Chapter 31: Ties that Bind: The Weight of Night Raid's Purpose
Yhwach Pov:
Yhwach watched as Tatsumi, determined and sorrowful, helped in burying his friends. The moon cast an eerie glow over the graves, and the night air was filled with a somber stillness. Yhwach, standing beside Tatsumi, could sense the weight on the young man's shoulders.
Yhwach: Tatsumi, you need not shoulder this burden alone. I can handle it.
Tatsumi, dirt-streaked and weary, looked up at Yhwach with a mixture of gratitude and defiance.
Tatsumi: No, Yhwach, they were my friends. I can't just stand by and let you do everything. I need to do this for them.
Yhwach nodded in understanding, acknowledging Tatsumi's determination. Together, they continued to dig the graves and lay Tatsumi's friends to rest. The process was both a cathartic release of grief and a solemn tribute to those who had suffered unjustly.
As they worked in silence, Yhwach found himself respecting Tatsumi's resilience. The young man had been thrust into a world of darkness, yet he faced it head-on, seeking justice for the friends he had lost.
Once the graves were dug, Tatsumi and Yhwach carefully laid the bodies to rest, covering them with dirt. Tatsumi, his emotions raw, whispered a few words of farewell and gratitude to each of his fallen friends.
Tatsumi: I promise, I won't let their deaths be in vain. I'll make sure justice is served.
Yhwach: You have my support, Tatsumi. We'll face this darkness together.
After completing the solemn task, Yhwach and Tatsumi stood by the graves, a silent understanding passing between them.
Yhwach observed Tatsumi, recognizing the inner turmoil that still lingered within him. The weight of the loss and the newfound responsibility to seek justice pressed heavily on Tatsumi's shoulders.
Yhwach: Tatsumi, You need some time alone to think through the events that have transpired. I'll head back to the base. Take all the time you need here.
Tatsumi looked up, a mix of gratitude and understanding in his eyes.
Tatsumi: Thank you, Yhwach. I just need to process everything.
Yhwach nodded and gave Tatsumi a reassuring pat on the shoulder before turning to leave. The Night Raid's base was a short distance away, hidden in the shadows to avoid detection. Yhwach walked through the moonlit night, his mind grappling with the darkness that permeated the capital.
Tatsumi was still outside, recalling the memories that he and his friends had together.
(Flashback)
Sayo: "Let's make a pact that when we die, We die together!"
Ieyasu: "We're going to be leaders in the Imperial Capital!"
Tatsumi: "And make enough money to save the village. We'll be heroes!"
(End of Flashback)
Tatsumi: (in thought) So much for that.
Tatsumi sighed in contemplation, feeling a soft touch on his head.
Tatsumi: Huh?
He looked up and saw Leone.
Leone: Hehehe.
Leone chuckled.
Tatsumi: WHAAA!! DON'T SNEEK UP ON ME LIKE THAT!!!
He said this while backing away from Leone.
Leone: So, have you decided to officially join yet?
She said this while Tatsumi was walking up to her.
Tatsumi: I told you that.
Leone: You really do have the makings of an assassin, you know.
She interrupted while poking Tatsumi's face.
Tatsumi: It's not a matter of whether I'd be good or not; it's just that I don't want to kill people.
Leone: Well.
She grabbed Tatsumi's head and made her way to the base.
Leone: I'm going to introduce you to the guys anyway.
Meanwhile, Akame was in the kitchen and watched the whole scene.
Akame: (in thought) Hmm, I wonder where Yhwach is. He was with Tatsumi a couple of hours ago.
Leone and Tatsumi made their way into the base and met up with a purple-haired girl with glasses.
Purple Haired Girl: Oh, He still doesn't want to be a part of the team in spite of what happened?
Leone: He's a bit hesitant, so I was hoping you could give him a few words of encouragement.
Purple Haired Girl: Hmm, well, since we showed you and Yhwach the location of our hideout... If we can't convince you to join our team, then you'll be dead.
Tatsumi: Uh, Is that supposed to be encouragement or a threat?
He asked shakily.
Purple Haired Girl: Just give it plenty of thought, ok?
Leone: Oh, by the way, have you seen Yhwach around?
Purple Haired Girl: Well, no, I didn't see him. Why?
Leone: Well, I was going to ask him if he wanted to join or not.
She quickly stopped and saw Yhwach in the hallway, headed towards them.
Leone: Well, speak of the devil. I was looking for you.
Yhwach approached the group, his demeanor composed and unfazed.
Yhwach: What's the reason behind your search for me?
Purple Haired Girl: She wanted to see if you wanted to join the team or not.
Yhwach, his piercing gaze shifting from Leone to the purple-haired girl.
Yhwach: I appreciate the invitation, but my role is to assist Tatsumi and ensure justice prevails in the capital. However, I'll be here to support Night Raid in our common goal.
Leone: Oh, come on, Yhwach! We could use someone with your skills. Plus, you'd get to hang out with us more.
Yhwach: My focus is on the mission and helping Tatsumi navigate this treacherous path. Night Raid's goals align with ours for now.
