One Piece: Holy Light Swordmaster

Chapter 94: Chapter 94: Breaking Limits

The title of the world's greatest swordsman—this was the dream shared by both Zoro and Kuina.

Yet neither of them truly grasped the strength such a title required—they hadn't even set foot beyond their island.

But today, Wright's casual strike had given them a glimpse. Wright hadn't even reached the level of a true great swordsman, yet his power was already so overwhelming. In comparison, their so-called sparring sessions seemed like child's play.

Back at the dojo, Zoro didn't waste a second and returned to training. Witnessing Wright's demonstration only strengthened his resolve to train harder and one day set sail to explore the world.

Meanwhile, Wright invited Kuina to visit Koushirou and his wife with him.

"Senior Brother, do you think... what my father said is true? That as girls grow older, they become weaker?" Kuina asked hesitantly. Wright's display had firmly elevated his status as a swordsman above her father, Koushirou, in her heart.

Having traveled the seas for so many years, this legendary senior brother surely knew much more than her father, who had never left the village.

"That's generally true," Wright replied, understanding the root of Kuina's obsession. "But there are always exceptions. I know of a female swordsman in Marine Headquarters whose strength surpasses that of most male officers."

Seeing the light ignite in Kuina's eyes, Wright continued, "There are inherent differences in potential strength between men and women, but opportunities to grow stronger are equal.

"If strength is insufficient, you can focus on speed, technique, or even the abilities granted by a Devil Fruit. This vast sea is full of miracles, but before you can seize one, you must be fully prepared."

After explaining the details about Devil Fruits, Wright led Kuina into the dojo's reception room, where Koushirou and his wife were already waiting.

"Master," Wright greeted, taking a sip of tea before getting straight to the point. "I want to take Kuina to Marine Headquarters."

"Oh?" Koushirou raised an eyebrow. "To Marine Headquarters? Why?"

"Kuina's dream is to become the world's greatest swordsman. While she shows promise in breaking through the physical limitations imposed by gender, training alone has too high a chance of failure," Wright said, glancing at Kuina before continuing.

"But if she joins Marine Headquarters, she'll have access to the best training resources, the finest instructors, unparalleled knowledge, real combat experience, and..." Wright paused, watching Kuina's expression shift from surprise to anticipation, "the greatest opportunity to obtain a Devil Fruit."

"A Devil Fruit..." Koushirou murmured, realization dawning. "That could indeed help overcome the limits of a female swordsman's strength. I never considered that possibility before.

"Acquiring a Devil Fruit is extremely difficult, and finding one suited for a swordsman is even harder. But if she's at Marine Headquarters, there might be a chance..."

"Father, I want to go to Marine Headquarters!" Kuina said resolutely. "As long as there's even a sliver of a chance, I'll do everything I can!"

"Still, Devil Fruits are incredibly rare. With so many in the Navy, the chances aren't great..." Koushirou's wife hesitated, her concerns about Kuina leaving home unsaid.

"With my contributions to the Navy..." Wright smirked confidently. "I won't make empty promises, but if a suitable Devil Fruit appears, I'll ensure Kuina gets it."

Hearing this, Koushirou's wife fell silent. After a moment of contemplation, Koushirou made his decision.

"Very well, Wright. I'll entrust Kuina to you!"

"Even if she doesn't grow stronger, you must bring her back safely!"

"Don't worry, Master." Wright smiled. "Leave everything to me!"

"This is Sengoku."

"Old man Sengoku, it's me, Wright."

"Oh, Wright! Rosinante mentioned you hurried back to the East Blue recently. Garp and I were worried about that crystal business. How did it go?"

"Things went smoothly; I made it in time. But I'm calling for a different reason today. I want to bring someone to Marine Headquarters."

"Oh? A friend you saved?"

"Technically, it's my junior apprentice sister—my swordsmanship master's daughter."

"...Oh..."

"Ahahaha, Wright, you sly kid!" Sengoku suddenly chuckled, his tone full of insinuation.

Wright's face darkened. From the other end, Garp's boisterous laughter echoed.

"Hey! What nonsense are you two old geezers thinking?!" Wright roared. "My junior apprentice sister is eleven years old! She was just a newborn when I finished my training! You two dirty old men!"

"Ahem... ahem..." Awkward coughs and the crunching sound of Garp munching on senbei came through the line. Wright inwardly wished the snacks would choke the man.

"Well, no problem then..." Sengoku finally said, trying to shift the topic. "Since she's your apprentice sister, I assume she's skilled with a sword?"

"Hmph, my junior apprentice sister is a prodigy! At ten, she could already defeat adults!" Wright declared proudly. "I'm bringing in a future expert for the Navy!"

"Alright, she can enroll in the Marine Academy. Once she completes the basic courses, she can either join the recruit training camp or continue training under you."

"Yay! So G-3 is finally getting a cute little girl?!" Garp chimed in. "Wright, I'm great with kids! Leave her to me, and you can focus on missions!"

"No way! Dream on!" Wright and Sengoku shouted in unison.

"Sengoku, make sure Garp doesn't meddle! My junior apprentice sister is a beautiful young girl. She mustn't be turned into a brute by Garp!" Wright shuddered at the thought.

"She's a swordsman! What could a fist-fighter like him teach her anyway?"

"Hmph! You're a swordsman too, yet I trained you just fine!" Garp retorted.

"Garp, you're a devil!" Wright snapped.

"Ahem... Wright, your apprentice sister will be directly under your command, not Garp's," Sengoku reassured him, shooting Garp a warning glare.

"By the way, what's her name? I'll handle the paperwork now, so she can enroll directly when you arrive."

"Kuina," Wright replied, relieved. "I'll train her briefly before bringing her over. She's never left her home island and needs time to learn some basic common knowledge."

"Understood."

"One more thing—I'd like to request priority access to any Devil Fruits suitable for swordsmen, using my military merits for the exchange."

"For your apprentice sister? Ah, she's lucky to have you as her senior brother..." Sengoku mused. "Very well, I'll keep an eye out."

"Thanks. And remember—keep Garp in check!"
