Chapter 5592: Long Chen’s Condition
“Kill!”
Angry roars rang out in this mountain range, and numerous figures were flying about. A squad of tens of millions of experts was charging at a massive army of the devil race.
When Long Chen arrived, he was shocked by what he saw. This squad was wearing quite a few different robes, indicating they were from various factions. Their leader was a beautiful woman with a spear in hand and her hair tied in a ponytail.
She was surrounded by eight heaven veins, looking extremely formidable. Moreover, she exuded a unique aura that made her seem trustworthy and likable.
At this moment, killing intent surged out of her as she slaughtered the devil race’s experts. She charged left and right, untouchable by her enemies.
However, despite her fierce efforts, the human army seemed powerless against the devil race’s forces.
The devil race had locked down the surroundings with three outer and three inner layers, forming a massive, impenetrable sea of soldiers.
Even as the woman furiously charged at them, she could break through the encirclement. The sheer number of devil race experts was simply overwhelming, and their movements ground away at the human forces, slowly but surely.
In such a large-scale battle, a lack of concentrated power spelled certain defeat. Recognizing this, the woman immediately gave the order to retreat. If they continued charging forward, their group would inevitably be divided and devoured one fragment at a time.
“How hateful…” She cursed furiously as she worked to maintain the army’s integrity.“Senior apprentice-sister Su Yu, it’s no good. We don’t have the numbers. Without reinforcements, there’s no way we can stop them!” shouted a man guarding her back.
“That’s right. It’s not that we’re not strong enough but that the human race simply isn’t united. No one is willing to fight alongside us!” added another.
“It’s not just a lack of unity—it’s sheer foolishness! We already told them that the devil race has a peak expert relying on the unique terrain here to cultivate his ninth heaven vein. Once he becomes the Heaven Vein Mystic Realm’s first nine-vein Heaven Saint, his wrath will be directed at the human race. Yet, they refused to help us and even accused us of trying to trick them! It’s enraging,” cursed another.
Su Yu gloomily led her forces back. Thanks to her, they quickly managed to retreat to the edge of the battlefield.
“Foolish humans, you thought you could interfere in the devil race’s affairs? Are you dreaming? When Tiantong comes out as a nine-vein Heaven Saint, it will mark the day of your race’s calamity.”
A mocking voice rang out from the depths of the devil race’s army, brimming with disdain for Su Yu and her forces.
“This bastard!” Su Yu cursed, enraged at being mocked by the devil experts. “All of you can retreat. I’ll charge in and deal with that Tongtian myself.”
“No!”
Her companions hastily moved to block her path. They knew Su Yu was their strongest warrior and believed she might have a chance to breach the blockade. However, they also knew that once she reached the enemy’s core, there was no way she could escape alive. Faced with so many devil experts, even she would be worn down to death.
Su Yu seemed beloved by the people around her, and none of them wanted her to take that risk.
“Those petty bastards didn’t even bother to help! We should just do the same. When the time comes, at least we won’t be the only ones targeted,” said one person through gritted teeth.
The fact they had not received any reinforcements in all this time angered him. In truth, it angered everyone here.
They were risking their lives here, not for fame, treasure, or any selfish desire. However, they didn’t get any support.
“Every human is their own person,” said Su Yu firmly. “Each of us must act according to our conscience. Whatever others do is irrelevant. Everyone! We must stick to our principles!”
Her words silenced the group. It was this steadfast righteousness that had won their loyalty and admiration.
“Brothers, sisters, charge with me again. If we really can’t break through, I hope you’ll allow me to be selfish…” said Su Yu, her gaze sweeping over everyone.
Clearly, if they failed to charge through again, she would do it herself, even if she wouldn’t be able to leave.
“Even if you charged a hundred times, it would be useless,” A lazy voice suddenly interrupted, catching everyone off guard.
The speaker’s tone was infuriatingly dismissive. Was this person intentionally trying to dampen their morale?
When Su Yu turned to see the speaker, she was startled. A black-robed man with a sinister-looking saber had somehow appeared among them unnoticed. What if he was an enemy? Would that not be a calamity? ʀåɴőBЁș
However, he didn’t seem hostile. In fact, he appeared completely nonchalant, almost lazy, yet his face carried an inexplicable air of trustworthiness.
“Who are you?” asked a human expert.
Everyone’s guard went up, and they clenched their weapons, their auras locking onto him.
“Who I am isn’t important,” replied the man. “What’s important is that even if you charge a hundred times, the result will be the same. Although you might be a bit foolish, you’re brave, and I admire that. So, I don’t mind giving you some pointers.”
“Foolish? Pointers?”
The group seethed in fury. This man didn’t have a single Heaven Vein dragon qi, but he dared to belittle them?
Just as they were about to curse him out, Su Yu raised her hand to stop them. She asked, “Friend, do you have a way to charge in?”
“Of course. That would be something effortless to me,” Long Chen replied with a shrug.
His casual tone was infuriating. They had risked their lives repeatedly without success, and yet he claimed it was effortless for him. Did he see them as mere trash?
“Are you willing to help us?” asked Su Yu.
“Of course. But I do have a condition,” replied Long Chen.
Hearing this, Su Yu’s wariness deepened, and her companions’ suspicions flared.
“What is your condition?”