Purple Haired Girl: Fair enough. Just know you're welcome anytime
Yhwach turned to the purple-haired girl.
Yhwach: What's your name?
Purple Haired Girl: My name is Sheele.
She said while giving her hand out to shake, to which he took.
Pink Haired Girl: What the Hell?!
Tatsumi, Leone and Yhwach looked over and saw the same pink haired girl from before.
Pink Haired Girl: Leone, why did you bring these losers back to the hideout?!
She said, pointing at Tatsumi and Yhwach.
Yhwach regarded the pink-haired girl with a calm expression, unfazed by her apparent displeasure. Leone, on the other hand, grinned mischievously.
Leone: Relax, Mine. They're not losers; they're potential new recruits.
Mine scoffed, crossing her arms.
Mine: Hmph, as if we need more people. This place is crowded enough.
Leone: Oh, come on! We're like one big, dysfunctional family.
Tatsumi, unsure of how to react to the banter, observed the interactions with a mix of curiosity and confusion.
Tatsumi: Dysfunctional family?
Leone: Yeah, you know, like a group of misfits working together for a common cause. It's not always smooth, but we get the job done.
Yhwach nodded in agreement, appreciating the camaraderie that seemed to define Night Raid.
Yhwach: Unity is a powerful force, regardless of its form.
The Three then found their way into the practice field, where Bulat is currently is working on spear techniques.
Leone: This is our Practice Field, where we go to let of some steam. Oh, and look who's already here trying to work up a sweat. That's Bulat.
She said, pointing towards him.
Tatsumi: (in thought) Incredible, he's really good with that spear.
Bulat then demonstrated his proficiency by generating a shockwave of air with swift movements of his spear.
Yhwach observed the display with keen interest, his eyes focused on Bulat's masterful handling of the weapon.
Yhwach: A spear wielder of considerable prowess. His techniques are both precise and powerful. There's a fluidity in his movements, a dance with the weapon that speaks of extensive training and skill. It's evident that he has honed his art to a remarkable level.
Leone grinned, noting Yhwach's attention to Bulat's skills.
Leone: Bulat's not just a powerhouse he's our expert spear wielder. His precision and strength make him a formidable force in battle.
Bulat then turns around and is then seen with no shirt on.
Bulat: Oh, Hey! Aren't you two the people that we picked up yesterday?
Tatsumi: How'd you know that?
Leone: Bulat here is the guy you saw in the big armor yesterday.
Bulat: That's right, The name's Bulat. Pleasure's mine.
He then took his hand out for Tatsumi to shake.
Tatsumi: Uhh... Tatsumi. He said, a little unsure about Bulat.
Leone: And yes, he's gay.
Tatsumi: Gah!
He said as he yanked his hand away from Bulat's grasp.
Bulat: Hey c'mon, don't give them the wrong Idea... Yet~.
He said in a flirtatious voice.
Tatsumi: (in thought) I can think of a lot of wrong ideas right now.
Yhwach: Apologies, but that's not my inclination.
Bulat: All well, you can't blame a man for trying, can you?
After their talk, they continued their way until they saw a green-haired boy with goggles on top of his head.
Green Haired Boy: Hehehe, It's almost time for Leone's baaaaath.
He said while getting up from the ground.
Green Haired boy: I'd do just about anything for a peak at that smokin' hot body!
The pervert said in a sing-song tone.
Leone: In that case... How 'bout you give up two fingers?
She said in a serious tone.
He then turned around and saw Leone glaring at him. He gulped. Leone then grabbed his left hand and twisted it, making a popping sound.
Green Haired boy: AAAAAAAAAHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!
He screamed at the top of his lungs while being forced to the ground.
Leone: You never learn, do you?
She said, putting one foot on his back.
Green Haired boy: OWOWOW PLEASE STOP!!!
Leone: Next time, I'll break you arm, got it.
She said as she tightens her grip on his hand.
Green Haired boy: OOOOOOWW, OK, OK, OK, OK, OK!!!
Leone: This is Lubbock, as you can tell, he's an idiot.
Lubbock: ALRIGHT I GIVE UP, JUST LET ME GO!!!
Leone finally lets Lubbock go and they continue walking around nearby a river.
Leone: Ok, who's next?
Tatsumi: I don't know how many more I can take.
Leone: Hehe. The next one's a cutie so try not to stare. She's stuffing her face by the fire over there. Hey Akame!
Akame then turns around and is seen eating the meat of a giant bird she killed.
Tatsumi: (in thought) And there's this freak!
Tatsumi: I'm just now realizing that she's eating a giant bird. Did she kill that thing herself?!
Leone: Akame's our resident wild child.
Akame: Leone, have some.
She said while tossing her some meat.
Leone: Huh? Thanks!
Akame: Yhwach.
She said, gaining his attention.
Akame: Are you going to be joining us?
She asked.
Yhwach regarded Akame with a measured expression, appreciating her directness.
Yhwach: My primary focus is on supporting Tatsumi in his quest for justice. However, I'm here to assist in any way I can.
Akame: What about you?
