Chapter 96: A Rising Rebellion: The Threat of the Higher-Ups
It wasn't surprising at all that Maki managed to catch up with Megumi in no time due to her superior speed.
Something seemed off about him though. Was it the way he frowned as he realized that his plan may have not worked out the way he thought it would?
Maki: Did you see the curtain that was just activated earlier? Did someone deactivate it? An intruder maybe?
Megumi took longer to reply. He might've been focused on the possibility of a different outcome than he thought happened between Zaegar and Divine General Mahoraga.
Megumi: Nothing makes any sense. Why would someone activate a curtain and then deactivate it right after? To stir up a little fear?
Megumi asked.
Maki: It's possible that Zaegar might've found his way back sooner and did something with the curtain. Do you think he was responsible?
Megumi: I don't even know anymore. I'll just see how this all plays out, and hopefully, it makes sense in the end.
Megumi said.
They continued running together until they saw Todo and Yuji battling against a cursed spirit.
Maki and Megumi quickly took cover behind a tree, planning when to hop in and join the fight.
Before Maki could make a move first, Megumi grabbed her wrist.
Megumi: WAIT...what if that thing expands its Domain? Do we really want to get into that? If it does, wouldn't it be better for us to attack from the outside?
Megumi asked. Maki shook his hand off.
Maki: And stand here like a bunch of lunatics and watch it activate? That curse is outnumbered. Plus, if it is capable of activating a Domain, we have you...unless...you're not confident enough.
Megumi turned his face in shame.
Maki didn't have time for this.
Maki: If you're going to stand on the sidelines, at least give me Playful Cloud. It could do a lot of damage if Todo or Yuji uses it, although, I barely trust them with any cursed tools.
Maki said.
Megumi quickly took out Playful Cloud and gave it to Maki.
She turned around and sprinted towards the battle.
Megumi: (In thought) Nobara and Inumaki were taken down. Did this thing really resist Inumaki's cursed speech then? It has to be Special Grade...we might be screwed unless Gojo-sensei or Yhwach-sensei show up.
Scene Break
Panda was sprinting towards the campus with Zaegar on his head.
Panda: I don't see Nobara, Inumaki, Megumi—I don't see any of the Kyoto Students either.
Panda said.
Zaegar glanced around, his eyes scanning the area as Panda carried him toward the campus. He scratched his chin thoughtfully before responding.
Zaegar: Well, that's quite the pickle, isn't it? Looks like things are getting even more interesting. But hey, don't worry too much, Panda. With me around, things are bound to get a lot more chaotic before they settle down.
He grinned mischievously, clearly relishing the prospect of more excitement.
Zaegar: Besides, if there's trouble brewing, it's the perfect opportunity for me to stretch my wings and show off a little. Who knows? Maybe I'll even find someone interesting to spar with along the way.
As they were traveling, they heard another sound ahead of them. Maybe Panda was right when it came to directions.
Panda ran a little faster and came in contact with a cursed spirit—half of its upper body already gone...
Zaegar: Oh, a corpse.
Zaegar said as he quickly got up from Panda and farted on the cursed spirit so hard that he completely destroyed it.
For Panda, it took him a while to process what had actually happened because of how fast it happened, and Zaegar's fart was so loud that he had to cover his ears to prevent the effects of the aftermath.
As the cursed spirit withered away into ash, Zaegar stood triumphantly, his tail swaying with satisfaction. However, before he could revel in his victory for too long, a familiar voice sounded from behind him.
Gojo: Back already? Wait...what happened to the cursed spirit?
Gojo inquired, his eyes narrowing slightly.
Zaegar chuckled, scratching the back of his head sheepishly.
Zaegar: Well, you see, it's a funny story. I might have, uh, accidentally unleashed a little...uh, fart, and poof! The spirit turned to ash.
Gojo: ...seriously?
Zaegar: Yup.
Gojo: Well, now that you've exorcised it, we've got to go get the other Kyoto Students.
Gojo said.
As he was walking, Zaegar still had something to say. Panda was silent.
Zaegar: You still owe me food. You also owe me my special privileges back. you fucking albino-haired bitch!
Gojo: Special privileges? Oh, I never took them away in the first place. I was just bluffing when I told you I revoked them.
Gojo said, smiling.
Zaegar's expression darkened.
Zaegar: YOU MOTHERFUCKING WHI-
Timeskip - A week later, Tokyo Prefectural Jujutsu High School
Gojo, Yhwach, Utahime, Yaga, Mei Mei, and Gakuganji sat in a tatami room. It was now the afternoon and they knew that having this meeting together after the Goodwill Event was crucial. The Kyoto Students decided to stay for a little and recover before going back to their own school, and the Tokyo students were also recovering by normal means.
