Yu Wen raised her eyebrows, stopping in her tracks to stare at Feng Lan and ask, "What did you say?"

Under Yu Wen's intense gaze, Feng Lan suddenly felt uneasy, instinctively sensing that her previous comment had displeased Miss Yu Wen.

Fearing a misunderstanding, she quickly waved her hand and replied with an embarrassed tone, "It's nothing, Miss Yu Wen. Let's hurry up; it'll be troublesome if it gets dark."

Perhaps because it was daytime, the entire C building was unlit, which caused Feng Lan to stumble slightly on the dimly lit staircase.

Had it not been for Yu Wen's quick reflexes to steady her, it could have been quite embarrassing.

"Thank you, Miss Yu Wen," Feng Lan said, gripping Yu Wen's arm. A subtle flush of embarrassment crossed her face, and her fingers tightened around Yu Wen's arm.

"Be careful," Yu Wen reminded her.

"Mm."

The meaningless exchange between them was beginning to irritate Zhou Taifu, who felt increasingly anxious since their arrival, as if something was pressuring him, making his temper flare.

He pulled out the dagger from his pocket and tucked it into his sleeve, pressing it against his wrist.

His eyes darted around, always ready for an unexpected situation.

They had reached the fourth floor of C building.

The music classroom was located on this level.

However, for safety reasons, Yu Wen chose a longer but safer route to go upstairs.

This meant they had to navigate through two turns in the corridor and walk for a long time before reaching the music classroom.

The corridor before them gave an illusion of endlessness, with a dim haze at the end that seemed to separate them from a thick fog.

And they were gradually walking into that fog.

"Sorry," Feng Lan muttered apologetically, glancing at the restroom beside them with an uncomfortable expression.

Zhou Taifu's expression was even worse than Feng Lan's. "Let's go to the music classroom, find the lens, and leave," he whispered. "We can leave here soon, and then you can..."

Feng Lan clutched her stomach, looking increasingly pale. "Mr. Zhou, please wait for me for a moment."

As soon as she finished speaking, she dashed into the restroom, leaving Zhou Taifu and Yu Wen outside.

The moment of going to the restroom instinctively reminded them of Long Tao.

That unblinking gaze and the missing chin.

Zhou Taifu lowered his voice and asked, "What should we do now?"

In an extremely quiet environment, it's easy to let one's imagination run wild, especially since this place had indeed seen those events. The feeling of unease was festering, continuously corroding their minds.

Yu Wen stared into the dim surroundings and turned around, saying, "Let's go in."

The two of them entered the women's restroom, one after the other.

This restroom was not where Long Tao had died; it was located at the intersection of two corridors, in a better position, and the facilities inside were superior.

The sink area was tidy and clean, with half a bottle of hand soap in the corner and a black hair tie discarded on the edge, not particularly notable, but it stood out against the pure white sink.

Yu Wen guessed that it must have been left behind by some careless girl.

Looking up, there was a large mirror hanging on the wall.

The frame had an antiqued finish, done just right; first, there was a circle of framing, then a layer of wood grain texture covered over it, giving a very pleasant feeling.

Looking further inside revealed a bright marble floor that even reflected shadows.

Along the wall, there were two rows of stalls.

Altogether, there were about ten stalls, all uniformly painted deep blue and looking very clean.

The stalls had doors, with the barriers rising about 15 centimeters off the ground, leaving a gap at the floor.

The air was filled with a pleasant jasmine fragrance.

Unlike the men's restroom where Long Tao had died, this restroom was vastly superior in size and cleanliness.

However, there were no relaxed expressions on Yu Wen and Zhou Taifu's faces; they left the restroom door open and stood off to the right of the sink area.

From this position, they could see the entire restroom, ready to flee at the first sign of danger.

"Miss Feng," Yu Wen suddenly called towards the stalls.

Each door of the stalls was closed, so she could not determine Feng Lan's exact location.

Especially since, since entering the restroom, she had not heard any sounds from Feng Lan.

This was unusual.

"What's going on?" Zhou Taifu stared into the depths of the stalls, his tone suddenly tense.

Yu Wen took a step toward the stalls, then crouched down slightly, tilting her head to look through the gap beneath the barriers.

Normally, at this angle, she would be able to see someone's feet inside.

On the left side, there was nothing; she could only see the bottom of the toilet.

She turned her head to the right, peering into the first stall, then the second... She squatted there, checking one stall after another, until she reached the last one.

No...

There was actually no one there?!

Feng Lan seemed to have completely vanished!

Yu Wen shot up suddenly, and just as she was about to signal Zhou Taifu behind her to run—

"Creek—"

The door of the stall on the right suddenly swung open, followed by the sound of a toilet flushing, and Feng Lan emerged on her tiptoes.

This startled Yu Wen, who was just a few steps away.

Zhou Taifu, not understanding what had happened, immediately questioned, "Why didn't you say anything just now?"

Yu Wen had no time to stop him. In her initial assumptions, one of the conditions for the ghost's killings was likely that the victim needed to make a sound.

Just as Yu Wen covered her mouth, bracing herself for the truth of her lover's impending death, Feng Lan unexpectedly bowed to herself first.

Then she raised her head, looking slightly bashful as she said, "I'm sorry. I know Miss Yu Wen came in with concern for me, but I think it's very impolite to talk while using the restroom, so..."

"So you just didn't reply?" Zhou Taifu was a bit baffled, thinking there was something wrong with her head.

"Mm," Feng Lan nodded, but as she suddenly realized Zhou Taifu had also come in, her expression became strange, and she looked up to ask, "Mr. Zhou, why are you..."

She looked curiously at the restroom door.

The door was wide open, and from her position, she could clearly see the skirt sign marking it.

It was undoubtedly the women's restroom.

"I..." Zhou Taifu was momentarily at a loss for words.

In the end, it was Yu Wen who came to his rescue. She first took a moment to calm herself, then said calmly, "I asked him to come in."

Yu Wen raised her head to look directly into Feng Lan's eyes: "I called you so many times, but you didn't reply. I was worried..."

She trailed off, not finishing her sentence, but her eyes involuntarily revealed a hint of concern.

Although fleeting, it was still noticed by Feng Lan, and her eyes seemed to light up with a glimmer of starlight.
