Chapter 35: Tea and Tensions: Yhwach's Encounter with General Esdeath
The Capital
Emperor: General Esdeath, for your success in conquering the northern tribe, we have arranged an award of 10,000 gold coins.
Esdeath: I am grateful, Your Highness.
She said this while kneeling before him.
Esdeath: I'll send it to the soldiers still fighting to protect our land. They will be pleased.
Minister: (in thought) Esdeath truly doesn't care for money or power. She is only concerned with war and victory. And as long as I'm in control, she can destroy whatever she wants. Our interests can coexist. She's the ideal puppet!
He thought to himself while eating a piece of steak.
Esdeath: Now that I've returned to the capital from the northlands, Your Majesty can once again rest at ease, and I shall be terminating Night Raid next.
Emperor: Quite an undertaking. We would like to compensate you for such an ambitious achievement with more than just money. Is there something else you'd prefer?
Esdeath: Actually, there is. If I could choose anything, I believe I'd like to try falling in love.
She said this, which made everyone gasp in shock.
Emperor: Uh, well... uh, yes, that sounds reasonable! You are a single woman of marriable age after all! I will serve as your matchmaker! So, what is your opinion of the minister here?
Minister: Huh? What, what?!
Esdeath: The minister does not take very good care of himself. He won't live much longer.
She stated it with a blank expression.
Minister: Preposterous! I'm in perfect health!
He said this while eating more meat.
Minister: Well, then, would you be so kind and tell us what you'd like?
Esdeath: First, let me warn you that I can be terribly selective. Very few men will come close to my expectations. Once I'm ready, I will present you with an extensive list of my preferences.
Night Raid Base
In the dining room, Mine and Akame were eating the food that was prepared for them by Yhwach and Tatsumi. Mine was still having trouble eating her food since she was still recovering from battle, so Akame decided to help her out. She grabbed her spoon and lifted up Mine's food in front of her for her to eat.
Mine: I don't need you to spoon-feed me!
Akame: But it will get cold.
Mine just stared at her blankly; she looked back at her food and then at Akame.
Mine: Fine, I guess you win.
Akame then started to spoon-feed mine like a baby. In the kitchen, Tatsumi and Yhwach were still preparing food for the rest of the gang. Tatsumi took a glance at Akame, who was still feeding Mine.
Tatsumi: Hey, Yhwach, why is Akame feeding Mine like a little child?
He said this as Yhwach looked over at the two.
Yhwach glanced at Akame and Mine before turning his attention back to Tatsumi.
Yhwach: Akame is just ensuring that Mine gets the nourishment she needs. She's still recovering from the battle, and it's important for her to regain her strength.
Tatsumi: Oh, I see. It just looked kind of, you know, unusual.
Yhwach: Each member of Night Raid has their own way of looking out for each other. It's what makes us a team.
As Yhwach continued to cook, Tatsumi couldn't help but be curious.
Tatsumi: Yhwach, you're quite skilled at cooking. Where did you learn to do this?
Yhwach: I've lived for a very long time, Tatsumi. Along the way, I've picked up various skills, including cooking. It's essential to be self-sufficient.
Tatsumi nodded, realizing that Yhwach's abilities and knowledge went beyond just combat.
Meanwhile, in the dining room, Mine finished her meal with Akame's help.
Mine: Thanks for the help, Akame. I can probably manage on my own now.
Akame: No problem. It's important to support each other.
Mine smirked.
Mine: You're acting more like a big sister than usual.
Akame's expression remained stoic.
Akame: I'm just making sure you stay healthy. That's all.
I chuckled, appreciating the concern.
Back in the kitchen, Tatsumi and Yhwach were almost done with the meal preparations. Leone and Sheele entered the room, engaging in a casual conversation.
Leone: So, Yhwach, how's the cooking going?
Yhwach: Almost finished. Tatsumi and I are handling it.
Meanwhile, in the capital
Esdeath and the Minister were taking a walk in the middle of the Capitol's front yard, under a walkthrough to another part of the building.
Esdeath: You know, it's strange. I don't normally take an interest in anything besides war and bloodshed.
Minister: Oh, we're talking about love, I presume?
