Chapter 36: Chapter 36: Multiple Shadow Clone Jutsu
Mizuki and Shin's faces immediately dropped at Naruto's words.
Was he serious?
Couldn't he keep serious for just a moment?
Mizuki's expression twisted into one of pure fury, his massive tiger-like form quaking with rage. "You fucking bastard! How dare you play with me?!" he roared, his voice echoing like a thunderclap.
Without wasting another second, Mizuki's clawed hands began weaving a rapid series of hand signs. The malicious gleam in his glowing eyes made it clear—he was going to kill them.
Shin's heart leapt into his throat. Without thinking, he grabbed Naruto by the collar and hauled him away at full speed. His chakra surged as he enhanced his legs, pushing himself faster than ever before.
"Shin!" Naruto yelped in surprise, his legs flailing as Shin practically dragged him.
"Shut up!" Shin snapped, his eyes darting back toward Mizuki as he sprinted. I don't know how this transformation works. Is his chakra larger now? Are his jutsus stronger? I can't take any risks without knowing...
Just as they gained some distance, Mizuki's voice boomed with venomous triumph.
"Earth Release: Earth Flow Spears!"
The ground beneath Shin and Naruto cracked with a deafening rumble, a wave of violent tremors rippling outward. From the fractured earth, countless stone spears erupted with terrifying speed, their jagged tips glinting in the moonlight.
Shin barely managed to pull them both out of range, skidding to a halt behind a tree as the spears stopped just short of impaling them.
His chest heaved as he stared in disbelief. The clearing where they had stood moments ago was now a deadly forest of stone spikes. His wide eyes darted from spear to spear, trying to count them, but it was impossible.
Mizuki... he could only make one of those before. Just one! And now... Shin clenched his fists, his mind reeling. Now I can't even count how many he made.
His legs trembled as the crushing realization hit him. Just how strong had Mizuki become?
Shin's head snapped toward Naruto, his voice laced with urgency. "Naruto, you said you became strong as fuck before, right?" He clung to a sliver of hope, his mind racing. If Naruto had somehow tapped into the power of the Nine-Tails within him, maybe—just maybe—they had a chance.
"What do you mean by that, Naruto—" Shin's words cut off as he saw Naruto suddenly toss something through the air. Instinctively, Shin reached out and caught it.
It was the Scroll of Seals.
Naruto grinned over his shoulder, his tone casual and confident. "Keep it safe while I deal with this kitty!"
Shin nearly dropped the scroll in disbelief. "What?! Naruto, are you insane?!"
But Naruto was already walking toward Mizuki, his hands in his pockets, his posture relaxed as if he were strolling through the village on a lazy afternoon.
"Oi, tiger man!" Naruto called out, his tone lighthearted and annoyingly confident, as if he hadn't just narrowly escaped death. His smug grin stretched across his face. "I don't know if you really are Mizuki, but since you tried to harm me and Shin, I'm not letting you go!"
Shin's jaw dropped. "Naruto, what are you—"
Mizuki turned his predatory gaze toward Naruto, his expression briefly confused before twisting into malevolent amusement. His monstrous fangs glinted in the moonlight as he laughed, a deep, guttural sound that sent shivers down Shin's spine.
"You're not letting me go?" Mizuki sneered, his voice dripping with mockery. "You think you, the pathetic brat who ran away, can stop me?"
Naruto stopped a few steps away, crossing his arms and tilting his head slightly, as if Mizuki's words were nothing more than a minor annoyance. "Well, yeah. Obviously. I mean, you don't look that tough."
Shin's heart sank. He couldn't believe what he was hearing. Was Naruto really taunting him right now?
"Idiot!" Shin hissed under his breath, his fists clenching. He glanced back at the field of earth spears, their lethal sharpness gleaming in the faint light. What the fuck is he doing? Does he really think he can defeat Mizuki?
Mizuki's amusement evaporated, replaced by a snarl of pure rage. His massive claws flexed, digging into the ground beneath him. "You're going to regret those words, brat," he growled, his voice like thunder. "I'll make sure you and that little bastard friend of yours suffer before I kill you!"