Gojo was reminded by Yhwach to get Zaegar his food and he managed to do it before the meeting started. What annoyed Gojo the most was that Zaegar never allowed him a moment of rest or relaxation, always finding some reason to bully him.
Utahime was the first one to break the silence after they spoke a little.
Utahime: We still have no clue what the sorcerer's name that we restrained is, but we do know that he was planning this attack with a Special Grade cursed spirit, that Zaegar helped kill, and another culprit, who we don't know if they are a cursed spirit or a sorcerer. Now, this is what the culprit did to the guards before they took the finger.
Utahime passed around photos that displayed the bodies of the guards. In each of these photos, the bodies looked abnormal—almost cartoonish, but in a freaky way.
Utahime: Have any idea what this cursed technique could've been? The sorcerer wouldn't tell us, and he only said that he was involved with a person who had blue hair.
Utahime asked Gojo.
Gojo seemed unfazed by this set of information, but he still had something to say.
Gojo: The one who stole the fingers might've been a cursed spirit. Based on the bodies, this looks like a relatively new technique...also, whoever did this has to be the same person who murdered those kids in the Cinema in Kawasaki City. It almost looked like they were being mutated into something that looked like a cursed spirit, but the process stopped halfway...
Gojo said.
Yaga: Yhwach, I remember you told me about the one sorcerer and two cursed spirits that You had seen in Sendai City the day before Zaegar became a student here. You told me the sorcerer had black hair, so we know that the sorcerer we captured wasn't the one you and Zaegar met in the restaurant. and the other cursed spirits, but none of them that he described had blue hair or looked like a junkie, like Junpei described. You described a buff cursed spirit, which Zaegar killed
Yaga stated.
Yhwach nodded thoughtfully, absorbing the information as he stroked his chin.
Yhwach: (In Thought) It's clear that we're dealing with multiple parties here, each with their own agendas. The question remains: who is pulling the strings behind all of this?
Gojo: So before the attack, we can presume that there were at least five culprits involved. Now, there are at least four, and based on what happened at the event, their main goal must be to bring back Sukuna, which baffles me. Also, Yuji and I saw the cursed spirit with one eye a while ago—based on the fight, I would definitely say it was a Special Grade.
Gojo said.
Gakuganji: You're telling me that we put our students' lives at risk because we decided not to solve the problem with Sukuna? If Yuji were dead then...
Gakuganji stopped talking—everyone's eyes were on him now.
Gojo: Yuji is one of the only humans in centuries who managed to control Sukuna. Even if they're trying to lure Yuji into their trap, who's to say that the culprits won't feed the fingers to someone else who could have the same talent?
Gojo asked.
Mei Mei: When did Zaegar and Yhwach arrive again?
She asked.
Gojo: The exact moment that Yuji ate one of the fingers...
Gojo said.
Yaga frowned and turned his attention to Yhwach.
Yaga: Wait, could he and Zaegar be a culprit too? He has zero cursed energ-
Before Yaga could continue his sentence someone knocked on the door.
Yaga: Who is it?
Yaga asked.
But the person didn't answer, they just quickly broke the door, flying there with a controller in their hands—Zaegar.
Zaegar: Oi Yhwach do you have a charger my controller's dead.
Yhwach looks at Zaegar from across his book and shakes his head.
Yhwach: No.
Zaegar: Useless old man what about the rest of you stinky bitches do you idiots have a charger?
The room fell into stunned silence as Zaegar barged in with his usual irreverence, demanding a charger for his dead controller. Gojo pinched the bridge of his nose, already feeling a headache coming on.
Gojo: Zaegar, this is not the time for your nonsense. We're in the middle of an important meeting.
Zaegar rolled his eyes, unfazed by Gojo's admonishment.
Zaegar: Yeah, yeah, I heard all that boring talk from outside. But my game's on pause, and I need to finish this level before dinner.
He glanced around the room, noticing the tense atmosphere and the scrutinizing gazes directed at him.
Zaegar: What? You guys act like you've never seen a dragon playing video games before.
Utahime: Forget that, we have a question for you, come, sit...
Utahime commanded.
Utahime's authoritative tone caught Zaegar off guard, and he blinked in surprise at her command. Glancing around the room, he noticed the serious expressions on everyone's faces, and he begrudgingly took a seat, albeit with a scowl.
Zaegar: Fine, fine. But make it quick. I've got a game to finish.
Utahime ignored his attitude and continued with her inquiry.
Utahime: Zaegar, we need your input on the recent events. You've been involved in some crucial moments, and your perspective could be valuable.
Zaegar huffed impatiently, tapping his foot on the floor.