Esdeath: I don't even understand this myself, but I'm feeling a desperate need for romance.
Minister: Desire for the opposite sex is something all living creatures feel. I don't know if I use the word 'romance' in your case.
Esdeath: It's interesting, yet it's still an animalistic instinct. But for the moment, I must channel all my energy into eliminating Night Raid.
Minister: Oh, and while we're on the subject, I've come up with a new idea that I think you'll like.
Timeskip
Esdeath was standing in front of three people who were bowing before her. They seem to be soldiers.
Esdeath: I have a special assignment for you, my precious Three Beasts.
???: We will do anything you command us to do, General Esdeath.
Said a man with gray hair, blue eyes, and a mustache.
??? 2: Yes, ma'am, all of us are your loyal and devoted servants forever!
He said a boy with light blond hair, golden eyes, a tail, and looks like a girl.
??? 3: No matter what you wish, we will carry out any order at any time.
Said a big man with very dark blond hair and white eyes.
Esdeath: Good.
Back at the Night Raid Base
Yhwach made his way towards the kitchen to make a late-night snack.
Tatsumi: So... cold...
Yhwach looked to his left and saw Tatsumi with his head hung low while walking down the hall with a blanket wrapped around him. He then looked up and saw Yhwach.
Tatsumi: Oh, hey, Yhwach.
Yhwach nodded in acknowledgment as Tatsumi approached.
Yhwach: Trouble sleeping?
Tatsumi: Yeah, it's really cold in my room.
Tatsumi trailing behind with his blanket draped over his shoulders.
Tatsumi: Mind if I join you for that late-night snack?
Yhwach: Help yourself.
Tatsumi followed Yhwach into the kitchen, and as Yhwach began preparing a simple snack
Yhwach moved with a quiet efficiency in the dimly lit kitchen, gathering ingredients for the late-night snack. The soft glow of the overhead lights created a serene atmosphere as he worked. Tatsumi, still wrapped in his blanket, leaned against the kitchen counter, watching Yhwach's culinary skills in action.
Yhwach: You seem to have a particular fondness for blankets.
Tatsumi chuckled, rubbing his arms to generate warmth.
Tatsumi: Yeah, it's like my personal shield against the cold.
Yhwach finished preparing the snack and plated it with a deliberate elegance. He handed a plate to Tatsumi.
Yhwach: Here, something warm to chase away the chill.
Tatsumi accepted the plate, grateful for the gesture.
They sat down at the kitchen table, savoring the warmth of the food and the comforting silence that enveloped them. The late-night snack served as a small refuge, a moment of respite from the challenges they faced.
As they finished their snacks, Yhwach stood up, a subtle nod indicating the end of the impromptu meal.
Yhwach: If the cold persists in your room, consider asking Leone for a warmer blanket. She has a knack for finding the coziest ones.
Tatsumi grinned.
Tatsumi: I'll keep that in mind. Thanks again, Yhwach.
Yhwach nodded, acknowledging the gratitude, and quietly left the kitchen.
Tatsumi Pov
I was going to stay in the kitchen for a bit to clear my thoughts. I sat down on a chair in the dining room. I was left with my thoughts for about 15 minutes until I saw Akame walk into the room, holding a plate with three snacks that looked like balls made of... sugar? I can't tell, but they were put on skewers.
Akame: You are up late.
She said this as she set down the plate on the table.
Tatsumi: So are you.
Akame took a seat across from me, her usual stoic expression unchanged.
Akame: Couldn't sleep?
Tatsumi: Nah, it's the cold. Yhwach suggested getting a warmer blanket from Leone.
Akame nodded in understanding.
Akame: Yhwach tends to offer practical solutions.
I picked up one of the snacks from the plate Akame brought.
Tatsumi: What are these?
Akame: I don't know, but it is Sheele's favorite snack to eat.
She said this as I nodded at her.
Tatsumi: They're really good, Akame. Thanks.
Akame: You're welcome.
We kept on talking for a little bit while we ate the snack; it was a nice chat. But a long silence fell on the room as we were finished with our snack. I looked at Akame, and she looked upset about something.
Akame: Tatsumi, can you promise me that you'll survive this hell, no matter what? And that you'll protect our friends, please?