Naruto didn't flinch. Instead, he raised a hand and jabbed a thumb at himself, his grin widening. "You can try, tiger man, but you've got no idea who you're messing with. I'm Naruto Uzumaki, future Hokage! And I've got a new move to show you!"
Shin froze, his heart racing. What new move? Did he really unlock the Nine-Tails power?
Naruto lowered his stance, his eyes narrowing with determination as he extended both hands forward. The air around him seemed to shift, a faint but palpable energy gathering as he focused.
Mizuki scoffed, his claws tensing. "A 'new move'? Don't make me laugh. You're just a clueless brat playing ninja—"
"Multiple Shadow Clone Jutsu!" Naruto shouted, slamming his hands together.
With a loud pop, the forest clearing was suddenly filled with an explosive burst of smoke. Mizuki's mocking laughter was abruptly cut off, replaced by stunned silence.
As the smoke cleared, Mizuki's glowing tiger eyes widened in shock. Surrounding him on all sides, spreading out as far as the moonlight could reach, were countless Narutos. Thousands of identical clones stood in perfect formation, their faces lit with identical grins of defiance.
The real Naruto stood at the forefront, his arms crossed confidently. "What's wrong, kitty?" he taunted, tilting his head with a smirk. "Not laughing anymore?"
Shin, clutching the Scroll of Seals tightly, stared at the sea of Narutos in disbelief. "What... what the hell?" he muttered. His mind raced, trying to comprehend what he was seeing. The Shadow Clone Jutsu? But this... this isn't normal! This must be an evolved version of the jutsu! He must have learnt it from the Scroll of Seals...
So that's what Naruto's new move is, but... just how fucking chakra does he have to make so many clones?
Mizuki's claws flexed as he snarled, his massive frame trembling with barely contained fury. "You... How?!"
Naruto's grin only widened. "What, surprised? You should be. I'm awesome!"
The clones echoed in unison, their voices reverberating across the clearing. "He's awesome!"
Mizuki bared his fangs, his rage boiling over. "You think a bunch of clones can stop me?! I'll tear through every last one of you!"
With a feral roar, Mizuki lunged forward, his claws swiping through the air toward the nearest group of clones. His massive form cut through them like a battering ram, dispelling several with each strike.
But for every clone that vanished in a puff of smoke, two more seemed to take its place.
Naruto's voice echoed from every direction. "Oh, really? Let's see how long you can keep that up!"
The clones swarmed Mizuki, coming at him from every angle. Some leapt onto his back, trying to pin his arms. Others attacked from the sides, delivering quick punches and kicks.
Mizuki roared in frustration, thrashing violently to shake them off. "Get off me, you brats!"
Shin watched in stunned awe as the scene unfolded. For the first time, he saw something in Naruto he hadn't expected: strategy. Mizuki was strong, but Naruto was overwhelming him with sheer numbers, forcing him to expend energy just to keep up.
Naruto's real voice called out from somewhere in the crowd. "What's the matter, tiger man? Getting tired already?"
"You little bastard!" Mizuki growled, his claws glowing faintly with chakra as he slammed them into the ground. "I'll crush you all at once!"
The earth beneath him began to tremble again, cracks spidering outward as he unleashed his chakra.
Shin's eyes widened in alarm. "Naruto, watch out! He's going to use another Earth Release Jutsu!"
But Naruto didn't flinch. Instead, the clones closest to Mizuki jumped back, creating just enough distance to avoid the immediate blast.
"Shin!" Naruto's real voice called out, cutting through the chaos. "Get ready to back me up!"
Shin snapped out of his daze, his grip tightening on the scroll. "Back you up? How?! I don't have any chakra left!"
Naruto grinned, his eyes blazing with determination. "Just trust me, okay? I've got this!"
Mizuki roared again, his chakra flaring as he prepared to unleash another devastating attack. But Naruto's clones moved in perfect synchronization, rushing forward like a coordinated wave.
Shin could only watch, his heart pounding in his chest. If anyone else had told him they had this under control, he wouldn't have believed it. But this was Naruto. And Naruto never lies.
To be continued...