Zaegar: Look, bitch, I'm not really into this whole "solving mysteries" thing. I'm just here for the food and a good fight. So unless you've got something important to say, I suggest you cut to the chase.
Utahime maintained her composure, unfazed by Zaegar's dismissive attitude.
Utahime: Very well, Zaegar. Let me be direct then. Do you have any information that could help us identify the individuals behind these attacks?
Zaegar's expression darkened, and he leaned back in his seat, crossing his arms over his chest.
Zaegar: Information, huh? Well, let me think... Nope, can't say I do. Haven't seen anything or anyone out of the ordinary, except for the occasional cursed spirit trying to pick a fight.
He glanced around the room, meeting each person's gaze with a challenging stare.
Zaegar: So unless you bitches got a charger for my controller, just say so. I've wasted enough time here.
Without waiting for a response, Zaegar disappeared from the room.
Mei Mei's phone was ringing.
Mei Mei: Big Ui Ui is calling. I'll keep in touch again later.
Mei Mei left the room.
Now, only Yaga, Yhwach, Gakuganji, Utahime, and Gojo were conversing.
Gojo: I think I might have a lead: Junpei Yoshino. However, I can't really do anything. He has a guardian.
Gojo started.
Yaga: How about talking with the Higher Ups? It's not like his guardian can argue against the entire Jujutsu Society. Also, the Higher Ups might bring up Zaegar as well. After all, look what he almost did to the continent. They're accidents and floods happening all over because of his fight. Would that mean that Megumi would be taking the blame for summoning the Shikigami?
Yaga asked.
Gojo: I'm not sure, but I know that this meeting is set. Plus, now that Megumi has tamed Mahoraga, he can also be considered a powerhouse just like Zaegar.
Gojo didn't say else. Gojo's phone was ringing. He looked at who was calling him: it was Yuta.
Gojo: We'll talk later.
Gojo left the room answering his phone.
Utahime didn't have anything else to say. She got up and left first, then, Gakuganji had something to say to Yhwach.
Gakuganji: I was wrong about Zaegar...but my opinion on Yuji stays the same...
Gakuganji grunted.
Yhwach rose from his seat with a measured grace, his gaze meeting Gakuganji's with a calm intensity.
Yhwach: Opinions may change with time and new revelations, Gakuganji. It is the nature of knowledge to evolve as we gain deeper understanding. However, it is crucial that we remain open to the possibility of growth and change. Yuji Itadori has already proven himself, and dismissing his potential based on past judgments would be unwise.
With that, Yhwach turned towards the door, As he exited the room, his thoughts momentarily turned inward, where Ginjo's voice echoed with a hint of amusement.
Ginjo: (Within Yhwach's mind) You always did have a way with words, old man. But let's be real, sometimes you sound like you're giving a sermon instead of having a conversation. Lighten up a bit, will ya? Life's too short for all that serious stuff.
Scene Break - Yhwach's Dorm
Zaegar is playing video games with Ophis next to him. He had managed to find the charger for the controller after all. it was in the corner of the room...
Zaegar glanced over at Ophis, noticing her eager expression as she watched him play. With a playful grin, he reached over and handed her the controller, his tail swaying lazily behind him.
Zaegar: You wanna give it a try, Ophis? I promise I won't go easy on you.
Ophis accepted the controller with a smirk, her eyes lighting up with excitement.
Ophis: Challenge accepted, Zaegar. Let's see if you can keep up with me.
Timeskip
Zaegar: This is bullshit how the fuck did you even win you haven't even played a single video game in your entire fucking endless life.
Zaegar keeps shaking Ophis.
Zaegar: Tell me bitch!
Ophis, unfazed by Zaegar's outburst, simply smirked and tilted her head slightly, her eyes glinting with amusement.
Ophis: Oh, Zaegar, you really are entertaining when you're frustrated. But let me remind you, I may not have played video games before, but I am the Dragon God, after all. It's only natural that I excel at everything I try.
She gently pushed Zaegar's hands away, her expression remaining calm and composed despite his agitation.
Zaegar: Fine, fine, you win this round, Ophis. But don't get too cocky. I'll be back to reclaim my title as the gaming champion before you know it.
Just as Ophis was about to respond, a knock echoed through the room, interrupting their banter. Zaegar let out an exasperated sigh, reluctantly tearing his attention away from the game.
Zaegar: Ugh, who could that be now?
He grumbled to himself as he rose from his seat, padding over to the door with heavy steps. With a flick of his tail, he swung it open, revealing a familiar face standing on the other side.
Zaegar: What do you want bitch?
Megumi: Hey, I just wanted to thank you for what you di-
Before Megumi could finish his sentence, Zaegar waved him off dismissively, already losing interest.