She asked Tatsumi.
Tatsumi: Uh.. no.
He answered blankly.
Akame: Then I'm sorry I won't be sharing any of my dinner with you.
Tatsumi: (in thought) I'm okay with that!
He yelled in his head.
Tatsumi: (in thought) This chick's already tried to kill me twice, I'd better watch out for her.
Leone: Is it me or is everyone a little more jacked up today?
Akame: That's cause the boss is back.
Leone, Yhwach, and Tatsumi turned to their right and saw a woman with a metal right arm, an eye patch across her right eye, and short gray hair.
Leone: BOSS!
Boss: Hey!
Leone: Welcome back! Did you bring me anything good?
She said while making her way to her.
Boss: Now why would I do that?
Leone looked confused.
Boss: About one of you most recent assignments, I was told you completed it three days overdue.
She said, clutching her metal arm.
Leone: Aaaah, Crap!
She said, sprinting away from her boss only to get dragged back by a metal hand holding her by the back of her neck.
Boss: When facing a powerful opponent, it is unwise to get caught in the fun. Shouldn't you know better than that by now?
She said using her metal arm like a grappling hook to drag Leone towards her.
Leone: Okay, I've learned my lesson. Now please let go of me!
She said whiningly.
Boss: Anyway.
She said, letting go of Leone.
Boss: Tell me about these two.
Leone: Oh! That's right! Yhwach and Tatsumi here agreed to join us!
She said laying her arm on Tatsumi's shoulder.
Tatsumi: We haven't agreed to anything!
Boss: Do they seem promising?
Leone: Absolutely.
The Boss glared at Yhwach and Tatsumi
Yhwach met the intense gaze of the Boss, her one visible eye scrutinizing him and Tatsumi. Despite the piercing scrutiny
Leone: See, all we want you to do is just try. K'ay?
Tatsumi: That wasn't what you said earlier!
The Boss stood up while grabbing a jacket that had the Night Raid symbol on it.
Boss: Akame, go get everyone together. I want to hear everything, including these two.
Timeskip
Yhwach, Tatsumi, and Leone made their way into the base in the meeting room while Akame was gathering everyone to the same area. When Akame and the others arrived, The Boss started talking.
Boss: Thank you all. I think I understand the situation here. Yhwach! Tatsumi! How would you both to be the newest members of Night Raid?
Yhwach and Tatsumi exchanged glances, both surprised by the sudden turn of events. The offer to join Night Raid, an organization that seemed to thrive on chaos and rebellion, wasn't something they had anticipated. Yhwach, maintaining his composed demeanor, spoke first.
Yhwach: Your offer is appreciated. However, my primary focus remains on supporting Tatsumi in his pursuit of justice.
Tatsumi, still processing the idea of joining such a group, hesitated before speaking.
Tatumi: And your gonna kill Us if We refuse to join, right?
Boss: No, we wouldn't kill you... But we wouldn't let you leave either.
Tatsumi looked at Yhwach confused.
Boss: You'd have to remain here and work in our factory. Either way, we won't take your life but I do encourage you to join. Your choice.
Yhwach: Tatsumi, we should consider the options carefully. While the circumstances are unconventional, Night Raid's goals align with our current mission.
Tatsumi, still hesitant, nodded in agreement. The Boss observed their reactions, her eye narrowing slightly
Tatsumi: I, uhh.... I just wanted to make a lot of money in the Imperial Capital, so that I'd be able to save my village from starvation. But the Capital wasn't what I thought.
Bulat: Tatsumi, Corruption in the Capital is creating mass-poverty all over the countryside. Don't you want to uproot all that corruption at the source? Like a man would?
Boss: Bulat used to be a high-ranking officer in the Imperial Army, But he joined us when he found out what was really going on in the Capital.
Bulat: If we don't do something about the scum terrorizing the Capital, Then it's never gonna get cleaned up. So it's our job to get rid of those bastards whenever we get the chance.
Tatsumi: That's fine... but I don't think you can make a real big difference by eliminating a couple of rotten eggs here and there. I mean, Doing things this way won't save places like my village.
Boss: That's correct. And that's why Night Raid's the perfect fit for you.
Tatsumi: Um.. And why is that?
Boss: There's an anti-Empire group called the Revolutionary Army that has a hideout south of the Capital. They started out small, but they've grown into a rather formidable organization. They needed a separate unit to convert operations, such as recon and assassinating targets.
Yhwach: That's the purpose of Night Raid, isn't it?
Yhwach interjected.
Boss: Precisely, we're only putting out one fire at a time right now, but when the Revolutionary Army decides to make its move and admits the chaos, we'll head straight for the cause of this mess. The Minister!
Tatsumi: So, you're gonna... kill him?
Boss: Only then will our nation truly see change.
Tatsumi: So if our Nation truly had a new start, you really think all of those people would be safe and happy again?
Boss: I am certain.
Tatsumi: I.. I love it! It's like you guys are taking out the trash... killing of the bad guys one by one. Your a rogue team of assassins for the sake of justice!
At those words everyone started to laugh Excluding Akame, The Boss, Yhwach.
