NBA Skills: Dominating Kuroko no Basket

Chapter 51: Tetsuya Kuroko

Bang, bang, bang!

With the sound of a loud collision, the lights in the gym suddenly flickered on, accompanied by the thump of a basketball hitting the floor over and over. It was as if someone was dribbling non-stop. This sudden change made Aomine's heart skip a beat, and a chill ran down his spine.

"It… it's here!" Aomine's eyes widened as he stared at the now-lit gym, his voice trembling a bit.

"Ah... Shiro!" Momoi, standing beside him, was visibly frightened. Though she didn't believe in ghosts, facing this situation made it hard to contain her fear. She grabbed hold of Shiroa's arm, clinging tightly to him.

Shiro looked a bit surprised, too. They had all been standing just outside the gym's entrance but hadn't noticed Kuroko slipping inside. Maybe it was because his focus had been on Momoi, causing him to overlook his surroundings.

Feeling Momoi trembling, Shiro quickly held her small, shaky hand, comforting her gently, "Momoi, don't be scared. I'm here, and this is all just a trick"

"Mm-hmm" Mpmoi blushed, leaning even closer to Shiro, and her initial fear seemed to ease a bit, thanks to his reassuring words.

"Come on, Aomine. The ghosts you mentioning are right here, aren't they?" Shiro said sound lighthearted, jokingly urging Aomine. Gritting his teeth, Aomine reluctantly nodded and said, "I… I know. Let's go in!"

Taking a deep breath, he summoned the courage to lead the way, carefully pushing the gym door open. Every step was cautious as he moved forward, fearing he might encounter something unexpected. Once inside, he scanned the place, trying to catch sight of that elusive figure.

To his relief, he didn't see anyone.

Momoi hadn't seen anything strange either. She relaxed, her body finally at ease as she glanced down at Shiro's hand holding hers tightly, feeling a wave of sweetness wash over her like candy. She even found herself admiring Shiro's hands—their clean, refined shape almost sculpted to perfection.

Meanwhile, Shiro kept his gaze fixed ahead, his focus sharpening as he caught sight of a slender, blue-haired figure.

At the same time, this young man was watching Shiro and the others with a curious, almost puzzled expression, wondering why they were lingering around.

"This was all nonsense, Shiro. There's no such thing as ghosts" Aomine scoffed, shrugging.

Just as Shiro was about to reply, Kuroko stepped forward and tapped Aomine lightly on the shoulder.

"Aah!" Aomine shrieked, startled, and ducked into a corner, refusing to face reality.

"Help! Mom! Ghosts, leave me alone! Ghosts, leave me alone!" Aomine stammered, shaking.

Momoi screamed in fright as Aomine yelled, turning pale and throwing herself into Shiro's warm embrace, trembling with fear.

Holding Momoi in his arms, Shiro couldn't help but feel a slight thrill, realizing how much she was relying on him.

"Um… are you all right?" Kuroko's innocent face showed only confusion as he asked what was going on.

Aomine's head, tearful and trembling, turned at the sound of Kuroko's voice.

"Aomine?" Kuroko seemed to recognize Aomine, tilting his head slightly, his eyes darting to Shiro and Momoi "And you must be Shiro and Momoi, right?"

Shiro didn't say much, only softly reassuring Momoi in his arms, "Momoi, don't worry. It's just a classmate, no ghosts here" he murmured, patting her back reassuringly.

Gradually relaxing, Momoi looked up at Shiroa, her tearful eyes gazing at him with a mix of relief and confusion, "Really?"

"Of course! You're safe with me" Shiro's heart skipped a beat as he thought, 'How can Momoi be so adorable, like a little angel! '

Momoi finally looked over at Kuroko, realizing he wasn't unusual, and then, with a flushed face, stepped back from Shiro's arms, murmuring, "Sorry"

Shiro shook his head gently, smiling. "As long as it's you, Momoi, you can hug me as much as you like". He turned back to Kuroko, still smiling. "Seems like the gym 'haunting' was just another player training late"

Aomine, regaining his composure, added, "Yeah, I thought it was a ghost or something!"

Kuroko rubbed the back of his head sheepishly, a slight smile showing, "Sorry about that. I was just here practicing."

Shiro and Aomine exchanged a look, realizing Kuroko's dedication. They expressed their admiration for his effort. Shiro clapped Kuroko on the shoulder, "No worries. Training like this will definitely pay off! We should be learning from you"

Aomine nodded, grinning. "You're amazing; even first-string players don't work as hard! Let's play together sometime and learn from each other." His smile showed genuine admiration.

Kuroko's face brightened at their encouragement.

"Right! Shiro, let's come here every day to train with him!" Aomine looked at Shiro, clearly eager for him to agree.

But Shiro glanced at Momoi, hesitating. "Uh, but what about Momoi?" he said, his gaze lingering on her.

Momoi quickly waved him off, smiling warmly, "Don't worry, Shiro. I can wait for you two"

Shiro thought for a moment and proposed a compromise. "How about this, Momoi? I'll practice for a while, then I'll take you home afterward" He looked at her, hopeful she'd accept the plan.

Momoi nodded, her gaze never leaving Shiro, her face full of trust and support.

In that moment, they looked at each other, smiling as if sharing a silent understanding—maybe they didn't need Aomine around as a third wheel.

"Oh yeah, by the way, we don't know your name yet" Aomine said, looking at Kuroko.

Kuroko seemed slightly nervous under their gaze. After a deep breath, he introduced himself, "I'm Tetsuya Kuroko. You can just call me Kuroko"

Shiro smiled and responded, "I'm Kawakami Shiro You can call me Shiro!"

Aomine chimed in, "Daiki Aomine, but Aomine works just fine"

Lastly, Momoi added her own introduction with a smile, "Hello, Kuroko. I'm Satsuki Momoi"

After introductions, Aomine turned to Kuroko with newfound enthusiasm, "Tetsuya, keep up the hard work! Someday we'll be on the court together."

Kuroko's eyes lit up, and he asked hopefully, "Really?"

"Of course! Every real baller is a friend of mine." Aomine confidently extended a fist for a fist bump.

Kuroko seemed momentarily surprised, but soon returned the gesture with a small smile.

As they bumped fists, it felt as though the whole gym was lit by their budding friendship. Watching this, Shiro and Momoi exchanged a satisfied smile.