Zaegar: Not now, Megumi. Can't you see I'm busy? Catch me later.
With that, he shut the door in Megumi's face, letting out a frustrated sigh. As he turned back to the room, he noticed Ophis had disappeared.
Zaegar: (In thought) Dammit...
Before Zaegar could continue, Megumi opened the door and walked in.
Megumi: Listen, Zaegar. I'm just here to apologize and tell you that I shouldn't have put your life on the line like that.
Zaegar didn't really care. Megumi's pet was only fun for a little while, then it got really boring afterward.
Zaegar: Hmmm...sure. I'm always willing to teach a pet a lesson...
Megumi looked surprised.
Megumi: You consider that a pet?
Zaegar: Yeah, it's your fucking pet, isn't it? Have you tamed it or something?
Megumi: I guess you can view it that way...
As Megumi moved to sit next to Zaegar, the dragon's tail suddenly swelled in size, knocking Megumi off balance and sending him stumbling backward.
Zaegar: Sorry, Megumi, but I've got a game with Noobmaster69. Can't waste any more time on you.
With a dismissive flick of his tail, Zaegar propelled Megumi out of the room and swiftly shut the door behind him. He returned to his game.
Zaegar: Alright, Noobmaster69, let's see what you've got this time. Prepare to get clapped.
Scene Break - Outside of Yhwach's Dorm
Yhwach walked over to his dorm room, his attention still focused on the book he was reading. As he approached the door, Ginjo's voice echoed within his mind.
Ginjo: (Within Yhwach's mind) Hey, Yhwach, you might want to take a look next to you.
Yhwach glanced to his side, momentarily shifting his focus away from the book. What he saw next made him pause mid-step. There, next to him, was a Megumi-sized crater in the wall, with Megumi lying unconscious at the center of it.
Yhwach: This is probably Zaegar's doing.
Ginjo's voice chimed in with a chuckle.
Ginjo: (Within Yhwach's mind) Oh, it's definitely Zaegar. One hundred percent.
Scene Break
Gojo: Remember, you're coming with me on the trip. Due to your aid in helping Megumi tame Mahoraga, I shouldn't have to worry too much about what will happen to the other two if they get assigned on missions while we're gone. You got that, Zaegar?
Gojo asked.
Zaegar was a little slumped. Maybe he needed to be a bit more active instead of grinding video games. He stopped dozing off while flying and nodded to what Gojo said.
Zaegar: Oi, albino, what about Yhwach? Can't I just go with him instead?
Gojo shook his head, his expression firm.
Gojo: No, Zaegar. Yhwach has a different mission to attend to, and I need you with me. Besides, I trust you'll behave yourself while we're away.
Zaegar let out an exaggerated sigh, rolling his eyes.
Zaegar: Fine, whatever. But don't expect me to babysit anyone while we're out there. I've got better things to do than watch over a bunch of amateurs.
Gojo raised an eyebrow, unimpressed by Zaegar's attitude.
Gojo: By the way Mei Mei wanted to give you her contact. Although, I doubt you'll need it.
Gojo replied, giving Zaegar the card.
Zaegar took the card from Gojo's hand, examining it with mild interest. Without warning, he suddenly popped the card into his mouth, chewing on it for a moment before promptly spitting it back out onto the ground.
Zaegar: Disgusting. Tastes worse than that cursed spirit I fried last week.
Gojo sighed, shaking his head at Zaegar's antics.
Gojo: You never fail to amaze me, Zaegar. Anyway, let's focus on the mission at hand. We leave at dawn tomorrow, so make sure you're ready.
Zaegar grunted in acknowledgment, his mind already wandering back to thoughts of his interrupted gaming session.
Zaegar broke the door to go outside. When he got outside, he saw Nobara, Yuji, and Todo conversing underneath a gazebo.
Zaegar was about to turn back and walk inside because he didn't feel like talking to them, but one of them called him over. It had to have been the buff guy Todo.
Todo: Where do you think you're going? You know, you still haven't accepted our fight, Custom Grade.
Zaegar: My name's Zaegar, but I can't complain, I have terrible memories too remembering losers.
Todo smiled.
Todo: I don't think you understand. My brother Yuji here hasn't fought you yet, and you're stronger than the both of us. Could you at least be polite and have Yuji battle you?
Todo asked.
What he said was absurd, almost hiding the fact that he was oblivious to what Zaegar did during the Goodwill Event, but Todo knew well that Zaegar would easily take over Yuji, however, he was convinced that Yuji's potential was the same as Zaegar's. It could be. Who's to say that Yuji will have a limit in his growth? Not Zaegar for sure.
Nobara takes a sip from her drink.
Nobara: Boys will be boys.