Tatsumi: W-What's wrong? Did I say something weird?
Tatsumi looked around, bewildered by the laughter that echoed in the room. He turned to Yhwach, who remained stoic and unaffected by the mirthful atmosphere.
Tatsumi: Yhwach, do you... do you know why they're laughing?
Yhwach met Tatsumi's gaze, his expression unwavering.
Yhwach: It doesn't matter, Tatsumi. The reason or the perceived good it may bring. A murder is a murder. To kill is a sin. They are all killers. And so will you be, if you go along their path.
Tatsumi, taken aback by Yhwach's stern words, searched for understanding.
Tatsumi: But... we're doing it for justice, to bring about change!
Yhwach: Justice is a subjective concept, Tatsumi. What one deems just, another may see as an atrocity. These actions, though driven by a desire for change, are stained with blood. It's a path that will forever burden your conscience.
Sheele: And there's no justice to be found in the way we do things.
Bulat: Any given moment... Everyone of us could be forced to atone for the blood that we've spilled.
Mine: Man, Tatsumi has no idea, It'll be a thousand years before he can handle it..
Boss: Every team member fights for a different reason, But each bares a strong resolve. Are you prepared to risk your life? Both of you?
Tatsumi: You guys are going to pay me for this, Aren't you?
Boss: We do get paid for our work, but it's not just about the money. It's about making a difference, about challenging the corrupt system that plagues our nation.
Tatsumi exchanged glances with Yhwach, contemplating the gravity of the decision before them.
Tatsumi: (in thought) Can I really become an assassin? Can I accept the path stained with blood, even if it's for the sake of justice?
Yhwach, recognizing Tatsumi's internal struggle, spoke calmly.
Yhwach: Tatsumi, the choice is yours to make. Consider the consequences and the weight it will place on your soul. It's a decision that once made, cannot be undone.
Tatsumi: I've made up my mind. I'll join Night Raid.
Leone grinned, clapping him on the back.
Leone: That's the spirit! Welcome to the family!
Boss: And what about you, Yhwach?
Yhwach remained silent for a moment, contemplating the implications of aligning himself with Night Raid. The concept of justice was a complex one for him, shaped by his own experiences and beliefs.
Yhwach: My allegiance lies with Tatsumi. Where he goes, I follow. If this is the path he chooses, then I shall walk it alongside him.
Boss nodded, accepting Yhwach's decision.
Boss: Very well. Welcome to Night Raid, both of you.
Boss: Akame, you're in charge for Yhwach and Tatsumi's training.
Tatsumi trembled a bit at those words.
Boss: Should they become a burden, get rid of them.
Akame: Understood.
Leone: Work hard you two, and you won't die.
Tatsumi looked at Akame.
Tatsumi: (in thought) It HAD to be her... I am so dead.

(Flashback)
Sayo: The more skills we can start learning right now, the quicker we'll be able to get ahead in the military!
Ieyasu : And if we ever run out of provisions or something, maybe knowing how to prepare food might save us someday.
(End of Flashback)
Tatsumi: (in thought) Sayo... Ieyasu... Who knew learning to cook with you guys would come in so handy? Yhwach's actually doing very well for a Traveler
Mine: I said I want seconds!
Bulat: Oh! Me too!
Lubbock: I'll take some!
Sheele: Oh yes please, if you don't mind that is.
Tatsumi: (in thought) They're running me ragged!
Tatsumi: Uh Yhwach? A little help with making them slow down on the food?
I asked him, preparing for what's about to happen.
Yhwach, who had been observing the lively scene with a hint of amusement, nodded in response to Tatsumi's request.
Yhwach: Allow me to address this matter.
He stood up, his presence commanding attention. The members of Night Raid, mid-meal and enjoying Tatsumi's cooking, looked at Yhwach with curiosity.
Yhwach: While I understand the importance of nourishment, it is equally crucial to maintain discipline in our actions. Overindulgence may lead to complacency, a weakness that can prove detrimental in the field.
Leone: Oh, come on, Yhwach! We're just enjoying a good meal.
Mine: Yeah, lighten up a bit!
Yhwach remained unfazed, his expression unchanged.
Yhwach: Discipline is a cornerstone of any effective force. It is essential to strike a balance between indulgence and preparedness. We mustn't forget the purpose of our training and missions.
The atmosphere in the room shifted as Yhwach's words resonated with a sense of authority. The members of Night Raid, accustomed to a more laid-back environment, found themselves contemplating the gravity of their responsibilities.
Bulat: He's got a point, you know. We can't afford to let our guard down.
Leone: Fine, fine. We'll slow down a bit, Captain Serious.
Leone grinned, giving Yhwach a playful salute. The others followed suit, acknowledging the need for balance in their pursuits.
Tatsumi: (in thought) Well, at least that worked.
After we finished cooking for everyone, Yhwach, Akame, and I found ourselves in the kitchen.
Tatsumi: Oh, come on! I thought I was supposed to become an assassin, not a stupid chef!
Akame: Don't look at me, I just put the food on the plates. Okay?
