Chapter 137: Omniscience in Marvel 133

Title - Ygdrassil 1

A man and a woman garbed in tight fitting comfortable gym clothes stood facing each other while panting mildly.

An intense level of concentration could be felt off them from a mile away. In the moment, it was as though it was only the two of them in the world.

It was unknown what the woman felt or saw that made her eye flicker ever so slightly before she immediately moved.

In a step, she was already in front of the man whose eyes shook a bit in surprise at her swift movements.

Before the man could admire any longer, he felt his balance shift at the same moment he felt his connection to the ground disappear. 'A ground sweep..?' the man thought, the emotion in his eyes changing from that to one of confusion. 'How will this…be helpful..?'

In the moment it took for one to blink, the man's hands moved and made connection to the ground, returning his sense of balance ever so slightly, and with that new form, he moved, throwing his leg with a precise and ruthless momentum towards the woman's exposed head.

Anyone would shake their heads at the inevitable result of the kick, but in a speed that defied common sense, the woman bent into a complete split and without wasting any movement, she swept out with her legs once again at the man's hands, and already expecting the woman to have dodged his kick, the man moved in hot pursuit, twisting his body and throwing another kick, this one, Downward.

However, before the attack could land, his hands were uprooted from the ground causing his sense of balance to go off, reducing the trajectory of the kick and the force behind it.

It was as though time crawled to a still for the man as his eyes widened in shock.

He hadn't predicted this.

At that moment, the World immediately turned black and white.

'Hmm. Perhaps this is one of those moments He spoke about.' The man thought as his eyes moved with an inhumane speed towards the woman's position. 'She's attacking…'

And as if moving at the same speed as the man's eyes, the woman brought her split legs together, brought them back before thrusting at the man's side.

Should the attack land, the man's ribs would surely receive enough impact to crack. 'Tch…' the man clicked his teeths. 'My current form can't accept that move…I'd have to sacrifice…' as he reached this train of thought, he stopped and sighed. 'What am I thinking?'

With a wry smile, he closed his eyes and muttered internally. 'Barrier.'

Immediately, the World regained color, and at a particularly enhanced Human level of speed, the woman's body moved perfectly as it hand moved in the Black and White World only to be blocked by a translucent golden barrier.

"You win." The man said as his body hit the ground at the other end of the barrier. "What do you want to know?"

"You're quite the charmer aren't you?"

"A man should always live by his words, talk more of a God such as myself."

The woman rolled her eyes at that and said. "If I didn't know better, I'd have thought you were quite the man of honor."

"Come now dearest, when have I ever gone against my words?" The man asked with an exaggerated look of betrayal.

"Like…literally the whole time." The woman said and gave him a hand to which the man grabbed, but instead of standing up, he swept the girl off her feet and down onto him. "I do all I do in accordance with my words, the process it's done however…" without completing his words, he caught the woman's lips in a kiss that lasted a couple seconds. "...is all up to my discretion."

"You…are quite the rogue aren't you?"

"I don't recall you disliking it."

"That's right. I don't." The woman slid her finger down the man's face. From the head all the way to the lips and chest. "However, I need answers right now."

"And those you shall get." The man said.

"Hmm." The woman hummed and looked deeply into the man's eyes.

Seeing beyond his average looking brown eyes and deep into the original amethyst blue eyes. Without saying anything, she stood up from the man's body.

A thick silence pervaded the space they were in, and despite the woman visibly walking away, there was no indication that she was moving due to the lack of sounds following her steps.

"About the human…Carter. Does giving her that ring have any significance?" the woman asked as she sat on a chair nearby with her arms crossed.

"Of course not. It's just a ring with a bit of Gaea's aura. It'll give her an edge in the game." the man, Lucas said and made to stand up only to feel an invisible weight pushing him back to the ground. "Thena."

"Then why is it that I don't believe you?" The woman, Thena asked with a sad sigh. "You promised. I won."

The man locked gazes with the woman for a few seconds before the man sighed. "It's just an experiment."

"..."

"..."

"I'm afraid I'll need a bit more than that." Thena said to break the silence.

"In this position?"

"..."

"Urgh." Lucas groaned and rolled his eyes. "You remember the Celestial I said was incubating on Earth right?"

"Yeah..?"

"I'm planning on using him as the catalyst to merge the Earth into Yggdrasill." Lucas explained as succinctly as he could.

"And what does that have to do with the ring you gave Carter?" Thena asked.

"It's nothing serious y'know. I only used a bit of my energy to see how it could go when mixed with a human."

As Lucas lay on the ground, his eyes flicked towards Thena, who was still scrutinizing him with her intense gaze. Her question hung in the air, waiting for a more detailed answer. He knew that she wouldn't be satisfied with anything less than the full truth.