As Nobara strolled to the door that led back inside.
Yuji You don't want to watch us fight?
Yuji asked.
Nobara: Negative, snot-noggin, I'd rather go shopping than watch you wrestle. But I'm still too lazy, so I might check up on the others instead.
Nobara replied.
They were supposed to be recovering after all, but Yuji and Todo were on a different level of strength than the others, so it's not like they couldn't let out a bit more energy after the event.
She then went inside and shut the door.
Yuji and Todo cracked their knuckles as Zaegar grinned.
Zaegar casually reached behind him, pulling out a scroll from seemingly nowhere with a mischievous grin. As he unfurled it, revealing its contents, he glanced at Yuji and Todo with a playful glint in his eyes.
Zaegar: Well, well, well, looks like we're about to have some fun. But hey, just a heads up, you might want to have an ambulance on speed dial. Not for me, of course, but for you two once I'm done with you.
Scene Break
Following the successful completion of his mission, Yhwach found himself drawn away by a powerful energy signature nearby. Intrigued, he couldn't resist the urge to investigate further.
He noticed a horde of cursed spirits—roughly around four thousand—had surrounded him.
However, there was a distinctly powerful being among them hovering nearby that caught Yhwach's attention; he appeared to be a young man with matching cyan hair and eyes, along with little zig-zag symbols at the corner of his eyes.
The curses surrounding the Quincy king slowly approached him, and Yhwach smirked. He was going to have some fun after all...
Ginjo's voice echoed within Yhwach's mind, his tone filled with anticipation and excitement as he offered his suggestion.
Ginjo: (Within Yhwach's mind) Hey, Yhwach, remember when we read the Bleach manga together? You've got enough spiritual pressure to wipe out those cursed spirits without breaking a sweat. Why not show them what a true king can do?
Yhwach's smirk widened as he considered Ginjo's words.
Yhwach: (Mental Link) Ah, excellent suggestion, Ginjo. I was just about to do that.
With a faint smirk, Yhwach released a surge of immense spiritual pressure which immediately exorcised all of the curses present, immensely surprising this Cyan-haired warrior.
Yhwach: You sought my attention, but you didn't need those cursed spirits as bait. What is it that you desire?
The Cyan-haired man remained silent for a moment, observing how Yhwach stood. He was analyzing this man for any potential weak points in his fighting style, but he realized that his opponent had no openings; he realized what he was told about this man was true; this would truly be the test he lived for. The cyan-haired man smiled.
Cyan-Haired Man: So, you're the infamous Yhwach. Tell me, what does strength mean to you?
Yhwach: Strength, you ask? Strength is not merely the power to dominate or destroy, though that is certainly a part of it. True strength lies in the ability to adapt, to learn from every encounter, and to grow beyond the limitations imposed by one's own fears and doubts.
As Yhwach spoke, the Cyan-Haired Man listened intently, his expression thoughtful and contemplative. He seemed to absorb Yhwach's words, considering them carefully before responding.
Cyan-Haired Man: A wise answer, Yhwach. It seems that our encounter may hold more significance than I initially anticipated. Perhaps there is much I can learn from you.
Yhwach regarded the Cyan-Haired Man, intrigued by his response.
Yhwach: You have given me your question, but I have yet to receive your name. Who are you?
The Cyan-Haired Man, now identified as Hajime Kashimo, offered Yhwach a small nod before answering.
Hajime: My apologies Yhwach. I am Hajime Kashimo.
Yhwach acknowledged Hajime's introduction with a nod of his own, filing away the name for future reference. But before he could delve further into their conversation, Hajime posed yet another thought-provoking question.
Hajime: Yhwach, tell me, is strength something that leads to solitude? Or is the endless search for greater power simply a cross the strong must bear alone?
Hajime asks.
Yhwach: Neither.
Yhwach bluntly said
Hajime: Neither? What do you mean?
Hajime asks; he couldn't comprehend the meaning of this answer.
Yhwach: You asked if strength is solitude. No, it isn't. I may have shared your belief. But then, I discovered a new purpose—a driving force that propels me forward, a realization that changed everything.
Hajime: And what is this newfound purpose you speak of?
Hajime queries, intrigued by this revelation.
Yhwach: You'll have to earn that knowledge, Hajime Kashimo
Yhwach replies.
Hajime: Very well, then. Yhwach!
Hajime responds, wielding his Nyoi Staff and adopting his fighting stance.
Scene Break
Inside Dagon's Domain, Kenjaku, Mahito, and Jogo were relaxing while they enjoyed the sun. Going based on Jogo's cursed energy aura, Kenjaku could tell that Jogo was still afraid. Why wouldn't he be?