She said, casually eating a grape.
Tatsumi: Oh, they won't let you cook because you kept sampling the food, is that it?
Akame: I don't know what you mean.
She replied before eating another grape.
Yhwach: As skilled as you are in assassination, Akame, your skills in deception could use some improvement.
Yhwach remarked
Mine: Aww, look, you're right at home in the kitchen, aren't you, rookie?
Tatsumi: WHAT?!
Leone: Easy, Tatsumi. Mine's just teasing you.
Mine smirked, enjoying Tatsumi's flustered reaction. Yhwach, however, maintained his calm demeanor.
Yhwach: Cooking is a valuable skill, Tatsumi. It ensures that we can sustain ourselves during missions and remain focused on our objectives.
Tatsumi grumbled but reluctantly accepted the reasoning.
Bulat: Later, sunshine.
Tatsumi: Bulat? Wait a sec... are you guys heading out on a mission?
Bulat: Yeah, This one's a special request.
Tatsumi: Shouldn't we come too?
Mine: You stay here in the kitchen, now you be a good cook and chop up some cucumbers for me!
Tatsumi: (in thought) Why does she always have to be like that?
He thought as Mine was laughing.
Mine: See y'all.
Tatsumi: Grrrrr!
Yhwach: Stay composed, Tatsumi. Allowing her to provoke you only validates her. Keep your focus.
He placed a reassuring hand on Tatsumi's shoulder.
Tatsumi: Thank you, Yhwach.
Akame: Yhwach, you're an intriguing addition to our group. Your principles differ from ours, yet you've chosen to walk this path.
Yhwach acknowledged Akame's observation with a nod.
Yhwach: Principles are molded by experience and conviction. While ours may differ, our common goal binds us. The pursuit of justice, no matter the form it takes.
Akame: It's a dangerous path we walk, stained with the consequences of our actions. Be prepared for what lies ahead.
Yhwach: I am prepared. My journey is intertwined with Tatsumi's, and together, we shall face whatever challenges arise.
Akame regarded Yhwach for a moment, her gaze penetrating. After a brief silence, she spoke.
Akame: Yhwach, may I have a word with you in private?
Yhwach inclined his head in acknowledgment, following Akame to a quieter corner of the base. The dim lighting cast shadows on their faces as they stood in the secluded space.
Akame: What are you?
Yhwach: What prompts such a sudden inquiry?
She unsheathed her sword, and my defensive instincts kicked in, but she simply held it before her.
Akame: This sword, Murasame, claims lives with a single stroke. No one has ever survived its touch. Until yesterday.
Yhwach gaze fixed on the ominous blade, sensing a malevolent aura emanating from it.
Yhwach: A cursed sword, perhaps?
Akame: One might perceive it as such. It's a Teigu.
Yhwach was on the verge of asking for an explanation when Tatsumi approached them with a sense of urgency.
Tatsumi: Yhwach, I need to talk to you real quick.
Yhwach turned to Tatsumi, his demeanor shifting from the serious discussion with Akame to the present concern.
Yhwach: Tatsumi, I sense a conflict within you. What troubles your thoughts?
Tatsumi sighed, running a hand through his hair.
Tatsumi: It's just... I never expected to become an assassin. I wanted to make money to help my village, but this... it feels like I've taken a different path entirely.
Yhwach, understanding Tatsumi's struggle, spoke with a reassuring tone.
Yhwach: Paths in life are often unpredictable. What matters is how we navigate them and the choices we make along the way. Your intentions remain noble, Tatsumi, even if the methods have changed.
Tatsumi nodded, appreciating Yhwach's perspective.
Tatsumi: Yeah, I guess you're right. It's just a lot to take in.
Yhwach: Change is a constant in life. Embrace it, and you may find unexpected strength within yourself.

Me, Yhwach, and Akame went to a river with a waterfall to get dinner, no doubt, this place is beautiful. I wonder what were going to catch though.
Tatsumi: Wow, This place is great!
Akame: Today, we'll start by catching fish for dinner.
She said while taking her Clothes off.
Tatsumi: Woah!!
I yelled while backing off and shielding my eyes.
Akame: What seems to be the problem?
I unshielded my eyes and saw Akame in a swimsuit.
Akame: The target is Koga Tuna, see how many you can get.
She said as she made her way to the lake.
Tatsumi: Aren't those things extremely rare and stupidly hard to get a hold of?
We saw Akame jump into the lake and pull out 5 Koga Tuna in 8 seconds flat and swim up to the top. To say I was impressed was an understatement.
Akame: First, you have to swim all the way down to the bottom, then conceal your aura and make your attack. You have to act very quickly. Give it a try.
Yhwach, observing Akame's swift and efficient fishing technique, remained composed on the riverbank.
Yhwach: I would prefer not to swim.
Akame, unfazed, turned to Yhwach with a raised eyebrow.
Akame: How do you plan to catch Koga Tuna, then?
Yhwach, in response, extended his hand, and a manifestation of spiritual energy began to coalesce, forming a gleaming spear made of reishi.
