile and carefree departure, the more the truth began to dawn on it.

Wait… Did she just manipulate me?

The Nine-Tails groaned, covering its face with its massive paws.

"That little brat… I think I've been tricked. But… I have no evidence."