They had just lost Hanami during the event, but at the same time, it was worth it, because now they had the fingers and could think about the next plan that they had already started working on in Shibuya.
Jogo let go of the cigarette that he had made and tossed it into the ocean.
Mahito: Are we still going to use those curtains? That bastard must've destroyed the one we set up...
Mahito began.
Kenjaku kept a calm facial expression. Everything about him was calm, even though there might've been a chance that he was stirred up on the inside.
Kenjaku: Yes, we will still use them, however, things are going to be rough. Losing Juzo was to be expected, and maybe Hanami, but our goal still remains the same: trapping Satoru Gojo inside the Prison Realm. There's nothing we can do about these wild monkeys other than keep them away from the other sorcerers while we make our move.
Mahito: But how are we going to do that exactly...?
Mahito asked.
Kenjaku: I've hired other sorcerers who will be at the event who will be a distraction as well as responsible for the curtains outside of the subway station. Not only that, but with your ability to reshape the souls of most, using humans to kill other humans will confuse both Yhwach and Zaegar. Even with all of that power, just like Satoru Gojo, they'll have no choice but to rethink their morals. You'll be responsible for that...
Kenjaku said calmly.
Mahito: What about those two?
Kenjaku: I've already taken a precaution for that. We'll have Kashimo serve as a distraction for either of them. They'll be too caught up in the heat of battle. The best-case scenario is he kills one of them.
Kenjaku reveals.
Scene Break
The very moment Hajime readied his stance, he grinned as he charged towards Yhwach. The Cyan-Haired man jumped as he swung multiple times with his staff, only for Yhwach to block with such elegance that it was fascinating Hajime.
Hajime then attempted a heavy swing with his staff, which Yhwach gracefully dodged. Yhwach quickly responded with a left roundhouse kick, surprising Hajime with the speed of such a kick. Hajime only had enough time to block the attack with his staff; despite this, however, he was still sent tumbling across the ground by the sheer force of the kick.
Hajime got himself up quickly, smiling. He knew he had to go all-out against Yhwach; anything less would spell a quick defeat. His soul knew he would finally receive a fight that he'd been waiting four hundred years for.
Hajime: Cursed Technique Mythic Beast: Amber!
Hajime announced. Yhwach felt the increase in power, surprising him.
Yhwach: How Intriguing.
Hajime rushed towards Yhwach as he attempted to land a right jab. Yhwach countered by grabbing his arm, launching his opponent over him as he threw Hajime across the field.
Hajime landed on his feet after being thrown across. He took a deep breath as he began to transform ever so slightly. Yhwach began running towards Hajime as he charged two Heilig Pfei from his outstretched finger. While this happened, Hajime fired a cursed energy blast from out of his mouth, aiming towards Yhwach.
Yhwach jumped, somersaulting over the attack and Hajime, landing behind him. Yhwach Activated the Schrift "E" The Explode; the Cyan-Haired man was too slow to notice as a devastating explosion was set off. Yhwach wasn't done yet as he charged up a barrage of Heilig Pfei, firing multiple shots at Hajime.
Hajime was screaming in agony as each blast landed, rendering him unable to counter for the time being. He was stunned.
Hajime increased his power further as he transformed his entire body within his Mythic Beast: Amber attack. He charged yet again as he feinted a right punch at Yhwach, quickly landing a left punch on the Quincy king.
Yhwach simply stood there, smiling.
Yhwach: So this Mythic Beast: Amber transforms the body. Rendering any phonemon that's created by electricity itself? In turn, it increases his agility by speeding his brain's electrical signals and optimizing and tuning the sound to match the natural frequencies. You also vaporize irradiated objects using electromagnetic waves. Quite impressive.
Yhwach remarked, his tone laced with admiration for Hajime's abilities.
Hajime: Quite an observant one, aren't you?
Hajime responds back.
Yhwach: Unfortunately, that won't be enough against me.
Yhwach revealed.
Hajime: And why is that?
Hajime inquired.
Yhwach: Because even without employing my other Schrift abilities or activating Vollständig, you've struggled to land even a single blow on me.
This shocked Hajime quite a bit; he thought that Yhwach was revealing his true strength. But he knew now that Yhwach was treating this like a warm-up while he was going all out. Yhwach looked towards Hajime.
Yhwach: Let's clash lightning with lightning, shall we?
Yhwach said which confuses Hajime.
Yhwach: Vollständig: Barbarriel (Thunder of God )
As Yhwach began activating his Vollständig his spiritual pressure rose, the air crackled with electricity, and his form was enveloped in a brilliant aura of green lightning. Six wings formed behind his shoulders, each edged with lightning bolts, as a star-shaped Heiligenschein floated above his head.
