Naruto: The Medical Shinobi

Chapter 115: Chapter 113: Virtual messing

Ryu sat cross-legged on the floor, his breathing steady as he prepared himself for the task ahead. He laid out his tools: a special quill designed for fuinjutsu, blank fuinjutsu paper, normal papers, and various ink bottles. His mind was clear, but the weight of what he was about to attempt pressed on him.

He had already gained insight into the inner workings of the [Storage Seal], but he did not want to stop here. He wanted to modify the seal to enhance its functionality and efficiency.

With a deeper insight into the seal came new ideas to modify it, but even with those ideas, it was a challenge. But he must find a way to do it for the sake of his future plans. The only way to take over and dominate the Fuinjutsu market was if he did it with a new and advanced seal.

After his most recent overclocking session, he had taken a break to give his mind time to recuperate from the stress of overclocking. Now, he was ready to push himself again.

As he prepared to use his powers, Ryu inhaled deeply and slightly flexed his fingers.

"Here we go again," he muttered to himself, a wry smile tugging at the corner of his lips. "I hope my mind doesn't go kaboom."

- [Temporary Enhance] running on [Fast Thinking] and [Parallel Thinking]

- Overclocking enabled

His mind surged into overdrive, again, the familiar sensation of his thoughts speeding up, processing information at an accelerated rate.

He closed his eyes, and when he opened them again, he found himself in the [Mind Palace] again. He thought about the storage seal, and a colourful bubble came floating towards him.

"Full marks for special effects," he muttered, thanking [Hyperphantasia] for the beautiful sight of the void it shows him every time he enters here.

The storage seal he had memorised earlier appeared on a screen the moment he grabbed the bubble, each layer of the seal breaking down into distinct steps. His mental interface highlighted the particular parts he was looking at in different colours, at the same time displaying their function on a separate screen.

Ryu's eyes narrowed in concentration as he stared into the void, his mind projecting a second screen before him, a blank canvas.

Slowly, holographic shapes began to appear, one layer at a time, interacting with one another like pieces of a puzzle. Some of the shapes turned red and vanished, indicating that they were incompatible—like a coding error in a program or a digital jigsaw puzzle.

"Just like debugging," Ryu thought, his lips curling into a smile. He was no stranger to trial and error, but fuinjutsu was a different beast altogether. He tried every permutation possible, following his logic and his current understanding of Fuinjutsu, to solve this puzzle.

- Error identified: Chakra flow mismatch and resistance of chakra in some parts- Adjusting configuration

Ryu reasoned, "It was not just about logic; even though logic was correct in my best attempts, the chakra could not support it. Some parts are not compatible with others due to improper flow of chakra, even if the logic behind the seal is right. But I can circumvent it by using additional code. I can call it 'Chakra impedance matching', but that would result in increased complexity. I hope this trade-off is worth it."

Each time a block of the seal failed, he adjusted it slightly, trying a new adjusted configuration. The red blocks disappeared, only to be replaced by new ones. But after several attempts, one set of the blocks glowed green, signalling its success.

Ryu's heart skipped a beat as more and more blocks began to connect without error, turning green.

After some time and a lot of trail and errors, the entire structure of the seal glowed green before fading back to normal. At the bottom of his mental interface, the word 'success ' appeared.

- Success.

- New modified [Storage Seal] created and saved in the [Mind Palace].

- Overclocking disabled.

Ryu collapsed onto the floor, the real one, from the mental strain. His chest heaved as he tried to catch his breath, but a grin spread across his face.

The results were more than satisfactory, but it was exhausting for him.

Ryu rubbed his temples and mumbled, "I felt like my mind was divided into ten pieces for a moment, and the ten of me were working on the seal at once simultaneously. It's still ringing in my head."

He lay there for a few minutes, letting the exhaustion wash over him. His mind was sharp, but even he had limits. The overclocking ability, while powerful, took a heavy toll on both his mind and chakra reserves. He needed to be careful not to push himself too far in unsafe environments.

After about fifteen minutes, Ryu sat up, his eyes focusing on the hologram of the new seal he had crafted in his mind. It was more complex than the original, optimised for efficiency at the cost of increased difficulty in crafting.

"Only a fuinjutsu grandmaster could create this," Ryu mused, his fingers tracing the invisible lines of the seal in the air. "It's about 30% to 35% more chakra-efficient than the regular seal."

He paused, considering his next move. "Should I work on this new storage seal?" he wondered aloud. The temptation was strong—he had created something new, something better. But then he remembered his grandfather's warning.

Dan had been clear: no experimentation with the actual seal.

Ryu sighed, shaking his head. "Naa, I should probably stick to the regular seal for now. Grandpa warned me not to mess with the original, and I don't want to disappoint him. Virtual messing with the seal is enough for now."

With a simple gesture, Ryu put away the new seal, locking it away for future use. The old, regular seal appeared in front of him with its comparably simple structure.

"Back to basics," Ryu muttered, picking up the quill and dipping it into the ink. He placed the blank fuinjutsu paper in front of him, his hand steady as he prepared to make his first real attempt at crafting a seal.

"Even though I've already done this in my mind, this is my first real attempt," Ryu said to himself, his voice filled with a mix of excitement and nervousness.

- [Hyperphantasia] activated

- Projecting New Seal on Seal Paper

As he began tracing the lines of the seal, holographic projections appeared on the paper, guiding his hand. The ability called [hyperphantasia]—his hyper-visualisation—was proving to be incredibly useful.

"Pretty convenient," Ryu chuckled, his hand moving with precision as he followed the projections. But even with his abilities, the task was challenging. Fuinjutsu required absolute precision, and one wrong stroke could ruin the entire seal.

After about thirty minutes, Ryu leaned back, examining his work. "Even with my abilities, this is tough," he admitted. "I can only imagine how long it would take someone else to do this without the mental shortcuts I have."

He thought about the countless shinobi who had spent years mastering fuinjutsu, painstakingly going through every permutation and combination of seals in real life to gain insight. The risk of failure—and the potential for disaster—was always present.

Just then, the door to the room slid open, and Dan stepped inside, carrying a basket of fruits and snacks. "How's it going?" Dan asked, his eyes scanning the room before settling on Ryu.

Ryu smiled, holding up the paper. "I managed to make one in an hour. It's not easy."

Dan raised an eyebrow, clearly impressed. "An hour? That's... faster than I expected, especially for your first try. I thought even you would take a day."

Ryu shrugged, though he couldn't hide the pride in his voice. "I had some help," he said, tapping his temple.

Dan chuckled, shaking his head. "Shall we test it?"

Dan stepped forward, taking the apple from the basket himself.

"Let me handle this one," he said, his voice calm but firm. Ryu watched as Dan placed the apple on the seal and activated it with a practiced hand. The apple vanished instantly, and a character appeared on the seal, indicating that it was now storing the object.

"It worked," Ryu said, a grin spreading across his face. "It worked."

"You've done well, Ryu. Not many can pull off a storage seal on their first try, especially with such precision," Dan said, congratulating him.

Ryu replied, "Thanks. I think I will take a break for now. I am exhausted."

Dan nodded, his expression softening. "Keep up the good work and finish the remaining seals. But don't forget to continue your Lightning Affinity training in between your fuinjutsu session. You can take time to finish the rest of the seals."

As Dan left the room, Ryu leaned back, a sense of accomplishment washing over him. He had done it—his first real fuinjutsu seal. But this was just the beginning.

Dan murmured to himself as he went down the hallway outside, "A monarch, huh, I guess that's achievable if it's him."
