Chapter 242: Convening the Jōnin Meeting!

On Hokage Rock, a mysterious figure wearing a tiger-striped mask and a red-clouded cloak stood silently, gazing at the rooftop of the Hokage Tower.

When Haneda officially announced his succession as the Fifth Hokage, a faint smile appeared beneath the mask.

Black Zetsu, emerging from the ground through White Zetsu's body, chuckled theatrically:

"Lord Madara's dream has been fulfilled by your greatest friend. Are you feeling nostalgic?"

The masked man, none other than Obito, replied coldly, "Be quiet."

Black Zetsu observed Haneda standing on the Hokage Tower, accepting the cheers, and gave a grim reminder:

"Uchiha Haneda has ascended. He's adopted the Nine-Tails Jinchūriki. He's now your enemy."

Obito stared into the distance, his face emotionless.

"I have my plans."

Black Zetsu said no more; he already knew Obito had no intention of attacking Haneda.

For now, Black Zetsu pinned his hopes on Nagato to resurrect the real Madara.

Obito, on the other hand, had no emotional attachment to Nagato.

White Zetsu teased:

"Lord Madara must really like Haneda~ He can't bring himself to strike."

Noticing Haneda descending from the tower, Obito turned and activated Kamui, preparing to leave.

Before disappearing, he muttered,

"I will personally face him during the Eye of the Moon Plan."

---

On the Hokage Tower, Haneda stood for a moment before leaving. There were important matters to handle.

"Prepare to convene a Jōnin meeting. Everyone must arrive within ten minutes."

Shimura's clan head quickly responded before Asuma:

"As you command, Lord Hokage!"

Haneda handed a kunai marked with the Flying Thunder God seal to Kakashi and vanished instantly.

Within moments, a figure appeared atop Hokage Rock.

Haneda glanced in the direction where Obito had disappeared before using the Flying Thunder God to leave again.

This time, he didn't pursue Obito but instead returned home.

He headed to Naruto's room, knocked on the door, and received no response.

Deidara walked by, yawning:

"Haneda-bro, looking for Naruto? That kid sneaked out tonight."

"Where is he, Deidara?"

"Probably at Sasuke's place. Dunno why, but I really don't like that brat, hmph!"

"Remember to sleep early tonight, Deidara."

Haneda ignored Deidara's grumbling and vanished using the Flying Thunder God technique.

He appeared at Fugaku's residence.

Naruto was there with Sasuke, studying while bursts of laughter echoed from the room.

Haneda observed them secretly and saw how strong their bond already was. Despite meeting just days ago, they were inseparable.

Haneda appeared silently behind Naruto, smiling:

"Sorry, Sasuke, but I need to borrow Naruto for a bit~"

Sasuke, caught off guard, could only watch as Haneda and Naruto vanished instantly.

Rubbing his eyes, Sasuke realized what had happened and stomped his foot in frustration, pouting:

"Stupid Haneda-uncle! Just as bad as Shisui-brother!"

---

In a flash, Haneda and Naruto were back at the Hokage Tower, in Kakashi's office.

"I thought you'd wait until the last second to show up," Kakashi remarked, accustomed to Haneda's sudden appearances.

"I'm not someone who loses his way in life."

Haneda tossed Kakashi a copy of Icha Icha Paradise, compelling him to comply.

Then, holding Naruto's hand, Haneda sat in the Hokage's chair, directly across from the Third Hokage.

Staring at the Third, Naruto blurted out:

"Grandpa Hokage, is it true what Uncle Haneda said? Did you let that evil old geezer Danzo do whatever he wanted?"

"It's not right to call people names, Naruto!"

Haneda knocked Naruto lightly on the head, then added,

"Though Danzo is indeed a bad guy, so you can call him whatever you want."

"Then why'd you hit me?" Naruto pouted.

"To educate you."

Haneda wasn't about to make things too hard for the Third Hokage. Though a bit foolish and outdated in his later years, the Third had been helpful to Haneda early on.

Facing the now-awkward Third, Haneda spoke firmly:

"From now on, I'll correct your mistakes and restore Naruto's honor, in the name of the Hokage."

The Third sighed with a complex expression:

"You're the Hokage now."

As he walked out of the office, he stopped at the door, as if remembering something, and advised:

"The Fire Daimyō provides a large portion of Konoha's funding. Write him a letter tonight explaining the situation. I'll co-sign it."

"From now on, Konoha and Naruto are in your hands."

With a creak, the door closed.

The Third's departure signaled that he had fully relinquished Hokage duties to Haneda.

The desk was neatly organized, with documents sorted into stacks by category.

Haneda casually picked up one file, took a glance, and felt a headache coming on. Fortunately, it was something the Third had already dealt with.

"I need help for this. Who expects the Hokage to actually handle all this work?"

Looking up, Haneda spotted Kakashi lounging in a chair, engrossed in a book.

"What?" Kakashi asked.

"Guess."

Haneda gave a mysterious grin, and Kakashi instantly sensed trouble.

"I'm appointing you as my Hokage Advisor! A prestigious position admired by all! But…"

"You just want me to handle paperwork, don't you?" Kakashi saw through him immediately.

This guy had been lazy since childhood, often making Kakashi do his assignments.

"Exactly. As expected of you! So, how about it? It's an incredible honor, you know."

"I refuse."

"Wait, wait, don't go, Kakashi-san!"

Under Naruto's curious gaze, Haneda forcibly seated Kakashi beside the Hokage's chair—where an old one-eyed man used to sit.

"Just so we're clear, I won't do everything for you," Kakashi warned lazily.

Haneda massaged Kakashi's shoulders and reassured him:

"Don't worry! I won't rely on just you!"

"Who else are you thinking of?"

"A strategist, of course. I think someone from the Nara Clan would be perfect—smart and resourceful."

"Shikaku?"

"Exactly. Your people are reliable, and I trust your judgment."

Kakashi smirked, glanced at the clock on the wall, and stood up.

"Let's go. The meeting's about to start."

Holding Naruto's hand, Haneda led the way out of the office, with Kakashi quietly following.

By the time they arrived, the meeting room was already packed.

Everyone sat in anticipation of the Fifth Hokage's arrival.

The sound of footsteps echoed from the hallway outside.

With a creak, the door opened.

Under everyone's gaze, Haneda entered, holding Naruto's hand, with Kakashi half a step behind.