As the curtain surrounding them shattered under the force of Yhwach's spiritual pressure, Hajime couldn't help but feel a surge of excitement mixed with disbelief. Never before had he encountered someone of such immense power, someone who seemed to transcend the limits of what he thought possible.
This was what he had been waiting for, what he had been searching for all these years—a battle that would push him to his absolute limits, a battle that would truly test his strength and resolve.
Hajime raised his power even further than he'd ever managed before. His blood was pumping. A single tear fell from his eye; this was the single greatest moment of his life.
Hajime: Let's keep going, Yhwach! This fight is going to keep lifting me higher until I can match you, fist for fist.
Hajime shouted, trembling over the adrenaline and excitement.
The two began charging towards each other as the pair traded multiple kicks and punches; seemingly neither could connect as they continuously kept blocking and parrying each other.
Yhwach used Hirenkyaku to blitz behind Hajime, attempting to land a kick to his ribs. Hajime caught onto this as he used his incredible speed to blitz behind Yhwach this time. The Quincy king quickly turned around, throwing a right jab towards him. Hajime dove underneath, throwing a punch that was blocked by Yhwach's wrist coated in Blut Vene.
Hajime quickly spun around to send a kick aimed at Yhwach's head, which, in response, the man managed to gracefully dodge. The two backed off for a split second, grinning at each other.
Hajime charged at Yhwach, sending a kick that was blocked by his opponent; however, the sheer force pushed Yhwach back enough. Yhwach responded by blitzing Hajime with his incredible speed, Punching him. This pushes Hajime back quite a bit.
Yhwach: The real battle begins now, Hajime Kashimo.
Yhwach was happy to see Hajime was getting stronger. He always appreciated a fighter's growth; no matter how strong they may be, it was always a beautiful sight to witness.
Hajime: Yeah, I can see that! You're incredible! I couldn't ask for a worthwhile challenge!
Hajime responded. Despite how strong he was in his respective era, no one ever challenged him. Hell, he already thought he had reached the peak of his abilities, but here he is growing in strength in response to Yhwach's power.
Hajime began charging towards Yhwach, attempting to land a couple of blows with his staff. However, Yhwach managed to duck and weave, throwing an intense jab, which Hajime could only block with his staff, sending him backward.
Hajime: My arms are shaking so much from that blow; this is crazy! This is the best fight I've ever had!
Hajime cheerfully screamed.
Hajime decided this was it; he was going to make one last attempt. He was putting everything he had into the last round. He intensified his Mythic Beast: Amber technique, pushing it as far as he could before charging towards Yhwach.
Yhwach could sense this from Reikaku, and this made him realize that this was how the man wished to die; he didn't wish to see life like this wasted, but he decided to honor this man's wishes, sympathizing with him quite a bit.
Yhwach used his speed to blitz backward just above Hajime as he charged a left kick that his opponent only managed to block. He quickly sent a catastrophic right kick at Hajime, sending the Cyan-Haired man flying.
While Hajime was sent flying backward, he aimed a blast in the direction of Yhwach. The Quincy king effortlessly dodged as he flew around the blast itself while he charged toward Hajime. Finally reaching towards Hajime, he landed a blow to his face, cutting off the blast in the process.
Hajime was sent flying yet again, desperately firing off multiple lightning discharge attacks in the hopes it would land on Yhwach.
Yhwach flew closer and closer, dodging each attack. He landed a right hook punch to Hajime's stomach before landing a quick left-right jab combination, immediately following up with a left knee to Hajime's face before he finished it off with a right kick, which sent the Cyan-Haired Sorcerer flying yet again.
Yhwach closed the gap between the two yet again, landing two left gut punches on Hajime. He landed another couple of punches to Hajime's chest before landing a right jab to the man's face. The old man was ruthlessly landing jab after jab at Hajime's face.
Hajime only managed to regain his bearings before he noticed Yhwach flying towards him. Out of pure reflex, he threw a punch himself, colliding with Yhwach's fist. Doing so caused his cursed energy and Yhwach's spiritual energy to clash for a moment, forcing Hajime to be sent flying once more.
Yhwach again closed the gap, connecting an earth-shattering gut punch to Hajime, causing the man to groan, only for Yhwach to kick Hajime in the face.
Yhwach decided to finish this off by applying an explosion to Hajime's face. Yhwach then released a massive explosion emitting around Hajime's aura, consuming him with a gigantic explosion.
Yhwach emerged from the fumes and smoke of this explosion, frowning at what he knew was next.
Yhwach: Galvano Blast.
With those words, a surge of electrifying energy coursed through his body, gathering at his fingertips in a crackling display of power. he unleashed the full force of his Galvano Blast, a devastating torrent of electricity hurtling towards Hajime.