Tatsumi, witnessing this display, couldn't help but be astonished.
Tatsumi: (in thought) Is this guy for real? He just created a spear out of thin air!
Yhwach, holding the spear with a firm grip, approached the water's edge.
Yhwach: Using a spear is more efficient for me.
Akame, nodding in acknowledgment, dived back into the water to continue her fishing. Yhwach, with precise movements, aimed the reishi spear and thrust it into the water, catching the attention of the Koga Tuna.
As Yhwach continued to fish, he found himself lost in a distant memory.
(Flashback)
The scene shifted to a riverbank, the sound of flowing water echoing in the background. Yhwach stood beside Kenny, holding a fishing rod.
Kenny: Now, Yhwach, you gotta be patient. Fishing ain't just about catching dinner it's about the experience.
The flashback revealed moments of tranquility, with Yhwach learning the art of fishing from Kenny. It was a stark contrast to the current situation, but the memories served as a reminder of a simpler time.
(End of Flashback)
Back in the present, Yhwach, with a faint smile, continued to catch Koga Tuna with precision. The spear moved effortlessly through the water, showcasing a skill honed through different worlds and experiences.
As Yhwach pulled three Koga Tuna from the water simultaneously, the flashback faded away.
Tatsumi: (in thought) That was unexpected. Yhwach seems to have his own set of skills beyond what I imagined.
Akame surfaced, holding her own catch of Koga Tuna.
Akame: Impressive, Yhwach. You've got quite the knack for fishing.
Akame observed Yhwach's fishing prowess with a hint of curiosity in her eyes. Yhwach, having caught the attention of both Tatsumi and Akame, decided to share a bit of his past.
Yhwach: Fishing has its own beauty, an art passed down to me by someone I once considered a friend.
Tatsumi: (in thought) A friend... I wonder what kind of person taught him to fish.
Akame: Now, Tatsumi, it's your turn.
Tatsumi hesitated for a moment, glancing at the water and then at Yhwach.
Tatsumi: (in thought) I hope I don't embarrass myself.
He took a deep breath and began to undress, preparing to dive into the water. Akame watched him with a composed expression, seemingly unfazed by the situation.
Tatsumi, now shirtless, approached the water's edge with a determined look.
Tatsumi: Here goes nothing.
He dived into the water, attempting to emulate the techniques he had just witnessed. However, things didn't go as smoothly for Tatsumi. After several attempts, he resurfaced with only two Koga Tuna in hand, a far cry from Yhwach's efficient fishing.
Tatsumi: (in thought) Ugh, I need more practice.
Yhwach, watching Tatsumi's attempts, approached him with a calm demeanor.
Yhwach: Tatsumi, there's no shame in learning. Mastery comes with experience. But there's something important I need to discuss with both of you.
Akame and Tatsumi looked at Yhwach, intrigued by the serious tone in his voice.
Yhwach: The abilities I possess are not common, and they are not to be revealed to others. It is imperative that you both keep this information confidential.
Tatsumi: Abilities? What are you talking about?
Yhwach: My control over spiritual energy, the creation of weapons like the reishi spear. It's not a power that should be disclosed lightly.
Akame, who had been silently observing, raised an eyebrow.
Akame: Why the secrecy?
Yhwach: There are forces at play, beyond the scope of this world, that I have encountered. The less information revealed, the safer we are.
Tatsumi, still trying to grasp the concept, nodded in understanding.
Tatsumi: So, keep it hush-hush. Got it.
Akame, however, remained skeptical.
Akame: You expect us to accept that without knowing more?
Yhwach: In time, you may understand the necessity of this discretion.
After a moment of contemplation, Akame reluctantly nodded.
Akame: Fine, for now. But if this secrecy puts any of us at risk, be prepared to explain yourself.
Yhwach: I appreciate your caution, Akame. Rest assured, my intentions align with our common goal.
Tatsumi, sensing the tension, attempted to lighten the mood.
Tatsumi: Well, let's focus on the dinner for now. We've got Koga Tuna, and I'm sure we can cook up something delicious!
Yhwach: Agreed. Tonight, let's enjoy the fruits of our labor.

Boss: Wow, so at the end of the day our little Tatsumi caught 2 whole fish while Yhwach got 17? Nice job Yhwach, Very Impressive!
Yhwach: It was a team effort. Tatsumi is still learning, and with time, he'll improve.
Boss: Anyway, Leone. What did you find out?
Leone: Here's the deal. The targets are Ogre of the Imperial Guard and Gamal the Oil Merchant. According to the client, Ogre has been accepting bribes from the Oil Merchant. So whenever he manages to get himself in trouble, Ogre finds a way to pin all of the blame on someone else. Her fiancé was a victim to this and he was sentenced to Death.
Leone: Welp, here it is. She paid it all up front.
She said placing a big bag of money on the table.
Tatsumi: I'm amazed she could give us this much.
Leone: She smelled sickly. I think she's been selling her body.
Boss: You sure she's not lying?
Leone: My senses haven't steered me wrong yet, Boss... He's guilty.