She said as tears started to go down her cheeks.
Tatsumi: Akame, why are you asking me this? What's wrong?
I said this as I put my hand on hers and wiped away her tears.
Akame: Before you and Yhwach came here, I had... great friends that were killed while on this team. Most of them died right in front of me. They were either shot, cut in half, exploded, or took their own lives by their own hands. I never want to go through the pain of losing a friend again; no one does. So... promise me this... this one request... that you'll survive and protect our friends till the end.
She said this while hugging me tightly and crying her eyes out. I quickly wrapped my arms around her.
Tatsumi: Don't worry. I promise that I will protect everyone from whatever dangers may come.
I said as I parted from the hug.
Akame: These feelings will interfere in the next mission. That's why I pretend to be fine! We work in the shadows. If I can't proceed, what should I do? Is this...what you call 'stay composed'?
Tatsumi: I'll make a promise to you. I won't die! I'll never make you sad!
Yhwach was about to retire to his quarters when he overheard the conversation between Tatsumi and Akame in the dining room. He remained unseen, his presence masked in the shadows, silently observing.
Yhwach observed the emotional exchange between Tatsumi and Akame from the shadows, his expression unreadable.
Yhwach: (In thought) Tatsumi, your innocence endures, a trait that might prove to be both a strength and a weakness. The bonds forged in this team are intriguing, yet they carry the weight of inevitable challenges.
Yhwach, having overheard Tatsumi and Akame's conversation, slipped out of the Night Raid Base and found himself outside, staring up at the moonlit sky. The night was quiet, the air crisp, and the moon cast an ethereal glow upon the surroundings.
Yhwach: (In thought) Tatsumi, your commitment to protecting your friends is admirable. But in this world of shadows, promises can be as fragile as the moon's reflection on water.
As Yhwach gazed at the moon, a flicker of the Schrift H – the Heat – briefly manifested. The air around him seemed to shimmer for a moment, a testament to the immense power he possessed. However, Yhwach's expression remained stern and resolute.
Yhwach: (In thought) I've seen the ebb and flow of countless lives. Tatsumi... I won't let you die.
Timeskip
Yhwach Watches as Tatsumi and Akame are sparring. Tatsumi was doing pretty well he was keeping pace with Akame for a good 4 minutes, until he got hit on his left side by Akame's practice sword, knocking him out.
Tatsumi: One more round, ok?
Akame: Don't you think you could take a rest for a little bit first?
Tatsumi: I don't have time for that! Remember, we're pretending this is a real fight. So don't hold back!
Tatsumi charged at Akame, only to be punched in the face by Yhwach.
Tatsumi: OOOOWWWWW!!! WHAT THE HELL WAS THAT FOR?!?!
Yhwach: You need to learn to be more aware of your surroundings. In a real battle, your opponent won't wait for you to be ready.
Tatsumi rubbed his sore jaw, shooting Yhwach a disgruntled look.
Tatsumi: Yeah, yeah, I get it. Sneaky old man.
Yhwach simply smirked, his gaze shifting to Akame.
Yhwach: Akame, your technique is precise, as always. But don't underestimate Tatsumi's potential. He has room to grow.
Akame nodded in acknowledgment, her expression focused.
Akame: Understood.
Yhwach: Akame, mind if I join the spar?
Akame raised an eyebrow, surprised by the unexpected request.
Akame: You want to spar? Against who?
Yhwach: Bulat, if he's up for it.
Bulat: Ok, but just to warn you, I'm not gonna hold back!
He said as he tossed Yhwach a practice spear.
Yhwach caught the practice spear with ease, a confident smile on his face.
Yhwach: I wouldn't want you to hold back, Bulat. Let's make this a worthwhile spar.
Tatsumi, still nursing his sore jaw, watched with interest as Yhwach prepared to face Bulat.
Tatsumi: This should be interesting.
Akame stood aside, observing the impending clash between two formidable warriors.
Bulat: Get ready, Yhwach!
