Chapter 20: Navy Headquarters
"Whoaaah! What's with this lump of luxury?! Incredible! What power did you use? This is already god-class creation level!!"
After opening the small cabin door on the ship, Nami exclaimed in shock, terrified by the huge and exotic-looking buildings that seemed to come from the future.
Glass-like buildings of towering height, lush gardens, and even small beaches stretched before her eyes. This was simply another world hidden inside the small caravel.
Zoro, who had followed, stood solemnly as he muttered,
"No wonder the mere fluctuations of this power brought me to my knees. That's simply god-power…"
Behind the shell-shocked Kaya stood Butler Merry, mumbling with disbelief and using all the incredulous words he knew.
Xun looked at the small world he had created and was quite satisfied. What modern person would spend their days on a broken wooden ship? Isn't the luxurious yacht creation proof enough?
Xun suddenly spoke, drawing everyone's attention. Merry's trail of thought came to an abrupt end as he looked at Xun with awe and curiosity.
"Merry…"
"Ah, not you. It's the ship's spirit…"
The crowd looked at each other in bewilderment as a smooth and cute loli voice resounded. A translucent, hovering figure appeared—an adorable loli with white hair and purple eyes that closely resembled Xun's little sister.
"At your order, Master. What do you wish to inquire about?"
"Woah!!" Kaya exclaimed, staring at the sudden appearance of the elf spirit in surprise.
Butler Merry, however, was far from calm. His eyes widened in terror as he pointed at the illusory figure and shouted,
"Elf Spirit!! It's the legendary Elf Spirit!!!"
Nami and Zoro exchanged glances, once again feeling their worldview shatter.
The captain had a knack for breaking their preconceived notions—and he always succeeded.
First, the transmission of knowledge, and now these precious techniques and creations!
'Just who are you?!' the two thought in unison. Even with their advanced intellect, they couldn't decipher the enigma that was their captain.
Xun looked at the cute loli with a smile and nodded.
"I want you to help my friends here explore and guide them to all kinds of facilities. As for Kaya…"
Kaya instinctively jumped and shouted,
"No need to think about it! Whatever the condition, I agree!!"
Zoro and Nami remained calm, as though they had already expected the situation, though their eyes stayed glued to the hovering loli. They were fascinated and curious about everything around them.
Butler Merry cast a worried glance at his young lady but chose to remain silent.
Xun chuckled.
"There's no hard condition. It's just… if you want me to cure your illness, you'll need to join our crew."
Kaya's face lit up with a radiant smile, and she threw herself into Xun's arms.
"I do!!!"
Butler Merry looked at his young lady with relief, only to be surprised by Xun's voice.
"You too, Butler Merry. How about joining us? As you can see, our ship is bigger than an island, and while Merry-chan is in control of everything, there's no harm in recruiting a professional butler."
Butler Merry was stunned but also deeply moved.
Although the ship had transformed into something far beyond his imagination, at least it still looked the same from the outside. Besides, he was reluctant to part with his young lady.
He bowed deeply, accepting the invitation gladly.
As the crew followed Merry-chan's guidance to explore the ship's various facilities, the world outside had already descended into turmoil….
Navy Headquarters.
The air was tense as the meeting room filled with rear admirals, vice admirals, and admirals. The sudden aura that had brought everyone to their knees earlier still lingered in their minds, filling them with fear and worry.
Sengoku, the Marshal, stood at the center, his sharp eyes scanning the room. Sweat trickled down his back, and his clenched fists betrayed his nervousness. Still, he steeled his resolve. If he showed even a hint of fear, it would deal a severe blow to the morale of the marines.
"Have our intelligence agencies found anything about the source of the earlier commotion?"
Tsuru's face was pale. For someone as sharp and strategic as her, she knew this meeting was likely pointless. Anyone with a shred of intelligence could tell that the aura they had felt wasn't something a human could emit. Compared to that kind of power, the entire world was nothing more than an ant. However, the vice admirals and rear admirals didn't seem to grasp this.
The IQ of this world was outrageously low. Some vice admirals were even speculating that it was caused by a devil fruit or formidable conqueror's haki. Their perspective was so narrow, it couldn't be helped.
For this reason, this meeting had to happen.
The "Great Staff Officer" Tsuru let out a deep sigh, ignoring Garp's worried, fidgeting expression, and answered Sengoku.