Yhwach: (in thought) The client's desperation is palpable. Selling one's body to ensure justice for a loved one speaks volumes about the corruption that plagues this nation.
Boss: Hmm, Then Night Raid accepts this assignment.
She said while lighting a cigar.
Boss: We don't need more garbage in this nation. We'll give them divine punishment.
Leone: We shouldn't have that much of a problem with The Oil Merchant, but I betcha Ogre'll be a pain in the ass. Ogre is a demon, He's very skilled with a sword, even the hitmen are afraid of him. And he's always surrounded by a huge number of subordinates, he's never seen alone. He's so careful that Gamal delivers all of his payments to his personal chambers. But on his days off he goes drinking on Main Street, right by the palace.
Tatsumi: Ok, sounds like we know when we'll have to strike.
Boss: But, that area is heavily guarded. We can't send Akame They already know what she looks like.
Leone: Helloooo, They don't have any wanted posters of me yet!.
Boss: Can you do it?
Leone: The stronger the enemy, the more I'm ready!
Akame: I think we should wait until the others are here.
Tatsumi: But at the moment, we don't know when they're coming back, am I right?
Akame nods.
Tatsumi: Fine, I say that we set out on the mission without 'em!
Boss: Oh? You think you're capable of getting Ogre by yourself?
Tatsumi: Huh?
Leone: Right, that was a good talk. You'll better take the responsability of your words.
Tatsumi: Eh!?
Akame: Now the job is yours.
Tatsumi: What do you mean!? I'm good with the sword-
Akame: I'm saying you won't be able to kill him.
Yhwach: Last time, your anger led you to kill. That doesn't mean you can take a life whenever you please.
Boss: Then it's settled. Tatsumi, Yhwach will go with you to help deal Ogre. And I'd like you two ladies to focus on the Oil Merchant.
Leone: You got it!
Akame: Understood.
Tatsumi: See Akame, I can help take care of business when push comes to shove.
Akame: I will withhold the judgement of your ability until you complete the mission and report back. If you begin with over-confidence and arrogance, you'll die.
She said, glaring at Tatsumi.
Tatsumi: (in thought) She'll change her tune, I'll just have to prove myself by killing Ogre by myself!
He thought.
After the meeting, Leone showed Tatsumi and Yhwach where they were going to kill Ogre.
Leone: This is Main Street. Did y'all mesmerize the map like I told ya?
Tatsumi: Yeah, yeah I got it.
Tatsumi: (in thought recalling Akame's words) "If you begin with over-confidence and arrogance, you will die."
Leone saw Tatsumi handing his head low in deep thought, Yhwach saw it too.
Leone: Tatsumi, Yhwach, I think I should tell both of you a few things about Akame's past.
She said which got Yhwach's and Tatsumi's attention.
Leone: When she was a little kid, she and her sister were sold to the Empire. They were placed in an assassin training camp with other abandoned kids. She learned how to survive the harsh surroundings as well as the art of murder. She grew up and assassin, blindly doing the Empire's dirty work. But as Akame got older, she started to see the darkness the Empire was hiding. One day she was sent to kill - The Boss, but it didn't happen. Somehow, she convinced her to join the Revolutionary Army, and join the side of the people. But, the time she could do it, most of the kids she grew up with were already dead. Do you see what I'm getting at Tatsumi?
Tatsumi: Yeah, yeah, she's a professional killer.
Yhwach: And there are aspects of life that a novice like you has yet to comprehend.
Leone: Well, If you manage to get through today with Yhwach, then you'll know a little more.
Yhwach: Step by step, Tatsumi. Never rush your goals.
When they were done talking, Leone meet up with Akame at night on the hunt for the Oil Merchant.
Yhwach: So, how do you plan to eliminate him?
He turned to me.
Tatsumi: Uh? W-Wait, you won't assist me!?
Yhwach: The Boss directed it to you. I'll merely prevent any interference.
Tatsumi: Eeeeeeh!?
It took some time for him to calm down, but we devised a plan.
We waited for the night, and Tatsumi led him into a deserted alley.
I stood at the entrance to deter anyone trying to intervene.
After a while, he returned.
Yhwach: I assume you succeeded.
Tatsumi: He put up a fight, but he's no longer a threat.
I knew it without him saying it. I could sense the blood on his hands.
We returned to the base and filed a report.
Boss: Well, congratulations on eliminating your target.
Tatsumi: Thanks!
Boss: Although I expected more collaboration from you.
Yhwach: You tasked Tatsumi with the kill. I decided to let him face it alone.
Boss: ...Fair enough.
Tatsumi: So what do you say, Akame? Mission accomplished, and the report's done. And I did it without a scratch! So come on, say yo-
In an instant, she removed his shirt. I just stared in shock.
Tatsumi: Eh? W-What the hell!? What are you doing!?
Akame: Leone, Boss, restrain him.
While saying that, she removed his trousers. He covered himself, blushing.
Tatsumi: Nooo!
Yhwach: ...Just...what's going on?
She scrutinized him from every angle.
Akame: Thank goodness.
She blushed.