Hajime Kashimo., at last, bloodied and bruised, picked himself up one last time.
The man stared off across from him until he finally saw.
His time had come.
Scene Break - Unknown Location
Kashimo Hajime, wearing the appearance he had over four hundred years ago, stared softly at the forest around him.
A tall man with long black hair slowly approached from behind him.
Hajime looks back towards the tall man.
Hajime: Yhwach-san, you're truly strong. There's no way I could stand up to you. You're truly the strongest after all!
Hajime's words held genuine admiration as he regarded the towering figure of Yhwach.
Yhwach: Do not underestimate yourself, Hajime. Your strength is undeniable. In my countless battles, your prowess stands out among the strongest.
Scene Break - The Battlefield
The lighting warrior gratefully smiled, gracefully standing. He chose to close his eyes, waiting for the end.
The Galvano blast engulfed Kashimo Hajime, leaving nothing but dust. Yhwach, sensing the man's cursed energy signature, realized he was gone and deactivated Vollständig, as he stood straight with his eyes closed.
Yhwach: Kashimo Hajime. It wasn't my wish that our fight would end this way. But I chose to respect and honor your wishes. Even though your time has passed, you will live on forever through me. Until we meet again.
Yhwach said softly, looking towards the sky.
Yhwach decided to walk towards Jujutusu Tech, making his way out of the forest.
Timeskip - A Meeting with The Higher Ups
Yhwach was standing in a decently lit room with multiple authorities hiding their appearance while talking to them. with Zaegar on his shoulder as usual.
Zaegar could barely hold his head together as they talked. There was something about their voices that made him want to sleep. Why was he so tired lately? He'd gotten the rest he needed...so...
Higher up: ...do you confess to having caused the floods and earthquakes during the Goodwill Event, harming thousands?
One of the authorities asked.
Zaegar scratched his butt. He didn't know what to say. Was it technically his fault? It was that brat...Megumi—it was Megumi's idea, not his, so should he take the blame for it? Well, he did find the battle interesting only for a short period of time, so...
Zaegar: Sure I guess.
Higher up #2: But since you admitted...there must be a penalty...
One of them replied.
Zaegar leaned next to Yhwach's ear for some advice. Zaegar whispered to him.
Zaegar: (Mental Link) Oi Yhwach Ginjo, how do I get these old farts off me?
Ginjo: (Within Yhwach's mind) Oh, I see you've gotten yourself into quite the predicament, Zaegar. Well, if you want my advice, you could always challenge them to a game of rock-paper-scissors. But knowing your luck, they'd probably end up being masters at it too!
Zaegar shot a glare in Yhwach's direction, his expression a mix of annoyance and frustration.
Zaegar: (Mental Link) Yeah, real helpful, Ginjo. Thanks for nothing, as usual. Maybe I'll challenge you to a game of rock-paper-scissors instead and see who's the real master of luck. Oh wait, you're just a voice in Yhwach's head, aren't you? Figures. Always popping in with useless comments.
Ginjo let out a scoff, his voice tinged with amusement at Zaegar's irritation.
Ginjo: (Within Yhwach's mind) Oh, the irony coming from you, Zaegar. Let's not forget who's the real troublemaker here. A hollow like you, constantly uses either Yhwach's or Ophis's body to wreak havoc and cause chaos in the outside world. And here you are, complaining about a little rock-paper-scissors suggestion. Classic.
Zaegar's expression shifted to one of indignation, his brows furrowing deeply as he listened to Ginjo's words.
Zaegar: (Mental Link) You've got some nerve, Ginjo. At least I know how to have fun without getting people killed or causing mass destruction. Can't say the same for you and your little band of rebels.
Ginjo: (Within Yhwach's mind) Why yo-
Yhwach couldn't help but chuckle softly at the banter between Ginjo and Zaegar echoing within his mind.
Yhwach: (Mental Link) Alright, enough you two. We have more pressing matters to attend to.
With a slight shake of his head, Yhwach turned his attention back to the authorities before him. He leaned slightly towards Zaegar, offering his advice in a hushed tone.
Yhwach: (Mental Link) Zaegar, if I were you, I'd offer a sincere apology and propose a suitable form of restitution. It's best to show remorse and a willingness to make amends.
Zaegar listened to Yhwach's advice but decided to follow his own instincts. With a stubborn huff, he straightened up and made his way towards the exit.
However, just as he was about to leave, one of the higher-ups interjected with a threatening tone.
Higher up #1: Hold it right there, Zaegar. Don't think you can simply walk away from this. If you and Yhwach continue to evade the consequences of your actions, we'll have no choice but to issue a death penalty and declare you both wanted criminals.
Zaegar froze in his tracks...