With a resigned sigh, Lucas began, "Thena, you remember how I created Yggdrasill, right? It's a digitalized reality, a world where I can control everything?"

Thena nodded, her arms still crossed, her expression unreadable.

"Well, here's the thing," Lucas continued. "Despite being its Creator over there and a God here, I can't directly convert living beings from this universe into beings of Yggdrasill. The energy required to do something like that is beyond even my capabilities. It's not just about transferring data or consciousness; it's about fundamentally altering the very essence of a living being; something that's intrinsically tied to the fabric of this universe."

This wasn't something someone would even begin to think about. But Lucas or Leucadius was a God who had ideas of Earth's Manhwas. It was just inevitable of him to think – What if..? –

Despite looking for a way to oppose himself, he only found more reasons why it could be an interesting project.

He had the knowledge.

He had the Intelligence to surmise and get the answer he wants from already pre-existing information.

He had the Energy. The Means. He had the Foundation. He Had the Platform.

Now Leucadius wasn't a God shackled by something like Morals. He was a good person, but he wasn't above putting his interests above something as flimsy as emotions. In the past and now even, he had ordered or even actively participated in slaughtering of people.

He wasn't a saint, he knew when things needed to be done for the greater and later good. Still, he advocated the need for Love.

Some would even call him Bipolar, but he knew he wasn't.

He paused, gauging her reaction before continuing. "However, there is one way. The Celestial I mentioned—the one incubating on Earth. When it awakens, the surge of energy it will release could be enough to bridge the gap between Yggdrasill and this reality. It would act as a catalyst, allowing me to create a medium where the traits of Yggdrasill could be shared with the 3D reality of Earth."

Thena's expression softened slightly, her curiosity piqued. "A medium? You mean like a conduit or a bridge?"

"Exactly," Lucas said, nodding. "With the Celestial's energy, I could create something that would allow the digitized reality of Yggdrasill to interact with Earth's reality. It's a way to blend the two worlds, to make them share certain traits. The ring I gave Carter is just a small part of that experiment—a test to see how human beings interact with that kind of energy."

Thena frowned slightly, deep in thought. "But isn't that dangerous? Merging realities, even partially, could have unpredictable consequences."

Lucas shrugged, a small smile playing on his lips. "That's why it's just an experiment, for now. I'm not planning on rushing into anything. But if it works, it could open up a whole new realm of possibilities... literally."

"I thought she was your friend?" Thena asked. Neither her voice or face betraying any emotion.

"I'm not that emotionless Thena. That's exactly why I gave her That ring. Did you think I of all people would make an investment in an experiment I don't have full confidence in working?"

Thena sighed, finally releasing the invisible weight that had been holding Lucas down. "I just hope you know what you're doing, Lucas. The last thing we need is another disaster on our hands."

"C'mon-" Lucas began but paused as he remembered this was a repetitive cliché of all minor accidents that he'd ever caused that turned into a full blown apocalypse they'd later ended up taking care of as soon as Lucas realized where the mistake arose.

"Alright. Take a look at this." Lucas said and tapped the Space before him causing a golden transparent board floating in front of him. He tapped the air a few times from Thena's perspective before a similar screen appeared before her.

"What's this?" Thena asked and touched the screen. As she didn't do that however, a sharp electrical spark coursed through her body causing her to black out for an instant. "I see…" she said as soon as she regained consciousness. "This is her current status?"

In front of Thena was the Current Status of Carter who had just activated the spell on the Ring and Entered the Yggdrasil Beginner Space.

Due to his control over the world, despite Carter having logged in the night before, it only appeared as Live to him.

As Thena studied the game status board before her, she noticed something strange—

[Name: Margaret Carter

[Gender: F

[Race: Human

[Level: Nil

[HP: Nil

[MP: Nil

[STAT

[Strength: Nil]

[Vitality: Nil]

[Agility: Nil]

[Endurance: Nil]

[Intelligence: Nil]

[Wisdom: Nil]

[Luck: Nil]

[Charisma: Nil]

All her stats are listed as "Nil." There were no numbers, no attributes, nothing but empty spaces where the data should have been. Her brow furrowed in confusion as she tapped on the screen again, trying to make sense of it.

"Lucas, why are all her stats blank? Is something wrong?" Thena asked, her voice laced with concern.

Lucas, who had finally stood up and was now leaning casually against a nearby wall, shook his head with a small smile. "Nothing's wrong. The stats are blank because she's still in the tutorial period. The system won't reveal any information until after she completes it."

Thena's eyes narrowed as she glanced back at the screen. "That's unusual."

