Chapter 79: Moody Lucas
But then, reality snapped back in, and she stepped away, suddenly self-conscious. "Let's go, then," she said, her voice a bit shaky. "We don't want to be late."
He nodded, understanding the shift in her mood. "Right. Let's get you out of that dress before we head out," he said with a teasing smile, which earned him a playful glare.
As he helped her pulled down the zipper, his fingers brushed again on her back, and for a brief second, it felt like the world had stopped moving. But she quickly composed herself, thanking him once more before asking him to leave the room.
She noticed his small pout before he left the room. Strange.....his face held the same expressions as Rachel, when she refuse to let her eat too much dessert.
She quickly changed into her previous outfit and came out of the dressing room, to found him sitting on the couch sipping his coffee. "I'm done." He put down his cup and asked her to buy more dresses.
They both came out of the store with a single bag. Just a single bag and he was clearly angry about this. He opened the car door for her and made her sit inside. He was so furious that he slammed the car door shut with a deafening bang, making the whole car vibrate.
She flinched at his sudden anger. Why is he being so moody suddenly? They were just fine inside the store, they were even going to kiss. He quickly sat inside the car and tied his seatbelt.
He looked at her with an angry face and she reach out to find her safety belt. He gently nudged her hands aside, making her raise her hand for him to tie her seatbelt. He is caring for her but at the same time he is being angry too.
He himself didn't know why he felt that anger. Is it because she didn't buy herself more dresses or is it because that kiss didn't happened?
"Are you angry because I didn't buy more dresses?" She asked him once he started the engine. He didn't replied but instead threw a tantrum at her. "We try to do everything for someone but still that person sees us as an outsider. That's the bitter truth of life."
She looked at him to answer him. "I don't see you as an outsider." He looked at her for a brief second then again focused on the road. "Then why you didn't buy more dresses? Are you still concerned about me wasting my money on your dresses?"
He paused to drive the car to the curb. "Why can't you think of my money as ours when we are going to become a family soon. You just think of me as your benefactor. Nothing else."
"I already think about your money as ours that's why I don't want to waste it." She replied him, lowering her head. The tension in his shoulders noticeably eased as he listened to her perspective.
He took a deep breath, before responding in a calmer, more measured tone. "I just want you to have all the luxuries but you are still concerned about the prices."
"Luxury provide happiness and my happiness lies in my family..... Rachel, you and now this child inside me. Nothing can provide me more happiness than you all." She replied him turning her face to look at him.
His eyes sparkled with warmth as a delicate blush painted his face, showing how much her words meant to him. He forgot about all the anger he was feeling a few minutes ago and just replied with his most gentle tone. "Thank you for making me a part of your life."