Bulat charged at Yhwach with an overhead hit, which he blocked, before using the bottom of the spear to strike him in the abdomen, which he also blocked. Yhwach proceeded to parry an attack, and Yhwach noticed that Bulat was going to push down on the spear more to keep Yhwach from doing so, but Yhwach drew back on his spear just a little bit, causing him to fall forward a little. Yhwach noticed an opening and struck him on the bottom of his left lung, knocking the wind out of him and throwing him back a few paces.
Bulat recovered quickly, impressed by Yhwach's skill. He grinned, acknowledging the strength of his opponent.
Bulat: Not bad, Yhwach. You've got some moves.
Yhwach: Likewise, Bulat. Your strength is commendable.
Yhwach and Bulat spared for the next 20 minutes, they decided to play a little game while they were at it. So they agreed that they would go to 100 hits. Obviously, Yhwach came out as the victor while Bulat couldn't get any hits on him.
Bulat: Wow, I sure did underestimate you.
He said while catching his breath.
Yhwach nodded in acknowledgment of Bulat's admission.
Yhwach: Your strength is considerable, Bulat. It's been an enjoyable spar.
Bulat: (smirking) I can see why you're one of the strongest among us. But I'll train harder and give you a better challenge next time.
Yhwach: I'll be looking forward to it.
As Bulat and Yhwach exchanged mutual respect, Tatsumi, who had been observing the spar with great interest, couldn't help but be amazed by the power displayed.
Tatsumi: Yhwach, you're on a whole different level. How did you get so strong?
Yhwach glanced at Tatsumi, a hint of mystery in his eyes.
Yhwach: Strength comes from experience, training, and a deep understanding of one's abilities. I've lived a long life, Tatsumi, and every moment has contributed to my growth.
Tatsumi nodded, absorbing Yhwach's words.
Tatsumi: I just want to improve faster. I promised Akame I would survive, no matter what!
Yhwach: (nodding) Your determination is admirable, Tatsumi. Survival is not just about physical strength it's also about adaptability and mental fortitude.
Tatsumi: (grinning) Well, you seem to have all of that in abundance. Any tips for a newcomer like me?
Yhwach: (smirking) Observation is key. Understand your opponents, anticipate their moves, and exploit their weaknesses. And most importantly, never underestimate the power of your allies.
Tatsumi: (nodding) Got it. I'll keep that in mind.
Timeskip
Boss: Now that everyone's here, I'm afraid I have some bad news. General Esdeath has taken out the northern tribe and has now returned to the Imperial Capital.
Everyone Excluding Yhwach and Tatsumi gasp in shock.
Yhwach, with a raised eyebrow, turned his attention to the boss.
Yhwach: General Esdeath? I don't recall encountering someone with that title during my time here. Who is she?
Boss: General Esdeath is a high-ranking officer in the Imperial Army, known for her formidable combat skills and ruthless tactics. She's considered one of the Empire's strongest assets.
Tatsumi, still relatively new to the team, looked puzzled.
Tatsumi: General Esdeath? I've never heard of her. What's her reputation?
Boss: She's a fearsome warrior, Tatsumi, with an ice-based Teigu that grants her powerful abilities. Her cruelty on the battlefield is unmatched, and she's a formidable adversary.
Yhwach: (thoughtfully) Ice-based Teigu... intriguing.
Boss: She's a disturbed psychopath obsessed with killing. Don't be careless.
Boss: Leone, Yhwach, I would like you both to make your way to the Imperial Capital and figure out what General Esdeath is up to.
Leone: You got it! I've been wanting to know what this chick is like!
She said while saluting like a soldier.
Yhwach: Very well. I shall accompany Leone to the Imperial Capital.
Leone: Yep, we've got this.
She said as she grew a smirk on her face.
Leone: ( In Thought) That means I can waste her if I get the chance, doesn't it? I heard that wackjob is the strongest person in the Empire, That puts her right up their with The Minister on our hit list!
She thought to herself as the Boss lit up a cigarette.
Boss: Also, ever since her arrival in the Capital, there's been an increase of assassinations of the imperial officials. As of today, 4 officers and 61 bodyguards have been murdered. What concerns me is these flyers they've been scattering around that claim that Night Raid is responsible for their homicides.
She said as she pulled out one of the flyers.
Bulat: So, they're trying to stick the whole thing on us, huh?
Tatsumi: But doesn't this stuff always get straightened out? Those posters don't look all that legit.