"Not really. Most of her Earthly data where sent over, so in terms of Stats like Vitality, Agility, Endurance, Intelligence, Wisdom and Charisma, she will remain and will only add more with more kills during this period cause there's a beginners boost of Mana or Exp as they'll call it." Lucas explained, his tone casual but tinged with a hint of excitement. "Her final stats will then be determined by her performance during the tutorial. The more goblins she kills, the better her stats will be. This isn't about mere survival as the quest indicates; it's about how well she adapts and learns in a high-stress environment."

Thena raised an eyebrow, intrigued. "So, the outcome is entirely in her hands? You're not giving her any advantages?"

"What?! What do you mean? Why would I do something so heartless?" Lucas gasped in fake shock. "The ring I gave her gives her access to a wonderful servant as soon as she leaves the beginners Forest."

"A Holy One?"

"Nah, that'll be too much favoritism. An Archangel, and which one is better than our resident troublemaker?"

"Hala?"

"Yup. That girl has been looking for the wrong kinds of adventure. What better way than to keep her shackled with a human?" Lucas asked rhetorically. "This could also help her improve." She'd been stuck in that level for so long. This would help her reflect a bit."

"Hmm." As Thena processed this, her gaze shifted to another section of the screen that caught her eye. In the "Constellation" region, instead of a familiar title or symbol, there was only a series of question marks: [???].

"What's this?" Thena asked, pointing to the entry. "Why is there a [???] in the Constellation section? And why can I see it when she can't?"

Lucas's eyes flicked to the area she was indicating, and a knowing smile spread across his face. "Ah, that. It's a placeholder, but not just any placeholder. The Constellation designation will reveal itself only after she completes the tutorial. Until then, she's unaware of what's influencing her progress."

"And what exactly is this placeholder?" Thena asked, her curiosity growing.

Lucas's smile widened as he revealed, "The Constellation is none other than…" Lucas took a dramatic pause. ''The Most High.''

"The Most High? You?"

"Yeah."

"Doesn't this mean she'd basically won this round of the war? Her Luck stats would be at an all time high then?" Thena groaned in disappointment and swiped the screen away from her face.

"Hey, how could you see me less..? That chases away any prying eyes, effectively making her and Hala appear kind of stranded in comparison to other participants who'd have investments and blessings from their respective Gods or Sponsors. " Lucas explained. "It's only effect would only be shown when she makes a wish."

"The lie you made up?" Thena asked, causing Lucas' brow to twitch.

"It's not a lie. With the energy I used in transfiguring her into a being of my universe, I maintain her form while gradually turning her into a being of both worlds. This would give her a body that's capable of existing in both worlds."

"Would that not put her in the sight of Arishem when he returns in a few years?" Thena asked, a bit worried.

"It won't. That's why I only intend to let her come back with ten percent of her Vitality Stat." Lucas replied with a victorious smirk.

"You speak as though she'd wish for that in the end."

"Trust me…" Lucas said and looked at the visage of Carter expertly maneuvering the forest with a certain flair. "She will. She's a character who probably stayed a Virgin till she died of old age in so many Universes out there. I have faith in this one."

Seeing the look Lucas had on his face, Thena's heart couldn't help but thump for a moment. That look. How she loved it. The look of a man who did whatever he wanted whenever he wanted however he wanted.

The look of a Free Being…Unshackled by the Norm and out to create his own.

"...and would steal that wish given to her digitized body. Thena..? Thena!"

"Huh?"

"Are you listening?"

"Yeah. Sorry. I was distracted for a moment." Thena said and coughed to hide a blush that was threatening to slip into her face. "What were you saying?"

Lucas groaned. "Forget it."

Thena didn't bother trying to get him to explain since she knew he wouldn't. "Still, I never imagined you to be the type to believe in this relationship like so…"

"It's…nothing really." Lucas hesitated but said in the end.

Thena looked back at the status board, her mind racing with possibilities. "You really think she's capable of handling that kind of power?"

Lucas's eyes glinted with a mixture of hope and challenge. "We're about to find out."

As Thena absorbed his words, the weight of Lucas's plan became clear.

This wasn't just a game or an experiment, it was a test of Carter's potential, with stakes higher than she could possibly understand. And Lucas, ever the enigma, was watching closely, ready to see if his faith in her would be rewarded.

"Don't worry, Thena. I've got everything under control. After all, I'm not just some rogue—I'm a God, remember?"

Thena rolled her eyes but couldn't suppress a small smile. "Just be careful, okay?"

"Always," Lucas replied with a wink, getting up to his feet. "Now, how about we continue where we left off? I'm sure there's still plenty for me to teach you."

Thena raised an eyebrow, a playful glint in her eye. "Teach me, or try to get the upper hand again?"

Lucas chuckled. "A little of both, maybe."

With that, the tension between them dissolved, and they resumed their sparring session.
