Chapter 3: Chapter 3: The Whole School is Sensational!
Georgetown University Basketball Arena
The air in the gym was heavy with tension, anticipation, and the faint squeak of sneakers against polished hardwood.
Coach John Thompson and his assistant, Jenkins, stood courtside, watching what could only be described as a massacre.
"Coach Thompson, this…" Jenkins hesitated, unable to finish his sentence as he glanced at the scoreboard.
Mo Ran, the rookie phenom, was single-handedly dismantling his opponents. Every play seemed to reinforce his dominance on offense, defense, and everywhere in between. The opposing team didn't stand a chance.
By the end of the first half, the score was an embarrassment.
30 points.
15 rebounds.
8 blocks.
In 10 minutes.
Mo Ran was a force of nature, towering over his opponents with ease. His presence was suffocating, his moves ruthless.
The opposing players, once hopeful freshmen eager to prove themselves, now looked like shells of their former selves. Their shoulders slumped as they refused to return for the second half.
"They abstained," the referee announced. "Game over."
Mo Ran raised an eyebrow. "Already? I haven't even broken a sweat yet."
His teammates exchanged uneasy glances. While they were grateful to be advancing, they couldn't help but marvel at Mo Ran's dominance. He had carried the team entirely on his own, leaving them to watch in awe.
The second-round game was no different.
Another blowout. Another forfeiture by halftime.
Word spread across campus like wildfire. By the time the third match began, the gym was packed with students eager to witness the "monster from the Celestial Dynasty" in action.
"He scored 30 in one half?"
"15 boards and nearly 10 blocks? That's insane!"
"Dude, he's dunking from the free-throw line like it's nothing."
The chatter swelled as Mo Ran took to the court for his final game of the day.
On the Court
This time, the opponents tried to double-team him from the start, hoping to shut him down. It didn't matter.
With a single explosive step, Mo split the defense, leapt into the air, and hammered the ball through the hoop, sending the crowd into a frenzy.
"He's a cheat code!" someone yelled.
Moments later, on defense, Mo swatted away a layup attempt with such force that the ball bounced out of bounds and ricocheted into the stands.
By the end of the game, Mo's stat line read like something out of a video game:
40 points20 rebounds10 blocks
The crowd roared with approval as Coach Thompson approached him after the game.
"Congratulations, Mo," Thompson said with a broad smile. "You're officially on the team."
The Aftermath
As the gym emptied, the buzz around campus only grew louder. Mo Ran's performance had not only secured him a spot on the team but also made him a legend in less than a day.
For the coaching staff, the excitement was tempered with a healthy dose of strategy. Georgetown's preseason schedule included a warm-up game against none other than the University of North Carolina a team boasting young stars Antawn Jamison and Vince Carter.
Initially, Thompson had considered declining the invitation. It was clear that North Carolina wanted Georgetown as a stepping stone for their freshmen.
But now?
Now, Thompson saw an opportunity.
Jamison and Carter were extraordinary talents, no doubt. But with Alex Mo anchoring Georgetown's roster, Thompson felt confident.
"This warm-up game will be one for the books," Thompson said to Jenkins. "Mark my words."
In the Dorms
Back in his dorm, Mo sat on his bed, scrolling through his system interface.
"Ding! Task Completed: Dominate the Freshman Trials."
Reward Unlocked: +5 to Rebounding and Block Attributes.
He smiled. The system's upgrades made his already formidable skills even sharper.
But for Alex, the real test wasn't over yet. The upcoming game against North Carolina loomed large in his mind.
"Jamison and Carter, huh?" he muttered. "Let's see how they handle this monster."
As he lay back, letting the adrenaline fade, Alex felt a sense of purpose swelling within him. He wasn't just here to win games—he was here to redefine what it meant to dominate on the court.