Boss: That's how most people felt about it at first. But now, public opinion is starting to change.
Yhwach: What's the cause of this?
Boss: We don't know, All we know is that every one the victims had first-rate guards when the crimes were committed. They couldn't have been overpowered by ordinary thugs.
Akame: That would only mean us...
Boss: It's safe to assume two things: They probably have Teigus, and they're working for General Esdeath.
Tatsumi: What is she trying to accomplish?
Bulat: She wants to lure us out in the open so she can strike.
Boss: Now that we know it's a trap, I want to throw one more thing out there, the people that they're assassinating are all competent individuals who disagree with the Minister's policies and recognize the need for a revolution. After we create a new nation, allies like them will be crucial to its success. To put it simply We cannot afford to continue losing them. I'd like to hear everyone's thoughts.
Tatsumi: ...Listen, I don't know much about this political stuff, but the idea of somebody using Night Raid's name like that really pisses me off!
Bulat: Tatsumi, you know, you're exactly right.
Boss: Good! That's settles it! Show those bastards what happens when they use our name. Night Raid will not be sullied. There are two of us they will probably target next, Akame and Lubbock. Tatsumi and Bulat, you will guard the person I assign you to.
Mine: WAIT!!! What am I gonna do?!
Boss: you will be taking care of Sheele since she's still recovering, I need to go shopping for more food.
She said while putting her jacket on and putting the hood over her head.
Mine: Aw, man! That's so lame!
Tatsumi: Alright, it seems like we're all set! Just tell me and Bulat who were guarding and we'll be on our way
Boss: Your charge will be boarding a cruise ship currently docked at the grand canal near the Imperial Capital.... The Ryusen!
Timeskip
Tatsumi: ( In thought ) HOLY SHIT, THAT'S A BIG FUCKING BOAT!!!! HOW IN THE HELL WERE THEY ABLE TO BUILD SOMETHING LIKE THIS!!! IT'S A FORTRESS ON WATER FOR FUCKS SAKE.
He thought as he stood in front of the massive ship.
With Lubbock and Akame
Lubbock: Rice reserves, huh? Must be pretty smart.
He said while looking over a small village in the trees.
Akame: All that rice will make a lot of people happy.
She said while her stomach grumbled.
Akame: I guess I made myself hungry by looking at it.
Lubbock: Ugh! You can have my rations if you take out any enemies that pop up. We got a deal?
He said as he pulled out a ration and Akame bit it straight out of his hand.
Lubbock: Alright, no action here. Looks like we completely missed the mark this time.
He said while pulling on a metal string.
Akame: Don't let you guard down yet.
She said while eating a ration.
Lubbock: I know, I won't.
Akame: ( In thought) Yhwach.... you're going with Leone to spy on General Esdeath. She's unpredictable and dangerous.... So please.... please be careful!
She thought to herself as she looked up to the sky.
Meanwhile
Yhwach and Leone were sitting on top of a building, waiting for General Esdeath to show up.
Leone: Just how long is this going to take?
Leone said while lying down on the roof shingles.
Yhwach: Patience is a virtue, Leone.
Leone pointed at someone sitting down on a bench.
Yhwach stood up from his position on the rooftop, a confident smile on his face.
Yhwach: I'll go grab some tea. You can join me if you want, Leone.
Leone: Are you crazy? We're on a mission, Yhwach!
She grumbled, still lying down with her arms crossed.
Yhwach: We've been waiting for a while. A small break won't hurt. Besides, it's essential to stay alert and focused during a mission.
Leone sighed in resignation.
Leone: Fine, but don't take too long. Here's some money for your precious tea.
She tossed a small pouch of money towards Yhwach, who caught it effortlessly.
Yhwach: Thank you, Leone. I'll be back shortly.
Yhwach descended from the rooftop and made his way through the bustling streets of the Imperial Capital. As he walked, he couldn't help but appreciate the liveliness of the city, contrasting with the seriousness of their mission.
Entering an ice cream store that surprisingly also served tea, Yhwach ordered a cup of his preferred blend. He then decided to indulge himself further by getting an ice cream cone as well.