Akame: I've seen people succumb to infection because they were too proud to reveal their wounds. I'm relieved you didn't get hurt. Most struggle to survive their initial mission. I'm glad you did.
She said, extending a hand for him to shake, but instead, he took her hand and embraced her, deepening her blush.
Tatsumi: T-Thanks...
Leone: She was tough on you because she didn't want you to perish.
Boss: Learning to cook aided in communication, and hunting taught you essential killing techniques. Did you not realize that everything we had you do had a specific purpose?
Tatsumi: Oh, I guess not.
He looked at Akame.
Tatsumi: I'm sorry, Akame. I misunderstood.
Akame: It's okay, just keep trying to come back alive, Tatsumi.
Tatsumi: Sure.
Boss: Good. From now on, both of you will be trained by Mine.
At those words, his face turned grim. I wasn't that thrilled either.
Tatsumi: ...With her!?
Yhwach: I foresee troubles...
Timeskip
Boss: How many intruders and where?
Lubbock: Judging by the reaction of my barrier, I'd say about eight. Their getting a little close to the hideout if you ask me!
Boss: If they were clever enough to sniff us out, we should assume that they're tribal assassins. Move quickly! Don't let them leave here alive!
Night Raid then ran their way to the location of the intruders. Akame gave the rest of the team a knowing look and they split up. Akame went by herself through the middle, Bulat, Yhwach, and Tatsumi went to the right, while the rest went to the left.
Bulat: You're still a little new to go up against a big group like this. So try to be careful! The first thing is to let your body get a good feel for the battlefield Tatsumi!
Tatsumi: Right!
Bulat: And the second thing is... Please either call me either "Handsome" or "Bro".
Yhwach: I'd rather not call you either.
Tatsumi: Understood, big bro!
Bulat: Great! What a nice feeling! As a reward, I'll show you something amazing!
He stopped, turning to us.
He placed his hand on the ground and made a serious face.
Bulat: Incursio!
Something substantial emerged from the ground behind him, and in a Instant, he adorned his armor.
Tatsumi: Wow, so cool!
Yhwach : (in thought) Examining it, that armor seemed peculiar. Almost... alive?, A Zanpakuto, perhaps?
Bulat: This is the Teigu Incursio.
Yhwach : (in thought) Teigu. That name again.
Tatsumi: I don't get it, but it looks so awesome!
Bulat: Oh, good, I see you recognize its greatness!
Yhwach, Tatsumi, and Bulat look around to see any intruders. Then they hear a noise up ahead.
Bulat: I feel them. Stay back and watch the power of this teigu.
Meanwhile with Mine, she was looking through the scope of her gun finding an assassin running away.
Mine: Well, he's made it pretty far, bummer I really don't like revealing my location.
She said while another assassin was behind her with a sword in his hands.
Assassin: You're mine!
But right as he was about to kill her, Sheele used her giant scissors and cut the assassin in half, instantly killing him.
Sheele: (in thought) I'm sorry
Mine: (in thought) Thank you, Sheele
Mine: Nice timing! That was just enough danger to power up!
She shot her gun at the assassin from far away. The assassin turned around but was instantly killed by the gun's power.
Mine: Sweet! Bull's-eye! The bigger the trouble I'm in, the more powerful my beautiful Pumpkin becomes!
Meanwhile with Tatsumi and Yhwach. Both of them looked back at Bulat, who was being surrounded by multiple assassins. The assassins all jumped at the same time to kill him, but he was too quick and used his spear to kill them all at incalculable speeds.
Tatsumi: He's... so strong. So this... this is the power... of Night Raid.
He said as he looked at Bulat while rain of blood was dropping on top of him.
Bulat deactivated his armor and the rest of the team arrived right beside him.
Bulat: You still alive, Tatsumi?
Tatsumi: Oh, yeah! I was just thinking about stuff.
Bulat: Then everything's fine, I can already tell you've got some talent!
He said while giving him a thumbs up.
Bulat: And Yhwach, You did really good yourself.
Yhwach: Thank you Bulat.

Tatsumi Pov
It was now night time, I was in my bed trying to sleep. But I couldn't, something was on my mind that I couldn't get rid of.
Tatsumi: (in thought) Man I really have found a crazy group of friends, huh?
I said as I went to sleep, but not even an hour later, I woke up from a 'horrific' nightmare.
I shutter from the thought.
Tatsumi: (in thought) Why did I dream of him of all people?!
I relaxed and looked at my sword at the thought of my dead friends.
(Flashback)
Sayo: The imperial capital!
She said, pointing at a spot in the middle of a map.
Ieyasu: There's a giant wall surrounding the whole city, and the canals are full of trading ships!
Tatsumi: There's so much to see!
Ieyasu: And don't forget all those sexy, sophisticated city women!
Sayo grew frustrated and punched Ieyasu in the face.
Sayo: Gross!
Ieyasu: Hey! What was that for?
He said as Tatsumi bursted out laughing.
(End of flashback)
Tatsumi: (in thought) Sayo... Ieyasu.... I'll do my best for you guys. I promise.
He thought as he went back to sleep.
