Naruto: Transmigrated As Nagato Uzumaki

Chapter 3: Chapter 2: A New Dawn in the Rain

Nagato awoke to the steady patter of rain, his body wracked with pain. He could feel the cold seeping into his bones, but a soft warmth at his side reminded him he was not alone. Konan knelt beside him, her face lined with worry as she tended to the wound on his forehead.

"Nagato, you're awake," she said softly, her voice barely audible over the rain.

Nagato groaned, attempting to sit up. The pain shot through him, but he gritted his teeth and pushed through. "How long was I out?"

Konan hesitated. "Only a few hours... but you lost a lot of blood. You need to rest."

Rest? Nagato thought bitterly. There's no time for rest. Not when so much is at stake.

He glanced around, noting the crude shelter Konan had hastily constructed. Yahiko's body lay wrapped in paper, a silent testament to the price they had paid. His chest tightened at the sight, but he forced himself to look away. There was no room for grief now.

"Konan," he said, his voice hoarse but determined, "we need to move. We can't stay here."

Konan's brows furrowed. "Nagato, you're in no condition to travel. We need to find a safe place first."

He shook his head, ignoring the wave of dizziness that followed. "No. We can't stay still. Obito gave us a year, but he'll be watching. We need to prepare."

"Prepare for what?"

"For the battles to come," he said, his Rinnegan glinting in the dim light. "For freedom, for Yahiko's dream... and for survival."

---

As they journeyed through the rain-soaked lands of Amegakure, Nagato's mind raced with possibilities. He reviewed everything he knew from his past life—every event, every character, every twist in the narrative. It was a treasure trove of information, but knowledge alone wasn't enough.

He needed power.

Orochimaru's name echoed in his thoughts. The rogue Sannin was a genius in forbidden techniques, a man who delved into the mysteries of life and death. Nagato knew he would need Orochimaru's expertise to fully harness his abilities and to stand against the likes of Obito and Madara.

But Orochimaru was no ally to anyone but himself. Nagato would have to tread carefully, offering something of equal value to gain his cooperation.

"Konan," he said, breaking the silence as they trudged through the muddy terrain.

"Yes?"

"We're heading south. Toward Orochimaru."

Her eyes widened in shock. "Orochimaru? That traitor? Why?"

"Because he has knowledge I need. Knowledge that will help us achieve our goals."

Konan frowned but didn't argue. She trusted Nagato, even if she didn't fully understand his reasoning.

---

As night fell, they found shelter in the ruins of an abandoned village. Konan prepared a modest meal while Nagato meditated, focusing on his chakra. He could feel the strain in his body, the limits of his current abilities. The Rinnegan was a gift, but it came at a cost—a cost he was only beginning to understand.

He thought of Yahiko, of his dream for a peaceful world. It had always been Yahiko who led them, who inspired them. Now, that responsibility fell to Nagato.

Can I do this? he wondered. Can I lead Konan and fulfill Yahiko's dream?

A pang of doubt crept into his heart, but he pushed it aside. Doubt was a luxury he couldn't afford.

"Nagato," Konan said, interrupting his thoughts. "You should eat."

He opened his eyes, offering her a small, grateful smile. "Thank you, Konan."

As they ate in silence, Nagato couldn't help but notice the weariness in her eyes. She had lost just as much as he had, yet she remained steadfast by his side.

"I promise," he said suddenly, his voice firm. "I won't let Yahiko's dream die. We will create a better world."

Konan's eyes softened, and for the first time since Yahiko's death, she allowed herself a small smile. "I believe in you, Nagato."

---

The rain had stopped by the time they set out the next morning, replaced by a heavy mist that clung to the air. Nagato felt a renewed sense of purpose. The path ahead was fraught with danger, but he was determined to see it through.

With Konan by his side and Yahiko's dream burning in his heart, Nagato took his first steps toward a new future.

A future where he would no longer be a pawn in someone else's game.

A future where the ninja world would know true peace.

And a future where he would prove, once and for all, that even in a world of endless rain, hope could still shine through.