With tea and ice cream in hand, Yhwach found an empty seat in a quiet corner of the shop. As he sipped his tea and savored the ice cream, he observed the people passing by, the conversations, and the everyday life of the capital.
???: Excuse me, is this seat taken?
Yhwach looked up to see a young woman standing in front of him.
Yhwach: Not at all. Please, have a seat.
???: Don't mind if I do.
And then Yhwach felt it. A tremendous murderous instinct. Yhwach stopped drinking.
Yhwach turned to the woman. She had long azure hair and azure eyes. She wore a white and black navy uniform, along with the hat.
Yhwach: ( In thought ) Despite her apparent ease, there's an unmistakable tension emanating from her presence.
The shopper brought her some ice cream. Yhwach kept drinking his tea, but without leaving his guard out.
???: Excuse me but, I don't think I've seen you around here before.
She said
Yhwach took a moment to observe the woman. Despite her friendly demeanor, he could sense an underlying intensity in her gaze, a quality that hinted at her prowess as a warrior.
Yhwach: I'm just passing through the city. Enjoying some tea and ice cream.
The woman chuckled, a faint smile playing on her lips.
???: A man of refined taste, I see. I'm General Esdeath, by the way. And you are?
Yhwach remained composed, acknowledging her introduction.
Yhwach: Yhwach. Pleasure to make your acquaintance, General Esdeath.
Esdeath's azure eyes glinted with a spark of interest.
Esdeath: Yhwach, you say? An unusual name. Tell me, Yhwach, what brings you to the Imperial Capital?
Yhwach: Just wandering, experiencing the city's vibrant atmosphere. You could say I have a penchant for exploration.
Esdeath leaned back in her chair, studying Yhwach with a scrutinizing gaze.
Esdeath: ( In thought ) His aura is different than the others. It's more darker and scarier. This is getting interesting.
She thought to herself as the man gave Yhwach his order.
Esdeath: So... you must not know how things work around here?
Yhwach raised an eyebrow, intrigued by Esdeath's question.
Yhwach: Enlighten me, General Esdeath. I'm always open to learning.
Esdeath's smile widened slightly as she took a bite of her ice cream.
Esdeath: In the Imperial Capital, strength and power dictate everything. It's a world where the weak perish and the strong thrive. As a general of the Imperial Army, I embody that strength.
Esdeath: How long will you keep your stance?
Yhwach: What do you mean?
Esdeath: Do you really think I didn't notice you're on the defensive?
Yhwach remained calm, his expression unwavering. He set down his teacup and gazed directly into Esdeath's azure eyes.
Yhwach: General Esdeath, I've learned that caution is a virtue, especially in a city where strength holds such significance. It seems you're well-acquainted with the dynamics of this place.
Esdeath leaned forward, her eyes locking onto Yhwach's.
Esdeath: You're perceptive. Not many people can sense the undercurrents of power as keenly as you seem to.
Yhwach: It comes with experience.
Esdeath's smile widened as she continued to enjoy her ice cream.
Esdeath: Experience is valuable, but so is the ability to adapt. The Imperial Capital is a place where even the most unexpected can happen.
Yhwach: Indeed, adaptability is a crucial skill.
Esdeath: You seem to have a presence about you, Yhwach. A strength that goes beyond the ordinary.
Yhwach: ( In thought ) She's trying to gauge my abilities. Her observation skills are sharp.
Esdeath: What brings someone like you to our city? Are you looking for something, or perhaps someone?
Yhwach: A wanderer seeks many things, General. Sometimes, it's knowledge, sometimes it's purpose. As for someone, I believe everyone I encounter leaves a mark in their own way.
Esdeath chuckled, finding amusement in Yhwach's response.
Esdeath: You speak in riddles, Yhwach. But I suppose that's part of the charm.
Yhwach: ( In thought ) She's testing the waters. Trying to understand the extent of my capabilities and intentions. I must tread carefully.
Esdeath: Tell me, Yhwach, have you ever considered aligning yourself with a force that truly appreciates strength? The Imperial Army could benefit from someone of your caliber.
Yhwach: I appreciate the offer, General Esdeath. However, I find myself drawn to the ebb and flow of the world, exploring its intricacies without tying myself to a single entity.