"We only know that, according to witnesses, the East Blue was the first site of the outbreak. And while it lasted only a second, it spread across the entire world…"
A tough-looking rear admiral suddenly exclaimed,
"What a powerful devil fruit! No matter who its user is, he's already caused chaos across the seas and must be dealt with by the righteous marines!"
Admiral Kizaru, sitting nearby, sighed at the energetic rear admiral who seemed more focused on earning credit than the situation's gravity.
Admiral Aokiji, lying lazily in his chair, pushed up his eye mask and asked,
"What about that voice? Did anyone recognize it? That voice was so magnetic, so compelling. I dare say that if you heard it, you'd never forget it…"
Tsuru glanced at Aokiji and confirmed,
"Yes, that voice is one of the only leads we have."
Admiral Akainu clenched his fists, the veins on his forehead bulging with anger.
"Then what are we waiting for?! Let's begin investigating the East Blue immediately! We must find the culprit and bring him to justice!"
Aokiji and Kizaru exchanged speechless looks.
A mere aura leak turned you into liquid magma? What nonsense about bringing someone to justice? If you want to commit suicide, fine, but don't drag us down with you…
Garp suddenly stood up, his expression serious.
"I'll take on this investigation myself. After all, I'm more familiar with the East Blue than any of you…"
At the same time, Garp was silently worrying about his grandson.
Luffy! I hope you're safe…
The marine officers looked at the legendary Vice-Admiral Garp, their hearts filling with a sense of peace.
"Hahaha! With Vice-Admiral Garp on the case, the culprit will definitely be brought to justice!"
"Justice!!!"
The meeting was adjourned shortly after, leaving only Tsuru, Marshal Sengoku, and the three admirals in the room.
Tsuru turned to Sengoku and asked,
"What did the Five Elders tell you during the call earlier? You looked troubled when you came back. Did they scold you again?"
Sengoku's lips twitched, and he sighed in defeat.
"It seems even they were brought to their knees… They were terrified. They warned me repeatedly: if I find the source, I must not act rashly."
The three admirals' expressions grew serious, while Tsuru closed her eyes in resignation.
"Sengoku, you're a smart man. You should understand that whatever caused this is beyond human comprehension. Even the World Government, with all its hidden trump cards, is being cautious…"
Kizaru commented casually,
"Scary… Vice-Admiral Garp is in deep trouble…"
Akainu snorted in frustration.
"Cowards! What happened earlier is definitely a scam! There's no power capable of something like that! And even if it—"
Aokiji interrupted his rant, his gaze cool and unamused.
"Ancient Weapons…"
Sengoku's expression remained unchanged, as did Tsuru's. They had already considered this possibility, but Sengoku shook his head.
"It's not. I asked the Five Elders about it, and they assured me there's no Ancient Weapon with this kind of power or effect."
Kizaru chuckled.
"What then? Aliens? That would be scary…"
The others looked at him in surprise, though they found themselves slightly convinced by the notion.
Tsuru appeared thoughtful.
"Maybe…"
Sengoku grew solemn.
"If so, then what could these 'aliens' be planning?"
Tsuru replied wisely,
"It's definitely not our destruction. Didn't you hear what the voice said? 'Everything and everyone is equal under God.' We're humans; we can't use human logic to speculate about God's thoughts. But at least for now, since nothing else has happened, this being—whatever it is—doesn't seem hostile to the world."
Sengoku nodded grimly.
Akainu stood up and left the room, visibly irritated. This conversation was nonsense to him.
What bullshit about God?! With my magma power, even God can burn…
The others didn't stop him. Although Akainu wasn't convinced, he wouldn't leave his post and head to the East Blue—not unless he wanted to die.
Because Xun was one of his haters. Not for any noble reason like Ace's death, but simply because he despised Akainu's concept of "justice." You're just a dog, so why pretend to be a hero?
Aokiji sighed.
"Ara Ara… The seas will definitely be calm for a while…"
Kizaru, pretending to be oblivious, quipped,
"Heh, really? But why are you worried? Isn't it good for the seas to be calm?"
Tsuru glanced at Sengoku, her tone filled with foreboding.
"Be prepared… After all, after the calm, there's always a terrifying storm…"
Sengoku took a deep breath as his mind churned with unease.