Esdeath's eyes gleamed with a mixture of curiosity and challenge.
Esdeath: A free spirit, then. I wonder how long you'll remain untouched by the currents of power that shape this city.
Yhwach: Only time will reveal that, General Esdeath.
Esdeath finished her ice cream, setting aside the empty cone. She stood up, a predatory glint in her eyes.
Esdeath: It was a pleasure meeting you, Yhwach. Should you ever decide to take a more active role in the affairs of the Imperial Capital, remember that strength is always welcomed.
With that, Esdeath strolled away, leaving Yhwach alone at the table.
Leone: ( In thought ) YHWACH!!! HOW IN THE HELL ARE YOU NOT DEAD YET?!?! SHE WOULD HAVE KILLED YOU ON THE SPOT JUST FOR TALKING TO HER!!! YOU ARE ONE LUCKY SON OF A BITCH!!!
She thought to herself as she was watching the whole thing.
Leone: WHAT THE HELL WERE YOU THINKING?!?! THIS WAS NOT PART OF THE MISSION!!! WE WERE SUPPOSED TO SPY ON HER AND FIGURE OUT WHAT HER PLANS WERE, NOT HAVE A LOVELY CHAT!!!
Meanwhile, Yhwach calmly sipped the last remnants of his tea, seemingly unfazed by the encounter. As Esdeath walked away, he glanced in Leone's direction, acknowledging her disapproval with a subtle nod.
Leone: (yelling) Yhwach! Are you trying to get us killed?!
She jumped down from the rooftop and landed next to him.
Leone: We were supposed to gather information, not make small talk with a psychopath!
Yhwach calmly set down the empty teacup and turned to Leone, his expression still composed.
Yhwach: General Esdeath is indeed a formidable opponent, but every encounter is an opportunity to learn. We need to understand our adversaries, Leone.
Leone crossed her arms, still irritated.
Leone: Well, next time, try understanding them from a distance, without risking your life.
Yhwach smirked, his eyes gleaming with confidence.
Yhwach: I appreciate your concern, Leone, but sometimes, a direct approach can yield valuable insights.
Leone sighed, realizing that arguing with Yhwach about his unconventional methods might be futile.
Leone: Just promise me you won't pull something like this again without informing me first.
Yhwach nodded in agreement.
Yhwach: You have my word, Leon-
Suddently, Yhwach senses something wrong, Yhwach unconsciously turned to the sea.
Where Tatsumi and Bulat were doing their mission.
Yhwach: Leone... Tatsumi needs my help. Go back to the base and wait for us there.
Leone: Ok!
She said as she bolted towards the base.
Yhwach focused his spiritual pressure, attempting to locate Tatsumi and Bulat. However, the intensity of the situation seemed to disrupt his senses, making it challenging to pinpoint their exact location. Determined to reach them swiftly, Yhwach decided to utilize Hirenkyaku, a high-speed movement technique.
With a burst of energy, Yhwach propelled himself into the air, soaring above the cityscape. The dim moonlight reflected off his silhouette as he moved with unparalleled speed. The streets and buildings blurred beneath him as he closed the distance between himself and the unfolding situation.
As Yhwach rushed toward the sea, a sense of urgency gripped him. He could feel an unsettling disturbance in the air, and a foreboding presence lingered on the edge of his senses.
Arriving at the shore, Yhwach scanned the area, his eyes sharp and focused. He saw Tatsumi and Bulat engaged in a fierce battle with a group of assailants. The attackers, wielding Teigus, seemed well-coordinated and relentless.
Yhwach: (In thought) Tatsumi, Bulat, they're not ordinary foes. Their combat prowess and Teigus suggest a higher level of threat.
As Yhwach approached the location where Tatsumi and Bulat were on guard duty, he noticed a sense of urgency in the air. The clash of blades and the echoes of battle reached his ears, prompting him to accelerate even further.
In an instant, Yhwach descended upon the scene, landing with unparalleled grace. His eyes scanned the surroundings, assessing the situation. Tatsumi and Bulat were engaged in combat against a group of assailants, and the intensity of the confrontation was evident.
Yhwach: (thoughtfully) It seems I've arrived just in time.
